In today's Fast Break we're excited to bring you (a snippet) of our panel discussion at the recent Athletech Innovators Summit held in NYC, July 2025. Integrity Square Founder and HALO Talks host Pete Moore moderated a panel with Mark Federico (CEO of Fitness Holdings/Crunch Fitness) and Terry Blachek (Orange Theory Fitness) for a deep dive into the real-world challenges—and strategies—of scaling fitness franchises. Mark Federico's Growth Playbook Mark walked us through his journey, from running a nine-club independent brand to leading a 50+ club Crunch Fitness operation across 10 states. He shed light on the big question: Build new locations (greenfields) or buy existing ones (acquisitions)? He shared the calculus behind each approach, breaking down real cost factors and explaining why “development space” is critical for franchisees. Franchise Valuation—Not All Clubs Are Created Equal Many single-gym owners want “big company” multiples, but Mark explained why scale, growth runway, and strategic value make a huge difference in valuation. Pro tip: Buying a single club isn't the same as absorbing a whole region. If you want premium pricing, bring growth potential to the table. Financing Franchise Expansion Terry opened up about the risks and strategies he used to finance Orange Theory locations, including SBA loans, finding investor partners, and personally guaranteeing leases. They discussed what it really takes to stand behind a business—sometimes with tens of millions in personal guarantees—long before private equity gets involved. The Realities (and Rewards) of Entrepreneurship Both guests emphasized the massive personal and financial risks entrepreneurs take to build these fitness empires. Pete made an important point: These risks deserve respect and reward, not scorn. Bonus Insight: The "Microwave vs. Crockpot" Growth Model Terry shared Orange Theory's approach to expansion, balancing rapid growth with careful, sustainable development. If you're a franchisor or area developer, this is a must-hear perspective. Want to learn more? (You should. Otherwise you're playing checkers while the rest of the industry plays chess.) Our guests today are Pierre and Morgen Rochard, co-hosts of the “Bitcoin for Advisors” podcast and leading advocates for integrating Bitcoin into long-term financial planning. In this episode, Pierre shares how Austrian economics and open-source philosophy led him to Bitcoin in 2012, and how his new venture, “The Bitcoin Bond Company”, aims to unlock institutional credit markets using sound money. Morgen reflects on her background in traditional finance and explains how she helps individuals match long-term goals with long-term assets like Bitcoin. We discuss the cultural clash between fiat excess and Bitcoin values, the growing trend of corporate treasury adoption, and the risks of financialization without education. Pierre and Morgen break down the freedoms enabled by Bitcoin, and caution against over-leveraging and chasing returns. Above all, this is a conversation about financial sovereignty, purposeful planning, and bridging old systems with a better monetary future.► This episode is part of the "Bitcoin Vegas 2025 Special" in collaboration with Ben Samocha, Founder of Israel's CryptoJungle and Crypto Talks podcast.► If you got value, please like, comment, share, follow and support my work. message me: what did you take away from this episode? Ep 99 (http://ibit.ly/Re5V) Karen Yates on how dual qualified and rural midwifery demands different skills but offers unique rewards.@PhDMidwives #research #midwifery #education #dualqualified #rural #retirementtravelresearch link - ibit.ly/H5wrqWhat does it take to stay true to your passion while adapting to life's changing demands? In this enlightening conversation, recently retired midwifery academic Karen Yates shares her remarkable journey from accidental midwife to respected researcher and mentor.Karen's story begins unexpectedly in Darwin, where a brief student placement ignited a lifelong devotion to midwifery. After moving to Cairns, she navigated the challenges of the private healthcare system while raising young children, taking on night shifts that offered both family flexibility and greater clinical autonomy. Her gradual transition to education and research wasn't planned—it evolved organically from her interest in supporting midwives across Queensland's vast rural and remote communities. The heart of our discussion explores Karen's PhD journey, which examined rural midwives working across dual roles. Her findings revealed professionals who identified passionately as midwives but accepted nursing duties as the necessary compromise for maintaining their cherished rural lifestyles. What began as a workplace investigation became a profound exploration of professional identity and work-life priorities. Most remarkably, Karen