Survivor legend and longtime Philadelphia sports fan Gervase Peterson visits the Jack Vita Show to preview Super Bowl LVII, talk Philly sports, and reflect on his time on reality television. Back in 2000, Gervase competed on the first season of Survivor, Survivor: Borneo. It was a national phenomenon. 53 million people tuned in to the show's season finale, where Richard Hatch was awarded the million dollar prize. The show was such a huge success. It laid the groundwork for the franchise to create 42 more seasons, and counting, as Survivor has been on the air for over 22.5 years. Cast members from the first season became household names overnight, rubbing elbows with A-list celebrities at red carpet events. Gervase discusses his time on Survivor and what the ride was like after the show aired. What drew him to Survivor, what was his strategy, and why didn't the Pagong tribe come out on top of Tagi? Gervase shares how he formed an alliance on Pagong, but was unable to get his tribe to vote together after the merge. Gervase also tells the story of how Pagong tried to vote out Jeff Probst at their very first tribal council! Later, Gervase discusses his Philadelphia sports fandom. The Phillies are coming off their first World Series appearance since 2009, and the Eagles will be playing against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday. It's the first time that both the Eagles and Phillies have played for a championship in the same year since 1980; and only the second time in Philadelphia history. Gervase previews the Super Bowl and talks some NFL. He shares his thoughts on the 2022 Eagles, led by Jalen Hurts and his prediction for the big game. Gervase talks Phillies, 76ers and Flyers, while he's at it. 13 years after competing on Survivor: Borneo, Gervase returned to Survivor, competing on the show's 27th season, Survivor: Blood vs. Water. Gervase finished third on Blood vs. Water, surviving all 39 days, but coming up short of the million dollar prize. Gervase talks about what it was like coming out of retirement and returning to reality television. It's an episode you won't want to miss!
At camp, the remaining members of the former Pagong tribe felt vulnerable because the Tagi tribe had voted out their leader, Gretchen. Jenna decided her best move was to get closer to the other women, all of whom were Tagi members. She put her plan into action and seemed to sway Susan who at first thought Jenna was going to be really annoying. Richard started to worry about who voted for him at Tribal Council. As Tagi and Pagong prepare to merge into one tribe, both teams are looking to the future, but not all of them will make it there. We talk about the capitol riots, no fly lists, Ted Cruz being a homie, tactical PR, writing off beer, piss pig economics, and how that relates to the next season of Survivor: STOP THE STEAL. Stacey's departure seems to have brought peace to Tagi, she can go back to being a landlord in San Francisco. Susan feels some people still could work harder, and I’m sorry Susan but who gives a shit? Across at Pagong, Ramona feels left out probably because rice makes her throw up but eating rats somehow changed her life. Greg has developed an odd penchant for pretending to talk on the phone showing that he is, in fact, a baby. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Pagong are growing weary of BB's bossy and domineering attitude. Nick and Henry are tired of the fact that he’s a CIA asset. Greg and Colleen begin to get friendly and frankly it’s disgusting. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Yes, we were looking forward to the start of the jury and corresponding Ponderosa videos, but we are really bumfuzzled by the vote out tonight. Outside of the general desire to Pagong the Healers, how does this make sense given the other choice they had? Despite the confusion, we did enjoy the episode and look forward to the surprises episode nine will bring. Will the majority alliance hold together long enough to finish off the Healers? What's the best way to bust up the Heroes and the Hustlers? Who will be the first to use their HII? How would you use the Secret Advantage that Lauren received? Who do you think is playing the best now? Who do you think will be next to go? Here is the merged tribe after episode 8. Special guest Alanis Morissette joins us this week as we watch Survivor Season 1 Episode 7: ‘The Merger’. Gretchen is in a funk that can only be remedied with Richard’s baby blues. Sean and Jenna go on a romantic date that is sadly lacking in machetes, and Greg feels like Ms. America. Will the new Ratana tribe be a Borneo paradise, or a Pagong slaughterhouse? Stay tuned to find out! Mr. Rodgers… The man can wear a sweater.
We chat to Gretchen Cordy from the 1st season of Borneo about why she nearly pulled out from the game before filming started, which Pagong member nearly quit the game only days into it as well as dishing the dirt on some long standing Borneo rumours and dishing the dirt on what type of mischief her and Greg got up to after they were voted out of the game
