The trench coat is back, the mask is on, and Ben Reilly is officially back in the web-slinging saddle—even if his superhero rust just accidentally saved a mob boss. This week, we are breaking down a massive double-header: Episode 2 ("Tread Lightly") and Episode 3 ("Double Cross") of Spider-Noir.We dive deep into the expanding, gritty landscape of 1930s New York, tracking the clues from Flint Marko's ransacked apartment all the way to the Hooverville raids.Inside This Week's Briefing:The Relapsed Hero: Ben poses as a spectacled plumber to get his gear back, puts Silvermane on notice, and then... completely ruins a police stakeout. We break down that glorious, chaotic car-surfing action sequence and Nic Cage's peak Bogart voice.Sympathy for the "Villains": Spider-Noir is flipping the script on classic Spidey rogues. We react to the live-action debuts of a deteriorating Flint Marko (Sandman) and Lonnie Lincoln (Tombstone) being portrayed as tragic, protective figures rather than outright monsters.Robbie Robertson on the Beat: Robbie gets a firsthand look at the corruption plaguing the city, only for the Daily Bugle to twist the narrative into anti-powered propaganda. We discuss how deep Mayor Morris and Silvermane's ties really go.Cat Hardy's Double Game: Is she a client, a victim, or the mastermind who leaked the liquor transfer in the first place? We map out the clues pointing directly back to The Alcove.Listener Question of the Week: How do you feel about the show turning Sandman and Tombstone's comic book reputations into in-universe political propaganda? Hit us up in the comments or drop us a review with your theories!Don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to the feed. Tread lightly out there, listeners.

What if UFOs aren't extraterrestrial spacecraft at all…but manifestations of something far stranger? In this episode of ParaReality Podcast, Sandman sits down with veteran UFO researcher and author Brent Raynes for a deep exploration into the hidden side of the phenomenon. Drawing from nearly six decades of investigation, Raynes discusses the connections between UFO encounters, Marian apparitions, Mothman, altered states of consciousness, ultraterrestrials, and the enduring influence of legendary researcher John A. Keel. Together, they examine the idea that the paranormal may not be separate phenomena at all—but different masks worn by the same mysterious intelligence. From glowing spheres and contact experiences to psychic phenomena and interdimensional theories, this conversation ventures far beyond traditional “nuts-and-bolts” ufology and into the truly unknown. About the Guest Carly Hunt is the Head of Strategic Partnerships of Showerkap, a UK-based water technology company tackling excessive water consumption in the hospitality sector. With over 20 years in hotel management — latterly focused on energy, waste, and water reduction programmes — Carly brings rare operational depth to the sustainability challenge she's now helping to solve. Her academic background in sustainable tourism (the subject of her university dissertation) makes her return to this space something of a full-circle moment. Episode Summary Water scarcity might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you book a hotel room, but it probably should be. In this episode of Shape the System, host Vincent Turner sits down with Carly Hunt, Head of Strategic Partnerships of Showerkap, to explore how the hospitality industry is one of the heaviest — and least scrutinised — consumers of fresh water on the planet. Hotels can use up to eight times more water than local residents, with individual rooms consuming as much as 1,500 litres per day. Meanwhile, the UK's Environment Agency is forecasting a potential shortfall of 1.4 billion litres per day by 2030, rising to 5 billion by 2050. The numbers are stark, and Carly makes the case that demand reduction — not just supply management — has to be part of the answer. Carly's entry into this space came through two decades of hotel management, where she discovered that energy and waste were relatively easy to monitor and reduce, but water was almost impossible to measure at any meaningful resolution. That gap led her to Showerkap, the brainchild of inventor Steve Harding, which combines three elements that have never previously been integrated in the water sector: fixture-level IoT monitoring across an entire building, a cloud-based analytics platform, and a novel shower fade timer that delivers a real-time behavioural nudge — without restricting flow. The pilot results, run across one floor of the Sandman Hotel at Gatwick Airport, were striking. Prior to the intervention, guests were showering for 35 minutes or more — consuming around 245 litres per session. After the shower fade timer was introduced (set to seven minutes), average shower duration across the 20-room eco-floor dropped to just three minutes and 20 seconds. Overall water usage fell by 58%, energy use by 14%, and the projected saving across the full hotel is approximately 2.7 million litres per year. Of the guests who stayed across nearly a year of the pilot, only three