They have not yet been utterly destroyed. They remain active, defeated but still fighting, until the King returns. Kingdom victory in this present age comes from the combination of three texts. Galatians 1:4 tells us where we stand: delivered from this present evil age. Hebrews 6:5 tells us what we taste: the powers of the age to come. Ephesians 6:10-18 tells us how we fight: clothed in the whole armor of God. Positionally we are seated above the powers in Christ; practically we must enforce that position through warfare. Refuse the unspoken truce. Put on the whole armor of God.
