The summer of 2000 continues as Extreme Three Way Dance rolls deeper into the final year of Extreme Championship Wrestling! On Episode 161, JT, Jenny, and Matt head back to the land of extreme to break down the August 11, August 12, and August 18, 2000 episodes of ECW TV. With Justin Credible sitting atop ECW as World Heavyweight Champion, the company continues to push forward through a rapidly changing landscape. Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn remain key pieces of the puzzle, Rhino continues to establish himself as one of the most dangerous forces in the promotion, and ECW's roster battles for position as the summer begins to wind down. JT, Jenny, and Matt dig into all three shows, breaking down the matches, promos, angles, characters, and all of the uniquely ECW insanity along the way. They'll discuss what's working, what definitely isn't, the performers standing out from the pack, and how the promotion is holding up as it moves through the second half of 2000. Plus, the crew hands out their usual grades and awards while continuing to examine the bigger picture of ECW during this fascinating—and increasingly turbulent—final chapter. Fire up the TNN and Hardcore TV tapes and join Extreme Three Way Dance for another trip back to ECW in 2000!     Keywords: ECW, Extreme Championship Wrestling, ECW 2000, ECW TV, ECW on TNN, Hardcore TV, Extreme Three Way Dance, ECW Podcast, Rob Van Dam, RVD, Jerry Lynn, Justin Credible, Rhino, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, Steve Corino, ECW August 2000, Wrestling Podcast, Wrestling History, Classic ECW, Retro Wrestling

The Summer Series concludes with its most unsettling chapter yet. For decades, experiencers have reported encounters with towering insect-like beings unlike anything else in UFO lore. Often referred to as Mantids or Insectoids, these mysterious entities are frequently described as possessing immense intelligence, communicating through telepathy, and silently observing encounters involving both Greys and Nordics. In this episode, Sandman takes a deep dive into the history of the Insectoid phenomenon, examining eyewitness accounts, the research of Budd Hopkins, Dr. John Mack, David Jacobs, and Jacques Vallée, and the competing theories surrounding these enigmatic beings. Are the Mantids extraterrestrial visitors, interdimensional intelligences, symbolic archetypes, or something beyond our current understanding? We'll also explore the controversial Overseer Theory, the debate surrounding hypnotic regression and false memories, the ancient symbolism of insect-like beings throughout history, and why so many witnesses describe the Insectoids as the most intelligent—and perhaps the most unsettling—entities they've ever encountered. Join Sandman as the ParaReality Summer Series reaches its thought-provoking conclusion, bringing together the Greys, the Nordics, and the Insectoids in an exploration of one of the greatest mysteries of our time. Send us Fan MailWendy Stonehenge of the Candy Whips returns to the show to discuss his cover of the classic Heaven 17 song, "(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang', Tour Life, Fatherhood and much more.****"After the doo-wop covers EP Moonlight that I released last year, I wasn't planning on doing more covers for a while. But I was listening to Heaven 17, the pertinence of the lyrics really jumped out at me,” says Wendy Stonehenge, mastermind behind the electro/New Wave-inspired project CANDY WHIPS, about their new single “(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang.” "This song was originally released 45 years ago, and it's more relevant than ever. I decided it needed to be given a new life."Candy Whips interpretation of the classic percolating ‘80s hit slows down the tempo slightly but amplifies the dance groove, allowing the very timely lyrics to breathe. "I knew I had to really reinvent this song in order to pull it off,” explains Stonehenge. “I mean, I couldn't do a faithful cover even if I wanted to. The basslines of Heaven 17's John Wilson are insane. My version is much more stripped down but also even more danceable..this is the first time I've made a straight up dance track. It was a fun challenge to work outside of my usual comfort zone."“(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang” follows Candy Whip's cover EP Moonlight, which features doo wop versions of The Flamingos' “I Only Have Eyes For You,” Marvin and Johnny's “Cherry Pie,” and the Chordettes/Pat Ballard's girl group classic "Mr. Sandman." Moonlight was my way of connecting with those roots of yore,” Stonehenge explains. “Modernizing these songs helped me to be a stronger writer.” Ripe with vocal effects, drum machines, and synths, he breathed new life into the songs by dusting them off and polishing them with modern flourishes. "If I could turn young people on to this older music, that would be amazing," he adds. Known as an established member of the well-known Northern California glam rock band Glitter Wizard, Stonehenge formed Candy Whips as a side project during the pandemic. Using this project as an outlet for music that didn't fit his other band's glamrock mold, he explored synthpop in a more focused way, fusing punk and electronic.Candy Whips is the solo project of Wendy Stonehenge. It's Marvel Monday and the multiverse breaks open! ABOUT SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME With