By any measure, consumers are drinking less alcohol. While their reasons for abstaining vary, the occasions in which they consume beer, wine and spirits have remained consistent. The circumstances have created an opportunity for alcohol alternative brands like TÖST to innovate and find relevance among mainstream consumers. Launched in 2018, TÖST markets sparkling non-alcoholic beverages made with white tea, white cranberry concentrate, ginger extract and other natural flavors. The products, which are available in two varieties, original and rosé, come in 750 mL individual bottles and 4-packs of 250 mL bottles . Distinguished by its sleek and minimalist label, the brand has won over consumers seeking a sophisticated alternative for occasions when they might typically drink alcohol. Distributed in 40 states, TÖST is carried by major retailers in a variety of channels, including Whole Foods, BevMo and CVS. Earlier this year, the venture capital arm of beverage alcohol conglomerate Constellation Brands acquired a minority stake in TÖST, praising its “delicious liquid that feels celebratory… and also versatile and approachable for everyday enjoyment.” In this episode, TÖST CEO Brooks Addington spoke about how the brand has carved out a positioning that has resonated with all types of consumers and how its thoughtful communication strategy has given it a leg up over competing products. Show notes: 0:43: Interview: Brooks Addington, CEO, TÖST – Addington spoke with Taste Radio editor Ray Latif at Natural Products Expo East 2023 where they chatted about the final edition of the event, his passion for architecture and how his background in financial services and worldly experience prepared him for his current role. He also spoke about the rise in abstinence among younger consumers, the origins of TÖST and how the liquid and package were designed to meet the expectations of a sophisticated drinking experience, and why it's critical for the brand to have an affordable price point. Later, Addington discussed TÖST's retail and merchandising strategies, why having few competitors is “a double-edged sword,” the company's strategic partnership with Constellation Brands and why it's important to be frugal with marketing dollars. Sunday, September 24, 2023 – Today’s message is “Three Godly Judgments.” I know judgment isn’t one of our favorite topics, but I assure you this is a message we all need to hear and pay attention to. These judgments are unavoidable and without negotiation. Every person who ever lived is going to face these judgments without exception. So, a wise person will sit up and pay attention. The first and most crucial judgment everyone will face is binary – will one spend eternity in Heaven or Hell? That’s the first judgment one faces immediately after they die. Instantly, one is taken either to Heaven or Hell, and that is based 100% on whether the person believed in and accepted Jesus Christ as the Savior and then made Him their Lord, meaning they lived a life sold out to Him according to His instructions as given in God’s Holy Word. This first judgment determines if the person will then stand before the BEMA Seat judgment or the White Throne Judgment. These are two separate and distinct judgments for people depending on whether they are true Christians or unbelieving non-Christians. There is too much to describe here, so if this interests you, please take the time to worship and study with us…

With the availability of credit card rewards at stake under the Durbin-Marshall credit card bill, bill sponsor Sen. Roger Marshall dismisses consumer concerns about their rewards. “Rewards are for rich people,” Marshall said derisively at a Capitol Hill press conference on Wednesday in response to media questions about consumers' preferences. Facing Marshall at the press conference just happened to be nearly 50 bankers from his home state of Kansas, in D.C. for their annual Washington Visit. On the latest episode of the ABA Banking Journal Podcast — presented by Servbank — three leaders from that delegation reflect on the press conference and what they heard. The podcast guests also discuss the urgency of banker advocacy on Durbin-Marshall, as its sponsors seek to attach it to other legislative vehicles, and they debunk false talking points to show that consumers and small businesses of all income levels use and benefit from credit card rewards. They also illuminate the stakes of the Durbin-Marshall debate for everyday credit card users. Take action to oppose credit card routing mandates.

Phillip and Brian look at loyalty programs including Delta's, which may turn Brian into a United or an Alaska guy, recap some compelling highlights from the All-In Summit that Phillip went to, and remind us why commerce really matters and can bring about powerful change as we work to shape it. “A Giant Pain Fest”{00:09:02} - “Loyalty is a form of arbitrage. Customers have always figured out how to game rewards programs, but loyalty programs in particular are a short-term play.” - Phillip{00:14:03} - “The world does revolve around this value extraction and trying to maximize the benefit that you get through spending through a charge card. So in reality, the loyalty-free agency era is going to be defined by those who do status matching across programs and invite those people who are running away from Delta in with open arms.” - Phillip{00:26:05} - “If you can touch commerce, you can touch the world. If you can make an effect in the people who make decisions in commerce every day, you can affect the outcome of the way that people engage in human interaction because we all have to engage in commerce.” - Phillip{00:36:42} - “The technology question is a big question. It could go in a lot of different directions. And I think that that's how a lot of this is going to change what people actually accept and take hold of and think about how to apply creatively. The implications of the Internet are still vast. Vast. We are still not applying current technology in ways that are truly transformative.” - Brian{00:43:10} - “With fusion power and quantum processing maybe we'll be able to do it all. Until that day, I think we're going to be butting up against the limits.” - Brian{00:45:32} - “Commerce has followed a lot of parallels that replace the role that spirituality and community have had in people's lives. And what if we realize that those things just don't fulfill and we need to find within us something that gives us hope? Buying more things, shopping like a billionaire on Temu does not give us hope. But finding community and people of like mindedness and trying to tap into something greater than yourself can give you hope that defies the inevitability of certain demise.” - PhillipAssociated Links:The Senses article mentioned (June 9 on Loyalty)The GDP/Delta article mentionedQuantum Yeet Insiders piece mentionedGrab your copy of The Multiplayer Brand hereHave you checked out our YouTube channel yet?Subscribe to Insiders and The Senses to read more about what we are witnessing in the commerce worldListen to our other episodes of Future CommerceHave any questions or comments about the show? There are a lot of advantages and freedoms for serving alone in ministry, like super-focus on tasks without interruption, managing time schedule and work, budget/finances for money spending, housing/moving for living situations, building friendships/engaging in social activities for enhancing outreach, and traveling/planning/ decision-making. However, there are some challenges for long-term singleness in ministry, whether serving across town or across the border, which can be emotionally unsettling and may create inner dissatisfaction, even frequent frustration. Not knowing how to handle unfulfilled desires, unmet needs, aloneness-loneliness, etc., can rather hinder the sense of contentment and decrease the effectiveness of the personal servant. We all have an innate need to nurture and be nurtured, to care for other as well as to be cared for by others. People with low (or poor) social skills have a tendency to struggle further and alone. In this session we will highlight the joys-rewards and the challenges-struggles of singles on missions. We will define terminologies, correct misconceptions, encourage realistic expectations of self-others-life-God, rediscover a biblical paradigm for contented aloneness/singleness, and present practical suggestions or guidelines for Singles in Ministry: How to build healthy relationships with the opposite gender and how begin looking for partner-companion-mate via courtship. How to translate our frustration(s) into strengths and build a Koinonia around us (communion hub) that is mutually nurturing and empowering. How to cultivate single-mindedness, joy along the journey, and higher aspirations for the Kingdom while Cultivating Eternity in our Hearts, so that we know what God is doing from beginning to end. Finally, the presenter will share from his personal journey of 40 years of cross-cultural service and global ministry, who is still single-never married person. https://bit.ly/gmhc2022_najiabihashem_singlemindedsingleness

