This week, to celebrate the 100th episode of My Weekly Mixtape, I am creating The Ultimate Mixtape by asking 65 different people (previous My Weekly Mixtape guests, friends of the show & the amazing Patreon Mixtapers) the same question: If you had to choose one song for the ultimate mixtape (any song / any genre), that would be locked away in a time capsule for others to discover years or decades for now…which song would you choose and why? Now, I'm not lost on the fact that the question is just a spin on the “desert island song” question that a lot of my guests have been asked countless times. The twist for the next few episodes is: I am taking those 65 song choices (all of which are from various bands, artists, decades, genres and tempos), and curating them into what I hope will be a properly sequenced playlist from a musical perspective! At the very least? This was a fun & unique twist on a question as old as interviews themselves. But at its best? Congratulations, you're listening to The Ultimate Mixtape!! This ep. includes the final 25 responses! Be sure to also check out Volume's 1 & 2 to get the full experience! Guests appearing in Vol. 3 (in no particular order): Guy Fletcher of Dire Straits, Joe Bonamassa, Desmond Child, Ed Toth of The Doobie Brothers, Walter Trout, Todd Park Mohr of Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Nick Niespodziani & Peter Olson of Yacht Rock Revue, Billy Sheehan of Mr. Big, Kevin “Sonny” Gullage, Emily Wolfe, Jax Hollow, Sean Faust, Wolfgang Valbrun, Carrie Cunningham, Jesse Jackson of Set Lusting Bruce, Eric Senich of the Van Halen News Desk / Booked on Rock Podcast, Jessica Ann Catena of Music Notes With Jess, Bobby Schultz of Effin' Cultured, Mac Wolf of The Ugly American Werewolf In London Rock Podcast, Jason Whissell of It's Not That Bad & There Can Only Be One Podcasts, friends of the show Jimmy Mitchell & Bob Spear, two more incredible Patreon Mixtapers: David Lee Smith & Philip Bergman, and last (but certainly not least!) a guest appearance from Paul Williams! Be sure to visit MyWeeklyMixtape.com to hear all of the songs we discussed in this episode, and join the My Weekly Mixtape Discord Server via the link on the episode page! Theme music is "Unveiled" by The 4th. You can find the album on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, YouTube, Bandcamp & more! Brian Fallon is the frontman for the legendary New Jersey Band The Gaslight Anthem and Emily Wolfe is an amazing guitarist/songwriter/singer/force of nature. They have both been on the podcast independently multiple times and when I saw that they went on tour together and became pals... I had to get them on for an epic dual-guest episode! On this one, a lot of goofing off occurs. Because that is what happens when a bunch of nerdy friends get together! Today I'm joined by Austin-based rocker Emily Wolfe to discuss her latest song "Kill The Love," and self-producing her most recent album, 'The Blowback.' We discuss Emily's unorthodox method approach to recording the album opener "Silencer," touring with the legendary Joan Jett and Heart, and why living well is the best revenge. ✨ MORE ABOUT EMILY WOLFE ✨ Emily Wolfe is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Austin, TX who is known for her mile-long riffs and anthemic, politically-charged rippers. She just released a brand new song called "Kill The Love," in addition to a mini-documentary about the making of her latest self-produced album 'The Blowback,' released in October 2023. ✨ KEEP UP TO DATE WITH EMILY WOLFE ✨ Website: www.emilywolfemusic.com Instagram: instagram.com/emilywolfemusic/ Twitter/X: x.com/EmilyWolfeMusic Facebook: facebook.com/emilywolfemusic Spotify: open.spotify.com/artist/0WUpndpcj YouTube: youtube.com/@emilywolfemusic Apple Music: music.apple.com/us/artist/emily-wolfe/ ✨ CONNECT WITH IZZY ✨ YouTube: youtube.com/channel/agrrrlstwosoundcents Website: agrrrlstwosoundcents.com Instagram: instagram.com/agrrrlstwosoundcents/ Twitter: twitter.com/grrrlsoundcents
This episode we have the incredibly talented Emily Wolfe! Emily's new record Outlier is one of my favorite albums of 2021. The songs and arrangements are glorious and Emily's voice is pure magic on every track. We took a deep dive into the process of making this album and the gear that was used in manifesting these amazing tones! This episode was prerecorded because Emily is busy on the road, but this is one you don't want to miss... trust me. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Since we last heard from Emily Wolfe (fiddle) and CC Thornley (banjo) they have finished their performances at the Festival of Voices and the Unconformity Festival at Queenstown. However, since returning home Emily has not been able to find any daycare for the podcast. So we had to Nan and Pop's place in the country. CC scares the children. Emily Wolfe doesn't play guitar. She bends it to her will. Like a bronco buster taming a stallion, she saddles up on her signature Sheratons and lets it rip. Much of the magic felt and heard on her self-titled debut was pure adrenaline hitting your speaker. And while her second album, 2021's Outlier, incorporates Wolfe's love of Motown grooves and modern-pop stickiness refreshening her songwriting with backdrops of more polished, waxy tones, but tumbleweed oscillation, helicopter, square-wave chops, and barbed-wire fuzz are still howls welcomed in this Wolfe pack.“When I go up there, something could hit me at any point—an emotion that I felt 10 years ago could come out in a bend on the low E. There's so much rawness [to classic rock]; the edges are not perfect, but there's a magic in that,” explained Wolfe to PG. But how do you marry earworm poppiness with a gunslinger's approach to guitar?