Frank White (Christopher Walken) is a drug kingpin who just got out of prison and is eager to restart his criminal enterprise with his long-term lietenant Jimmy Jump (Laurence Fishburne) helping to lead the way. And off the bat, he goes hard after every rival gang and starts to see success.....only there's crew of NYPD cops who are after him lead by Roy Bishop (Victor Argo) and they're getting close. And what results is a hyper-violent crime drama featuring an all-star cast including David Caruso, Wesley Snipes, Giancarlo Esposito, and Steve Buscemi. Directed by New York legend and long-timer indie auteur Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, Ms. 45), this came out in the Fall of 1990 amidst a glut of more celebrated gangster movies (Goodfellas, Miller's Crossing, New Jack City) so it got lost in the shuffle but it has since gone on to develop a devoted cult following. So let's head back to the mean streets of late '80's New York and find out....who becomes The King! Tara Erickson & Aaron Alexander react to Blade: Trinity (2004), the explosive horror-action comic book sequel directed by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight). The film marks the third chapter in Marvel's original vampire-slayer trilogy, led by Wesley Snipes (Demolition Man, New Jack City) as the half-human, half-vampire hunter Blade, battling to rid the world of bloodsuckers once and for all. This time, Blade faces his most dangerous enemy yet — the resurrected Dracula, known here as Drake, played by Dominic Purcell (Prison Break, Legends of Tomorrow). He's not alone in the fight: joining him are Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Free Guy) as the wisecracking Hannibal King and Jessica Biel (The Illusionist, 7th Heaven) as the fierce and tech-savvy Abigail Whistler, daughter of Blade's longtime mentor. The film also stars Kris Kristofferson (A Star Is Born, Payback) reprising his role as Whistler, Parker Posey (Superman Returns, Dazed and Confused) as the stylish and scheming Danica Talos, and Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) in a supporting turn as Hedges, a weapons expert for the Nightstalkers team. Iconic and highly searched moments include the opening vampire raid, Ryan Reynolds' hilarious one-liners, Blade's showdown with Dracula, and the UV light final battle, all set to a pounding early-2000s soundtrack. Blending gothic horror, comic-book spectacle, and razor-sharp martial arts, Blade: Trinity brings the trilogy to a fiery close and showcases Snipes' final turn as the Daywalker. Directed by Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan's Labyrinth), Blade II (2002) takes Marvel's Daywalker saga to new, blood-soaked heights. Wesley Snipes (Demolition Man, White Men Can't Jump) returns as Blade, the half-human, half-vampire warrior sworn to rid the world of the undead. This time, Blade must form an uneasy alliance with the Bloodpack — a lethal team of vampires led by Nyssa Damaskinos (Leonor Varela – Cleopatra, Arrested Development) and Asad (Danny John-Jules – Red Dwarf, Maid Marian and Her Merry Men) — to stop a terrifying new breed of predator: the Reapers. With their grotesque split jaws and insatiable thirst, the Reapers threaten both humans and vampires alike. Seanan is back in MO and we're back with a new episode talking about one of the OG Marvel films before the MCU made a trillion dollars - Blade, starring Wesley Snipes! Something something ice skating uphill!