declined to participate in the eco-floor — a participation rate that Carly and Vincent calculate at roughly 99%. The commercial case is deliberately straightforward: Showerkap is targeting a two-year payback period, meaning hotels can effectively finance the installation against the savings it generates. Beyond the headline water and energy savings, the technology surfaces hidden operational value — the Sandman pilot uncovered hot water circulation issues throughout the building and enabled early detection of Legionella risk. The go-to-market strategy currently leans on pilots and case studies to build trust in a space where water has historically been undervalued, with an eye toward expansion into the Mediterranean, MENA, and other water-scarce markets. An upcoming back-of-house research piece, potentially in partnership with the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, is expected to extend Showerkap's evidence base well beyond the bathroom. Key Takeaways Hotels use up to eight times more water per person than local residents, with some rooms consuming up to 1,500 litres per day — making demand reduction in hospitality a high-leverage intervention. Showerkap's pilot at the Sandman Hotel, Gatwick, achieved a 58% reduction in shower water usage and cut energy consumption by 14%, with average shower times dropping from 35+ minutes to under three and a half minutes. The technology's payback period is approximately two years, making it financeable against projected savings — a critical threshold for hotel procurement teams weighing up an unfamiliar category. Behavioural nudges, not flow restrictions, drive the results: the shower fade timer gives guests a gentle cue and the option to continue, yet the vast majority choose to reduce — suggesting most water waste is habitual rather than intentional. Showers account for over 50% of hotel bathroom water use, but the IoT platform also surfaces back-of-house inefficiencies in kitchens, laundry, and plumbing systems — unlocking operational and maintenance savings beyond the guest experience. Notable Quotes "Water is one of the most vital resources on earth. And we all know that. And we rarely treat it that way because we automatically run a tap and it's there." — Carly Hunt "Reducing showers by just a couple of minutes can save 20 litres. And if those small actions become millions, then think of the impact that would have." — Carly Hunt "We always say that water intrinsically is linked to everything. We can't do anything without water." — Carly Hunt "We don't want to force anyone to change, because that doesn't work. You have to effectively give them the tools to actually do it themselves." — Carly Hunt Resources Showerkap Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (mentioned in episode) Shape the System is an independent podcast with support from KPMG High Growth Ventures More about KPMG High Growth VenturesScale up for success. What if UFOs aren't random… but organized? In this episode of the ParaReality Podcast, Sandman takes a deep dive into three of the most commonly reported UFO shapes in modern history: the classic saucer-shaped craft, the mysterious Black Triangle, and the massive cigar-shaped UFO. But this isn't just a discussion about strange objects in the sky—it's an exploration of a far more unsettling possibility. What if these different UFO types aren't isolated sightings at all? What if they serve different functions within a larger, coordinated system? Using real eyewitness testimony, military encounters, historical case studies, and documented reports—including the Phoenix Lights, the Belgian UFO Wave, the Washington D.C. UFO Incident, and the USS Nimitz UFO Incident—this episode examines the theory that UFOs may operate as part of a structured hierarchy: scouts, surveillance craft, and possibly even larger “mothership”-style objects operating behind the scenes. Are these sightings evidence of advanced military technology, non-human intelligence, or something even stranger? Tonight, we connect the patterns and ask the question that changes everything: What if they're already here… and have been for a very long time? Keep your eyes on the sky. Spider Noir's New Trailer, DCU Changes, and a trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes. The official trailer for Prime Video's Spider-Noir was released on Saturday during Mexico City's CCXP pop culture festival. In addition to showcasing our most significant looks at Nicolas Cage in the role, gumshoe Ben Reilly, alongside glimpses of villains Sandman, Electro, Tombstone and Brendan Gleeson's yet-to-be-named mob boss character, the trailer also emphasized the series availability to stream in true noir black and white, or color which they have dubbed “True-Hue Full Color”. Saturday's CCXP Mexico was also the site for HBO Max's unveiling of a new official teaser trailer for House of the Dragon's third season. In typical Game of Thrones fashion, the one minute 55 second teaser hints at power struggles and with high production value on display seemed to deliver on the cast members and showrunners promises of more battles, blood and, of