Hello to you listening in Warsaw, Poland!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I am deeply proud of my Polish heritage and being a lawyer. These times are unprecedented; but especially for judges, the last line of freedom's defense. Attacks on the independence of the judiciary are sweeping our country taking various forms ranging from court capture to direct attacks on judges. The cowards behind the attacks know that the independence of judges - the judicial branch of government - is foundational to democracy.“Judicial independence is fundamental to the rule of law. The rule of law is fundamental to freedom. Freedom is fundamental to the protection of every citizen.” [John Macmenamin - Judge at the Supreme Court of Ireland]Those are not my words. Those are the words of John Macmenamin, a judge at the Supreme Court of Ireland who joined with Polish judges at the “1000 Robes March”, an unprecedented event held in the name of judicial independence.1000 Robes March was the greatest demonstration of judges in contemporary Europe, with more than 30,000 people, including hundreds of judges from 22 European countries marching in solidarity with their Polish colleagues in the fight for judicial independence. The silent march in January 2020 was a reaction to proposed laws that threatened to undermine the judiciary's independence in Poland. "A Thousand Robes" is a short (12 minute) documentary film directed by Kacper Lisowski. The story is about mutual gratitude, focusing on the positive interactions between judges, lawyers, and the public. It highlights citizens who are moved by the judges' defense of their rights and lawyers who have experienced solidarity from ordinary people and European judges. The film serves as a warning against what dismantling the democratic mechanisms of the state leads to.Documenting this touching episode of the dramatic struggle for the rule of law that still lacks a happy ending in Poland, Kacper Lisowski also talks to the European judges participating in the march of a thousand robes. Particularly poignant is the voice of a Turkish judge who knows from experience what happens when such a struggle is lost.Click HERE to watch A Thousand Robes the film on YouTube.CTA: Maybe like me you will be moved to tears at what We the People can accomplish when we heed a call to action. This is what democracy looks like! Take Hope! Take Heart! Take Courage from all the good work being done by our federal judges who are in solidarity with our Democracy, our Constitution, our rule of law without fear or favor! We should be courageous in testifying the facts of Christ, with confidence that God's plans will prevail even in the face of opposition.
Courage isn't a feeling, it's a decision rooted in belief. Too many of us wait for the right moment, the right emotion, or the right conditions to be bold—but that's not courage, that's convenience. Real courage is acting on faith before you feel it. Faith doesn't start with experience; it starts with belief that shapes behavior. What you believe will always determine how you behave. So don't wait for courage to rise up—walk in it now.

Since 2012, Reach has existed to “Be the Church and Reach the City” with the love of Jesus. As we conclude our season gathering at Northwest University, we consider again Jesus' Great Commission to us, and take courage in the fact that our witness doesn't begin with our qualifications or with what we feel equipped to do, but with humble dependence on the presence of God.

Send us a textActs 23:7-11And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all. Then a great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees' party stood up and contended sharply, “We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?” And when the dissension became violent, the tribune, afraid that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him away from among them by force and bring him into the barracks. The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in RomeSupport the show

Send us a textIn order to be able to follow Jesus' example we need to learn to take courage.Jesus was always prepared to do the courageous things, standing up against the religious systems of his day, reaching out to those who were outcast in society, choosing an unorthodox group of people to be on his team.Today we look at how we can be courageous in the way we live our lives and the people that we choose to connect with.Feel free to listen in x
Talk Back to MeThe first six months of 2025 have displayed a roller coaster of events, many of which presented as catastrophes, or great victories depending on political affiliation. At the same time, the Gun Culture has witnessed the end of an era, where names that once led companies and held the attention of millions slip away in disgrace. Not all kingdoms are built to last. Whether it's Military action in Iran, or Riots in LA, or Parliamentarians getting in the way of a long awaited curbing of the NFA, it's easy to look at what we're up against and throw up one's hands in lament. But that is not the path. Did we expect it to be so easy as an election? Did we expect that, with every step forward we would face less and less opposition? This isn't a problem that can be solved in the mind alone. Having the right answers is just the first step, one that must be followed with Courage. When last we met, Paul the Apostle was on a boat heading for Rome. But the boat ran into a massive storm called a "nor'easter". The ship was trying to sail west...but those ferocious winds pummeled that big ol' ship and forced it south into open seas. The ship was being pounded and was beginning to sink. People were scared and had lost all hope, but God was still in control, and he had already chosen a leader to take control. The name of that leader was Paul the Apostle.

This message reminds us that God is always working — even when things feel broken, hopeless, or stuck. Through the story of Nehemiah and the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls, we're challenged to see how God keeps His promises, reverses what seems lost, and restores what's been broken. But the real work isn't just about walls — it's about hearts. Whether you're feeling stuck in waiting, wrestling with fear, or realizing the ways you've drifted, this sermon encourages us to come back to Jesus — the One who restores and redeems.
The Body must find courage to step into all that God is doing. In this message, Gabe Valenzuela reminds us that courage isn't a personality trait but is something to cultivate. As the Lord moves, He's inviting us to move with Him. Sometimes that means reaching when it feels easier to retreat, or choosing faith despite your fears. This is a call to rise—not in our own strength, but in deep dependence on the One who goes before us. May this message awaken fresh faith and stir holy courage for all that is on the horizon.

The fear of others often undermines our ability to follow Jesus courageously. We need courage to follow Jesus in calling out religious hypocrisy (within our own hearts and in bigger systems); we need courage to cause good trouble; and we need courage to persevere. But we don't muster this courage on our own; courage is rooted in God's presence and God's purpose.

Send us a textToday on The Bookshelf Odyssey Podcast, I sit down with fantasy author M.T. Solomon to discuss her latest release, "Liar Queen" – the exciting first book in an all-new fantasy trilogy! At the beginning of the episode I also give a quick update on my podcast, this channel, and life in general. We then explore her writing journey—from her dreams of being a writer that began as a young child, to an adult making that dream a reality. She opens up about the joys and challenges of writing, finding inspiration from the world around you, and the pros and cons of traditional vs. indie publishing - and how that led her to become the first author to be published by Golden Scales Publishing! Read Online“Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!” Mark 6:50Fear is one of the most paralyzing and painful experiences in life. There are many things we can fear, but most often, the cause of our fear is the evil one trying to deter us from faith and hope in Christ Jesus. This line above is taken from the story of Jesus walking on the water toward the Apostles during the fourth watch of the night as they were rowing against the wind and being tossed by the waves. When they saw Jesus walking on the water, they were terrified. But when Jesus spoke to them and got into the boat, the wind immediately died down, and the Apostles remained there “completely astounded.” The boat on the stormy sea has traditionally been understood to represent our journey through this life. There are countless ways that the evil one, the flesh and the world fight against us. In this story, Jesus sees their trouble from the shore and walks toward them to come to their aid. His reason for walking towards them is His compassionate Heart.Often in times of fear in life, we lose sight of Jesus. We turn in on ourselves and focus on the cause of our fear. But our goal must be to turn from the cause of fear in life and look for Jesus Who is always compassionate and is always walking toward us in the midst of our fear and struggle.Reflect, today, upon whatever it is that causes you the most fear and anxiety in life. What is it that leads you to interior confusion and struggle? Once you identify the source, turn your eyes from that to our Lord. See Him walking toward you in the midst of whatever you struggle with, saying to you, “Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!”Lord, once again I turn to Your most compassionate Heart. Help me to lift my eyes toward You and to turn away from the sources of my anxiety and fear in life. Fill me with faith and hope in You and give me the courage I need to put all my trust in You. Jesus, I trust in You.Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2024 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved.
