Kim and Jen carry on with their Halloween October Spooktacular with this bloody episode...They uncover all things Vampire in New Orleans. The Big Easy's climate and ambiance would make the perfect environment for one of these blood sucking creatures to find their newest victim. The author Anne Rice seemed to think that Vampires belonged here, just around the corner from her Garden District home but was she tapping into New Orleans' history to get inspiration for her novels? Grab a blanket, garlic cloves and a bourbon while the ladies sip on Maker's Mark Cask Strength bourbon.
Episode 15. This time, Murdina and Jesus are drinking Maker's Mark Cask Strength Bourbon Whisky. After AWJ's recent trip to Kentucky and visits to 15 distilleries in Bourbon country, he and Murdina are talking bourbon. And drinking it too. After clearing up any basic confusion about bourbon vs scotch vs whisky, they move on to other exciting topics, such as whether it's possible to make bourbon by aging it inside the peglegs of influential pirates. (The answer is yes, if their legs are made of oak.) There's also an EPIC candy pairing. Really, Murdina almost dies of delight and Jesus only manages to save her by putting pipette drops of water into her mouth. It's a good one!
Jake and Steve sit down to dive into the concept of family and how it evolves differently for everyone as time goes on. Bobby Crow, Dustin Bovey, and Josh Bentley join us during the episode and enjoy some Maker's Mark Cask Strength while smoking an Espinosa Habano Box Pressed Toro. This episode dives pretty deep around the table and we hope you enjoy all aspects of the episode. Sit down, pour a drink, light up, and join us in the garage!
The Dads open up some virtual mail and answer questions from the listeners. While they're answering questions, they try out a sample of Balcones that a friend sent them. Then, in true Dads Drinking Bourbon fashion, there is a blind tasting and review of the new limited edition Maker's Mark Seared Bu 1-3 which they put against Maker's Mark Cask Strength and Maker's Mark Private Select. intro/outro: springtide "fall asleep under the millions of stars"
Will and the Greeze start talking about changes in the bourbon industry, Greeze starts ranting, and they do a side by side of Elijah Craig Small Batch vs 13 year age stated... then Greeze rants some more. Then, after the 15, they try Maker's Cask Strength.
This drink is a long time coming. After talking about it for many months, we pull the trigger on Maker's Mark Cask Strength, and my was it delicious. In addition to our normal TV, Movies, and Comics talk, we get a little too deep into talk about audio quality (irony understood)
Templeton Rye has been in the spotlight in recent weeks as critics go after so-called "sourced whisky" producers for what they claim are violations of a US regulation that requires the disclosure of the "state of distillation" of a whisky if it's different from the producer's home state. The Iowa-based company announced two weeks ago that it will change its labeling to disclose that its whisky is distilled in Indiana, while noting that it's been up front about that fact for years everywhere but on the label. Templeton's Scott Bush and Keith Kerkhoff will tell us their side of the story on this week's WhiskyCast In-Depth. In the news, Scotch Whisky producers are nervous about the upcoming independence referendum, Kentucky's Bourbon Hall of Fame will induct one of the industry's pioneering women, and there are plenty of new whiskies to talk about. This week's tasting notes include the Four Roses 2014 Limited Edition Small Batch, Maker's Mark Cask Strength, and the Parker's Heritage Collection 2014 "Original Batch" Wheat Whiskey.
