Friday mornings are supposed to be easy. Then somebody admits they didn't know what a Long John donut was, and suddenly the entire show is questioning regional food names, the identity of John himself, and whether America can ever truly heal.On this episode of The Rizzuto Show, the gang kicks things off with an unexpectedly passionate discussion about Long Johns, eclairs, and why every city insists on calling the same food something completely different. From there, things get appropriately ridiculous. In music news, Ace Frehley's legendary 1975 Gibson Les Paul sells for over half a million dollars, proving that Kiss fans remain one of the most dedicated—and financially dangerous—fan bases on Earth. The crew dives into the legacy of the iconic guitar, the musicians inspired by it, and why certain pieces of rock history carry a price tag bigger than most houses. The conversation then shifts to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, where former guitarist Josh Klinghoffer says his era with the band has basically been erased from history. The gang debates forgotten albums, band politics, and why some musicians act like entire chapters of their careers never happened.Elsewhere, Madonna surprises fans with a pop-up Pride performance in Times Square, Ted Danson opens up once again about one of the most controversial moments of his career, and Bret Michaels' daughter shares stories about growing up backstage at Poison concerts that absolutely sound like they came from another planet.Movie fans get fed as the crew breaks down reviews for the new Masters of the Universe film, debates whether nostalgia can carry a franchise forever, and discusses famous movie mistakes that accidentally became iconic scenes. Plus, Nightcrawler gets some love, The Birdcage remains a classic, and everyone learns that sometimes the best moments in cinema happen when things go completely off the rails. Then comes the emotional damage. The crew discovers what modern audiences consider "dad rock," and let's just say nobody was emotionally prepared to hear Blink-182, Linkin Park, Korn, Creed, and Fall Out Boy thrown into the same category as classic rock legends. Time comes for us all. You'll also get celebrity birthdays, weird entertainment news, upcoming events, concert talk, and the usual collection of random tangents that somehow make perfect sense inside this daily comedy show. It's another completely normal day for a group of people who somehow get paid to have these conversations.Whether you're here for rock news, celebrity gossip, movie debates, or watching grown adults struggle with the passage of time, this daily comedy show has everything you need to make your Friday slightly more productive—or significantly less productive. Thanks for making The Rizzuto Show part of your routine. The crew kicks things off with air show excitement taking over St. Louis. Between Blue Angels screaming across the sky, traffic nightmares in Chesterfield Valley, food truck plans, soccer matches, and Moon somehow scheduling approximately 47 events in a single Saturday, the weekend is already off to a chaotic start. The team also swaps stories about hidden local gems, parks they've somehow ignored for years, and the eternal struggle of trying to get anywhere during a major regional event.Steve Ewing, his wife Beth, and the tragic loss of their dog after an attack in Tower Grove Park. The gang shares thoughts on responsible pet ownership, leash laws, dog training, accountability, and the kind of people who make terrible situations even worse by running away from them. It's an emotional discussion that highlights how quickly an ordinary day can become unforgettable. What's worse—finding out your child is being bullied or finding out your child is the bully? That launches a flood of personal stories, old-school parenting advice, schoolyard fight memories, gym teachers who looked the other way, and lessons learned from growing up in a world where conflict usually worked itself out one way or another. They debate about things that were ruined once too many people discovered them. Food trucks. Craft beer. Airbnb. Festivals. Etsy. Secret parking spots. National parks. Podcasts. Nothing is safe. If you've ever loved something before it became wildly popular and slightly unbearable, you'll probably find yourself nodding along while simultaneously realizing you might be part of the problem. An Olive Garden server receives a massive $700 tip, management gets involved, fraud reviews begin, accusations start flying, Facebook explodes, and suddenly nobody knows who to believe. Along the way you'll hear tales of childhood heroes, local legends, travel headaches, restaurant pet peeves, and the type of random conversations that somehow only make sense when heard together. That's what happens when a group of friends sits down with microphones and starts following every ridiculous tangent to its natural conclusion.Rizz didn't know what a Long John donut was?Which led to a passionate discussion about Long Johns, eclairs, and why every city insists on calling the same food something completely different. From there, things get appropriately ridiculous. In music news, Ace