With the on-again, off-again tariffs and total economic sh*tstorm, one wonders why anyone ever thought Donald Trump had any economic sense. That's because Mark Burnett transformed the six-time bankruptcy declaring tabloid star into a successful businessman character on the “reality” show The Apprentice. On today's episode of Strange Country, cohosts Beth and Kelly talk about the ultimate deception that led over 70 million Americans to give the keys to a chaos agent for a second time. The Art of Making Things Happen (Bluefishing) Steve Sims

In this thought-provoking episode of Steve's Rants, Steve Sims delves into a common entrepreneurial question: "What would you do if you were broke tomorrow?" Steve explores this scenario from two angles—what you could do if you have existing assets and relationships versus starting from scratch with nothing but your determination and curiosity. He emphasizes the importance of relationships as the true currency in today's world of distrust and misinformation. Steve advocates for leveraging these relationships in times of need, highlighting that real equity may not lie in your bank account but in your ability to reach out and request help from your network. For those who may find themselves without established connections, Steve advises embedding yourself into environments and circles that align with your aspirations, even if it means starting at the bottom. He shares the journeys of notable figures like Mark Burnett and Simon Cowell, illustrating how entering the right "sandpit" can lead to powerful growth and opportunities. Throughout his discussion, Steve underscores the need to continually assess and adapt your skillset in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, warning against complacency as industries face disruption. His message is clear: stay aggravated, stay curious, and harness that drive to create momentum toward your goals. This episode offers invaluable advice for entrepreneurs navigating uncertain times and highlights the critical role of adaptability and relationship-building in achieving lasting success.

SEASON 3 EPISODE 81: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: To paraphrase Van Jones and other panderers: This was the weekend Elon Musk truly became president. It was also the weekend the other guy became Donald J. Trumpuppet. The number of Republicans who defied Trump over the Continuing Resolution ranges, depending on your point of view, from 29 to ALL of them. Because they also voted by unanimous consent to bury Musk's fabricated controversy over the no-cost land transfer to the District of Columbia. Trump, for his part, is in a bigger hole now than he ever was during his presidency as the self-inflicted losses pile up: The Gaetz Lack-of-Ethics Report may come out today. Other nominations are in trouble. One new one may be Alan Dershowitz and another may have padded his resume. The idea of Recess Appointments is forgotten. Trump has been taunted with the "Musk Is President" chatter. Some Republicans are taking it seriously and suggesting him for Speaker. And that in turn let Democrats emphasize Trump tanked the deal to benefit his interests with the Chinese Communist Party. And Trump spoke yesterday for the first time in weeks and sounded drunk - which is a problem, because he doesn't drink. All while he is being pursued by his two worst enemies: himself - and Musk. B-BLOCK (27:00) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Remember my suggestion that MSNBC's response to Trump's win and its own tanking ratings was to do nothing but double down and exploit the Liberal Media Monopoly the cowards at CNN, The Washington Post and others were giving them? Guess what! MSNBC's new boss wants... better relationships with Republicans. (40:56) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Martin Shrkeli emerged from his sewer to get owned on social media, New York sends a bill for damages to the family of a guy a police officer killed with an unmarked car, and are there secret Mark Burnett Trump Outtake Tapes? Don't ask Burnett - he now works for Trump. C-BLOCK (50:20) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: You have your Christmas story, I have mine. Mine is about falling off a cliff near Malibu filming a commercial for fast-food chicken. Stick around for the post-closing theme guest appearance Easter eggs courtesy some of my dogs.