Little Brother is a rap group from North Carolina. The three original members – Phonte, Big Pooh and 9th Wonder – were living in their college dorms when they decided to make music together. They hit open mics and played local shows, but they never expected a rags-to-riches story. After uploading a few songs to a hip-hop message board called Okayplayer, they released their debut LP, The Listening. By indie-label standards, it was a hit. They signed to a major label, but their second album didn't perform as well as they would've liked. After being dropped by their label, 9th Wonder left the group and Little Brother disbanded shortly after. In 2019, Phonte and Big Pooh reunited as Little Brother and dropped their album May the Lord Watch. Now, they're on tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album. They also have a documentary in the works. This week on Bullseye, Phonte and Big Pooh join us to reflect on their long and eventful career as Little Brother.
Party Down is a show with a simple premise. It's about a group of actors, writers and creative types who work at a catering company called Party Down. The first two seasons of the show ran more than 10 years ago, but the show is back for a third season. On the latest episode of Bullseye, we're joined by of the co-creators of Party Down, Rob Thomas and John Enbom. They join us to talk about the latest season of the show, and what it was like to revisit the characters after all these years. Plus, they get into why they believed so deeply in the show even when several network executives told them it would never work.

Jonathan Majors has been acting professionally for about seven years now. He's done theater, TV, and starred in movies. In that short amount of time, he's become one of the most captivating performers in Hollywood. On screen, Jonathan is charismatic and charming when the role calls for it, and he can turn to vulnerable and broken almost instantly. He's the kind of actor that just takes the story to the next level. When I talked with Jonathan Majors in 2021, he was up for an Emmy for his work on HBO's Lovecraft Country. He's gone on to some massive films like Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and most recently, Creed III. Jonathan joined us on Bullseye to talk about Lovecraft Country, and reflected on being the child in a family of veterans. Plus, he dived into acting theory and craft – and he gets into it, really into it.