No it's not the sequel to the 1998 hit Blade where they add another Wesley Snipes; it's the golf course lawnmower parody of Jaws. Brought into homes by Troma, of course, and inflicted upon this show by Bigfoot Ben. Brian and Steve suffer through this no-Pro, only Am joke that should've been a 3 minute fake trailer instead of full length film over 90 minutes. Plus our November Showdown topic announced! Send us a textRyan Reynolds has performed a miracle with Deadpool & Wolverine, crafting what feels like an extended apology letter to fans who've suffered through the MCU's recent disappointments. This isn't just another superhero movie – it's a statement that someone at Marvel finally understands what audiences have been craving all along. The film thrives on the undeniable chemistry between Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, creating a dynamic that's both hilariously antagonistic and surprisingly emotional. What makes this pairing work so brilliantly is how the film doesn't shy away from acknowledging the questionable decision to resurrect Wolverine after his perfect send-off in Logan. Instead, it leans into the absurdity through its multiverse framework, while simultaneously mocking the very concept that has become Marvel's narrative crutch.Where Deadpool & Wolverine truly shines is in its willingness to be unabashedly entertaining without the burden of social commentary that has weighed down recent Marvel entries. The film is packed with cameos and references that reward longtime fans, from Wesley Snipes reclaiming his role as Blade to Channing Tatum finally getting his chance to play Gambit. These moments feel like genuine celebrations of Marvel's cinematic history rather than cheap nostalgia bait. While some references might be too niche for casual viewers, they demonstrate a deep respect for the source material and the fans who've remained loyal despite the studio's recent missteps. If this marks Marvel's return to prioritizing entertainment over messaging, it couldn't have come at a better time. Subscribe to our podcast for more honest takes on the latest blockbusters and let us know if you think this signals Marvel's comeback! Support the show
Send us a textStep into the blood-soaked underworld where vampires rule the night and only one man walks between worlds. Wesley Snipes' portrayal of Blade isn't just a performance—it's a declaration of superhero cinema's untapped potential that continues to resonate decades later. What made the 1998 Blade so revolutionary was its complete disinterest in franchise-building. Before shared universes dominated the landscape, this film stood confidently alone, establishing its own unique visual identity and R-rated sensibilities. The result? A marvel property that doesn't feel like a "Marvel movie" at all.Snipes brings an undeniable magnetism that elevates every scene. His physical prowess shines through extended fight sequences captured in long takes—no quick cuts hiding stunt doubles here. Even when delivering the corniest lines imaginable, there's something mesmerizing about his presence that makes it all work. As one viewer notes, "If you can take something that's not cool at all and create a character that makes that cool, you get a guaranteed hit."The film's practical effects and minimal CGI give it a gritty authenticity that many modern superhero films lack. While some visual effects might look dated ("like PlayStation 1" as one fan puts it), they're used sparingly enough to maintain the film's impact. Stephen Dorff's Frost provides an interesting villain, though his character development sometimes feels rushed or incomplete compared to the fully realized Daywalker. With Blade's recent cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine sparking renewed interest, the question remains: would you prefer a complete reboot or a proper Blade 4 with Wesley Snipes getting the send-off this iconic character deserves? With Tobin out, it's a Marcos-led ride from start to finish, and things go off the rails immediately in the best way possible. We kick things off with Hall of Fame Game hype, Eric Allen's distractingly beautiful eyes, and a deep philosophical debate: should the Marlins hovering around .500 actually be celebrated? Marcos brings the chaos with a Day to Day segment, revealing today's National Days and celebrity birthdays — which somehow unlocks a wild club story from Leroy's past involving Wesley Snipes. Then, Hour Tua begins, and so does the madness. Leroy recounts his break saga involving eggs, bacon, and a shirt that overstayed its welcome. The crew attempts (and fails) to prepare him for British culture ahead of his trip. Things go completely sideways as we trade embarrassing bathroom stories, analyze the Dolphins' defense, and — yes — even talk nose hairs. Sports? Don't worry, we eventually circle back with the Miami Heat's shocking connection to the biggest memorabilia heist in sports history. Hour 3 keeps the criminal theme going as we unpack Gilbert Arenas allegedly running a casino out of his house (with his name literally on the tables), and Marcus Morris getting called out for owing over $200K to a casino. Somehow, we pivot into a debate on moms, dads, and which zodiac signs are truly insufferable. We round it out with a skeptical round of Goosies or No Goosies, as a Miami Hurricanes recruit's superhuman strength fails to impress. Finally, in Hour 4, we hit headlines and wrap up with the return of “Why You Always Lyin? – Brittney Edition.” She tries to fool the crew with three wild statements: an obsession with 50 Cent, bad driving habits, or a celebrity run-in. Only one is true — and you won't believe which it is.
With Tobin out, it's another Marcos-led takeover, and we dive right in as we gear up for tonight's Hall of Fame Game. Marcos runs through this year's Hall of Fame inductees — though let's be honest, all anyone can talk about are Eric Allen's mesmerizing eyes. We shift gears to the Marlins: hovering near the .500 mark — is that something to celebrate, or just a step in the right direction? Then it's time for a classic Marcos segment: Day to Day, where we break down today's National Days and famous birthdays. Things take a wild turn when Leroy shares a traumatic (and hilarious) flashback involving none other than Wesley Snipes at the club back in the day!

Old Man Movie Summer continues with the hoops playground classic White Men Can't Jump. This show quietly became 33 years old this year which surprised people I mentioned this to - including myself. Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson star as Sidney Deane and Billy Hoyle and from their 1st showdown - nope Sidney wasn't going to Sizzler - their chemistry is electric, even if Wesley's hoop skills were…problematic. The action is fun, the dialogue is snappy, there was a legendary cameo by Marques Johnson and the trash talking was practically its own character. (How was there not a Larry Bird cameo??) Pop in for the fun, pile into the comments and at least give us a Go Big Red. If enough of you tune in tomorrow night, I promise to lower the temp in Omaha and Lincoln by 20 degrees - Promise!!

