The only films that opened bigger this year are Toy Story 5 and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Jon Bernthal filmed the Trojan Horse sequence submerged in cold water, Nolan offered to pull him out, and Bernthal's response was essentially: try harder. The film has no real competition until Spider-Man on July 31, which gives it room to run on a $250 million budget that needs the legs.And then — the Avengers: Doomsday trailer dropped this morning. First proper look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Thor rallying heroes, closing with "we need a miracle" before turning around stunned at a "hey pal." Channing Tatum as Gambit. We return to Wizards of the Coast's Villainous Options, now revised after the first round was lovingly pushed down the stairs by public feedback. Some subclasses survived untouched. Some got a makeover. Some were taken behind the shed, especially the Primordial Patron, which had one great idea and the mechanical confidence of a wet napkin. Good news, though: the demon sorcerer finally feels demonic, the Titan Druid is now a proper kaiju tank, and the Hell Knight has upgraded from flaming disappointment to legally playable infernal gambling problem. Behemoth and Insectoid both look more playable, with Insectoid getting a strong healing identity, while Leviathan still mostly answers the question, "What if your subclass feature was swimming?" The revision gives it Abyssal Rupture, a movable sphere of demonic problems that pulls enemies around, creates battlefield control, scales into difficult terrain, and eventually supports summon fiend in a way that finally screams Abyss instead of discount Hexblade with a concussion. The spell list is also dramatically better, replacing nonsense like Hallow and overused Misty Step with options that fit the theme and support the playstyle. Hey Scummers!This week Spamuel and Nathan continue their tour through the Dramatis Personae of House Goliath, taking a look at four more walking mountains of muscle whose solution to virtually every problem is "hit it harder."First up is Attilus the Axe, a legendary Goliath whose reputation was built one swing at a time. Equal parts executioner and demolition crew, Attilus proves that subtlety is a concept best left to the Van Saar. If there's an obstacle in front of him, chances are it won't be there for much longeronce they meet The God Cleaver.Next comes Durgan Kill Fist, because apparently House Goliath has a strict naming convention that requires every champion to sound like they lost a fight with a thesaurus. Durgan is another monstrous bruiser whose preferred negotiating tactic is introducing his fist to whatever unfortunate soul happens to be standing nearby. Peace was never really on the table.Then we meet Gorshiv Hammerfist, another champion whose name somehow manages to describe both his personality and his preferred method of conflict resolution. This monstrous Stimmer leads a crew of GOliath so brutal, even his brothers and sisters fear gaining their attention.Finally, we examine Axon Hammer, proving once again that if you survive long enough in House Goliath, you either become a legend or a cautionary tale. Built like a cargo hauler and just as graceful, Axon rounds out an episode dedicated to the biggest slabs of vat-grown beef the Underhive has to offer. From atop his custom Ridgehauler, The Behemoth, Axon wages war on any unlucky enough to get caught on the roads of the wastes.Of course, this wouldn't be an episode of The Underhive Lorekeepers without a few derails. Spamuel attempts to perform slam poetry, somehow butchering both poetry and slamming in the process. Nathan, meanwhile, spends the rest of the episode reminding everyone that he is, in fact, the funny one on the podcast—a claim that may or may not survive the edit. The lads discuss their ideal spending when winning the lottery and because it's impossible to discuss Goliaths without descending into gym humour, the episode becomes dangerously overloaded with bodybuilding double entendres. A VISION of Noah was inserted into the Book of 1 Enoch, with interesting references to Leviathan and Behemoth. These are chaos monsters. Leviathan, described as female and from the sea, and Behemoth, male and occupying the wilderness—possibly the same one into which the Watcher Azazel was thrown as punishment for his role in corrupting humanity. We discussed the “already but not yet” prophecies of 1 Enoch 57–59 and the end times fulfillment of the vision ascribed to Noah in chapter 60. As a reminder, this month's study comes from the Book of Parables, the prophetic section of 1 Enoch written just before the birth of Jesus. The importance of this section of the book is in its prophecies of a coming messianic figure called the Chosen One, the Anointed One, and, most frequently, the Son of Man, a title not found in any prior Jewish writing. Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man 78 times in the New Testament. The high regard for 1 Enoch held by Jesus, the apostles, and the early church suggests that it's worth our while to study this book for ourselves. It's not in the Bible, nor should it be, but there are teachings in the New Testament that come straight from the book of 1 Enoch. When we encounter the strange creatures of Jobthe behemoth and leviathanwe're not just reading ancient zoology. We're being invited into a profound lesson about how God governs the universe and how we should respond to suffering. The book of Job challenges a deeply held belief that many of us carry: that good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people. Job was righteous, yet he suffered tremendously, and his friends insisted he must have done something wrong. But God's answer shatters this simplistic formula. Through vivid imagery of creation and untamable creatures, God reveals that the universe operates not merely by justice but by divine wisdoma wisdom far beyond our comprehension. The behemoth, undisturbed by raging rivers, becomes a picture of how we're called to live: trusting and resting in God's care even when chaos surrounds us. The leviathan, which cannot be tamed or controlled, reminds us that we cannot domesticate God or put Him in a box of our understanding. This isn't about getting answers to why we sufferJob never got that answer. Instead, it's about learning to trust God's wisdom when explanations fail us, to stop demanding that God explain Himself, and to find strength in faith rather than in understanding. The book of Job isn't meant to comfort us in the moment of suffering, but to prepare us beforehand so we don't make Job's mistake of thinking we know better than God how the universe should run.