Frehley's legendary 1975 Gibson Les Paul sells for over half a million dollars, proving that Kiss fans remain one of the most dedicated—and financially dangerous—fan bases on Earth. Time comes for us all.The gang dives headfirst into one of the most ridiculous E-Memoriums we've had in a while, featuring cheese addiction, public stupidity, psychedelic suburban dads, shattered aviation dreams, and one of the most unexpectedly wholesome surprises we've ever pulled off.Rafe kicks things off by documenting his descent into dairy madness after being forced onto a 90-day elimination diet. What started as a simple food sensitivity test has turned into a full-blown cheese withdrawal situation. We're talking Gouda cravings, cheddar desperation, and behavior that would get you escorted directly out of a Target. If you've ever loved cheese enough to question your life choices, you'll feel seen.Meanwhile, Rizz discovers there's now a Lost Boys musical on Broadway. That's right. Somewhere, a vampire is singing show tunes and Gen X dads everywhere are suddenly considering season tickets. The crew debates Broadway shows, Book of Mormon, and whether Lost Boys might be the gateway drug that finally gets middle-aged rock fans into theater. Then comes one of the week's strangest news stories as the gang revisits the infamous Hooters incident involving a customer who somehow managed to turn a chicken wing restaurant into the site of a criminal investigation. It leads to a conversation that proves common sense may officially be extinct. The laughs keep coming when Rizz recounts his Primus concert experience. What should have been a nostalgic night of music instead became a fascinating study of what happens when suburban dads try to reconnect with their youth through psychedelics while simultaneously worrying about mortgages, roofing contractors, colonoscopies, and elevated heart rates. It's less Woodstock and more West County Wellness Check. After learning he lost his chance to fly with the Blue Angels, Moon was genuinely crushed. What follows is one of the coolest surprises we've ever pulled off. With help from an incredible listener, a Blue Angels-themed Corvette Stingray appears outside the station, giving Moon the next best thing to taking flight. This is a fixed version that should not cut off.  Oh no, it looks like Jeff and Rick have been locked in a closet and now have to talk about a selection of scenes from other comic books. They must have run out of money for their show, or lost a bet. One of the two. It does not matter. They are middle aged and can use the time to sleep or talk or do whatever it is that you do during a clip show. To start off, I love Kurt Wagner. Nightcrawler is easily one of my favorite Marvel Comic characters. His design is fantastic. The color scheme of his OG costume, the tail, his overall look. Chief's kiss. And his characterization is wonderful. A German Errol Flynn, with charm, wit and pathos. Being a fan of the Chris Claremont run of the X-Men, and beginning my collection just before the Fall of the Mutants, I was there for the creation of Excalibur, and seeing Kurt as a leader, and the soul of a team. Reading back through his development was a treat. I alway loved any spotlight he received. I hunted down his original mini-series, and I looked for other appearances with him. I always appreciated the deep friendship they had, even though they were opposites. I like to read their history as Kurt being a center for Logan. Of course, reading back into the history of the X-Men, you get the Mutant Massacre and one of the first times your see some serious consequences placed on the team. Kurt and Kitty's injuries pull them out of the X-Men and into Excalibur. This is a center piece story for all hardcore X-Men fans. I guess I can wax Nightcrawlers car all day long. He is a great character, a great design, a great history, and just overall great. I like that he is usually not overused either. Some of his stories have been really bad, but I blame the writer, not the character for those errors. Oh, Wolverine died and Kurt is sad. OK, let's see what new madness next issue brings us.   Check out our clip show at our website:  https://jeffandrickpresent.wordpress.com/2026/05/11/nightcrawler-v4-7-death-of-wolverine/   We also have some merchandise over at Redbubble. Episode 287 of Tom Clark's 6M Podcast is a review of X-Men: Apocalypse. Tom Clark and Phil Lindsey break down the 2016 installment that brings the First Class era to its most ambitious scale yet, as Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, face off against the ancient mutant Apocalypse. The guys dive into the film's 1980s setting, the introduction of a younger generation of X-Men including Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler, and Magneto's emotional turning point that reshapes his path once again. Does Apocalypse deliver on its massive scope and franchise stakes, or does it collapse under the weight of its own ambition? Dive into that and a lot more! Thanks to technical difficulties, Tom's audio is a bit imperfect this week. But we'll be back on track next week. The Derek Hunter Podcast