This week Bryan and Dave take you back to the New York City of 1990 with a look at what might be Abel Ferrara's most focused movie, King of New York. With a dynamite cast of killers, including Christopher Walken at his best, Laurence Fishburne carrying practically the entire movie on his shoulders, David Caruso, Wesley Snipes, and Giancarlo Esposito, King of New York presents a morally gray crime movie where everyone, even the cops, are just the worst. Crime is the blood that keeps the city alive in this movie and an unreliable narrator is going to do his best to convince you that his crusade to run the criminal underground and thereby the entire city is just, good, and right. Stylish, slick, and kinetic, King of New York is like a Pixies song with loud, outrageous, and violent scenes of criminal carnage punctuated by quiet meditations on morality. It's bleak, nihilistic, and the brothers can't help but notice that this very-much American cops and robbers movie feels much, much more like the Italian Polizziotteschi reflections which makes the film's subtle social and political undertones feel that much more pronounced.Join the Bring Me The Axe Discord: https://discord.gg/snkxuxzJSupport Bring Me The Axe! on Patreon: https://patreon.com/bringmetheaxepodBuy Bring Me The Axe merch here:https://www.bonfire.com/store/bring-me-the-axe-podcast/
We're police officers! We're not trained to handle this kind of violence! In a world where one man has only seen 30 or so movies comes a desire to learn from a master. A master of film. A master of cinema. A master who has led such a sad life. Logan seeks the knowledge and he turns to his own personal “Yoda”; Keithie. Join Logan & Keithie on a wild adventure to discover as we watch along with a new movie each episode in THE MOVIE EDUCATION OF LOGAN CROSLAND. This episode, Logan & Keithie (with a mid-movie tag in from everyone's favorite 9021-NoSo Host Tim Capel) take on Matt Souzapalooza's pick Demolition Man. Sylvester Stallone & Wesley Snipes are constantly fined "1 Credit" in this action-packed thrill ride. Can Sandra Bullock control this much testosterone? Will Dennis Leary entertain and inform? Can Nigel Hawthorne or Bob Gunton enjoy their peace and quiet? Highly unlikely to all these questions. And of course we talk about the three seashells. Bad language, chocolate, gasoline, uneducational toys and anything spicy. Abortion is also illegal, but then again so is pregnancy if you don't have a licence.

1994 proved to be one of the most fertile years for Beatles-inspired filmmaking. The titles of cinematic classics either directly about The Beatles (“The Secret Of Roan Inish”, “Blue Chips”) or clearly inspired by their music (“Ski School 2”, “Wesley Snipes' Sugar Hill”) were '94's dominant cultural and commercial hits. (Yeah, go ahead and f off, “The Air Up There”.) Perhaps the most notable fab film from that year was “Backbeat”, which focused primarily on Stuart Stucliffe's brief but incredibly/debatably important tenure as a Beatle. What does the film get right? What does it get terribly, offensively wrong? How do Beatles (and cinema, damn it) EXPERTS Tony & T.J. feel the film holds up on its' 31st anniversary? (Forgot about that milestone, huh, Calderstone/Polydor??) The Gab Two deep dish “Backbeat”, and more, including:

“Well, pumpkins, looks like it's the age-old dilemma. Style...or substance.” It's Pride season, and we watched the larger-than-life drag classic “To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything. Julie Newmar,” and we need a recount of our Princess Points. Over the past 30 years, this movie has secured itself as one of the most quotable comedies of the 90s. This isn't just a funny gay movie; this is a funny movie, period. We promise we didn't spend the entire 90 minutes parroting our favorite quotes back and forth, but when we did… we just couldn't help ourselves. Our three leads took these roles, inhabited them, and as the kids these days say— they ate. And left no crumbs. Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguizamo took a huge risk accepting these roles, but boy did it pay off. Miss Vida Boheme, Noxeema Jackson, and Chi Chi Rodriguez are on the Mount Rushmore of movie drag queens, and this movie is a treasure to the gays. We acknowledge some gender issues that are at play and some outdated terminology, but the script and the performances all came from a place of love. Clock the Grande Dames of drag in the opening and closing scenes and try to keep tally with us. Get ready for a fun one… Red and Wild. That's our theme!
