Why Praise Is So ImportantPsalm 103:22 “I will bless and praise the Lord with my whole heart! Let all his works throughout the earth, wherever his dominion stretches—let everything bless the Lord!”My top 3 favorite topics to talk about are praise, forgiveness, and God's love, not necessarily in that order. These are my favorites because I think they are some of the most important. God has really been showing me over the last few years how important praise is to Him. He often gives us a word of prophecy at our prayer group that talks about how much He loves that we come together to praise Him each week. Here is one example from June 2025: “Praise me with your whole heart and soul. I long to know you from the depths of your very being. Sing praises to me, for I am your God who loves you.”He has also been telling me over the last few years that praise is a big part of the reason I have been able to grow in my faith so much and that I am able to trust so much. When I ask what I am doing differently, He tells me that I am praising more. I am praising God, not just when I feel like it, and not just when all things are going my way. I am praising God every single day, whether it is a good day or a bad day. I actually praise Him more on bad days sometimes because listening to praise music can help me change my mood.If you have not discovered any really good praise music, go to Spotify and search through Christian music. My mentor, Pamela Crim, put together an awesome playlist called The Big Life Mornings playlist. It is a public playlist on Spotify, and if you type "Big Life Mornings" into the search, it will come up. I also have one called “Walk Boldly With Jesus Favorites,” which you can also find on Spotify. Some of my favorite artists, in case you are not into playlists, include for King and Country, Lauren Daigle, Elevation Worship, Phil Wickham, TobyMac, Cory Asbury, and so many more on that playlist. There are several reasons that I recommend you find some great Christian music that you like.First, listening to Christian music has helped me learn even more about how much God loves me. I have included some of my favorite songs in various episodes over the years. However, if you have not heard the song Reckless Love by Cory Asbury, you are really missing out. If you do not use Spotify, you can check out YouTube as well. There is actually a playlist on my channel, “WalkBodlyWithJesus”, on YouTube called Prayer Group, and it is a great list of praise songs. It would be a great place to start. Whether you are on Spotify or YouTube, you can save songs to a playlist and listen to it whenever you need to.Another reason I recommend you find some good Christian music is that it can change your mood or your focus. Anytime we are anxious, angry, scared, mad, frustrated, or any other feeling, it is because of the story we are telling ourselves. If we are anxious, we are probably focusing on what may or may not happen. If we are angry or frustrated, we might be looking at a situation we can't change. Listening to this music can help shift our focus from our problems, our worries, and our situation to our God. There is a saying that says that instead of looking at how big our problems are, we can focus on how big our God is. Music can help us do this. If you are listening to songs about how God is a miracle worker and a way-maker, it shifts your focus and helps you praise God in tough times.A third reason I recommend listening to praise music is that it fills your head with God. God will be on your mind more because the things you listen to become the thoughts in your head. Have you ever noticed that when you hang around someone a lot, you start to talk like them? This is because you spend so much time with them and constantly hear how they talk, so your brain picks it up. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what they are saying. When I first learned this, I was discouraged because the people in my house, with whom I spent the most time, were very negative and used very bad language. I did not want to start talking like they did. I needed to figure out a way to surround myself with different voices. This is when I started listening to Christian podcasts and found more Christian music. Imagine if you were listening to songs each day that talk about how much God loves us, how much He forgives us, and who God is. If you are hearing this over and over again, these will be the thoughts that fill your mind, and these will be the thoughts that come to your mind in times of trouble.I feel I could go on and on about why I love listening to praise music. However, I will end with this last point. Praising God helps us become more grateful people. I know sometimes it doesn't feel like we have much reason to praise God. It is not as if my life has been perfect over the last few years; that is why I have been able to praise God. I have had some really difficult times over these past few years, actually over the past 20 years. There have been lots of ups and downs in my marriage and in my parenting. My kids have really struggled over the years, and there have been several times that I could have gotten really depressed and lost hope. However, I didn't, and I truly believe it was because I have learned to praise God even in the hard times. I was able to do this because there are so many songs out there about people who have made it through really dark times, and God brought them through to the other side. I was able to do this because the thoughts in my mind from constantly listening to praise music are that God is there for me, He will always be there for me, and He can make a way where there is no way.God is so good. He is there for us in good times and bad. There is always a reason to praise Him. When we are in a tough time and can't find a reason, we can look back on all the times He has provided for us in the past. We can look forward to all the good things He will bring from this hard time. We can look at all the beauty around us and praise Him for that. You don't have to praise God for your situation; you can praise Him for other things. If you want to, you can praise Him for the good that will come from your situation at a later date because we know God can use all things for our good. (Romans 8:28) I challenge all of you to begin to praise God more, and then let me know if you find that your trust in Him is also growing. I know it did for me, and I know I am not the only one. It can help you trust more, too. If you are in a season when praising God seems too difficult because of your circumstances, find some good Christian music to listen to and let it praise God for you while you listen. It will change your life, I am sure of it.Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless each person listening to this today. Lord, I ask that each person listen and find some music that praises you that they really like. There are so many different genres of Christian music out there, and I pray that each person who listens finds the ones that make their heart happy. Lord, I pray they find songs that fill their soul. I pray this music helps us to praise you when we don't feel we can. I pray this music helps us to shift our focus from our problems to you and how big you are. Lord, help us to find that music that speaks to our hearts, minds, and souls. We want to praise you, Lord, please show us how. We love you, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen!Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. Christmas is a time of joy and happiness, or at least we try to make it so. Singing Christmas songs can be one of those fun ways to celebrate. But what makes the season truly joyful is when we look to the Lord and live His teaching. When we do those two things then the fun of all the other aspects can be deepened and enriched spiritually.