course, dragons. It's been a little quiet on the DCU front outside of last week's Clayface trailer, but we now have multiple updates on multiple projects in the cooker, or perhaps not. First, James Gunn revealed that the DCU movie The Authority is no longer in active development. First announced in he and Peter Safrans' 2023 DCU announcements, Gunn said the film's script “wasn't there” and that it didn't fit into the larger DCU. And regarding the franchise's streaming output, HBO and DC temporarily removed the Lanterns trailer from all official platforms without explanation, possibly due to a music licensing issue with a Bruce Springsteen track used in the teaser; but the trailer is now live again with the song in question removed and added text indicating an August release for the series.Lionsgate's Michael set the record for biggest opening weekend for a musical biopic with $97M domestically and $217M globally, dethroning The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and surpassing the previous record held by Straight Outta Compton at $60.2M.Paramount has released the first teaser trailer for season 4 of Star Trek Strange New Worlds and announced a release date. The upcoming season premiere will debut globally on July 23. The 10-episode season rolls out weekly on Thursdays through Sept. 24Studios and streamers are currently bidding on a feature adaptation of the Battlefield video games which has Mission Impossible filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie attached to write and direct and Sinners star Michael B. Jordan attached to produce and possibly star.As the final season of Prime Video's The Boys comes to a close, the streamer has confirmed that spin off series Gen V will end with the previously aired season 2 and will not continue for a third season and that series prequel Vought Rising will debut sometime in 2027.AppleTV has announced that season 4 of Ted Lasso will debut on August 5th and have released a first look teaser trailer for the upcoming season.Laura Dern has joined the cast of season 4 of HBO's The White Lotus. In an interview with CinemaHub, Andy Serkis seemingly accidentally revealed that Iman Vellani is in Avengers: Doomsday. Step back in time with this episode of ParaReality Flashback as Sandman revisits an early chapter of the show—Season 1, Episode 4: Spontaneous Human Combustion. Explore the eerie phenomenon of bodies reportedly burning to ash without an external ignition source, and the scientific explanations like the “wick effect” that attempt to demystify it. Originally recorded in 2004, this episode captures the raw beginnings of ParaReality, complete with early-day audio, nostalgic references to chatrooms and Microsoft NetMeeting, and a host still finding his voice. Imperfect, authentic, and packed with curiosity—this is where the journey started. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On this episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff and Conrad Thompson are back to tackle some of the biggest talking points in professional wrestling today. Eric weighs in on why WWE keeps returning to Las Vegas and what makes the city such a reliable hub for major events. Bischoff also breaks down the business logic behind bringing celebrities into main events, explaining why it continues to be a winning formula when done right. Plus, he shares his candid thoughts on WrestleMania becoming increasingly packed with commercials, and why that approach can both help and hurt the overall product. The conversation heats up as Eric questions whether Brock Lesnar is truly finished with wrestling, and offers some strong advice to WWE on protecting the momentum of rising star Oba Femi. And in a fun twist, Conrad draws comparisons between Danhausen and The Sandman, asking whether Danhausen's personality could be this generation's version of the hardcore icon. Fresh off WrestleMania week in Las Vegas, Referee George Ross joins Sorg and Intern Tony for a loaded episode of the Wrestling Mayhem Show. George comes in running on fumes after working multiple shows across WrestleMania week, and the crew breaks down everything from the biggest Mania takeaways to the wild energy surrounding independent wrestling in Vegas. They dig into the good, the weird, and the frustrating parts of WrestleMania weekend, including Danhausen's buzzworthy appearance, the growing frustration over ESPN commercial breaks, the rising cost and complexity of keeping up with WWE across multiple platforms, and whether the WrestleMania experience feels less fan-friendly than it did five or ten years ago. George also shares firsthand stories from the indie side of WrestleMania week, including bizarre gimmick matches, Sandman's chaotic final match appearance, touring with JCW, and the kind of surreal moments that only happen during Mania weekend. The crew also talks about intrusive fan behavior around wrestlers in public, why boundaries matter more than ever, and what this all says about modern wrestling fandom. Plus, the gang closes out with a memorable What We Learned segment touching on Vegas, Roman Reigns, Corey Graves, and more wrestling absurdity.