Geoffrey Turner closes out the Coffee Cup Christianity series in week five by providing context around Joshua 1:9. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Often, we make decisions based on a risk-reward analysis, from financial decisions to career choices, etc. Rewards outlined in scripture for believers, including God's promises to be our strength, provide for our needs, and give us purpose and peace. While God's promises are awe-inspiring, they also come with risks. Leading to the book of Joshua, the Israelites' journey from slavery in Egypt to their current point, setting the stage for Joshua 1. God instructs Joshua to lead the Israelites into the promised land after the death of Moses. God promises Joshua that he will be with him and emphasizes the need to be strong and courageous, as there are challenges ahead. Despite being so close to the reward, God repeatedly tells Joshua to be strong and courageous because the promises of God do not automatically happen. There is a common misconception that God's promises will materialize without any effort or risk on the believer's part. Faith requires action and often involves taking risks. The Lord often calls us to obey before we truly understand. It is obedience that unlocks understanding. Joshua, as a new leader, had to confront the risk of not being trusted by the people, the fear of failure, and the challenges of crossing the Jordan River. However, the rewards of God's promises are always worth the risks! Sermon from September 4, 2023 To watch this sermon or other sermons, subscribe to our YouTube Channel: "Beltway Park Church"

Ed interviews recurring guest of the show Phra Pandit on meditation retreats. This is Part Two of a two part series; Part One is a basic introduction to meditation. The discussion begins with Phra Pandit giving some very solid advice for choosing a retreat: make sure you know the accommodations, including food and lodging, are at least adequate. Later he makes clear that luxury isn't the way to go, but sharing a tent while covered in mosquitoes may not be the best way to begin your journey to inner peace. Next, Ed brings up the one ten-day meditation retreat he did a long while ago, and Phra Pandit stresses the importance of knowing all the rules you must follow while in attendance. The monk believes that in general stricter is better (go big or go home!), with silence being an absolute must. While some of the rules might seem a bit cultish, Phra Pandit notes that temporary restrictions for a few days does not a cult make! Ed then turns to the expert to explain some of the weird (and sometimes frightening) mental experiences he had on his long retreat. Phra Pandit uses Ed's experience as a way to illustrate a few important concepts relating to Buddhist philosophy and theory of meditation. A psychedelic of your choice may help the episode go down a bit better. Just sayin'. Don't forget that Patrons get the ad-free version of the show as well as swag and other perks. And we'll keep our Facebook, Twitter, and LINE accounts active so you can send us comments, questions, or whatever you want to share.

Just six years ago, Corey Kent was a broke college graduate, renting out half of a room to save money, eating the same meal every day of the week. His dream was to make a living as a musician without selling out. Now, most country music fans know Corey's name and his platinum record speaks for itself. But what you don't know is that Corey fueled his music career thanks to a handful of properties he bought years ago. Corey's side project real estate portfolio allowed him to launch his music career, make passive income when times got tough, and fall on his feet when the world was shut down. Corey was looking to invest in property at just seventeen years old, but when a bank turned him away, he had to change his entire mindset and learn the personal finance game from a very early age. After his grandfather taught him the do's and don'ts of buying raw land, Corey slowly built his real estate portfolio. At this time, Corey was below the poverty line, sleeping in his truck and saving whatever money he could to invest. He continued to buy property, EVEN when times were tight, successfully using his passive income to help him leapfrog into later becoming a chart-topping musician who now can follow his one true passion. In This Episode We Cover: Investing in real estate when you have low (or no) credit Buying land and the rule of thumb that Corey ALWAYS follows before he invests Corey's “side project” passive real estate portfolio that helps pay for his lifestyle How one rental property saved Corey's family when the lockdowns began Why real estate DOESN'T need to be your passion to build passive income And So Much More!
