An episode from East River Baptist Church, a conservative, independent body of King James Bible believers located on the Northeast side of Houston, Texas. East River Baptist Church's (ERBC) mission as an assembly is threefold:- To Exalt the Saviour! Eph. 3:21- To Edify the Saints! Eph. 4:16- To Evangelize the Sinners! Lk 24:47 What ERBC believes about the Scriptures: “We believe that the scriptures of both Old and New Testament are verbally inspired of God, that they are the supreme and finalauthority for faith and practice, and are preserved in the Authorized Version (KJV 1611) of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16. Psalm 12:6-7." What ERBC believes about God: “We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That God is supreme in His person, absolute in His attributes, glorious in His perfection, and eternal in Hisbeing. 1 John 5:7." What ERBC believes about Jesus: “We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ. His conception by the Holy Spirit, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His exaltation atGod's right hand, and His personal imminent, pre-millennial, and pre-tribulation return. Ephesians 1:7. ” What ERBC believes about man: “We believe that God created man in His image and likeness (a triune being: spirit, soul, and body) in a state of innocence's, but throughtemptation, he willingly transgressed, became dead in trespasses and sins. As a result, his posterity (all men) inherited a corrupt nature, are born in sin, and are under condemnation. Romans 5:12.” A message from ERBC to you:“If you are looking for a church in the Houston Texas area that preaches the Truth from God's Word, reach out to us at any time. Ever been nervous to cook for a chef? In this episode of Seared, I bust the myth of the food snob, revealing that most chefs actually love being cooked for, regardless of the cuisine. I share personal anecdotes and explores the difference between genuine food enthusiasm and judgmental food snobbery, highlighting how the latter often stems from deeper psychological needs related to status, insecurity, and belonging. The conversation delves into the social context of food, examining how it can be used to create hierarchies and exclude others, while also acknowledging the diverse meanings food holds for individuals – from simple sustenance to cherished childhood memories.Beyond the kitchen, the episode explores how snobbery manifests in other areas like music, fashion, and cars, connecting it to the human desire for social validation. I also offer practical tips for cultivating a more inclusive approach to food, emphasizing gratitude, curiosity, and focusing on the shared experience of a meal rather than passing judgment. This episode encourages you to embrace the diverse world of food, appreciate the emotional connections people have with their meals, and celebrate the joy of sharing a table together, no matter what's on the menu.To learn more about my Soulful Guidance sessions, you can see the info here on Instagram: LEARN MORE To book a live reading, go HERETo book a remote reading, go HERETo join the wicked email list, go HERETo find out more about working with me, go to the website to find out more about how life and creativity coaching can work for you.You can also find me on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook.Watch the episode on YouTube as well! Don't, for a minute, let that detail stand in the way of your making this. Wild rice or one of the suggestions below would make a fitting accompaniment.

Send us a textIn this episode, we follow up on our last episode where we concluded with the fact that God is the Author and Determiner of morality. Arnie and Fred begin by noting that moral character is unique to mankind. We discuss the human spirit which was created by God when He created mankind in His image. We look at several passages in Genesis which tell us this. Jesus notes that God is a Spirit which identifies us as spiritual beings as Moses said, made in His image. Both Paul and Peter discuss our conscience which functions as our moral compass if we listen to it properly. We look at what Paul says about the possibility of searing our conscience to the point it is desensitized and doesn't work as God intended. We note that morality is universally applicable. God is no respecter of persons. His moral requirements apply to all countries and people who live in them. We close out this episode by noting that immorality is the same as sin. We will begin our next episode by a fuller discussion of this fact. Take about 30-minutes to listen in on our discussion. Have your Bible handy so you can verify what we are saying. There is a transcript of this Buzzsprout episode provided for your convenience.

It's a stereotype - the chef (and cooks) yelling at the poor servers as they come into the back of the house to do their job. I used to be like that too, until I realized a few things:1) I was being a jerk2) They're doing they're job and deserve to be treated well3) We're all on the same teamIt came down to CHOICE - how I decided to see the situation and how I wanted to comport myself. We ALL have choice in how we see ourselves, our problems, and how our lives unfold. In this episode of Seared, I touch upon the whole FOH-BOH thing and then share how choice has so MUCH POWER in your life. It literally can change your life....so listen up!NOTE: I'll be having a FREE workshop on Tuesday May 7th at 1 pm EDT to help you identify and break out of creative blocks. "Use your words" is something that parents will tell their children when the wee ones struggle to convey their feelings or needs. This is something we can struggle with as adults too. You have a voice, but maybe you struggle to find or use it. You're not alone!Do you have a hard time letting others know what you need?Do you mumble or mutter instead of being loud and clear? Are you playing small and letting your voice reflect that?In this episode of Seared, I look at how you can improve using your voice.  Literally. I give tips on how to find more of that confidence so that you can have more command of those around you (in the best way, of course!) and also increase the feeling of power that you naturally have. You don't have to have a booming chef voice like yours truly to get your message across (although it can help at times ha ha!)Leave a review, subscribe on YouTube, or share with someone who may be hiding their voice ;) To find out more about working with me, go to the website to find out more about how life and creativity coaching can work for you.You can also find me on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Threads.Watch the episode on YouTube as well! In this episode, we look at the seal of the Holy Spirit that the Lord has placed within us when we were born-again. We see what exactly it means to be sealed with the Spirit and what specifically that entails for our daily life. We also look at the connection it has to those who've allowed their conscience to become seared. We see the effects of that and how we can avoid it. We should always cherish the seal we've been given because He's sealed us with Himself and that's a seal that can never be broken.

We're all on a search for God. During this series, we're going to look at some of the things we often find ourselves searching for when it comes to our relationship with the Lord What does God think about you?1. God loves you, and He likes you, even though He knows you.Ephesians 1:5 NLT "God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure."Your redemption is God's dream come true. 2. God is not mad at you.Colossians 1:19-20 NLT "For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross."Feeling that God is mad at you is not logical in light of the cross. If you feel God is still angry at you because of your sin, you are believing a lie.  Why don't we feel God's approval sometimes?1. Our conscience is condemned.Hebrews 10:22 NLT "Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean..."The Bible talks about having 1. Clean/clear/good conscience—when you're at peace with your behavior, 2. Guilty/condemned/defiled conscience—when you feel conviction over your behavior, 3. Seared/branded/burned conscience—when you don't feel bad about your bad behavior.Holy Christians are happy Christians. Pure Christians are at peace 2. We're looking at circumstances.Romans 8:35 "Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? What's happening around you is not an accurate reflection of how God feels about you. 3. We're focused on feelings. How you feel about God isn't an accurate reflection of how God feels about you.Ephesians 4:26 NLT: "don't sin by letting anger control you."Emotions must be monitored, because they're not always accurate.Don't mistake God's silence for God's absence. 4. We haven't dealt with our past. The value of a $100 bill doesn't change based on how it was previously used.God has not only forgiven but forgotten our sin.Isaiah 43:25 NLT "I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again."How often do you think about a bill you've already paid? You don't. That's how often God thinks about your forgiven sin: He doesn't.***Are you searching for God's approval?
