A podcast set up to highlight the abundance of talent in Ireland across a series of platforms including musicians, actors, directors, comedians and many more
If you follow my Twitter account you'll know exactly how highly I rate this four piece from Maynooth. Personally, Elkin are top of the list in bands to look out for. They have such a soulful sound and as far as a group dynamic goes there's nothing like them. Four wonderful people who have come together to make some really beautiful music. ELKIN are already making waves on the Irish music scene after just one year as a four-piece. Their collaboration with Tebi Rex, ‘She Hated Love Songs II’, received praise from Dan Hegarty and Eoghan McDermott amongst others. Following the release of their debut single ‘Paro’, ELKIN were named as one of State.ie's Faces of 2018 and performed at the Whelan’s Ones to Watch 2018 Festival in January. Their eagerly awaited debut EP, Bad Habits was released on the 12th of May. From the dark, punchy blues of “Honey” to crowd-favourite “I Got Love”, ELKIN present a soulful collection of original tracks, marking their place amongst the most exciting new Irish acts this year. ELKIN will be hosting an EP Launch Party gig in The Cobblestone, Smithfield, on May 25th The gig will also feature upcoming artists Aaron Cumiskey and Ruth Mac
After a slightly longer than planned hiatus, the podcast is back with an absolute banger of an interview with Tebi Rex. The duo consist of Matt O'Baoill and Max Zunga and they have just released their powerhouse of an EP "Welcome To The Year of Our Darkest Adventure" Throughout the interview you'll be treated to an insight into their surprising influences, how they felt before and after releasing the EP, the stories behind their tracks and an incredibly entertaining freestyle. A first for the podcast and hopefully not the last. Follow them on Twitter @TebiRex ( Also, the artist that the guys mention is over on twitter at @punchedmonet_ so make sure to check her stuff out because she is FANTASTIC.) Make sure to subscribe to the podcast and shaaaaaare it. Much love Dave @BoalsGoals xo
This week I sat down with one of Ireland's absolute hidden gems, Sean Rooney. Sean is a singer songwriter from Longford and within this weeks episode we spoke about his passion for music, his work within the community, his influences as an artist, where he gets the ideas behind his music, his battles with mental health among many other things. Make sure to check out this interview if only for the acoustic rendition of his beautiful original 'Edith' and his wonderful cover of Marvin Gaye's 'How Sweet It Is' This guy is definitely one to look out for this year so make sure to head over to his facebook page and give him a like at Sean Rooney Music. His EP will be launched later this year and I personally will be waiting eagerly to get my hands on a copy. All likes and shares are welcome, Many thanks, Dave
This weeks episode is nothing to do with music or arts. This weeks podcast is a compilation of interviews with those who have been sleeping on the streets of our capital on a regular basis. To hear straight from the mouth of those affected the worst by our nations homelessness. This sleepout was for FOCUS Ireland and thanks to everyone who donated I raised €400 on the night. These interviews were recorded by myself and later in the night Lauren took over while I slept out. Shortly after this sleepout the homelessness crisis was thrown into the limelight with Apollo House. There's a lot left to be done but every little helps. Listen to these stories and thank you all for your support throughout this campaign.
Welcome back! It is good to be back and releasing episodes. There was a lengthy delay between this episode and the last one. Life sometimes gets in the way but now that I'm settled with the new job and my fundraising campaign for FOCUS Ireland is over I'm back on track. What an episode this is to come back on. I met with Deborah from, alt-pop mad synth induced beauty, Hvmmingybrd and we spoke about their rapid success into the Irish music scene and rightly so. They have been hailed by Nialler9, their music is played in every HMV store across the globe and have been creating an unbelievable buzz based around their live performances. Make sure to catch them on Spotify and Facebook. Buy their stuff. Support our artists. Don't forget to like and share and if you're listening on iTunes rate it and subscribe. You guys are the best. Thanks for all the support

Welcome to Episode 10! Ten episodes! Double digits! That has to be a landmark of some sort right? Thankfully over the past few weeks I've met some incredibly talented artists and this week is no different. I met up with 2/5's of Longfords very own Brave Giant. Brave Giant are a five piece indie/folk band based between Longford and Dublin. Consisting of Podge Gill, Mark Prunty, Ross McNerney, Emmett Collum and David Kilbride the band have been able to establish themselves with a strong foundation in the Irish music scene with their debut release 'The Lordy Lordy EP' reaching number two in the iTunes charts. They've been selling out gigs left right and centre and more recently played at Electric Picnic to a huge gathering cementing themselves as one of Ireland's brightest talents. I was so fortunate to be able to sit down and talk with the two lads in Dillons, the bar in which they had their very first gig, to talk about their journey as a band so far as well as what the future has to hold. This is an interview that I cant recommend highly enough. So as always, likes, shares and retweets are always welcome. If you're listening on iTunes dont forget to subscribe! Dave
Welcome one and all to Episode 9 of DaveBox! Im so honoured to be receiving the feedback and love for each of these episodes so far from you and this week I have for you a special treat. I sat down with Davey Reilly who is fresh off his sold out show in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to sit and talk with us about all the things imaginable. We talk about his comedy stylings and how he generates his ideas to the image of masculinity in Ireland and how toxic a mindset that can be to young men growing up. We also discuss the hugely popular and wildly successful 'Facts' page of which he is a contributor as well as the deeply personal stories behind his show "Dysmorphin' Time" which will be performed throughout the Dublin Fringe Festival. As always, your likes and shares are welcome. You can check out Davey's social media stuff at: www.facebook.com/DaveyReilly www.twitter.com/DaveyReilly Snapchat @ DaveyReilly And of course, my own Social media www.facebook.com/dave.box.podcast www.twitter.com/BoalsGoals
Welcome to Episode 8 of DaveBox This week I sat down with Mongoose, a four piece band from Dublin and they are *insert expletive here* brilliant. They played an amazing set over at Electric Picnic and will soon be launching a pop up music event in Dublin soon so be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for that. This was such a lovely chilled chat with a group of very talented artists and as always, we cover a broad range of topics. We speak about their musical influences, the sensational video for their new single 'Doing Things Wrong' in support of Repeal the 8th, we cover their origin story(everyone needs one of those nowadays) and we are also treated to not one, but two, captivating live performances. As always, likes shares retweets and feedback is appreciated and welcome. I hope you enjoy this episode because it is a fantastic laugh with a very talented group.
