We're a little late with a Christmas episode, but luckily we have picked a Christmas movie that has ZERO to do with Christmas. We watched 1988's Hypno Horror, The Brain. A movie chock full of rubber monstrosities and genres of music never heard of before or since.Unfortunately Dave could not be with us this week, so join Ian & Warren as they discuss the science of Sodium, speedy local newspapers, & the biology of space brains that are trying to enslave the human race for no discernible reason!
In todays episode Crodger talks to Long time friends and band mates Blair Wilkie and Jon Allott. Blair, Jon and Crodger have been in band together for over 12 years with Dave March. Unfortunately Dave could not make it to this episode but is penciled in for a later date. After a drunk conversation they recorded a song titled "Your Choice One Voice" written by their band The Shuffle.Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/vcbpodcast)

Dave Pickerell was a huge force in American whiskey over that last several decades. Unfortunately Dave passed away at age 62 on November 1 of this year, 2018 in San Francisco. He was there attending WhiskeyFest. He was a big proponent of Rye Whiskey and played a huge roll in the resurgence of American Rye Whiskey. Rest in Peace Mr. Dave Pickerell. You’ll be sorely missed.
EPISODE 027 DREDD, STRAW DOGS, THE JUNGLE BOOK For all you Dave fans out there (both of you) we can only apologise and offer our deepest condolences in his absence. Unfortunately Dave had to attend a funeral and wasn't in the mood to turn on the charm and record a podcast, you'll have to make do with Moid and Russ. Dave will return in a couple of weeks. The show must go on. When Moid and Russ get together they tend to take the opportunity to clear a backlog and deliver as many reviews as they can. So, after a brief chat about Russ' tattoos we have 13 movies to ponder, prod and pick apart. ENJOY. BEEN FLICKED ROMAN J. ISRAEL, ESQ (2017) Both Russ and Moid were big fans of Dan Gilroy's previous film, Nightcrawler, Russ watched this with high expectations. FRANK (2014) As a lover of quirky independent film Moid has had this on the radar for a while. As if to prove it's meta credentials this is as quirky and indy as the subject matter but with Michael Fassbender entombed in a big paper mâché head. It's as weird as loveable as it sounds. GINGER SNAPS (2000) Trying his best not be out-weirded by Frank, Russ watched this werewolf movie that is based on ginger girls turning into werewolves because they started their periods when a full moon was out? Pretty sure that's what Russ said, I wasn't listening. LET ME IN (2010) Quite a rarity in the film world. A remake of a great film that isn't total cash grab abomination. We recommend you also watch the 2008 Swedish original, Let the right one in. Go on, let her in, she won't bite. THE DOGS OF WAR (1980) I think we all agree that we all want to watch this just to experience Christopher Walken doing a full on Christopher Walken. DREDD (2012) Oh the pressure. Moid has Judge Dredd and 2000 AD to thank for his love of comics and Russ considers this one of the best adaptations around. What will Moid think? Does anybody care? STRAW DOGS (1971) The original and gritty cult classic. Nuff said. THE JUNGLE BOOK (2016) Moid still has the original animated film on his List Of Shame but chose to watch this instead. For the second movie in one show we a chance to see the great man Christoper Walken in action. DRUGSTORE COWBOY (1989) Matt Dillon, where are you hiding? Somebody give this guy a job, he's great. Kelly Lynch, Not so much. SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD (2012) Admit it, you want to watch this based on the title and the poster? Steve Carell delivers another of those straight faced performances that somehow make you laugh. It's the end of the world as we know it. TAKE YOUR PILLS (2018) This Netflix documentary really hit a nerve with both Moid and Russ. Russ had to have a lie down, and take some pills. FRACTURE (2007) Moid continues his Gosgasm with this unremarkable looking movie. Everything about it looks middle of the road. Will it defy expectations? I KILL GIANTS (2017) Let's not judge a book by it's cover, but that is an awesome poster. Russ cried like a little girl at this, I think that means he liked it? The Snakeskin Movie Lounge is a fiercely independent podcast. We are commercial free, not part of a network and totally self funded. The only payment we accept is a 5 star rating and review on iTunes, it really helps like minded people find the show. Have you heard our most popular episodes? Episode 008: THE LIST OF SHAME. EP 025: Oldboy, Chef, Bullet In The Head.
Every wanted to go to Iceland? Well now you don't have to! Dave spills all from his week in Iceland, from the Blue Lagoon to the Northern Lights, this episode is not to be missed! Unfortunately Dave needs to leave mid-episode this week due to a minor emergency, but don’t worry, he’ll be back next time! Before he takes off though, he gets to hear Evan talk about BAD MOMS (at 3:46). Evan describes why this unfunny comedy has a noble message that it stupidly undermines the entire time. He also describes why it can’t seem figure out how far to go with its jokes. Following that, Kris reviews the much-anticipated SUICIDE SQUAD (at 22:14). Sadly, he has more good things to say about the burger he ate after the movie than the movie itself. Over the course of his talk, he reveals why he upgraded his review from, “It’s stupid, don’t see it,” to “It’s toxic, shun it.” Finally Evan and Kris conclude with STRANGER THINGS (at 42:28), the Netflix series that everyone has been talking about. They delve into the show’s layered plot, sharing exactly why it resonated with them. And of course, because this is Spoilerpiece Theatre, they dig into some plot holes that got on their nerves in an otherwise tremendous series.
Unfortunately Dave can’t make it for a full show, but he is able to squeeze in a segment of Riedel’s Recaps. All is not lost though, since fan favorite Sean Burns fills in. He and Evan start out by talking YOUTH, a film that they don’t agree on. Evan hates how disjointed it is, while Sean digs how bonkers it is. Then they toss it over to Kris, who breaks down Spike Lee’s CHI-RAQ, which has a happy Wesley Snipes, a surprising John Cusack, and characters speaking in verse. It’s got a lot of super-Spike-Lee stuff that makes Sean super excited to see it. After that Evan and Sean tackle ROOM, another movie they can’t agree on. Sean isn’t a fan of its inconsistent style, but Evan thinks Brie Larson is fantastic and finds its escape scene riveting. Finally, Kris and Sean discuss LEGEND, a crime movie with Tom Hardy that has structure problems and brothers who seem like they’re from different planets. It all ends with tangents about Universal awards season screeners and drunk dialing. Stay tuned though until the very end for a sultry post-ending song surprise.
