It's the Talking Shit About Nothing Halloween episode, and Jimmie and Richie are joined by two returning favorites — Billy and Gary — for a night of horror movie talk and absolute chaos. Gary dips his toe back into the deep (and dangerous) waters with his Jaws monologue, while Billy delivers an epic four-minute Gladiator scene entirely from memory — no script, no notes, just raw cinematic energy. But the real horror story? Gary's infamous movie theater shoe incident — when he left his sneakers to save seats, only to find them gone (and new people sitting there) when he came back. Mayhem ensued. It's scary, hilarious, and everything you love about Talking Shit About Nothing. Grab your candy and tune in for some Halloween madness.
SHOW NOTES: Welcome to The Money Pit! Home sweet home doesn't have to be a bottomless money pit, and we are here every week to take your calls and offer expert advice. This week, we're getting festive with last-minute Halloween treats and tackling your scariest home improvement dilemmas! Topics this week include: - Last-Minute DIY Halloween Decor: If Halloween snuck up on you, there is still time to haunt your house with easy decor ideas like using cheesecloth or gauze draped over balloons to create floating ghosts, cutting black trash bags into spiderwebs, or creating spooky silhouettes from paper and cardboard. - Budget-Friendly Yard Frights: We share quick and clever DIY lighting effects to transform your yard into a haunted masterpiece, including using toilet paper rolls with cellophane and LED lights tucked into bushes to create glowing eyes, or setting up a glowing, smoky cauldron with a fog machine or dry ice. - The Best Way to Store Decorations: Once the spooky season is over, you should sort and label indoor decor, wrap string lights around cardboard to prevent tangles, and ensure all outdoor items (like inflatables and lights) are completely dry before boxing them up to prevent mold and damage. - Fall Home Maintenance Wins: Leslie's Last Word offers easy projects to ready your home for winter, including draining off sediment from your tank-style water heater and swapping out the furnace filter to ensure warmer air and lower heating bills. Q & A: - John in Texas was questioning whether to install a metal roof over just 1x3 wood lath strips or over solid plywood sheathing on his new small home. Our recommendation is to use solid decking because it provides greater structural strength, reduces the loud noise caused by rain, and allows for better insulation. - Janet was looking for the best way to insulate a side entrance floor, debating whether to insulate from underneath or pull up the linoleum and plywood from the top. If she has access to the crawlspace, we advise inserting insulation between the joists from underneath, but note that the ceiling/attic should be insulated first. - Lauren asked if her neglected, ivy-damaged cedar siding was worth salvaging and what type of contractor to hire for the job. Our advice is to restore the siding by hiring a good painter to prep the surface and caulk seams, using a solid color stain for durability, and potentially hiring a carpenter to replace severely damaged boards. - Bosley emailed to say he wanted to remove a large bathroom mirror glued to the wall without breaking it and needed safety advice. The solution requires wearing protective gear and using a thin, strong wire, like piano wire or a guitar string, to carefully saw back and forth behind the mirror and cut through the adhesive. ASK A QUESTION: Need help with your own home improvement or décor question? We'd love to help! A crumbling castle, a mad alchemist, and whispers of the dead… welcome to Frankenstein's Castle. High on a hill in Germany stands Frankenstein's Castle, once home to the infamous alchemist Johann Conrad Dippel—a man whose dark experiments may have inspired Mary Shelley's legendary monster. But beyond the chilling legends, visitors report ghostly figures drifting through the halls, disembodied whispers in the corridors, and strange shadows that move on their own. Are these the restless spirits of Dippel's failed experiments, or something even darker? Join Anne and Renata as they uncover the sinister history, haunted encounters, and spine-tingling mysteries hidden within the castle's ancient walls. JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO LISTEN TO MONSTER PARTY! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD revel in the legacy of a shark named “Bruce.” Get a bucket of chum, and find yourself a bigger boat, as MONSTER PARTY presents… JAWS: 50 YEARS OF FRIGHTS AND BITES!!! In 1975, STEVEN SPIELBERG unleashed a breathtaking thriller that would go on to be one of the highest-grossing motion pictures of all time, ushering in the era of the “blockbuster.” Based on the best-selling book by PETER BENCHLEY, JAWS' journey from novel to screen was a difficult one. Faced with a malfunctioning shark, precarious ocean conditions, bickering actors, and skyrocketing production costs, Spielberg would rise above these obstacles, turning adversity into ingenuity. And let's not forget the contribution of JOHN WILLIAMS' legendary score. To this day, can anyone resist humming “Dun Dun Dun Dun” when they hit the pool? After JAWS' initial worldwide success, the film was followed up by several lackluster sequels and copycats. But no matter how hard (or how little) other filmmakers tried, no one was able to capture the magic that made JAWS be considered by many to be one of the few perfect films. And who would have thought that 50 years later, the film they almost pulled the plug on would be the pop culture icon that it is today? Joining us for this monumental maw fest is an accomplished actor, author, journalist, and publicist who is a beloved staple of the monster kid community. He has appeared in such diverse movies and TV shows as IN THE SHADOWS, THE PREY: KARNOCTUS, LAVALANTULA, CHASTITY BITES, BLOOD AND GUTS WITH SCOTT IAN, TIM AND ERIC AWESOME SHOW, GREAT JOB, THE FLINTSTONES, BEETHOVEN'S 2ND, and STAR TREK: VOYAGER. He's been a long-time contributor for FANGORIA, STARLOG, FILM REVIEW, and DREAD CENTRAL, and is the author of the books THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO COMPANION, BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY: A TV COMPANION, YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ME WHEN I'M ANGRY: A HULK COMPANION, and the must-have tome for any respectable JAWS fan, JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE: A JAWS COMPANION. Please welcome… PAT JANKIEWICZ! MONSTER PARTY SALUTES THE PHENOMENON OF JAWS! AND THIS TIME… IT'S PERSONAL.