“Some of my rock friends say, ‘Pop isn't relevant,' and I'm like, ‘What are you talking about—it's everywhere!' It's so sticky for people, and that's really fascinating to me. I want my music to have that quality … but also the realness of a raw guitar tone. [With Outlier] I wanted to make something that would be classic 10, 20, 30 years from now,” she told PG in 2021. “That was the goal, and I think we achieved it.”Before Wolfe's headlining show at Nashville's Blue Room (located inside the Third Man Records compound), PG's Chris Kies joined the shredding songwriter onstage to talk shop. The resulting conversation covers the development behind her Epiphone Sheraton, how a boring night in Cleveland spent with her “Chex-mix crushing, brother-in-tone” bass player Evan Nicholson convinced her play a doubleneck guitar, and we discover what three pedals work together to make what she describes as “the sound that belongs to me.”Full Rig Details: https://bit.ly/EmilyWolfeRig2023Subscribe to PG's Channel: http://bit.ly/SubscribePGYouTubeWin Guitar Gear: https://bit.ly/GiveawaysPG Don't Miss a Rundown: http://bit.ly/RIgRundownENLMerch & Magazines: https://shop.premierguitar.comPG's Facebook: https://facebook.com/premierguitarPG's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/premierguitar/PG's Twitter: https://twitter.com/premierguitarPG's TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@premierguitar[Brought to you by D'Addario XPND Pedalboard: https://www.daddario.com/XPNDRR]*© Copyright Gearhead Communications LLC, 2023*00:00 - D'Addario XPND Pedalboard00:15 - Emily Wolfe Playing Intro00:34 - Chris Kies & Emily Wolfe Intro01:08 - Epiphone Emily Wolfe Signature Sheraton Stealth05:36 - Selecting the Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO pickups08:48 - Emily Wolfe's Strings & Picks10:31 - Epiphone Emily Wolfe "White Wolfe" Sheraton Signature13:09 - Epiphone G-127517:05 - Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410 III19:51 - Emily Wolfe's Pedalboard#guitar #rigrundown #guitarist #epiphone #guitarplayer #emilywolfe

We invite musician (and Austin rockstar) Emily Wolfe to the studio for some conversation, and we even got her to play our Contest of Influencers game. She randomly selected two businesses that CJ looked up and wrote some legitimate jingles for them in between our commercial breaks. Check 'em out! Go see her next show! Our poor, young friend (and cohost!) Emily recently came across some info online concerning her ex-boyfriend that she had a pretty serious relationship with a few years ago. According to some of his posts, he's happily coupled up, moving into a new house, and going to medical school. A lot of feelings came rushing back to Em, and she needed all of our (elderly) advice to help cope with the uninvited, recent news. That's on this week's Group Therapy segment. Also, Matt and Spenny are privileged to hear CJ's favorite LSD stories after our semi-educational segment Did You Know went a little, well, off topic. Do you have a favorite LSD story concerning a famous person? Let CJ know @TheCJMorgan on social media. Welcome to Roadcase!! Emily Wolfe is an Austin-based rocker who combines 70s rock with 80s pop and 90s grunge to create a truly compelling blend of genres underscored by her deep commitment to rock riffage and high-energy performance. Her latest album, "Outlier," produced by Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age, successfully blends genres and musical lanes culling influence from a vast spectrum of artists -- Emily cites her love of such widely divergent sources as Judas Priest and Ariana Grande, just to name a few. Emily's story is as compelling as her musical taste and amazing performance style; as a gay woman in Rock, she fills a very unique lane of what is traditionally a male-dominated genre. Stepping outside of the ordinary is what Emily does best and she lives comfortable in her own skin, not only personally, but from a professional standpoint as well. She truly loves what she does, who she is and the unique form of music that she creates -- and we love for that! So hop on the Roadcase bus for this awesome conversation with this true trailblazer and artist, Emily Wolfe. It's gonna be a great ride! For more information: https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comContact: info@roadcasepod.comTheme music: "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer
If you don't know the name Emily Wolfe yet, you will soon. The Austin-based singer, songwriter and guitarist is a few months removed from the release of Outlier, her excellent sophomore album that's earned acclaim from listeners and critics alike. Epiphone now produces a signature model guitar that bears her name, and she's about to take that guitar on the road again when she embarks on a Midwestern tour next month before what's sure to be a busy and bountiful 2022. Long before Wolfe was collaborating with Queens of the Stone Age members and sharing the stage with the likes of Joan Jett and Heart, she was playing acoustic brunch sets at restaurants and trying to make a name for herself in the Texas capital. Prior to hitting the road again (including a Dec. 9 headlining show at Cactus Club in Milwaukee), Wolfe spoke with My First Band host Tyler Maas about what it's been like getting back on the road again, the process of recording the new album with Michael Shuman and highlights from her already impressive and still-blossoming career. Over the course of the conversation, Wolfe talked about being drawn to guitar at the age of 5, immersing herself in songwriting in her teens, diving headfirst into Austin's music scene during her college years and some of the formative experiences and opportunities that — combined with her years of hard work and natural talent — helped her become the artist she is today. My First Band is sponsored by Mystery Room Mastering and Lakefront Brewery. The show is edited by Jared Blohm. You can listen to My First Band on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify and wherever else you get podcasts. You can also listen to rebroadcasts of previous My First Band episodes on WMSE every Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. CST. Music used in this episode comes courtesy of Devils Teeth ("The Junction Street Eight Tigers") and Emily Wolfe ("Damage Control").

Known for her blistering blues-rock chops, the Texan guitarist Emily Wolfe is branching out with her new album 'Outlier' to incorporate more pop sensibilities. In the podcast, Wolfe discusses the new creative direction she's taken, an upcoming tour supporting Joan Jett, and how a mean guitar teacher inadvertently helped her become a multi-instrumentalist.
Our last episode of the series brings life to the fore in a time of disease and death.