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Noel Casler spent two decades working behind the scenes at live events as a celebrity handler, with such stars as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and many others. Other finalists this season included teammate Josh Sanders from Team Reba, Bryan Olesen and Nathan Chester from Team Legend, and Karen Waldrup from Team Dan + Shay. In his Blind Audition, HaVon showed off his gospel choir roots with a powerful rendition of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain," which had Reba, Chance and Dan + Shay campaigning for him. He ultimately chose to join Team Reba, where he and teammate Alyssa Crosby performed a rousing duet of Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)" during the Battle Round. In the Knockout round, he had all the coaches on their feet during a showstopping performance of Toni Braxton's "Unbreak My Heart." During both rounds, Reba chose HaVon to move on while his teammates were quickly stolen by other coaches. During the Playoffs, HaVon gave the audience chills with an emotional rendition of David Guetta and Sia's "Titanium," securing a spot in the Top 12. In the first live show, he performed "I'll Make Love to You" by Boyz II Men, wowing with his technical ability. During the semifinals, HaVon joined Madison Curbelo and Serenity Arce for a haunting trio performance of "Fix You" by Coldplay and then stepped outside his comfort zone with his version of Beyoncé's massive hit "Irreplaceable." On Monday night's telecast, HaVon continued to impress the coaches and viewers alike with an up-tempo live performance of "Last Dance" by Donna Summer as well as a down-tempo performance of "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. Before being crowned the winner at the conclusion of tonight's finale, HaVon was joined on stage by coach Reba McEntire for a soulful duet of "On My Own," by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald. Following her first win, coach Reba McEntire will return to "The Voice" Season 26 as the reigning champ, alongside new coaches Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé and returning coach Gwen Stefani. HaVon's presence on the show's social media platforms this season garnered immense popularity. His performances accumulated 11.6 million views across "The Voice" pages on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube. Growing up in Selma, HaVon was surrounded by gospel singers. Asher's mom, whom he likes to call his singing sergeant, really pushed him to sing at a young age. His first major performance came in 2015 when President Obama came to Selma for a speech commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery in honor of African-American civil rights. As parents, we want more than anything to help our kids thrive, to protect them from pain and harm, and avoid some, or maybe all, of the mistakes we made in our own lives. But what happens when our kids are struggling with really big, difficult, and scary, maybe even life-threatening, stuff? And none of our efforts to “fix” things are making a difference? That's the focus of today's show and I am absolutely thrilled to be in conversation about it with Kristina Kuzmic, a mental health advocate, author, comedien and self-described “cheerleader for her fellow humans.” Kristina has just come out with a powerful new book I Can Fix This! (And Other Lies I've Told Myself while Parenting My Struggling Child), in which she writes about her complex journey of parenting a child struggling with mental health and substance abuse. She wrote it to help other struggling parents reject ideas that keep families stuck and, with her trademark authenticity and wisdom, dispel the lies we believe as parents. This is SUCH a deep, raw, and generous conversation and it is exactly the conversation a parent feeling hopeless and overwhelmed in figuring out how to help their child needs to hear. Truly balm for the soul.   About Kristina Kuzmic After immigrating to America from Croatia during the war in her homeland, and later facing more challenges (divorce, single parenting, poverty, mental health challenges), Kristina's goal became clear: to be for others what she needed when she was at her lowest. In 2011, when Oprah crowned Kristina the winner of Mark Burnett's reality TV competition “Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star,” Oprah said, “What is that THING…that's so charming and charismatic and connected to the audience that makes you feel like, ‘I know her, I want to be her, I'm like her'… Kristina has all of that. She is an ‘IT PLUS' girl… I wanna watch her!” Since working with Oprah, Kristina has branched out on her own, creating videos about juggling all of life's challenges, and encouraging her audience to prioritize their mental health. She has quickly become a viral sensation with 2.9 million Facebook followers, over 670,000 Instagram followers, and more than a billion video views. Kristina's first book, Hold On But Don't Hold Still has been translated to seven languages. Her second book, I Can Fix This! (And Other Lies I've Told Myself while Parenting My Struggling Child) was released in May 2024.   