Welcome to Episode 7 of DaveBox! This week I caught up with Darragh O'Toole who is well known for his role in TV3's hit series Red Rock. He plays the rebellious son of Sergeant Angela Tyrell, Conor who becomes a heroin addict. Within this podcast we talk about many topics ranging from Darragh's research into the life of an addict and how Ireland as a nation deals with their addicts and the common perceptions of those who are stuck in a cycle of drugs. We also talk about the power of Social Media on society both as a positive influence and negative. We talk about his passion for acting and the type of future roles he would like to try out. This was such a hugely entertaining conversation and I really hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. As always, all your shares and likes are appreciated. You can find me on www.facebook.com/Dave.Box.Podcast where I'd love to hear your feedback or comments. Dont forget to subscribe to the channel both on Soundcloud and on iTunes so you never miss an episode. Also, at the end of this podcast I reveal two of the upcoming bands to come on the show(which I'm so so excited about) So make sure to listen to the very end! Dave
Hello everyone! Welcome to Episode 6 of DaveBox! After a short break I'm delighted to say that I am back in action. This week I'm highlighting the incredible talent within Search Party Animal, a 5 piece band from Dublin. I was supposed to interview these guys back in June but unfortunately for all of us there was that pesky little thing called the Leaving Cert that got in the way. However I managed to catch up with these guys shortly before they blew everyone away with their killer set over at Knockanstockan. For anyone who hasn't seen these guys perform live its something you need to add to your bucket list they're an absolute tour-de-force and will blow you away. Listen in to hear us catch up about expectations of the future for themselves, reliving moments from their tour in Canada as well as how they managed to balance writing music and gigging throughout their school life and of course two tracks in Heads High Feet Firm and To an End. These guys have been performing with each other since they were 12 years old and have evolved so quickly and maturely. Definitely ones to watch out for. As always, likes shares and retweets are encouraged and welcome. You're all so sound. Dave
Welcome To Episode 5 of DaveBox. This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Emma Langford Music and talking about all sorts! We were recording upstairs in Dolans (huge thank you to them for the space) so youre going to hear some background noise but its all good. Adds to the atmosphere. In fact when Emma began to sing we had a few wee listeners so it was all round entertainment for everyone! She's been hailed as one of most prominent up and coming artists from Limerick and rightly so. This girl has huge talent and for anyone around her EP Launch will be in Dolans Pub on the 18th June. Emma is seriously going places and I feel so privileged to have been given the chance to interview her before she reaches those dizzying heights so make sure to check out this launch to say you knew her before she was selling out gigs in the 3 Arena! Don't forget to check out the page at www.facebook.com/dave.box.podcast and give it a like! Thanks again, Dave
Welcome to Episode 4 of DaveBox! This week is an interesting one. I will be talking with Declan Drohan who is the front man and lead singer of Dark Town. This fantastic band from the West of Ireland have been working meticulously on crafting a new album, they’ve been playing gigs all over the country including Vantastival. Declan is also a lecturer of performing arts I once had the privilege of being taught by this man. I have always had great time for Declan and was delighted to sit down with him and chat about his band, parenthood, his career in the arts life death and everything in between. We are also being given not one, but TWO, exclusive tracks from their upcoming album She Knows and The New House. As always, likes comments and shares are appreciated and so very welcome. Thank you for listening, Dave
Welcome to Episode Three of DaveBox! This week we are talking to singer/songwriter Fiach Moriarty on his career so far, his influences in music, the arts in Ireland and everything else in between. We are also incredibly lucky to have him perform two tracks for us this week. A beautiful rendition of " I'll See You In My Dreams" as well as an original which hasn't been played before. How lucky are we? So make sure to listen, like share and leave a rating on the iTunes store. You're all so sound. DaveBox
Welcome to Episode Two of Davebox! This week I sat down with multi award winning comedian and actor Eric Lalor. Its impossible to sum up in words how much fun I had talking to him and how easily the conversation flowed. Eric is truly a genuine character. We spoke about his time in Ballymun, his influences in comedy, his work for Joe.ie, what it's like to be a big bad b*stard in Ireland's longest soap Fair City and what he has planned for the future. I could type a great deal for my admiration for this man but I think its better I let you guys listen for yourselves. Without further adieu, Eric Lalor! Don't forget to like and share the post. Every little helps!
Welcome to you all. This is the very first episode of a new podcast entitled 'DaveBox' This podcast was set up after months of preparation and realising that there is a need for something like this in Ireland. We are a nation thats built upon artists. That's what I'm looking to showcase here. There is an abundance of talent in Ireland and we'll be talking to a wide array of people ranging from Actors, directors, musicians, comedians and many more. My first guest this week is Clare Monnelly, also known as Fidelma Moone from Sky TV's "Moone Boy" Clare was an absolute delight to speak with and I couldn't have asked for a better guest to come on to kick things off! So I'll leave it here before I start talking about what you're about to be listening to. Likes, Shares and Retweets as always will be greatly appreciated. Dave
