Good things may indeed come to those who wait. But when it comes to kick ass 'Creature Features" the sooner, the better. Crossover legends Excel go back to the mid 80s from the famed hardcore and skate scenes of Venice Beach, Cali! Vocalist Dan Clements was right in the thick of things from Day One all the way to their recent appearance in town for the SOS Fest! We had a long overdue chat with a dude who had a lot to get off his chest. We had a chat that wavered from the light and bouncy to the rather intense then back again. We spoke of Excel's reunion of sorts and his skating in 2018. Of course the elephant in the living room was the whole "Sandman" thingy. An Excel - ent conversation not to be missed! In our "News, Views, and Tunes!" we share stories from the live front and crank some classic Excel and new stuff from Behemoth, Acid Witch, Horrendous, and Neckbeard Deathcamp!! Horns!! To no surprise, we've followed and admired veteran Canuck metallers VOIVOD right from the get-go. First, as mid-80s underground thrash darlings and literally throughout the decades, Voivod has always carved their own niche and followed the muses of their own creativity. All the while, they maintained the integrity of true musical artists. The one constant throughout has been the presence of drummer Away! The man saw all the victories... and defeats. They fought thru all the trials and tribulations and came out stronger for it. Through it all creating top drawer tunage. Recently, Voivod headlined the inaugural SOS Fest in Winnipeg. Even with the night in full swing, Mr. Away still found a few minutes to share some thoughts with us. We discussed the new album "The Wake", his definition of the Voivod sound, some "Jasonic" talk, and he answered another one of our thirty (!) year old queries. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we hit our local wrasslin' matches and comic shops. Musically, we crank the new Voivod, CAULDRON and CEMETERY LUST records. As well as some classic RAZOR! Horns!! A couple of weeks ago, our still pretty dead podcast was brought back to life thanks to the good people over at the SOS Fest in Central Texas. They flew me out to speak with a few acts, but mainly to do this on-stage chat with clipping., who have always been a pleasure to interview. This time we talk about the trio's latest album Splendor & Misery, their Donald Trump diss track, and their reaction to music reviews.