In this episode of the Derek Hunter Podcast, guest host Dean Karayanis, New York Sun columnist and former Rush Limbaugh staffer, delivers a sharp-witted and historical analysis of the escalating conflict with Iran. Following the death of the previous Ayatollah, Dean mocks the appointment of his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, by the "Council of Experts" — a puppet organization designed to maintain a hereditary dictatorship under the guise of an Islamic “Republic.” He targets Western media, like the New York Times, for "romanticizing" the new leader as a "man of mystery" rather than a standard fanatic. The IRIS Dena vs. The Belgrano Strategy: A significant portion of the show is dedicated to Dean's recent column for the New York Sun, where he compares the recent sinking of the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena to the 1982 sinking of the ARA General Belgrano during the Falklands War. Just as the Argentine junta claimed the Belgrano was "sailing away" and outside an Exclusion Zone, Iran and its supporters are framing the destruction of the Dena as a war crime because it was in international waters. The Reality: Karayanis cites historical evidence—including a 1982 BBC interview with Margaret Thatcher and later admissions by the Belgrano's captain—to argue that "international waters" do not grant immunity to enemy combatants executing tactical maneuvers. In truth, the Dena was warned twice by the U.S. and offered safe harbor by India, but the captain chose to proceed, making the ship a legal military target. The Culture of Mockery and Free Speech: A broader critique of "useful idiots" in the West and the decline of creative freedom. Dean creative diversity, critiquing the "X-Men Reboot" social media account, arguing that modern writers have turned characters into political avatars for themsevles. He uses Nightcrawler and Magneto as examples of how true diversity includes diversity of belief and internal conflict. British "Tools of Hate": Dean mocks the U.K. labor government's labeling of the Union Jack and St. George's Cross as “symbols of hate,” exposed in a leaked report, a stance that outraged liberal (but not leftist) John Cleese. “The Germans” episode of Cleese's landmark series, “Fawlty Towers, illustrates that comedy is being stifled by people who refuse to analyze the "butt of the joke," which is often the person being unreasonable, not the victims of history. Dean concludes with a message of resilience, urging listeners to support the "flying machines" and the brave individuals fighting to dismantle the Iranian regime, while maintaining a sense of humor in the face of global tension.

Kevin Schaefer, Andy Walsh, and Christian Ashley dive deep into the mutant mayhem of the first three X-Men films in this episode of Systematic Geekology. Their mission? To prep for the upcoming X-Men appearance in Avengers: Doomsday later this year. They kick things off by reminiscing about their first impressions of the original X-Men movie, dissecting its impact on the superhero genre, and sharing their thoughts on how the characters were portrayed. As they move through X2 and The Last Stand, the trio doesn't shy away from addressing the glaring missteps and missed opportunities in the franchise, especially regarding character development and story arcs. Tune in for a thoughtful and witty discussion filled with nostalgia, critiques, and a sprinkle of mutant magic! A deep dive into the nostalgia-inducing world of the first three X-Men movies, this episode of Systematic Geekology sees Kevin Schaefer, Andy Walsh, and Christian Ashley embarking on a journey to recall the pivotal moments that defined a generation of superhero cinema. They kick things off with the original X-Men film from 2000, exploring its groundbreaking approach to comic book adaptations at a time when the genre was still finding its footing in Hollywood. The trio discusses the film's significant themes, like the struggle for acceptance and the moral ambiguity of power, while also taking a critical look at its deviations from the source material. They reminisce about their first viewing experiences and how the movie introduced them to beloved characters like Wolverine, Professor X, and Magneto, all portrayed by a stellar cast that has stood the test of time. As they dissect the film, they touch on the cultural impact it had, setting the stage for a comic book movie renaissance that would follow. A blend of personal anecdotes and insightful commentary makes this segment a must-listen for fans eager to revisit the origins of the X-Men franchise. Transitioning to X2: X-Men United, the discussion shifts to the sequel that many fans consider a hallmark of superhero filmmaking. Kevin, Andy, and Christian delve into how X2 expanded upon its predecessor's foundation, introducing new characters like Nightcrawler and giving existing ones more depth and arcs that felt more balanced. The opening sequence involving Nightcrawler's infiltration of the White House is highlighted as a standout moment, showcasing not only exhilarating action but also the film's thematic depth regarding prejudice and acceptance. The hosts share their thoughts on how the film navigated complex