And if you want to attend Sunday's webinar (February 26), it's not too late. Email Celeste, and she'll add you to the list if possible: Celeste@astrologybycelete.com! Also, for only $12, grab your Saturn in Pisces video series! 02:01 – News this week: Pisces Season began with Biden's surprise visit to Ukraine! Celeste discusses how this relates to the Pisces New Moon from last week. Also, movie star Raquel Welch died, coinciding with Venus conjunct Neptune. Another related story was Nikki Haley announcing her run for President and Nicola Sturgeon stepping down as First Minister of Scotland. 04:25 – This week's theme is: Bullseye! It can be one of the most productive weeks of the year! 04:35 – The three big things: First, we have a First Quarter Moon (FQM) at 8 Gemini on Monday. This FQM relates to the New Moon from May 30, 2022; it will also connect to the Full Moon on November 27, 2023. This FQM is conjunct fixed star Aldebaran (the right and bright eye of the bull) on the USA's Uranus. It is a hot degree, where Mars stationed direct on January 12. At the time, all the airlines grounded, so take measures to prepare for travel problems, as needed. Also, take care around fire. Interestingly, Venus joins Vesta at 8 Aries in a sextile with the Moon – think, "Crazy eights." Saturn and Pluto are also at 29 degrees, in a semi-sextile, which can speak to being in the right place at the right time. Pay attention! Aldebaran can bring success, but you must act with integrity. 08:44 – Second, Venus (love, beauty, harmony) conjuncts Jupiter (abundance, luck, serendipity) at 12 Aries – the benefics meet! Benefics give to life, rather than take away. Do you have planets at 10-15 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn? Something positive could happen this week, or perhaps you'll make great connections. Do watch out for overindulging. 11:07 – Third, Mercury enters Pisces (March 2 – March 18) on Thursday. Mercury's last aspect will be conjunct Saturn in Aquarius, which may bring a hard news cycle, but is excellent for concentration! Then, when Mercury enters Pisces, it can struggle to communicate. Lean into expressing yourself through creativity. 13:25 – On Sunday, the theme is COMPROMISE. Avoid the pitfall of senseless arguing with those you love. Potential topics are chores and kids. The Moon enters Gemini at 7:47 am PT. 14:50 – On Monday, the word of the day is CHOICES. Consider your options and make a decision. First Quarter Moon at 8 Gemini at 5:25 am PT. 16:12 – Tuesday's focus is DOUBLECHECK. Review your strategy and adjust as needed. The Moon enters Cancer at 6:39 pm PT. 16:57 – On Wednesday, the word is INDULGENCE. Treat yourself to something nice but don't break the bank. 17:58 – On Thursday, the theme is DELIBERATE. Great day for concentrated thinking. Mercury enters Pisces at 2:51 pm PT. 18:48 – On Friday, the emphasis is HEALING. Practice self-care. The Gibbous Moon occurs at 27 Cancer at 2:19 am. The Moon enters Leo at 7:15 am. 20:20 – On Saturday, the word is CAUTIOUS. Look before you leap. 21:16 – Thanks for listening to Celestial Insights! Capitalizing on the ways glass can be arranged in and flows from a crucible, Nathan Sandberg creates reproducible decorative cane and murrine using the Vitrigraph Kiln. His work showcases these elements in a variety of artistic applications and furnishings. When not in his North Portland studio creating work or getting ready for an exhibition, Sandberg can be found presenting modern, innovative curriculum in kilnformed glass at a wide variety of studios and schools around the globe. In 2003, Sandberg received his BFA in glass and ceramics from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. After working at private glassblowing studios and independently furthering his education in kiln-glass, he joined Bullseye Glass Co. in 2005. As a member of the company's Research & Education team, he taught and developed courses and online educational videos as well as assisted visiting artists. Beginning at the Bullseye factory in 2009, the artist began exploring modern Vitrigraph methods that have become the primary techniques used in the creation of his work. Sandberg creates glass panes that are full of movement and repeated patterns that gently guide the viewer's eyes through the work. He states: “Our world is complex. And I realize that occasionally we simply need a pleasant view in order to escape some of the ugliness and take ourselves somewhere healthier, even if only for a moment.” In 2012, Sandberg founded Nathans LLC. This educational entrepreneurship helped establish him as one of the top kiln-glass educators in the world, sending him on teaching adventures from Santa Fe to Zurich and Australia to Norway. In 2015, Nathans LLC moved out of the basement and into a proper studio space in the Kenton neighborhood of North Portland. Today, Sandberg uses OnGrade Studio as his home base and can be found there relentlessly producing work for exhibitions and developing new curriculum to teach on the road and online. Using primarily glass, Sandberg's installations commonly make use of other materials such as wood, metal and concrete. His artwork can be found in private and public collections around the world and has received critical recognition through awards, exhibitions, and art fairs, including Glazen Huis in Lommel, Belgium, 2nd Place Non-Functional, Academic Award WG@BE3: E-merge, Bullseye Connection Gallery and SOFA Chicago. Sandberg worked with Gabriela Wilson as part of an Instructor Collaborative Residency at The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in September 2019. The duo explored the traditional hot shop methods of pulling cane to compare and contrast the process with Vitrigraph methods. Currently, Sandberg operates an 8' x 10' waterjet two days a week and says this equipment will revolutionize what is possible in kilnformed glass. The artist is also in the design phase of a glass shingle backsplash for a 30-foot-tall residential waterfall project. His artwork will be on view at Guardino Gallery in Portland in September 2023 and in October at the Pittsburgh Glass Center with Amanda Simmons, Nancy Callan, Mel Douglas and Corey Pemberton in an exhibition titled Pattern.

