Lord Jesus, thank You that Your presence does not depend on how strong we feel. You are with us when we feel confident, and You are with us when our hearts are trembling. We pray for people in the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan and South Africa. Meet each person in the reality of their morning. For someone facing a difficult conversation, give courage. For someone carrying responsibility, give strength. For someone afraid of what may happen, give the quiet assurance that they are not alone. You already know what is waiting for us, and You know the fears we may not have told anyone. When our confidence is low, remind us that Your presence is greater than what lies ahead. When we feel weak, strengthen us. When we are uncertain, help us take the next step with You rather than trying to understand everything at once. Whatever this moment looks like, stop for a moment and remember that God has not left you halfway through the day. Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” Father, thank You that Your presence does not depend on how strong we feel. When our confidence is low, You remain faithful. When our thoughts are unsettled, You remain steady. When we feel as though we have reached the end of our strength, You are still beside us. Lord Jesus, at this midday hour we pray for people and communities across Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Israel and Bahrain. Meet people who are carrying pressure at home, at work and within their communities. Bring wisdom to those making difficult decisions, peace to families under strain, comfort to those who are hurting, and courage to those who are wondering how they will get through the rest of this day. May people know that they are seen, remembered and never beyond Your reach. Holy Spirit, help us take one breath and one step at a time. We don't have to solve everything this afternoon. Before those thoughts become heavier, let's pause together and remember a promise that has encouraged God's people through every generation. The Lord has not stepped away from your life. He remains with you now, just as faithfully as He was when this day first began. So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. In today's episode of Embracing Your Season, Paige shares an interview from her recent trip to AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors) in Dallas, TX with author and advocate Sandy Kirkham. She currently serves on the board of the Council Against Child Abuse and works with survivors, conducting victim support conferences. Sandy's book, Let Me Prey Upon You, contains the vulnerable details of abuse she suffered at the hands of her youth pastor for 5 years and the aftermath she has been navigating for 27 years. While this story is neither happy nor concluded with legal justice, it is vitally important for parents to hear so they can be made aware of this all-too-common occurrence and the signs to look out for. Special Note: If you or someone you know has suffered abuse at the hands of someone in ministry, please know: it is NOT your fault, you are not alone, and there are so many resources available to you, several listed below.Paige's TakeawaysGo with your gut.As parents, along with the presence of the Holy Spirit, if something doesn't feel right - TRUST YOUR GUT. Ask questions and don't brush off that bad feeling.Talk to your kids about how it's hard to say “No” sometimes.Teach your kids that they are allowed to be critical thinkers and that they are allowed to say “no” in how their bodies are used (hugging, high fives, etc.) - but that you also understand it can be hard for them to say “no” to an adult, especially one they know, like, and respect. Remind them that they can ALWAYS talk to you about anything. What you bury, you carry.There is so much value in processing wounds. If you don't process and leave it in the dark, it will continue to affect you, most of the time compounding and intensifying. When you're ready to process, think about who is truly safe for you to talk to.