Spider-Man's identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME December 17, 2021 | Theatrical Release CAST & CREW OF SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Director: Jon Watts Writers: Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Stan Lee Cast: Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man Zendaya as MJ Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius/Doc Ock Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS If you recall the end of our last Spidey movie, Quentin Beck exposed Peter Parker as Spider-Man and framed him for his murder. Naturally, Peter's life is thrown into chaos. The Department of Damage Control, something I'm almost positive doesn't actually exist but how can you know, interrogates Peter, MJ, Ned, and Aunt May. Their attorney, Daredevil, gets the charges dismissed. Despite his legal victory, the public turns on him. Feeling bad about screwing up his friends' future, Peter asks Dr. Strange to cast a spell that will make the world forget he's Spider-Man. But Peter keeps interrupting the spell to add people he doesn't want to forget, causing it to go nuts and pull visitors from across the multiverse into their reality. Peter goes to talk to the MIT admissions person but ends up being greeted by Doctor Octopus who seems to know a lot about him despite Peter never meeting him before. Peter learns that the spell has summoned people who know Spider-Man's secret identity from across the multiverse. Strange tasks Peter, MJ, and Ned with capturing the interdimensional visitors, leading them to capture Electro, Sandman, the Lizard, and Norman Osborn. Peter soon realizes that each villain was pulled from their universe moments before their death and believes they deserve a chance at redemption instead of being sent back to die. Defying Strange, Peter steals the spell that would send everyone back to their own dimension and begins developing cures for the villains using Stark technology. Peter successfully restores Doctor Octopus, but Norman's Green Goblin persona takes over once again, convincing the other villains to turn on Peter. This leads to a massive battle that fatally injures Aunt May. Before she dies, she reminds Peter that "with great power, there must also come great responsibility," leaving him devastated and questioning whether he made the right choice. Ned unexpectedly discovers he can use Strange's sling ring to open portals. While searching for Peter, he and MJ instead find two alternate Spider-Men from different universes. Maybe you've seen them before in other movies?! I dunno. The three Peters unite and create cures for each enemy and lure them to the Statue of Liberty for one final showdown. It works! But rifts open across the multiverse. Realizing there is only one solution, Peter asks Strange to cast a new spell that erases Peter Parker from everyone's memory. The spell saves the multiverse, sending everyone back to their own universes. Peter visits MJ and Ned, intending to remind them who he is, but decides not to disrupt the new lives they've built. After paying his respects at Aunt May's grave and sharing a quiet moment with Happy Hogan, Peter embraces a fresh start. Now completely anonymous, he creates a new homemade Spider-Man suit and swings back into the city, beginning the next chapter of his life as a true friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Read transcriptLet's talk about Spider-Man 3, the movie where Sam Raimi looked at “menacing single antagonist” and said no thank you, I would like three, please, and also I would like Peter Parker to dance down the street like he's auditioning for a jazz-hands cult. It's a movie that tried to do everything, mostly succeeded at doing too much, and somehow still made enough money that Activision looked at it and thought: yes, this deserves not one video game, but two, spread across seven different consoles, so that literally nobody in 2007 could escape it. Ambitious! Chaotic! Extremely on brand for the source material! See, there's the fancy version, built by Treyarch for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, where you get a whole open Manhattan to swing around in and the black suit shows up only when the story deems you emotionally ready for it, very mature, very earned. And then there's the completely different budget cousin, built by Vicarious Visions for PS2, Wii, PSP, GBA, and DS, where you can slap the black suit on whenever you feel like being a jerk, the Wii Remote gets to pretend it's a web-shooter, and the DS throws the D-pad in the trash entirely so you can beat up Sandman by poking a touchscreen like it owes you money. Same cover art. Same villains. Practically strangers. Swinging in to help me sort out how many wildly different versions of one questionable movie a single franchise can generate is Harry Steele, co-host of Games on Film, the podcast where he and his brother Rory spend their days grading movies based on video games! Which means Harry has built an entire professional skillset around asking “did Hollywood mess this up,” and today, for one glorious episode, we get to point that same energy directly back at a video game and ask if it managed to mess up the movie right back. Poetic justice! Content symmetry! Whatever you want to call it, it's happening! So grab whichever suit you're feeling today, pick a console, any console, apparently they all made their own