Listen to Episode 36, The US Pluto Return & Mercury Retrograde: Surprise!) The Ascendant was at 29 Leo, on fixed star Regulus (the royal star whose nemesis is vengeance). And the MC was on 26 Taurus. There was also a Yod, or "finger of God" to the South Node in Scorpio. Learn more and see the charts in the YouTube video. 07:53 – Second, we have a Full Moon at 16 Leo on Sunday (February 5). Leo is a fire sign that speaks to how we shine our light and our creative self-expression. It is opposite the Sun at 16 Aquarius, which is about our relationship to the collective. How do you shine your light? How do you consider others when you're taking action for yourself? This Full Moon squares Uranus, which is on a visible world point at 15 Taurus. And Venus in Pisces squares Mars in Gemini at this time, there is potential for arguments and feeling emotional. What story is being played out? How do you want to move your vision forward? 13:01 – Third, fixed star Aldebaran (at 10 Gemini) is activated this week, where Mars stationed. It's associated with the bullseye and is said to give riches and honors. Success comes with acting through integrity. It is one of the royal stars of Persia that acts as an amplifier and magnifies the qualities of the planet (where Mars stationed). Astrology King offers that Maternus writes of Aldebaran, "…when aspected by a malefic portends sudden and unexpected involvement in riots and sedition resulting in justly being condemned by the people." The Shootouts create “country music for people who don't like country.” Keith, Geoff, and Rufus can confirm. They got a chance to chat about The Shootouts when lead singer, guitarist, and chief shooter Ryan Humbert stopped by Thunderlove Studio. The band didn't expect to be back in the studio so soon after the release of their Top 10 Americana album Bullseye. But when one of country music's most legendary artists agrees to produce your next record, you don't say no. That's what happened when a mutual friend introduced the band to Ray Benson – longtime frontman and 10-time Grammy-winning founder of Asleep at the Wheel. Just months after the April 2021 release of Bullseye, the Shootouts found themselves hard at work with Benson and co-producer Sam Seifert on the album that would become Stampede. While it may have come together quickly, the sessions resulted in the group's strongest album yet. Again, Keith, Geoff, and Rufus can confirm. Stampede is steeped in all things country music – an energetic fusion of Americana, honky tonk and Western swing that will leave you craving more. Not only are the The Shootouts four members front and center, but the list of artists who stopped by to contribute is like an Americana fans wet dream: Asleep at the Wheel (in addition to Ray Benson producing) Buddy Miller Jim Lauderdale Raul Malo (of The Mavericks) And the legendary Marty Stuart This is a great conversation with a great guy about a great band that has a great album queued up and ready to drop on February 24. Listen as Keith, Geoff, and Ryan talk about all, and we mean ALL, kinds of things. This is a gud'un folks! Put on your helmet and strap yourselves in! Kate Beaton is a Canadian comics artist. She's the author of the award-winning comics series Hark! A Vagrant and Step Aside, Pops, which each earned spots on the New York Times bestseller list. Her most recent work, a graphic memoir called Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands, takes readers in a different direction. Ducks follows Kate's life just after college. She'd graduated with student debt and got a chance to pay it off early: all she had to do was work for a little while mining oil in Eastern Alberta. The oil sands are a world unlike any other, towns and cities created from scratch to forcibly extract resources from the earth. People worked there because they desperately needed a job, for myriad reasons. Kate worked alongside people, mostly men, who were separated from their families, their hometowns and the normal expectations of human behavior. Kate talks to Bullseye about her journey writing this memoir. Content warning: This conversation with Kate Beaton contains some mentions of sexual harassment and sexual violence.

Serial Killer John Cooper DocumentaryJohn William Cooper (born 3 September 1944) is a Welsh serial killer. On 26 May 2011, he was given a whole life order for the 1985 double murder of siblings Richard and Helen Thomas, and the 1989 double murder of Peter and Gwenda Dixon. The murders were known in the media as the "Pembrokeshire Murders" or the "Coastal Murders". Cooper was also sentenced for the rape of a 16-year-old girl and a sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl, both carried out while a group of five teenagers were held at gunpoint in March 1996, in a wooded area behind the Mount Estate in Cooper's hometown of Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.Cooper had a history of criminal activities, including thirty robberies and violent assaults. Footage from the television game show Bullseye in May 1989, in which he appeared as a contestant, was later used as evidence against him, comparing his image with a sketch of a suspect in the Dixons' murder.Cooper was sentenced to 14 years in 1998 for robbery and burglary. He was released from prison in January 2009. Because of subsequent developments in DNA and forensic science, the police carried out a cold case review in April 2009 and were able to identify Cooper's shotgun as being the murder weapon. Further DNA evidence was provided by forensic scientist Professor Angela Gallop.[4] The police collected further evidence against him and Cooper was arrested again in May of that year. He was convicted, in May 2011, for the double murders and sexual assaults and sentenced to a whole life order. Cooper has also been linked to other, unsolved, crimes.True Crime Podcast 2023 Police Interrogations, 911 Calls and True Police Stories Podcast

From Amy's imaginary friend to the Hero of Trenzalore, Matt Smith spent four years and more than a few centuries as the Doctor. So now that he's gone, how do we think he did? Notes and links Thank you very much to the listeners who contributed their questions to this episode: DJ Alpha-T, Frazer Gregory and Nathan Bottomley. Nathan claims to enjoy the idea that the Doctor is a somewhat problematic figure rather than just a traveller or a simple hero. Not everyone agrees, however. In this article in The Atlantic, Ted B Kissell complains that Matt Smith's Doctor, is in many ways, a fairly terrible person. As we said last week, Steven Moffat's actual quote was that Matt Smith is like “Patrick Moore in the body of an underwear model”. None of us seem to know anything about the ratings here, but The Day of the Doctor was apparently the highest rated drama for the year on the BBC, with 12.8 million viewers and an additional 3.2 million views on iPlayer. On BBC America, it had an audience of 2.8 million viewers, which was the highest rating ever received on the channel. For 15 years, John Cooper haunted the villages in Pembrokeshire. Armed with a sawed-off shotgun and a balaclava, he'd fulfill the role of master burglar when he wasn't attacking or brutally murdering his more well-off neighbors. When he was finally caught, he was unrecognizable, but his downfall came when investigators remembered that he'd once appeared in a game show - and used it to help his victims positively identify him as their attacker.
