The way a Christian lives should showcase who he/she is in Christ. Christians should understand their calling as missionaries who live out what they say they believe. A Christian’s true identity is found in the eternal appointment of a sovereign God. God’s people are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying action of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus and to be sprinkled with his blood. When Peter considered God’s mercy in being born again, he knew that the motive for God’s work is found in Him, not in us. We are born again to “a living hope” because we have eternal life in a Savior who has conquered death Himself. It’s a "living hope" because it’s tied to the resurrection. Through His great mercy God has caused Christians to be “born again” to an inheritance that is "imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you”. But it's not only the inheritance that's being kept - Christians are as well. The power that keeps the inheritance reserved for Christians is the same power that keeps Christians reserved for the inheritance.

Today, Pastor Marc Sharp continues the series about "What We Believe" by looking at what scripture says about God, the Father, the first person of the Trinity. The challenge this week is to distinguish the person of the Father within the Triune God when we see the terms “God” or “The Lord” in the Bible.

All true believers accept the actual, physical resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead as historical fact. The resurrection has as much credibility as any other event in all of recorded history. By his rising we are commissioned to proclaim his good news authoritatively and expand the reach of his kingdom. Because he lives, we can rest in the promise that death truly has no power over us and that we will one day rise just like he did and join him forever!

This morning we will begin a new series. We will see the fact that we have been chosen by God to transform our current mind set and cause us to look with great expectancy to our future in heaven.
