Pastor Jono show us how those who are favoured are blessed with more. But it is not always blessed with more relaxation, more money, or more stuff. Caleb was blessed with more battles to be fought as a reward for his faithfulness. Paul was blessed with more persecution because he was faithful, which in the end led to his death in Rome. Jesus was blessed with death on a cross for His faithfulness. Be strong and courageous in the face of persecution and adversity!
This sermon centered on a simple but urgent question: How did a generation that witnessed God's faithfulness forget Him so quickly? Looking at Judges 2, we see that Israel didn't merely forget what God had done, they stopped truly knowing Him. As followers of Jesus, we're called to take courage by holding two truths together: remembering God's faithfulness revealed in His Word and recognizing His active presence in our lives today. When either is neglected, we drift. What does it really mean to be strong and courageous?This week, Jono helped us look again at Joshua's call to courage as a Spirit-empowered way of life. True courage is not found in self-confidence, grit, or pretending we are not afraid. The Bible, God's holy book, tells us the story of a young queen, Esther. Her people were in danger, and to help them, she had to approach the king uninvited—that was a move that would cost her her life. Her bravery saved her people and brought protection, hope, and life to thousands. Courage isn't about our own strength—it's about trusting God even when we feel small. Maybe you're facing a challenge today that feels too large. God is inviting you to fully trust Him, knowing He will guide you and give you strength in the challenge. You can pray with me for it: “God, help me to act with courage and trust you, even though I feel small. I trust that You will give me strength today. I want to know You and begin a relationship with You, the Living God. So, come into my life. Please forgive me, heal me, and thank You. In Jesus' name. Amen.” Always remember, there is hope with God. Where Dave, Whitney, and Logan look back at Sunday's sermon from Acts 22–23 at Woodlands Church and ask what courage looks like when life feels chaotic. They talk about calling as faithful obedience (not a perfect plan we can "miss"), speaking truth with love, and how God's sovereignty protects His mission in Paul's story. We'll also reflect on how Jesus' words "take courage" meet Paul in loneliness—and how we can encourage one another the same way in our homes, workplaces, and daily rhythms.
The Christian life is war. We battle against the world, our own flesh and the devil. War is not fair. In fact, our enemies will conspire against us in a thousand ways to scare us out of trusting our Saviour and doing what He commands. No wonder then that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Christians need courage to make it to the finish line, but that courage is not found by pep rallies, safety nets and sure-fire techniques. It is only found in the Lord.
