“Glenn Frey and Don Henley wrote this song together, and Frey sang lead. Along with “Desperado,” it was one of two songs they came up with in the first week that they started writing together. The songs formed the basis of the Eagles' second album, with Frey and Henley comparing the life of a cowboy to that of a musician. “Tequila Sunrise” shows the transient nature of each lifestyle, as the singer falls for a woman who just wants to use him and move on. The theme didn't immediately connect with the buying public, but the songs and the album stood the test of time.”* *Excerpted from Songfacts® Chapters (00:00:19) - It's Another to Kill The Sunrise

Lycanthropy-based athleticism! A wise, well-rested and deeply uninvested coach! A town willing to accept a werewolf if it benefits their local sports team! A stereotypically-threatening 80s boyfriend! The best music a low budget movie can buy! Questionable party games! Breakdancing powers! Pulsating wolf makeup effects! An adult pretending to be a teenager pretending to be an adult in order to buy beer! All that and more in this surprisingly sweet movie that's effectively Spider-Man if he used his powers for popularity instead of crime-fighting!In addition, Tim shares his spoiler-free thoughts on David Twohy's 2002 supernatural submarine thriller, Below, Tony sings the praises of TerrorVision and The Gate, while Alex does the same for Desperado, El Mariachi, and Black Phone 2!You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. When the directors of Pulp Fiction and Desperado joined forces in 1996, nobody expected the chaos that followed. From Dusk Till Dawn is part crime thriller, part vampire splatterfest, and entirely unforgettable. This week, the Born to Watch crew sinks their teeth into the film that turned George Clooney from TV doctor to Hollywood icon.Whitey, Damo and Gow hit the road to El Rey, cocked, loaded, and possibly armed with a "dick gun." The boys dive straight into the movie's outrageous tonal shift: one moment it's a gritty outlaw chase, the next it's a full-blown blood-soaked vampire brawl. Half road movie, half horror comedy, From Dusk Till Dawn remains one of cinema's wildest left-turns – and the lads can't get enough of it.They reminisce about seeing it for the first time, back when nobody knew the twist. Gow remembers sitting in a dark cinema thinking it was just a stylish Tarantino heist until all hell literally broke loose. Damo recalls wearing out the VHS tape twice in a row, and Whitey laughs about taking five unsuspecting mates to see it just to watch their jaws drop. This is movie memory at its finest: the mid-'90s, Empire magazines, no spoilers, no internet, just word-of-mouth madness. The conversation slides quickly from Clooney's charisma to Quentin Tarantino's unnerving performance as Richie Gecko, possibly his best acting turn. Damo describes him as “quiet, creepy and dangerous,” while Gow compares his brotherly chemistry with Clooney to "a bomb about to go off." The trio agree Clooney oozes movie-star presence, Harvey Keitel grounds the chaos, and Juliette Lewis somehow still looks 23 for the next 20 years. And then there's Salma Hayek. The fellas do not hold back on the famous Titty Twister dance scene, the snake, the stumble, the hips, and Tarantino's now-infamous foot fetish. Whitey confesses it's "maybe the sexiest dance in movie history," while Damo says it's proof every song has an inner stripper. The music, the lighting, the moment – pure '90s cinematic magic.Between the beer, blood, and banter, the boys celebrate everything that makes From Dusk Till Dawn such gleeful trash. They quote the immortal "Mexican or domestic?" gag, debate the "ugly snorbs" among the vampire horde, and burst into laughter, recalling Clooney's moral compass, the bad guy with the good heart. There's genuine affection for how the film refuses to play by any rules. In Film School for F-Wits, Whitey goes full academic, calling the film the "ultimate tonal shift" and challenging the others to name a movie that turns harder or faster. Damo nominates a few classics, Gow brings his rugby grand-final energy, and the chat devolves into biscuits, Monte Carlos and Venetians, proof that even when the vampires attack, Born to Watch stays on brand. From the "popcorn popping in the servo" opening to Cheech Marin's triple role and the legendary Titty Twister monologue, the episode is wall-to-wall chaos, nostalgia and laughs. By the time the guys hit The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, it's clear this flick isn't high art, but it's pure fun. A 7.2 on IMDb? The crew say it's worth every drop of blood and beer.So grab a cold one, reload your dick gun, and join Whitey, Damo and Gow as they revisit From Dusk Till Dawn, the movie that proved you never know what's lurking inside the bar until the sun goes down.#BornToWatch #FromDuskTillDawn #GeorgeClooney #QuentinTarantino #RobertRodriguez #SalmaHayek #90sMovies #MoviePodcast #FilmNerds #MovieNight
Hosts Scott and Craig take a look at the Robert Rodriguez action classic "Desperado."Over the course the episode we talk about what a blast this bare bones actioner still is, how in Rodriguez films the "Rule of Cool" is always paramount and how Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek are one of the most beautiful pairings ever put on screen. Plus, we get into whether this film is a remake or sequel, Tarantino's acting chops and how the El Mariachi character evolves over the course of the Mexico trilogy. In this episode, Charlie and George travel to Mexico for some stylish and sexy nineties gun play, it must mean Desperado! They delve into the films origins, as well as the career of writer/director/editor/sometimes musician Robert Rodriguez. To get there, they need to discuss his ground breaking debut, El Mariachi and the third installment of the trilogy, Once Upon A Time in Mexico. Expect bad impressions, sweaty chemistry (Banderas- Hayek, less so McGhee Brothers) and film trivia!
We go back to 1973 to hear the Eagles classic song "Desperado." There are loners out in the world, some intentionally some unintentionally. Listen in and see how Jesus helps desperados.

This week we're diving into Desperado (1995), Robert Rodriguez's bullet ballet of blood, guitars, and grit. Antonio Banderas is the slickest mariachi with a mission, Salma Hayek sets the screen on fire, and every shootout feels like a rock concert with a body count. It's tequila-soaked mayhem, slow-mo carnage, and enough style to make your sunglasses sweat. Lock the case. Load the guns. Let's blow the roof off. Did you enjoy the episode? This week on episode 170, Steven and Jeremy discussed the signing of Aaron Wolf and why it's a bigger deal in Japan than many in America might think. They also looked at El Desperado's Death Pain Invitational. Steven's existential crisis continued as he related more of what bothers him about the shift in tone with the House of Torture angle. Plus, they previewed the upcoming title matches and the Tanahashi Jam.
Send us a textThe latest Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob see if Robert Rodriguez's, 1995 neo-western, Desperado has stood the test of time. Does the action still feel ground breaking? Does the plot actually make sense? Are Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas still the hottest on-screen couple since, well....ever? Listen in via the link in the bio to find out. Oh, and do download and subscribe and stuff. Or not. It's your call.

You're not ready for this one. It starts with a baby book for a dog. "First Bark," "First Sniff," even "First Hump" (thankfully, no photo). Is this just quirky or full-blown serial killer behavior? And it only gets weirder. A straight guy secretly addicted to Grindr, claiming it's “harmless curiosity.” A neighbor who gifts expensive chocolates until one missed “thank you” turns into literal chocolate revenge. A marriage where sex only happens during Eagles' Greatest Hits—and yes, Desperado plays every. single. time. Oh, and the ultimate betrayal: when your best friend, who happens to be the funniest comedian alive, completely blows up your love life. This episode is chaotic, unfiltered, and absolutely unmissable. Listen now—you'll question everything.
