After his memories of the future are erased and the experiment is deemed a failure, the scientists receive funding for a new project—a space rocket base in Red Rock, Arizona, unknowingly setting in motion the very catastrophe Andrews witnessed. In this episode of the Workforce Connections Podcast, we meet Anisa Stechert, a Licensed Master Social Worker and psychedelic integration therapist at Nushama in New York City. Born in Las Vegas, Anisa moved to Florida at age 11 but has always considered Nevada home, with fond memories of Red Rock, Mount Charleston, and the YMCA swim team. She earned her B.A. in English in West Palm Beach and began her career as a Title I secondary English teacher, working with students facing trauma and systemic barriers. That experience shaped her passion for people's stories and led her to nonprofit leadership roles supporting adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, followed by research and policy work with the New York City Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice. Anisa went on to earn her MSW at Columbia University, focusing on advanced generalist practice and program development.Today, Anisa brings her lived experience, research background, and clinical training to her role at Nushama, where she helps patients undergoing ketamine-assisted therapy. She emphasizes that while ketamine provides a neurological “reset,” the true transformation comes through integration, the reflective process of meaning-making after treatment. She recently launched Mythnetics, a Nevada-based consulting practice that maps modern diagnoses to archetypal journeys, reframing them as invitations to healing. Nushama has engaged Mythnetics as it expands into Miami, where Anisa will play a leading role, with future plans to return her work to Nevada. During her recent visit, she connected with state leaders at the Governor's Office of Economic Development, the Vegas Chamber, LVGEA, and UNLV Economic Development to explore how her innovative approach could serve the community.Outside of work, Anisa finds grounding in yoga, reading, writing, creating botanical teas and essential oil blends, and long walks with her golden retriever, Annie Marie. Her advice to young people is simple but profound: pursue training, but more importantly, do your own inner work. Face your shadows, cultivate humility, and build authenticity, because guiding others through change requires first walking through it yourself.Nushama:https://nushama.com/

Episode Intro: Dear listeners of the Female Guides Requested Podcast, Happy Wednesday, and Happy Lunar New Year of the Snake! This is your host Ting Ting from Las Vegas. Today, we have Izzy Lazarus as our guest. I've known Izzy for a while, but it wasn't until last fall that I finally got to meet her in person when she came to Red Rock for her AMGA Rock Guide Exam. I knew I had to have her on the show. Izzy grew up in NYC, playing hockey, skateboarding, and finding a connection with the ocean. Her mountain pursuits began with a pre-orientation backpacking trip in the thick Vermont woods, and she's been hooked ever since. Courses in rock and ice climbing and outdoor leadership led her to work at the Colorado Outward Bound School after college. Izzy spent several years working multi-week climbing, mountaineering, backpacking, and backcountry skiing courses, both domestically and abroad. In 2017, she moved to the Tetons to work as an alpine and backcountry ski guide. Between Teton seasons, she traveled and worked in the Southwest desert region and various peaks in the Northwest and Cascades. Several years later, life took her back to Vermont to work for the UVM Outdoor Programs Dept and guide on the side. Izzy has a passion for adventure that is only surpassed by her love of education, teaching, building connections with people from around the world, and cooking! Izzy is a Certified Rock Guide, Assistant Splitboard Guide, and Apprentice Alpine Guide. We talked about Izzy's different transitions in life, from a big city to the great outdoors, from seasonal guiding to a full-time job. We discussed what ignited these transitions, how she managed the changes, and what she learned from her experiences. Izzy always seems to have a positive outlook on life and genuinely cares about the people around her, wanting to learn from them. Izzy's energy and positive attitude towards life are truly radiant. I had so much fun chatting with her, and I bet you'll enjoy our conversation too. Izzy's Links: Izzy's profile on AMGA website Setting the Track Things We Talked about: From a big city to the mountains The power of metaphors What guiding is about for Izzy Izzy's first mountain experience From 13 years of hockey to finding identity in the outdoors The UVM outdoor programs West versus East for example Tetons versus Vermont Outward Bound years Nudged and mentored by other amazing female guides in the Teton Valley Female representation in the guiding / climbing community Seasonal guiding versus a full time job Sustainability Information gathering Izzy loves planning but also loves spontaneity Burn outs? In 1983, after years of climbing on Yosemite's granite cracks with John Long and the Stonemasters, Lynn Hill went on a roadtrip. First to Arizona, then to Colorado and finally Red Rock, outside of Las Vegas. While on the road, she and Long established some of the most classic routes in the country. After a brief foray into Hollywood stunts, Lynn traveled to the Gunks to climb for a magazine article and photoshoot. What happened next is history. Bioneers: Revolution From the Heart of Nature | Bioneers Radio Series
Erosion and evolution. Shadow and light. Death and rebirth. These are some of the strands that the acclaimed author, naturalist and activist Terry Tempest Williams weaves together in the face of today's broken world. Standing in the lineage of the greatest nature writers, she links her deepest inner experiences with the state of the web of life. In this program, Williams asks: How do we find the strength to not look away at all that is breaking our hearts? Hands on the earth, we remember where the source of our authentic power comes from. We have to go deeper. She also explores histories of privilege, religion, and identity in Utah, and how reconciling her experiences with these cultural strands have helped unleash and shape her voice as a storyteller who translates the voice of nature and speaks for justice. Featuring Terry Tempest Williams, one of the greatest living authors from the American West, is also a longtime award-winning conservationist and activist, who has taken on, among other issues, nuclear testing, the Iraq War, the neglect of women's health, and the destruction of nature, especially in her beloved “Red Rock” region of her native Utah and in Alaska.