Get Exclusive NordVPN deal here → https://nordvpn.com/tilt - It's risk-free with Nord's 30-day money-back guarantee! I decide to drop the episode early because I wanted to cover Kate Middleton, Princess Catherine's cancer announcement, and at the end of this episode I covered some of the sound bite highlights from the TMZ Special - Where is Kate Middleton that came out on Thursday March 21 that Piers Morgan and Princess Diana's butler said. I complained about it and I thought it was still relevant. On Ep 175, we start off by talking about Princess Catherine‘s news about her cancer, which devastates me. We move on to RHOBH, AnneMarie Wiley, and some behind-the-scenes tea that I use her fired statement to tell you. We move on to Alex Baskin and some news on why some of your shows might be changing and also share some gossip with you about Mark Burnett, Evolution, RHOBH, RHOC, MGM, Selling Sunset, The Valley and Vanderpump Rules. Lastly, I finish it out with the highlight soundbites from the TMZ special, which obviously is going to be a little outdated now and land different, but I did think some of the things said were important to hear from Piers Morgan and Princess Diana's former Butler, so I still think the ending is important to this show. I am praying for Princess Catherine. Full-Time Dynamic Musician From Virginia Who Earned Four-Chair Turn Will Perform at this weekend's Bills vs. Chargers Game, Streaming Exclusively on Peacock Coach Niall Horan Goes Undefeated and Takes “Voice” Crown for Second Time UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – December 19, 2023 – Huntley, a 33-year-old soulful rock artist from Fredericksburg, Va., was named champion of “The Voice” Season 24 tonight. Huntley faced tough competition from the other finalists this season, including teammate Mara Justine from Team Niall, Lila Forde from Team Legend, and Ruby Leigh and Jacquie Roar from Team Reba. All five Season 24 finalists earned a four-chair turn during their blind auditions. In his blind audition, Huntley, known for his unique raspy voice, earned four chair turns from the coaches with his powerful performance of the Black Crowes' “She Talks to Angels,” which had coaches fighting for him. He ultimately chose to join Team Niall, where he and teammate Brailey Lenderman performed a duet of Hootie & the Blowfish's “Hold My Hand” during the battle rounds. For the ultra-competitive three-way knockout round, he did a showstopping performance of Bon Jovi's “Wanted Dead or Alive.” During the playoffs, Huntley performed an emotional rendition of David Kushner's “Daylight” to honor his daughter, which secured him a spot in the Top 12. In the first live show, he performed “With a Little Help From My Friends” by the Beatles, which earned him a spot in the semifinals. The following week, Huntley joined Lila Ford and Mac Royals for a haunting trio performance of “exile” by Taylor Swift featuring Bon Iver, and then wowed with the crowd-pleaser “Way Down We Go” by KALEO. On Monday night's telecast, Huntley continued to impress the coaches and viewers alike with an up-tempo live performance of “Higher” by Creed as well as a down-tempo performance of “Another Love” by Tom Odell. Before being crowned the winner during tonight's finale, Huntley was joined on stage by coach Niall Horan for a heartfelt duet of “Knockin' on Heaven's Door” by Bob Dylan. Huntley's presence on the show's social media platforms this season garnered immense popularity, with his performances accumulating 46.6 million views across "The Voice" pages on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube. Huntley was singing and impersonating Elvis by the time he was 4, and at 14 wanted to pursue music. After two years of college, he moved to Nashville but didn't find the success he had imagined. After falling out of love with the music grind, he moved back home to Virginia. In 2016, Huntley welcomed his daughter and five years later welcomed his son. He never had a relationship with his own father, which motivated him to be very involved in his kids' lives. Since 2022, Huntley has found success as a booking agent for musicians. Now that music is coming back into his life, he's been a full-time musician gigging five times a week all over Virginia. Fresh off his win, Huntley will perform at this weekend's Buffalo Bills vs. Los Angeles Chargers game, streaming exclusively on Peacock with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. He will kick off the game with a rendition of the National Anthem and put on a special halftime performance. “The Voice” is the most-watched unscripted entertainment broadcast series this season and is averaging 8.4 million viewers across all platforms (L7). “The Voice” is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as an executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson and Adam H. Sher. Most people would probably say “Yes” immediately if someone agreed to pay them a million dollars for spending time on an island. But what if you had to undergo challenges like eating beetle larvae, and be judged by a jury of your peers in order to get the money? Oh, also, finding a place to poop is not fun.
