God’s Word has shown us our hope in Jesus Christ. You will have hope when you: Hear and obey God’s Word Hear and believe God’s Word Wait and pray for what you have heard in God’s Word
First impressions can be deceiving. Thankfully, when people get through the hard parts, they are excited about the results of the STS training. STS has grown from just a few instructors in Ethiopia to many with a focus on raising people. In places that boast traditional beliefs like witchcraft, STS oral Bible schools also flourish. People want Truth! Ministers talk of the timeliness of the training and denominations ask what's happening because of the impact of God's Word. Today’s show: The Rewards of being Patient From Arguing to Bible stories and Coffee Congregations Growing in God's Word How does a pastor go from preaching to the congregation to discussion style which gives the listeners an in-depth ownership of the Word? Hear how this pastor's people respond to this style of teaching for the first time. Links ... Simply the Story … Instructor's Newsletters … Upcoming workshops ... Read His Word, Hear His Voice // Jonathan Owens by Heart Of The City Church
James 1:19-27 (ESV) Hearing and Doing the Word 19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. 26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
"By faith" is our response to the promises of God; it’s how we live as we wait for God to show His faithfulness. While we wait... 1. ...we WORSHIP (SEE) 2. ...we remain in the WORD (HEAR) 3. ...we WALK in step with the Spirit (OBEY)
