As the title states, we actually lost part of this episode so we can't publish it without it making no sense to the listener! We have decided to skip this chapter and move onto Chapter 20 as there isn't really anything we can do about it now without rerecording it... which is...effort! AKA Book 2 Chapter 4 - A Journey in the Dark Life imitates art in this episode; We take our own journey in the dark in this episode as our own glorious leader Ross is nowhere to be seen! We are back for Season 2 of Drunk Tolk! (This is chapter 1 of Book 2 of the Fellowship of the Ring but for continuation reasons we are calling it Chapter 13) In this chapter we discuss Frodo being a sturdy beast of a chap, Sam and Frodos relationship, the many many meetings with some great new characters, and the origins of "good read". We are here, ladies and gentlemen - the final chapter of Book 1 of The Fellowship of the Ring! Much like Frodo, we were in need of some help so for this episode we had to call in two super subs, Newman and Deggy to drag us the last furlong to Rivendell! As always, we chat about the important stuff, such as; sneery Nazgul in the nip, does Aragorns healing inventory include dock leaves and buying warts, and would hobbits make good jockeys? In this episode we're relieved to hear Fatty Bolger escapes death & the worlds loudest alarm is set off. We learn the Nazgul get nerfed and have a trait that lets people know that they're about. We discuss the whereabouts of the ponies, Sam's impeccable aim even for a Hobbit & the questionable southerner mentioned that we give our own tepid takes about. It is a sad chapter for all pub lovers....as the hobbits leave the pub! As they settle in for the night they see they have a mysterious (and sexy) [st]ranger in their room...called Strider! We ask if he has better ears than Sam, better insults than Gandalf and higher notions than his film counterpart. We talk about Gandalfs deadly poem in his letter to Frodo and stuff like how Barliman is to blame for Frodos injuries so far. In Chapter 9 we join the hobbits in the pub. We discuss the Breeland, our love for Tolkiens character names and how Tolkien may have invented the fantasy "tavern" trope. In chapter 8 we take a turn for the worst...someone new takes over as host! Not only that but we introduce a new guest pod member! Welcome to the Old Forest. Bring spare jocks because this forest holds grudges and is ready to murder you. In this episode we discuss how this is the first in a trilogy of chapters omitted from the films, all because of the wonderful and controversial character that is Tom Bombadil. In Chapter 5 we go to Buckland. The hobbits help Frodo move while Frodo sits back and watches. We find out songs about baths are a thing, that Sam is a snitch (can he be a rat & a dog?) and that Frodo's friends all know about the ring. Fatty Bolger misses out on the journey of a lifetime, but gains a free gaf and an almost guaranteed death sentence. In Chapter 4 Sam finally meets the Elves, but falls asleep! Did the Elves spike the hobbits? In chapter 3 we are introduced to a very questionable "drink" (is it even a liquid?)  We also ask: Why does Frodo take so long to leave the Shire? Are Elves dicks?  Is Sam a dog? Yes, surely. This chapter is the juiciest bit of exposition we've ever seen. This is the data dump for the plot (when Gandalf comes back to Frodo in the movies and tells him about the Ring). We finally start the book! We meet Bilbo and go to his one-hundred-anaeleventh birthday, aka the Hobbit version of Burning Man. Part 2 of 2.  After much shite-talk, we finally start talking about the Prologue! We discuss important aspects of the series, such as; wtf is a Hobbit, was Saruman a secret light-weight stoner? How big are the feathers in the Hobbit sheriff hats, and how disappointing the Hobbit film was compared to the book.