In addition to being an accomplished lawyer and a highly influential music critic, the nineteenth-century German Romantic Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann (1776-1822) also wrote pioneering works of crime and horror fiction, including The Sandman, Mademoiselle de Scuderi, and The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, which inspired Tchaikovsky's famous ballet. In this episode, Ritchie Robertson (E.T.A. Hoffmann: A Critical Life) tells Jacke about this amazing writer and his works. PLUS a letter by Chekhov on the secret to writing great short stories. Road Trip After Hours w/ WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and Host Mac Davis
Ric Flair goes off, WWE pulls a deal, and the internet does what it always does next: it turns a real business problem into a public legacy fight. We read the quote, react in real time, and talk about the part nobody wants to admit out loud, that social media can make even the most iconic pro wrestling careers look smaller when the emotion takes over. If you care about wrestling history, WWE politics, and how legends protect their name, you'll hear the tension between “character” and “real life” in a way that feels uncomfortably familiar. Then we get into WrestleMania weekend mode with our Las Vegas plans, plus a shoutout to Juggalo Championship Wrestling and the kind of indie wrestling creativity that keeps the scene unpredictable. From there, the show takes a left turn when Glenn “Big Nasty” Williams drops in unexpectedly to talk SICW Fan Fest 4, old school wrestling tradition, and how performance experience outside the ring can shape what happens inside it. It's part comedy, part respect, and part challenge, exactly how wrestling conversations tend to go when egos and opportunity share the same room. The mailbag brings the chaos and the craft: Sandman vs the Invisible Man at GCW Spring Break, the importance of crowd psychology, Teddy's pick for the most rabid wrestling crowds, and a Vince McMahon request that still makes us laugh. We also hit modern wrestling development, why “on-the-job training” is so common now, and why Tony Khan sounds best when he stops selling and starts speaking like himself. Subscribe, share the show with a wrestling friend, and leave a review, then tell us what topic you want us to argue about next.Send us Fan Mail

Comic book artist Sam Kieth passed away earlier this month as a result of Lewy Body dementia, so our Lore Watch Podcast team wanted to take an episode to talk about his impact on the genre and pop culture as a whole. Both Sam Kieth's art style and plotlines shaped comics as we moved into a more grimdark take on the old heroes. Sam's comic The Maxx put him on the map, and his collaboration with now-notorious Neil Gaiman on The Sandman clinched his place in the pantheon of early 90s comics creators. And that was just the start of his career, which included a turn writing Batman, and later included a crossover with The Maxx as one of his final projects.Because Sam Kieth's comics deal with some heavy topics, this episode comes with a content warning for topics ranging from murder and gore to dissociative identity disorder and sexual assault. While we don't linger on these topics in-depth, they are present as a part of the discussion. If you enjoy the show, please support us on Patreon, where you can get these episodes early and ad-free! What happens when superhero comics get weird—like, really weird? On this episode of "Unsung Ink," we explore the world of Sam Kieth, a creator who bent anatomy, tone, and storytelling into something wholly his own. We dig into Kieth's early days in comics, from his inking work on Mage with Matt Wagner to his memorable contributions to The Sandman alongside Neil Gaiman. From there, we discuss his underrated run on Marvel Comics Presents with Peter David—work that helped define his elastic, expressive style. Of course, no conversation about Kieth is complete without diving into his creator-owned projects, including The Maxx, Zero Girl, and Four Women—books that blended psychological depth and surrealism in ways that still feel ahead of their time. Following his passing on March 15 at the age of 63, we take a moment to reflect on Sam Kieth's legacy—a true original, and a voice in comics that can't be replicated. Rest in peace.