In today's Friday Focus episode, Malachi Herbster sits down with Evangelist David Corn to discuss avenues of gospel ministry. David Corn shares his burden for his own ministry on his website:1. My burden is to preach the gospel to unreached people and see them get saved! My heart is broken about people on their way to hell, and I want to spend my life leading as many people to Christ as possible! Romans 15:20 reads, “Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation.” The public schools are a special heartbeat of mine because so many young people do not know about Christ!2. My burden is to see people added to the church like in Acts 2. Acts 2:41 reads, “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” Verse 47 reads, “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” We pray that God uses us to see people join Bible-believing, fundamental, independent, local New Testament Baptist churches!3. My burden is to see believers become soul-winners. Matthew 28:18-20 is still in the Bible, reading, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” If believers are not trying to win souls, then they are out of God's will!4. My burden is to see believers learn to live the Spirit-filled life. I am still learning this myself, but what God has taught me so far is life-changing! We need to learn how to depend on Christ, grow in faith, and look to God to work in our lives! John 15:4 reads, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”//*Burden taken from Evangelist David Corn's website
As we know, to practice is to rehearse a behavior repeatedly, for the purpose of learning and eventually mastering a skill. Learning to praise God is no different. In the practice we often uncover things about ourselves that we didn't know – perhaps its our distain for discipline or maybe we don't like expressing ourselves in an outward manner. Praising God is a posture of the heart. If we practice praising Him, we will be surprised at the ease in which we turn to Him this way, when things are difficult, and praise seems an unlikely response. Listen and then, yes, practice it. Segment 1 • The #1 song on the charts is AI-generated. • Can something that a machine created truly be considered worship? • Worship isn't simply content… it's communion with a personal God. Segment 2 • AI music might seem slick— but it lacks true soul. • You wouldn't watch robots play football… so why let them lead worship? • AI sermons may soon multiply, but authentic worship can't be automated. Segment 3 • Praising God with stuff your computer wrote is laziness, not worship. • “AI worship” exposes how shallow modern Christianity and the western church is becoming. • Our secular culture is trying to tell us that “climate change denial” is a spiritual issue. Segment 4 • Government handouts are not the fruits of the Spirit. • If generosity is required by the government, it's no longer truly generous or charitable. • True giving flows from a renewed heart, not from legislation. ___ Thanks for listening! What if justice isn't just a virtue but a window into God's heart? We open Isaiah 61:8–11 and 62:2–4 to explore how authentic righteousness takes root in everyday life, why performative goodness falls short, and how God's everlasting covenant in Christ reframes our identity. From the warning against “robbery for burnt offering” to the comfort of being clothed in salvation, we trace a path from duty to delight. Where doing the right thing becomes both worship and wisdom. We talk about pain, scars and witness. Our stories of pain, carried with humility, can point others to hope without glorifying hurt. Isaiah's vision of a new name, no longer Forsaken or Desolate, meets real life in small acts of integrity that neighbors and even skeptics can see. Consistent obedience, quiet honesty, and a steady refusal to chase the shiny hooks of the world make our faith, and our witness, visible in workplaces, homes, and streets. We also savor the simple strength of community. Inspired by Acts 2:46–47, we reflect on breaking bread with glad hearts, sharing what we have, and letting joy spread around the table. This is where doctrine meets dinner; a lived theology that feeds bodies and souls, invites the lonely, and turns gratitude into a habit. If you're hungry for a faith that shows, not just tells, press play and join us at the table. Then share this episode with someone who needs encouragement.Subscribe, leave a review, and tell us: where have you seen quiet righteousness change the room?===Isaiah 61:8-118 For I the Lord love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed.10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.Isaiah 62:2-4a2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate:Acts 2:46-4746 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. What if your praise could change everything? In this sermon, Pastor Darrell Blair shares the truth from 2 Chronicles 20:22 on how the men of Judah defeated the enemy as they began to sing and praise God. He emphasizes that when we give intentional praise, our perspective can shift, positions can change, and God's promises can be unlocked. Praising God can intentionally lead to breakthroughs, deliverance, and miracles. Worship goes beyond circumstances. Praise can be a weapon for spiritual warfare. Remember that we can always worship God through challenges. Sermon Scriptures: 2 Chronicles 