Lane Kiffin is now at LSU, Kalen DeBoer is leading Alabama into a new era, and college football is changing fast. Jake Coker and Mick Gillispie break down the biggest stories across college football, recruiting, Alabama football, LSU football, Ole Miss, and the latest NCAA rule changes. The guys react to Lane Kiffin's comments about recruiting in Mississippi, the challenges tied to history, perception, and program identity, and how his time at Ole Miss changed the Rebels' national profile before his move to LSU. They also discuss Kiffin's career as one of college football's most fascinating coaches — a proven winner with a controversial past and massive expectations in Baton Rouge. Jake Coker also weighs in on Steve Sarkisian's “basket weaving” comments, the reality of academics in college football recruiting, and his own experience graduating from Florida State in three years while balancing life as a quarterback. The conversation then shifts to Alabama football, where Coker and Gillispie discuss why the Crimson Tide brand remains bigger than any one coach, even Nick Saban. They explain why Kalen DeBoer's professional, business-like approach could fit perfectly in Tuscaloosa, why his quarterback recruiting matters, and why Ty Simpson's intelligence and accuracy could be key for Alabama's future. Plus, the guys break down major NCAA rule changes, including the new targeting suspension policy and the rare fair catch free kick/field goal rule that could create wild end-of-game moments. How NCAA's ‘Five Years to Play Five' Rule Could Reshape Ohio State's 2027 Roster | Buckeye WeeklyTony Gerdeman and Tom Orr discuss a pending NCAA rule that would allow players five years of eligibility to play five seasons and how it could impact Ohio State's 2027 roster by potentially keeping 2026 true seniors for an extra year. They run through possible returnees—WRs Devin McCuin and Brandon Innis, TE Mason Williams, LG Luke Montgomery, DT James Smith, LB Christian Allegro, and CB Jermaine Matthews—debating draft projections, NIL tradeoffs, positional needs, and whether retaining veterans could replace portal additions. They highlight the value of continuity and frame the change as a way to re-sign in-house “free agents” before turning to the portal.00:00 Welcome Back Banter01:22 NCAA Five Years Rule02:43 Wide Receiver Decisions06:43 Tight End Return Case09:22 Luke Montgomery O Line13:18 James Smith D Line16:18 Christian Alliegro Outlook20:28 Jermaine Mathews Debate23:17 Portal Style Roster Building26:12 Wrap Up And Subscribe

It's been famously said in Canada that if you don't like your weather out the front door, just take a look out the back door instead, where you're sure to find something more to your liking. Similar phrasing might be appropriate when discussing the NCAA rule change that has shifted the ground beneath junior hockey in Canada: if you don't like how the rule change is impacting the CHL this week, just wait a week and your feelings are likely to change. The environment has been that turbulent in this new era, which currently still resembles the wild, wild west. And the rollercoaster ride isn't likely to end anytime soon, so just let Farwell and Dan be your steady hands as we navigate this new landscape (trust us, we tried to get a hot take out of Dan this week and he wouldn't bite). The guys this week discuss how the tide has turned back in the OHL's direction, and the lengths that teams are going through to set themselves apart. Also, the Branch era in the OHL appears to have officially ended. Then, it's off to Oshawa where a strange coaching carousel continues to rotate and the marquee franchise pours cold water on sale rumours (remember what we always say about rumours in the OHL??). Finally, McCue is on the move again and the guys like the destination. But they don't like what happened to an old friend in the NHL. Send us feedback anytime to ohlpodcast@rogers.com and don't forget to follow us on Instagram (@theohlpodcast). The OHL Podcast is supported by Draft Kings Sportsbook.

There are many rule changes for the NCAA and its member schools that will impact college athletics for years to come.
