Jesus encourages those who doubt and warns those who are fickle.

Doubt is a persistent thing in most human lives; it can be good, sometimes bad, and often irrelevant to our lives. But for those of faith, whose entire life and salvation hang upon belief and trust, doubt is not only a source of anxiety and vexation, but can become a crisis and put people on the edge of devastation. What can we do to battle such doubts? Jesus is here, as always, to help us. Let us turn to him this morning.
In this sermon we read in Matthew 11:20-30 as Jesus rebukes Chorazin and Bethsaida for their lack of repentance and in response states that the truths of life are hidden from the learned and given to the little children. We are reminded that God blesses us with the person of Jesus who is simple and kind when our lives are engulfed in the complexity and brokenness of the world. We are also reminded that this person, Jesus, gives us an invitation to come and know him deeply instead of simply learning about him.

In this Easter Sunday sermon, we ask the question, “Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday, so what about Monday?” We saw that in His resurrection Jesus gives his disciples peace, purpose, and power. He still gives these today to those who follow Him.

In this sermon we see how Jesus is both gentle and just. We see him display these things in three stories from Matthew 21:1-19. We follow Jesus in the triumphal entry, through the temple and onto his interaction with a fig tree. From these stories we are given two messages: Know that God's judgment is coming and there is nothing to fear in Jesus for He is gentle.
In this passage we learn about John the Baptist's crisis of faith and the doubts he faced while imprisoned. We also have opportunity to hear how Jesus responds and the encouragement he provides John. In this we can see our own doubts and crises are expected and Jesus meets us in those moments.

Pastor David Halan continues the series in Matthew looking at the proof Jesus gave to John the Baptist. Why did Jesus need to give proof, because John doubted. John, who Jesus said was greater than all the prophets, doubted Jesus was the Messiah. Why? Why did he doubt? Why do we doubt? Please listen as Pastor David explains how we can overcome doubt and add tang to our testimony.