When the Lord points to Behemoth, we hear a thunderous reminder that there are parts of creation we cannot tame, cannot bargain with, and cannot control and that fact is meant to do something to our pride. If a human being can't raise a sword to one creature God made, what business do we have putting God on trial for how he governs the world? We walk through Job 40–41 with a focus on God's sovereignty, providence, and purpose, and we talk honestly about the hardest animal to master: ourselves. The conversation keeps coming back to words, because Job's turning point is not a stronger argument but a quieter mouth. IntroductionThere is a danger of throwing around "the providence of God" carelessly. Job reminds us that the providence of God and suffering can be complicated. Job captures what many of us feel in seasons of suffering. We feel confusion, frustration, and even the impulse to argue with God. Our problem is that we forget that when we suffer, God is giving us what we want. We have to remember that God does want his people to be blessed and living in Shalom. The book of Job resists an easy answer to the question of whether God's providence is a problem. Job is not laying out a health and wealth Gospel. Job is not laying out a poverty gospel either. So, what is Job teaching about God's providence? God Upholds and Rules (Creator and Sovereign)The Heidelberg Catechism grounds us: God is creator and sustainer of heaven and earth. Crucially, he is not just sovereign. God is not just a king, but He is our Father. A good father doesn't shield children from every hardship; he pushes them toward growth and tenacity. In hard seasons, we learn to wrestle with the deeper questions of who God is. Job has to learn this lesson. When you read his speeches up to this point, Job has a very black and white view of the world. You do what is right, and you necessarily receive a blessing. You do what is wrong, and you suffer. The Lord is showing that His ways and providence are more complex than a simple health and wealth gospel. God Provides (His Care Extends Further Than We Imagine)The Lord's speech from the whirlwind (Job 38–39) catalogs his care for creation. The cares for the details that many of us probably don't think about a whole lot throughout our day. The Lord cares for the mountain goats, wild donkeys, the ostrich, the war horse, hawk, and eagle. The Ostrich is always the one that stands out to me. The animals are not smart enough for a basic survival instinct. They should be extinct, but the Lord continues to preserve them. God takes care of all the tiny details. The Lord is not trying to overwhelm Job. Rather God is demonstrating that Job needs to have a bigger picture of God, redemption, and the complexity of living in a fallen world. The Lord knows Job, but Job does not really know or see God. If he tends the ostrich, who should not be alive, then how much more does he care for his redeemed people?Job responds with a half-hearted repentance. His desire for the court is not adjourned. He needs to get ready for round 2. God Is Consistent With His Own Nature (Good, Holy, Righteous)Job is simultaneously right and wrong. Job is correct that he hasn't sinned to directly deserve this suffering. Job is wrong in accusing God of injustice. The Lord wants Job to see the bigger picture, and how the Lord continues to care for this creation. The Behemoth and Leviathan aren't just shows of power. No, these are majestic creatures that will destroy man. However, to the Lord they are merely little puppies who are eager to play. The Lord is in control, there is no creature that will overpower him, and the Lord is able to protect His people. Job's response shifts from passive-aggressive silence (ch. 40) to genuine repentance (ch. 42): "I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you." He moves from knowing about God to truly knowing God. That's the turn. Job will concede the Lord's will even as Job does not understand the deeper struggle. The deeper struggle is Satan's, accuser/adversary, challenge that God cannot raise up a people. In other words it is possible that God might be stronger than Satan. However, God is not stronger than his people. His people will never love God just because God is God. Job's concession is more than just an acknowledgement that living in a fallen world is complicated. Job's concession and repentance mean that Job truly seeks God. ConclusionProvidence is not a witty bumper sticker. Not every season is joyful, not every trial comes with an explanation, and God doesn't owe us one. But the God who cares for the ostrich cares infinitely more for those he has redeemed. We might not understand, but Job teaches us that there is a bigger reason. In fact, there is a cosmic battle that wages behind the scenes. We bring our frustrations to him. God commands us to do this in our prayers. We bring these prayers respectfully, not accusatorially. We trust that in the complexity of a fallen world, this Father is working out something good, even when we cannot see it. Let that be our hope. Let us proceed in the confidence that our Lord will shepherd us to the other side of the trial. We know that He can because not only does he care for this creation, but he has redeemed His people. Let us walk in His power, and let us be confident of His shepherding hand leading us through the valley of the shadow of death to green pastures.