completed this rigorous research while unexpectedly serving in a demanding leadership position, demonstrating extraordinary determination and focus. We also delve into how Queensland's rural midwifery landscape has transformed in recent years, with midwifery group practice models now established in areas where practitioners once couldn't imagine midwifery-only roles. Karen shares eye-opening stories about the stark differences between urban and rural practice, highlighting how simulation courses that deliberately mixed practitioners from different settings created powerful learning opportunities. Now enjoying retirement, Karen continues mentoring PhD students while embracing travel, family time, and theatrical adventures. Her practical wisdom about maintaining balance, pursuing passionate research, and valuing lived experience provides inspiration for midwives at all career stages. Whether you're considering postgraduate study, navigating multiple professional roles, or seeking greater work-life harmony, this conversation offers valuable insights from someone who's navigated the journey with humour, pragmatism and unwavering commitment to midwifery. Text: Proverbs 27:18 (ESV) 18 Whoever tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who guards his master will be honored. DILIGENCE HAS REWARDS Diligence and hard work usually pay off. Generally, a person who puts in the necessary work will reap the expected rewards of those efforts and sacrifices. Farmers can't reap crops unless they plant and tend to them, can they? Athletes win because they've invested time and effort by rigid training. An employee is more likely to be honored and promoted by an employer when they perform well. Any righteous effort to work hard, for the right things, will ultimately be rewarded by God (Eph 6:5–8). Fig trees were important source of food in the Middle East. One day, Jesus and His disciples passed by a fig tree. Jesus expected that a fig tree would be fruitful. Upon seeing that it was barren, he cursed it (Mat 21:18–19). This story has an allusion in Amos 4:9. The Lord said He was chastising Israel to lead them to repent. The Lord recalls, "I struck you with blight and mildew…your fig trees and your olive trees the locusts devoured; yet you did not return to me." There was an old man at his deathbed saying to his two sons that he had left for them an inheritance. He buried it in the vineyard. When the man died, the two brothers began digging the vineyard diligently. They did it day in and day out, but no treasure can be found. However, they noticed that the vines bear clusters of fruit. Then and only then, they realized the wisdom of their father. The treasure is the fruitful vine because of their hard work.Listen and FOLLOW us on our podcast -------------------------Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

Intro:This morning, we're diving into Proverbs to explore God's heart for the poor. This builds on last week's sermon on justice. We'll hear from community members dedicated to this work. Who are the poor? It's complex, encompassing food insecurity, homelessness, and material lack, as Michael Simmon from the Rescue Mission shared. While our nation has safety nets, biblical understanding goes deeper.Scripture References: Proverbs 5:1-14, Proverbs 29:7, Proverbs 31:20, Proverbs 22:9, Proverbs 28:27, Proverbs 17:5, Proverbs 19:17, Matthew 25, Luke 4, 1 John 3:17-18, Galatians 2:9-10, Acts 3:1-9Key Points:Poverty's Complex Causes: Proverbs acknowledges poverty results from both bad choices and injustice. Avoid instant judgment; it's a mix of personal decisions, family, and systemic issues. The Righteous Care for the Poor:"The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern" (Proverbs 29:7).The Proverbs 31 wife, epitomizing wisdom, "opens her arms to the poor" (Proverbs 31:20). Caring for the poor should be central to followers of Jesus.Rewards for Caring for the Poor:"The generous will themselves be blessed" (Proverbs 22:9)."Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses" (Proverbs 28:27). There's eternal reward and divine warning.God Identifies with the Poor:"Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker" (Proverbs 17:5)."Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord" (Proverbs 19:17).Matthew 25 highlights: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these... you did for me." God takes our actions personally.A Holistic Gospel:Our gospel must be good news to the poor. Jesus' mission began with proclaiming good news to the poor (Luke 4:18).Avoid two errors:Serving the poor while neglecting Jesus/discipleship: Without Jesus, healing from deep pain is incomplete (Heidi Heredia).Preaching the gospel but neglecting the poor: "How can the love of God be in that person?" (1 John 3:17). Our gospel needs "feet"—actions. The early church was known for this care.Helping Without Hurting:Avoid increasing shame/savior complex: Don't disempower. Use asset-based community development (Steve Corbett) – resource their gifts to restore dignity (e.g., Creekside Community Church selling gifts).Avoid "parachuting": Partner with indigenous ministries. Building relationships and local ownership are key (Dave Schlich). Jesus is already at work; we join Him.Avoid giving relief to those who need development: Understand relief (immediate aid), rehabilitation (getting out of the pit), development (learning to walk again). Our goal is full restoration.Panhandling: Michael Simmon advises against cash. Offer connection, food/hygiene items. "Being seen" is vital. The goal: restore full humanness, glorifying God in right relationship with Him, self, others, and creation. Conclusion:Many are helping without hurting (Rescue Mission, Gleanings, Dream Center). We're called to embody this holistic gospel.Call to Action:Remember Acts 3:1-9: Peter and John gave the lame man healing in Jesus' name, not just money. We empower people to "walk, jump, and praise God." Ask God for your part and pray for those leading this work. Support the show*Summaries and transcripts are generated using AI. Today we read the words which David spoke to Saul when they faced each other in the wilderness. The king had been pursuing David; but David had been able to take Saul's spear and jar of water from beside him and his men “because a deep sleep from the LORD had fallen upon them.” [1 Sam 26 v.12]David called out to Saul from the other side of the hill, it appears there was a ravine between them. Saul admits, “I have acted foolishly and made a great mistake” [v.21] David responds, “Here is the spear O king! Let one of the young men come over and take it.” – then David adds, “The LORD rewards every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness …” [v.23]The wonder of the way the LORD rewards will not be seen in all its fullness until God's kingdom is established and the resurrection has taken place; but as we ponder God's word we see how both good and bad events, that is “all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” [Rom. 8 v.28] Paul learnt the wonder of this as he reflected on the course his life had taken – through the actions of God's Son.Surely some of the Psalms of David were inspired in his mind as he reflected on God's guiding care of his life, especially in difficult situations, as we have read today. Look at Psalm 3 v.3-6, then the prophetic Psalm 22 that relates to the mortal life of Jesus – but it must have been founded on some event(s) in David's life! As this Psalm proceeds, he is able to write (pray), “From you comes my praise in the great congregation; my vows I will perform before those who fear him (God)” [v.23] Then we read the oft quoted Psalm 23 v4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me”As this world becomes more than ever “a valley of the shadow of death” and full of godlessness in the eyes of God – may we be ever more conscious of how ”the LORD rewards”.

Six-year-old Lilly and four-year-old Jack Sullivan vanished from their rural Nova Scotia home on May 2nd, 2025. Their disappearance sparked an immediate and massive search effort, involving hundreds of volunteer searchers, K9 units, helicopters, drones, and specialized RCMP units, meticulously combing miles of the dense, challenging terrain near Lansdowne Station. Despite these efforts, there have been no confirmed sightings of the kids, and it seems like the best evidence they have is a child-sized boot print and potentially a piece of blanket belonging to one of the children. How do you build a DePIN network with 2.7M+ devices, zero CAC, and data streams optimized for AI—without draining batteries or compromising user trust? In this episode of The Index, Alex Kehaya sits down with Jesse Adams, serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Uprock, to unpack how they're building the world's first mobile-first DePIN for AI.Jesse's journey spans building an adult app store, launching an encrypted browser (Tenta, acquired), and now scaling Uprock—a decentralized physical infrastructure network designed to deliver real-time, geo-distributed data for AI/ML. Instead of relying on always-on proxies, Uprock's task-based architecture wakes mobile devices only when needed, performs lightweight actions (like scraping or uptime checks), and puts them back to sleep—keeping performance high and energy use low.We explore:Why location-specific data is critical for LLMs and autonomous agentsHow Uprock scaled to 2.7M devices with zero paid acquisitionTheir crypto micropayment model for rewarding bandwidth contributionAI-driven dev workflows for code review, QA, and marketing at speedIf you're building in DePIN, Web3 infra, or AI tooling—this convo is packed with ideas from the frontier.