20:22 We stream live every Sunday at 11 am and every Wednesday at 8 pm. Some days weigh heavy, even without a clear reason. A rainy morning, a long to-do list, or unexpected interruptions can dim our spirits. As our daily prayer and devotional remind us, the psalmist’s words in Psalm 42:5 show that these feelings are not new—God’s people have always wrestled with discouragement. Yet the invitation is the same: place your hope in God and choose to praise Him. Even when joy feels far away, praise becomes a doorway to hope. Praising God for His faithfulness, His sovereignty, and His nearness redirects our hearts from gloom to light. Whether our struggles are monumental or seemingly minor, we can experience His joy when we lift our eyes to Him. Today's Bible Reading: "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." – Psalm 42:5 Key Takeaways Discouragement doesn’t always have a clear cause—but God is our steady hope in every circumstance. Psalm 42:5 calls us to actively place our hope in God and praise Him even when we don’t feel like it. Praise shifts our perspective, reminding us that God holds every detail of our days. Joy is not dependent on ideal circumstances but on God’s unchanging character. Let’s Pray Together Father God, You are my hope and joy. On the days when my spirit feels heavy and my contentment slips away, remind me to place my hope in You. Help me to praise You in every circumstance—whether the valley is deep or the clouds are temporary. Thank You for being my Savior, my constant, and my sovereign God. Today and every day, I choose to praise You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Calls to Action Begin your morning by naming three things you can praise God for today. When discouragement rises, read Psalm 42 aloud as a prayer. Share this devotion with a friend who may be walking through a difficult or weary season. Thank you for your partnership with us through Project23. Your commitment is helping deliver God's Word with clarity and conviction. This one's for you. Our text today is Judges 5:1–3. Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day: “That the leaders took the lead in Israel, that the people offered themselves willingly, bless the LORD! Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes; to the LORD I will sing; I will make melody to the LORD, the God of Israel.” — Judges 5:1-3 When was the last time you saw a leader praise God before taking praise for a win? The battlefield dust hasn't even settled. The clanging swords are silent. Israel's enemies are scattered. And before anyone can draft a victory speech, Deborah and Barak break out in a song. This isn't casual background music. It's a public, God-centered anthem that shouts two things: Thank God for leaders who lead. Thank God for people who show up. It's a simple truth — leadership matters, but so does followership. Without both, God's purposes in Israel would've stalled. And here's the key: they didn't just acknowledge the human effort; they blessed the Lord. The victory belonged to Him from start to finish. We live in a culture quick to applaud human achievement and slow to give God the glory. Leaders often claim the credit. Followers sometimes forget who carried them through. But the rhythm of the Kingdom is different: leaders lead with humility, followers serve with willingness, and both make God the hero of the story. If you lead — lead in such a way that your first instinct after a win is to point up, not in. If you follow — do it with a willing spirit that makes God's work visible. When leaders lead and people willingly follow, God's name gets lifted higher, and the ripple of His glory moves farther. ASK THIS: When God has given you a victory, do you stop to praise Him before moving on? Are you more naturally a leader or a follower, and how can you honor God in that role? How can you cultivate willingness rather than reluctance in service to God? What's one leadership moment in your life where God got the glory instead of you? DO THIS: Today, thank one leader in your life for their godly influence — and let them know you're praying for their humility and courage. PRAY THIS: Father, thank You for leaders who lead and followers who serve with joy. Teach me to give You the glory in every win and to step willingly into the role You've given me. Amen. PLAY THIS: "All Glory."
From Psalm 139:7–24, we discover that God's presence fills all of creation — there is nowhere we can go where He is not. His nearness brings comfort, conviction, and a call to deeper devotion and holiness. The post Praising God For His Providence appeared first on Caz Church.

In this episode of Chai Beauty, I reflect on how the When You Pray Bible study reshaped the way I approach prayer. Instead of only petitioning God for what I need, I've learned the importance of admiration—confessing who God is: provisional, personal, a giver, and good. Through scriptures like Psalm 139 and Philippians 4, I share how worship, gratitude, and reverence have deepened my prayer life and helped me see God's goodness even in sorrow. We'll explore:The difference between petition, thanksgiving, and admiration in prayerThe four truths about who God isWhy worship and reverence matter in building faithHow the Holy Spirit quietly guides us with truthLearning to see problems as bumps, not endingsUsing the spiritual tools God has already given us
