Dr. Rob Chisholm, Pastor
What are you spending your most precious commodity on? In a world obsessed with accumulation and consumption, there's one resource none of us can create more of – time. Jesse Cope challenges listeners to examine how they allocate this irreplaceable gift, particularly when it comes to relationships with God and family. The uncomfortable truth is that many of us claim we "don't have time" for meaningful connection while spending hours scrolling, streaming, and consuming content. We prioritize "me time" over the spouse we vowed to cherish and the children who desperately need our attention. This misalignment between stated values and actual behavior creates a template our children will either embrace or reject.Drawing from 1 Peter, Jesse reminds us that believers are "aliens" in this world – temporary residents behind enemy lines with an urgent mission. The persistent emptiness we feel despite worldly pleasures points to our design for something beyond this temporary existence. Our purpose isn't comfort or assimilation but reclaiming souls before our departure. The conversation shifts to America's Christian heritage, examining founding documents from the Mayflower Compact to the Constitution. Despite revisionist attempts to secularize our history, over 90% of Constitutional Convention delegates identified as Christians, with biblical references woven throughout our governmental foundation. How will you spend your remaining moments on this earth? Will your spouse and children want to replicate your example? Will you prioritize eternal values over temporary pleasures? The clock is ticking – what will you do with the time you've been given?Support the showThe American Soul Podcasthttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1791934/subscribe
When we think about suffering, we typically think of persecution. But suffering for the cause of Christ is when we deny ourselves in the flesh in order to be more like Christ. If we are not suffering for Christ each day how do we know that we love Him? In this episode, Pastor Taylor starts a series on suffering in 1 Peter.Get Connected! https://linktr.ee/reachtulsa

Pastor Rick Cornejo 1 Peter 1:8-12 | Searched by Prophets, Celebrated by Angels On this Palm Sunday, Pastor Rick takes us deep into the grace of our salvation—a gift searched for by the prophets, celebrated by angels, and now experienced by us through Jesus Christ. From 1 Peter 1:8–12, we explore how the Old Testament prophets, especially Isaiah, longed to understand the coming of the Messiah. We reflect on Isaiah 53, where Christ's suffering and victory were foretold with stunning clarity. Though Isaiah could only glimpse, we now see the cross and the empty tomb in full color. Whether you're walking through hardship or just need a reminder of the hope we have in Christ, this message reminds us: salvation is a free gift of grace—impossible to earn, but ours to enjoy. Peter introduces himself and sets the tone for the rest of the letter he writes to the general Church.
This series continues the themes of Peter (and the early Church)'s story from Acts. A few decades on, the mission has become even more challenging as local and empirical persecution is on the rise. Peter centers the Christian hope in this: the truth about the identity of the Church, and the Way of Jesus as a continued witness in difficult times. The Gospel mission is an invitation into this glorious identity, and the ongoing hope for those on mission in this broken world is to remember and continually embrace the identity they've been invited into.

When gold is refined, the first step is melting it so it becomes pure. In our continuing study of 1 Peter, we're reminded that every trial we face is good and allowed by God for a similar processone that refines us and purifies our hearts.
We're living in an amazing timein the valley between two mountain peaks, as Dr. McGee describes it. One peak represents the suffering of Jesus Christ, which is past, and the other peak is the glory of Jesus Christ, which is yet in the future. Find out why this time is so special, and how the Holy Spirit is central to our lives.

Someday soon, Jesus Christ is coming again. That's the terrific reminder our , Dr. J. Vernon McGee, gives us as we discover the importance of trials in our lives and see how God uses them to bring us closer to Him.
Why do God's children suffer? Difficult question, isn't it? Fortunately, God's Word has a lot to say for those going through hard times. In this study, the apostle Peter addresses Christians who were facing all kinds of trials and reminds us how wonderful it is to be a child of the King.
Today's study brings us to a tough subjectin fact, Dr. J. Vernon McGee calls it difficult: The doctrine of election.