relationships and conflicts among the characters, particularly the uneasy alliance between Xavier and Magneto in the face of a greater threat. The group also reflects on the film's legacy and its role in shaping the narrative landscape of the superhero genre, establishing a standard that many future films would strive to achieve. This segment is filled with fond memories and critical insights, making it a perfect nostalgia trip for longtime fans and newcomers alike. Finally, the episode wraps up with a candid analysis of X-Men: The Last Stand, a film that has garnered mixed reactions over the years. The hosts tackle the ambitious yet flawed attempt to merge the Cure storyline with the iconic Dark Phoenix saga, lamenting the missed opportunities to fully explore each narrative. They discuss how the film's chaotic production led to a disjointed experience, with key characters like Cyclops receiving little to no development. The conversation touches on the film's failings in comparison to its predecessors, particularly in terms of character depth and thematic resonance. Yet amidst the critiques, there are glimmers of appreciation, such as Kelsey Grammer's portrayal of Beast and the potential that the storyline held, had it been executed with more care. As they navigate through the highs and lows of the film, the trio reflects on the lessons learned from the trilogy as a whole, setting the stage for future discussions on the X-Men's cinematic journey. This final segment serves as a reminder of the complexity of adapting beloved source material and the challenges that come with evolving a franchise over time.Takeaways:The podcast dives deep into the first three X-Men movies, examining their cultural impact as they gear up for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.Kevin, Andy, and Christian share nostalgic memories of the original X-Men film, highlighting how it shifted the superhero genre landscape back in 2000.They discuss the character dynamics, particularly the complexity of Rogue and her journey, which resonates with themes of identity and acceptance.Listeners learn how the trilogy's writing struggles led to missed opportunities, particularly in portraying the characters' depth and moral complexities..Be sure to check out our merch, find extra content, and become an official member of Systematic Geekology on our website:https://systematic-geekology-shop.fourthwall.com/.Check out our other Marvel episodes:https://player.captivate.fm/collection/fb519d38-2d9b-4f82-b041-81b81613543c.Check out other episodes with Andy:https://player.captivate.fm/collection/c86f7a67-357b-4324-bf95-e42cedb9932a.Listen to every episode with Christian:https://player.captivate.fm/collection/ebf4b064-0672-47dd-b5a3-0fff5f11b54c.Don't miss any of our other episodes with Kevin:https://player.captivate.fm/collection/84fd7d06-cf1f-48e5-b358-09a01c5a6bc9Mentioned in this episode:Get Your SG Merch now!Check out the link to see all of our different t-shirts, backpacks, drinking glasses, pajamas, and more! Welcome true believers to X-Men Horoscopes where each week our host Lodro Rinzler is in conversation with a special guest to discuss the X-Men issue that aligns with a significant month and year from their life and what that issue reveals about their future. This week on the show we have cosplay couple Aly Moon and Nick Woody to discuss their anniversary issue, a Gail Simone jam (Uncanny X-Men 18) where the well-intentioned mutant "Friendship Festival" goes sideways...and what that means for the future of their relationship. We play the X-Newlywed Game (how could we not?) and also on this episode: Wolverine throws up on Ferris wheels Horse Girl has a bad night Nightcrawler has a nice day The most on fire hospital Jubilee needs a better publicist What does any of this mean for their future as a soon-to-be married couple? Tune in to find out! Aly Moon (@Alymoonnn) is a Tennessee-based cosplayer, nail artist, lifelong Marvel nerd, and proud X-Men enthusiast. When she's not bringing superheroes to life through cosplay or creating nerdy nail art, she's probably found in her garden (because every good mutant needs a soft, earthy side too). Nicholas Woody, also known as TheComicCosplayer, is an extremely passionate cosplayer who loves bringing characters to life. Nightcrawler, Sentry, Ash Williams, and Mister Miracle are just a few examples of his portrayals. From horror movies like Evil Dead and The Shining, to comics such as Moon Knight, the new Marvel Ultimate Comics, and DC Black Label/Vertigo, and even gaming titles like Marvel Rivals and Dead by Daylight, to fandom-related content creation, Nicholas has fully embraced the geek lifestyle. When he's not traveling, creating, gaming, or thrifting, Nicholas enjoys the convention scene! Once a theater kid, always a theater kid—Nick's love for cosplay evolved from his love for acting and theater. Cosplay allows you to be whoever you want to be rather than hoping to play the role you want, which really drew him to the hobby. Formerly based in Texas, and now residing in central Tennessee, Nicholas looks forward to a bright future with his fiancé Aly as they share their passions together in geekdom.
