Ever suggest something new at work only to hear "that's just how we do things here" and watch the energy completely deflate? Yeah, we've all been there. This week, we're chatting with Wade Kingsley about breaking free from status quo thinking and actually getting your ideas heard without being shut down or laughed at (been there too). Wade breaks down why most workplaces are set up to reward playing it safe, how to identify whether you're a Dreamer, Doer, or Doubter on your team, and the genius strategy of testing ideas in kitchen conversations before you pitch them to the boss. Plus, we dive into why creativity isn't about having the most artistic job - it's about getting curious and asking "but what if we tried this instead?" when everyone else just accepts the way things are. What you'll learn: The Three Creative Types and why your team needs all of them (spoiler: it's not just about the big idea people) Why you should never pitch your brilliant idea to the boss first - and who to talk to instead The 'Five Whys' technique for getting to the real problem (not just what's on the surface) How to frame risky ideas as "experiments" so people actually want to try them The art of separating brainstorming from reality-checking so ideas don't get killed instantly How to build creative confidence even when you've been shot down before Our new BIZ hosts are Lisa Lie - a former Head of People & Culture and Organisational Coach - and Mamamia’s Em Vernem. Sometimes, in life, we surround ourselves with people who undermine our confidence and faith, sowing doubts and fears. But to grow and realize our potential, we need to let go of these "doubters" and focus on what God has in store for us. The Bible teaches us that difficulties aren't always obstacles, but opportunities to grow our faith.Even people very close to us, like family or friends, can be sources of negativity. Like the Israelite spies, we sometimes tend to focus more on the obstacles than on the opportunities. But God calls us personally, and not everyone will understand or follow our path. We must not let negative voices stop us.To overcome negative people, it's important to have trust in God, be persistent, live according to His Word, and wait for His timing. Even though the journey is tough, God is with us and guides us toward our "promised land."Stay strong in hope, patient in difficulty, and rooted in prayer. Not everyone can follow you, but God is taking you higher. Let go of those who hold you back and follow His plan with all your heart.

Many believers have a time of doubt once a while. It’s not a good feeling, is it? We may wish we had the faith of those men and women in the Bible: steadfast, immovable, faith as solid as a rock. Well today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that even some our biblical heroes encountered doubt. In fact, we’ll focus on one in particular today. But Pastor Greg draws the distinction between doubt and unbelief. We’ll see doubt is temporary, and can lead to a stronger faith. Bad things do happen . . . even to God’s children. We see it in the Bible. Job’s tragedies were mind boggling. Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers. The disciples faced persecution and even martyrdom for their faith. When we face challenges, how do we keep that from turning to doubt? Pastor Greg Laurie answers that today on A NEW BEGINNING from a study in Matthew. We’ll see how doubt can often be a passageway that leads to real growth and a stronger faith. We continue our series about Thomas the famous doubting disciple. This week's discussion questions are: 2/16/25 Discussion Questions The sermon contrasts Thomas's nickname "Twin" with the later label "Doubter." How does understanding his original nickname change your perception of him? What are the key differences between genuine doubt and cynicism, as explained in the sermon? How can you tell the difference in yourself? Why does the sermon emphasize the importance of positioning ourselves around believers and actively seeking truth, like Thomas did? How does Jesus's response to Thomas's doubt reveal his character and the nature of God's grace? What is the significance of Thomas's declaration, "My Lord and my God!"? What does it reveal about his understanding of Jesus? The sermon suggests a "dangerous prayer" – asking Jesus to reveal himself as King and God. Would you be willing to pray this prayer? Why or why not? How can you apply the principle of "faith seeking understanding" (fides quaerens intellectum) to your own spiritual journey? Are there areas in your life where you are tempted to be cynical rather than genuinely doubtful? How can you shift your perspective? What specific steps can you take to "position yourself" to encounter Jesus, as Thomas did?

Jesus never dealt with any two people in the same way. He is the perfect example of how we can connect with people in our world. So, what would He say to the doubter? Notes:Focus verse: Matthew 11 When Jesus walked this earth, He encountered many people, and He always had time for individuals. John the Baptist was not just significant but super-significant. John offered hope to the people, calling them back to God. John was fearless. He called out the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and professionally religious.Matthew 3:7–8 John baptized our Lord in the Jordan river and said,“He must increase, and I must decrease.” John's job was to prepare the way for the Messiah. Read: Matthew 11:1-11 Before wearing “many crowns,” Jesus would wear the crown of thorns. Before the throne would come the cross. Doubt is not a sin. Sometimes we need to go through the foyer of doubt to get into the sanctuary of certainty. Moses was ready to quit. Elijah was ready to quit after Carmel and hearing Jezebel's threats. Doubting Thomas wanted to know for himself what the others knew. The Apostle Paul was discouraged. John the Baptist had a troubled mind and a broken heart. Jesus responded with scriptures from the Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah.Isaiah 35:5–6 / Isaiah 61 “God blesses those who do not turn away because of me.”Matthew 11:6 God never rebukes any who come to Him with sincere questions or honest doubts. Jesus used the opportunity to speak of John's greatness.Matthew 11:1-8 It does not matter what others think of us or even what we think of ourselves. What really matters is what Jesus thinks about us. Matthew 11:11 John was a friend of the Bridegroom. We are the bride of the Bridegroom. Doubt is a matter of the mind. Unbelief is a matter of the will. Doubt has questions.Unbelief rejects answers. Jesus refocused John's priorities. Jesus used Scripture and referred John back to the prophecies of the Messiah in Isaiah. Jesus kept on with His purpose and asked John to trust and follow. “Preach” is back! We're thrilled to launch our second season with Timothy Radcliffe, O.P., a renowned Dominican from the English Province, as our guest for the premiere episode. Timothy brings extensive experience as the former worldwide leader of his order, as well as a distinguished preacher, spiritual author, guide and sought-after retreat leader. Though his leadership and wisdom have long been recognized in the church, his international profile was significantly elevated when Pope Francis invited him to co-lead the retreat ahead of the synod, where he preached alongside Mother Maria Ignazia Angelini, O.S.B., winning great acclaim and respect from Catholics in the pew and cardinals alike. In this episode of “Preach,” Timothy shares how he went about preparing for that retreat and offers valuable insights and wisdom drawn from his extensive experience in retreat ministry, spiritual writing and leadership. He also sheds light on the distinctive characteristics of Dominican preaching, particularly its emphasis on doctrine, and shares practical guidance for preachers and retreat leaders seeking to deepen their own ministry. When asked about synodal preaching, Timothy emphasizes the importance of vulnerability and authenticity. “I think that it's crucial in all preaching,” he says, “but perhaps most especially in synodal preaching, that you come across not as somebody who knows it all, but as a searcher, a doubter, a questioner.” He echoes Pope Francis' words, “Where there are no questions, our faith is dead. If there are no questions, God's not there.” “We need to be prepared to admit as preachers, ‘this is what I struggle with. This is what I don't understand,'” he says. “‘Will you help me?'” Get daily Scripture reflections and support “Preach” by becoming a digital subscriber to America Magazine. Micah takes a look at the story of Thomas in John 20:19-29. While Thomas is often labelled as "The Doubter", this story is intentionally included in John's gospel as an encouragement to those with doubts. Even as Thomas expresses his doubts and makes his request known, Jesus moves towards him and meets him where he's at.

Our guest joins us today to give us a portrait of Jesus found in the earliest historical sources. What we will discover is not a tidy monolithic Jesus, but a complex, multi-layered and, at times, contradictory figure. Jesus cannot fit into a box. He is destined to stretch out imaginations, confront our beliefs, and challenge our lifestyle for years to come.
