The Sports Experience Podcast with Chris Quinn and Dominic DiTolla
Episode 301 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we're back on the hardwood discussing one of the NBA's most exciting players of the 1990s, Larry Johnson. After an incredible high school career in Dallas, many believed Johnson was headed towards a superstar career at SMU. However, controversy regarding his SAT scores caused Johnson to enroll at Odessa College for his first two post-high school seasons.Johnson dominated the competition, and was the first player to ever win the NJCAA Player of the Year award twice! He then enrolled at UNLV and spent the next two seasons dominating the highest level of college basketball. In 1989-1990, he helped the Runnin' Rebels win the NCAA Title. In 1990-1991, Johnson won the Wooden & Naismith Awards and led his team to the Final Four.Blessed with an amazing combination of size, strength, agility and shooting ability, Johnson selected as the 1st Overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets.Johnson won the 1991-1992 NBA Rookie of the Year award, made the All-Star team in two of the next three seasons, helped establish the Hornets as a contender in the Eastern Conference and won a gold medal as part of “The Dream Team II” at the FIBA World Cup. He even popularized himself with his advertisements for Converse which featured him as “Grandmama!”Sadly, a back injury sustained during the 1993-1994 season limited Johnson through the rest of his career. Though he still was able to play at a high level as both a Small and Power Forward, he was not as dominant as he was projected to be after his first two seasons. In addition, a fallout with Alonzo Mourning and Charlotte led to his trade to the New York Knicks in 1996.Despite the injury and falling out with Charlotte, Johnson improved his outside game and even helped the Knicks make the NBA Finals in 1999.Watch, Subscribe & Comment on All Platforms:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast/the-sports-experience-podcast-with-chris-quinn/id1529622054Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1esgBLz04MZYrTgYMk5DvaConnect with us on Instagram!Chris Quinn: https://www.instagram.com/cquinncomedy/Dominic DiTolla: https://www.instagram.com/ditolladominic/Ty Engle:https://www.instagram.com/ty_englestudio/S.E.P.: https://www.instagram.com/thesportsexperiencepodcast/If you enjoy our podcast, please help support us:https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-sports-experience-pod/support#sportspodcast#comedypodcast#nba#basketball#unlvrunninrebels#charlottehornets#newyorkknicks

This week MJ and Jackie are droppin' Page 7 SANS GUEST, because ain't NO ONE ELSE INVITED TO THIS BESTIE SLUMBA PARTAH!! MJ wanted to watch 'Baby Girl', but Gideon wasn't in the mood so they turned up the heat with an even sexier 'Baby Girl'....Nathan Fielder. Father's Day weekend came and went with both MJ and Jackie having noticed there appears to be no songs about dads that aren't sad dad or sexy dad, MJ remembers catalogues from yesteryear full of items that you could never possibly afford, and then talk 'bout the risin' trend of "raw doggin" everyday life; including Rob Lowe's recent gym workout. The book "Spare" by Prince Harry is possibly making Meghan Markle too humanized and now we're RUNNIN' OUT OF CELEBRITIES TO MAKE FUN OF UGH, Legolas seems to be preparing for a not so Unexpected Journey, and he did NOT want Katy to go to space. Jackie and MJ prove they're Sally Ride or Dies with a shoutout to the departed astronaut and her partner, who finally got permission to reveal their relationship 10 days before passing. For better or worse Sabrina Carpenter is makin' waves with her new albums PR campaign, and Jackie says 'Dangerous Animals' is great, despite not being about a hybrid shark man murderer, Jackie wants to talk about 'The Materialist', but it's full of spoilers so it's comin' after Jackie's Snackies! THEN WE GOT A LIST of '12 Musicians Who Tried Acting and FLOOOOPPPEEEDDD' (Thanks for THE LIST, Steven!), the Blindz, and Jackie's Snackies from 1:08:25.197 - 1:15:06.559 with MJ's Minute Munchies @ 1:12:04.469 AND

In this week's episode, Allen is coming to you straight from the field...literally. He and his good friend Atlee Lambright loaded up their dogs, a few nice T-bone steaks, and headed out into Atlee's field to not only let their dogs loose, but the conversation was just as loose and free as the dogs. They talk about everything from Atlee's marathon accomplishments, the type of grass he planned in his field, their mutual love of hunting, Michigan's Upper Peninsula and everything in between...again, literally. So, sit back, relax, maybe grill a few steaks to get in the mood, and listen to the sounds of two hunters completely in their element.
