Moves like the Bump, the Electric Slide, The Hustle...and even the Y.M.C.A! We end things on a modern note, and talk about the "Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae," made famous by Silento. Mailtime: Jessica Persinger from Salisbury North Carolina wrote in to fadtabulous@rogueintel.com. She said: Love the show...No, I ADORE the show! Can you do a show about store’s of our childhood that aren’t around today? Like Montgomery Wards, etc. That would be EPIC!!! Diet fads have always been a part of pop-culture: They all promised weight loss and natural energy boosts, but do any of these really work? Today we’re talking about a few of the most popular ones. The Cabbage Soup diet promised 10 pounds weightloss in just one week, and Atkins swore up and down that you could eat as much fatty meat and cheeses, but none of them were permanent solutions. Even juicing or eating an all-paleolithic/gluten-free diet can wreak havoc on your body. There are two things to take from today's episode: Diets are sometimes too good to be trueListen to Fadtabulous! On next weeks' episode we'll be shakin' a tailfeather, doin' a little dance...and perhaps even a little Macarena (Aite!
Today we're talking about the things you put on your feet. They protect your toes, and look darned good! We started with the all-mighty platform. which took off in the late 60's, but actually originated in ancient Greece. We then school our listeners about penny loafers, docksiders and saddle shoes. Jason Triviolla from Copiague, NY wrote in to fadtabulous@rogueintel.com. He said: "Hey guys, I actually grew up next to the Johnny All-Weather drive-in, and it was a BLAST! It was a weekend tradition in my family to go see a movie in the family Ford LTD. It was such a shame they closed down in the 80’s. Love the show, especially Carrie." Next week - We’re taking the fat out of our show. Check us out at fadtabulous.com for the latest show updates.
On this week's show we're talking about a few of the fads that made the 50's so Fadtabulous! We start off the show with the Poodle-skirt, or Circle Skirt. We reference the garment by the many movies it's been seen in and talk about how talented the inventor, Juli Lynne Charlot was. Before the break we showcased the hair-style that when requested, made you get your mouth washed out with soap - the Duck's Ass. Often referred to as duck tail or D.A., it was all the rage then...and is still around today in the form of the pompadour and the quiff! Afterwards we reminisced on the drive-in's of old. We did a rundown of both the restaurants AND the Theaters. Some are even still around today. Carrie even stumped Duff on trivia; "Name the most commonly used “grease” for the infamous duck ass?" Apparenty folks, it was Brylcreem. Next week on the show, we'll be taking a walk in someone elses shoes...Destination: Memory Lane. Comments or Suggestions? Hi there, you Fadtabulous humans! On today's episode we're reminiscing on classic toys of our childhood. First up; The Yo-Yo. These toys originated in 500 bc, Greece, and then became a craze within a trend in the 70's and 80's. Next on the list is the allmighty Frisbee (aka. Whirlo-way;Flying Disc; Flyin' Saucer;Pluto Platter) - ANOTHER Craze within a trend! Thanks to Fred Morrison tossing around a pie-tin, and his wife-to-be (Lucille) for throwing it back. He was offered 25¢ for his tin, and the rest is history. After the break we discussed the merits of our favorite gym-time pasttime, the Hula Hoop! C'mon...you know you used to spin it backwards on the gym floor, and smile with glee as it started rolling back to you :) Lastly on the list for today is the Hacky Sack, which is a small bag of dirt, sand or pellets. What use does it serve? To give stoner's something to pass with their feet, while they pass something completely different with their hands! Mailtime: Roy from Satellite Beach, FL wrote in to fadtabulous@rogueintel.com and said: Hey guys! Carrie Lamb, my partner-in-crime on Prime will be filling in for her. Stay tuned for next week, as we'll be talking about fads and trends found in such movies as Hairspray and Grease!.
