“They were now on the way up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them. The disciples were filled with awe, and the people following behind were overwhelmed with fear. Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus once more began to describe everything that was about to happen to him.“Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die and hand him over to the Romans. They will mock him, spit on him, flog him with a whip, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again.”” (Mark 10:32–34 NLT-SE)

This Sunday, we will be looking at Joshua 1:12-18 as we ask the question of "togetherness?" It turns out that we are not the first nation or generation to struggle with the vortex of individualism and self-interest. It seems there is something very special in this text that I'm excited to explore together on Sunday.
Join the discussion as we examine how israel was called to enter into the promised land. How does this relate to how we enter into God's story? What might it require from us?
In this sermon, we explore the Book of Joshua, emphasizing the pivotal role of land in God's redemptive plan and the transition from wandering to settlement. Joshua’s historical narrative reveals God's ongoing plan for humanity, showing His faithfulness through transitional phases and the significance of the promised land as a symbol of His presence and blessing. The story highlights the unity of the Old and New Testaments, with Joshua foreshadowing Jesus, the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promises. Courage, as exemplified by Joshua, is shown as moving forward in faith despite fear, encouraging believers to trust in God’s guidance. The local church, as the body of Christ, shines God’s light in the world, demonstrating His love and righteousness, while the Holy Spirit empowers believers to embody and share the Kingdom of God, serving as a beacon of hope and grace in a dark world.

Many people want the courage of Joshua. But Joshua’s courage didn’t come from within himself. It came from knowing God and trusting in His promises!

How do you handle it when you're about to DO something you've NEVER done before? Is there a part of you that's anxious or afraid or uncertain? And how do you handle it when you're about to GO somewhere you've never been before? What questions run through YOUR mind? Will I succeed? Or will I fail? Will things work out? Or will I get crushed? Will these people like me? Will I fit it? Can I figure things out? It's a LOT to shoulder. But here's the thing about God and faith. If you follow God for any length of time, God will take you places you've never been before. Count on it. Expect it. (Perhaps even dread it a little.) In this message, Max Vanderpool teaches from Joshua 1 - and what's it like to find yourself in a place you've never been before.
In today's message Pastor Marc prepares the congregation of North Ridge to join with Flatland in the formation of Heritage Reformed Church. Joshua shows how trust in God gives us the courage to walk in His Promise in our life.

The secret to being fearless is having God’s presence in your life through consistent meditation on His Word
As Joshua was about to lead the people of Israel into the Promised Land, God gave him some very specific instructions. Those instructions for Joshua will work for us today. They center around getting ready, knowing God’s promises are still true and are for us today, knowing he will never leave us, and that meditation is more than just thinking, it is acting. This gives some very practical tips on how to use these instructions in your daily life today.