decisions, and let's find out if the Spider-Man 3 games handled three villains and seven platforms with any more finesse than the movie handled three villains and one dance number. Learn such things as: How similar do games have to be in order to have the same title? Do movie tie in games really need to care about what happened in the movie? Isn't Spidey supposed to have friends? And so much more! You can find Harry on BlueSky @onlymanwhocan and of course his podcast Games on Film. For nearly eight decades, the Roswell Incident has remained one of the most enduring mysteries in modern history. On July 8, 1947, the U.S. military announced the recovery of a "flying disc" near Roswell, New Mexico—only to reverse its story hours later. What followed was a controversy that continues to spark debate to this day. In this special 79th Anniversary episode of ParaReality, Sandman and Eric "Easy E" Patterson take a deep dive into the case that launched a thousand conspiracy theories. Together, they examine the discovery of the debris field, the military's announcement and retraction, the testimony of Major Jesse Marcel, Project Mogul, Glenn Dennis and the alien body claims, the second crash site theory, Hangar 84, Majestic-12, and Nick Redfern's disturbing alternative explanation involving Cold War psychological warfare and human experimentation. Was Roswell the crash of an extraterrestrial spacecraft? A top-secret military project? A Soviet operation? Or has decades of speculation transformed a misunderstood event into modern mythology? Seventy-nine years later, the questions remain—and the mystery refuses to die. Tim and Frank take on a deceptively simple question: is Spider-Man actually a street-level superhero? By the next morning, three of them were gone. Lori Farmer, age 8. Doris Denise Milner, age 10. Michelle Gussie, age 9. The last thing Lori did was write a letter home to her family. What makes this case even more disturbing: weeks before the murders, a threatening note was found on camp property. It read, "We are on a mission to kill three girls in one tent." Camp directors assumed it was a prank and threw it away. The prime suspect was Gene Leroy Hart, a member of the Cherokee Nation known throughout his community as the Sandman, a man believed to be a shapeshifter. Detectives reported seeing a black dog following them through the woods during the investigation, one that would vanish without a trace. Hart died in prison before a conviction. In 2022, DNA evidence strongly suggested his guilt. The case remains officially unsolved.Oh, and Kristin Chenoweth was supposed to be at that camp. She was sick and stayed home.

Who is Sadie Sink playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and why won't Marvel just confirm that the answer is Firestar? We take a minute to discuss this before diving into our review of "Spider-Man Unmasked!" in which the Spider-Friends go on vacation at the same place as Flash Thompson and decide to ruin his life (again). Because Peter Parker decides to change into his Spider-Man costume while hiding behind a sandcastle on the beach, Sandman discovers Peter's secret identity, because of course the sandcastle was actually Sandman (go with it). Angelica's solution is to trick Flash into putting on a Spider-Man costume and put him next to civilian-clad Peter, so as to confuse Sandman into thinking he didn't know what went on. Which was worse for Flash, this or the Video-Man episode? Hard to say. Next episode: July 5th livestream on our YouTube channel!! We're re-enacting the Chameleon episode. In this episode, Allan McKay sits down with Hnedel Maximore, VFX Supervisor on Spider-Noir, and Brooke Noska, VFX Producer on the series, for a deep dive into the creative, technical, and production challenges behind one of the most visually distinctive Spider-Man projects to date. Hnedel and Brooke break down how they approached Spider-Noir as a grounded detective noir with superhero elements — balancing period-specific world-building, practical production choices, invisible visual effects, and large-scale hero sequences without letting the VFX overwhelm the story. They discuss the early pitch process, building alignment with showrunners and department heads, and why visual effects needed to be involved from pre-production through final delivery. The conversation gets into the unique black-and-white and color workflow for the show, including the technical lift of supporting both versions, building a pipeline across multiple vendors, protecting the noir look while preserving the richness of the color version, and managing the added storage, editorial, review, render, and QC demands that came with that process. They also discuss the importance of reference, from classic noir films and early color processes to nature, micro-photography, ceramics, period New York construction photography, and practical on-set artifacts. Hnedel and Brooke share how those references informed Sandman, Man-Spider, dream sequences, period Manhattan, and the tactile, organic feel of the series. This is a must-listen for VFX artists, supervisors, producers, filmmakers, and Spider-Man fans interested in how large-scale visual effects are planned, produced, supervised, reviewed, and delivered on a major television schedule — especially when the creative goal is not just spectacle, but a world that feels specific, cinematic, painful, grounded, and one-of-a-kind.
