#372 - We Are Olli Bryers, A Young Aussie Beats a Tumor and Finishes a Triathlon... With a Twist

    We Are Superman

Send us a textWe're going back Down Under for a really impressive comeback story. Olli Bryers was what we Americans would stereotype as a young, carefree, adventurous Australian who liked to surf, backpack, travel, and occasionally party. Usually, that youthful bliss only gets interrupted when the real world says that maybe you need to find a job to finance this lifestyle, or get serious about a long-term career path. But in Olli's case, that jolt came in his early 20s from the discovery of a spinal tumor that necessitated a surgery that could rob his ability to ever walk again. Fortunately, the doctors were successful in removing the tumor and it was benign. Improbably, just six months later, Olli toed the starting line of his very first triathlon, in his hometown of Newcastle in the state of New South Wales. But that wasn't the end of this amazing comeback story because Olli never would have completed the race without the generosity of another competitor. His finish time was 1:27:16, placing him 114th out of 304 who completed it. But I have a feeling that this is only the beginning for this young Aussie, who as you'll hear in this interesting chat has a lot of gratitude and a very mature attitude about the meaning of his surviving this ordeal intact, including how to approach life and being kinder to those around you. Plus, I've got to say that Olli told me I'm “cruisy,” which I took as a compliment. You'll have to look that one up in your Aussie slang dictionary.Olli BryersInstagram @olli.bryersBill Stahlsilly_billy@msn.comFacebook Bill StahlInstagram and Threads @stahlor and @we_are_superman_podcastYouTube We Are Superman PodcastSubscribe to the We Are Superman Newsletter!https://mailchi.mp/dab62cfc01f8/newsletter-signupSubscribe to our Substack for my archive of articles of coaching tips developed from my more than three decades of experience, wild and funny stories from my long coaching career, the wit and wisdom of David, and highlights of some of the best WASP episodes from the past that I feel are worthwhile giving another listen.Search either We Are Superman Podcast or @billstahl8Register for the American Heroes Run: https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=133138

In this Wednesday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan explains the fast-moving crisis over Greenland, why European military moves triggered President Trump's tariff threats, and how the fallout is already hitting markets and mortgage rates. He then turns to two strategically vital islands, Greenland and Diego Garcia, outlining why U.S. control of both matters for missile defense, China containment, and future war planning. Bryan argues Britain's deal to hand Diego Garcia to Mauritius is dangerously naive and urges Washington to act before Beijing exploits the opening. Back in the Americas, U.S. forces seize a seventh ghost-fleet oil tanker tied to Iran, Russia, and China, while Mexico quietly extradites 37 cartel leaders, handing U.S. intelligence a major win that could reshape cartel operations this year. Domestically, Bryan covers escalating clashes between Democrats and ICE in Minnesota, the DOJ investigation into state leaders after activists stormed a Christian church, and growing evidence of coordinated efforts to shield criminal illegal aliens from deportation. He closes with economic good news from Davos, where global bankers praise the strength of the U.S. economy under President Trump, and warns listeners to prepare for a severe winter storm sweeping from Texas to the Carolinas.   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: January 21 2026 Wright Report, Greenland military escalation tariffs Europe, Denmark NATO Arctic dispute, Diego Garcia Chagos Island China risk, ghost fleet oil tanker seizure Caribbean, Mexico extradites cartel leaders intelligence win, Minnesota ICE church attack DOJ probe, Keith Ellison Don Lemon investigation, Davos bankers praise U.S. economy, winter storm Texas Carolinas

Don't miss this one. Can one simple "yes" really change the course of someone's entire life?  In this powerful episode, Jim Ramos sits down with Richmond, a former Compassion International sponsor child whose story of loss, hopelessness, and redemption will leave you stunned. As a young boy facing unimaginable hardship, Richmond's life was transformed when one person chose to invest in him. That single "yes" didn't just change his childhood—it launched a life of influence that now impacts pastors, leaders, and entire communities around the world.  Richmond's testimony shows what God can do when we choose to shine our light and trust Him with the results. By the end of this episode, you'll learn how one act of obedience can multiply far beyond your lifetime and what it looks like to invest in the Kingdom in simple, practical ways. TALK TO ME, TEXT ITA routine surgery that spiraled into emergency reentry. A viral exchange where a doctor stumbled over a basic question. An ICE arrest that exposes years of enforcement gaps. A Disney stunt gone sideways and a veteran cast member who shielded a crowd from a 400‑pound runaway prop. Then, to end on a laugh, a baggage carousel spitting out socks and underwear before the suitcase finally limps into view.We pull the thread through all of it: when institutions wobble, people look for clear language, steady systems, and ordinary courage. The health update reminds us how non-linear recovery can be—ICU complications, AFib, and the long road back from anemia demand patience and honest timelines. The Capitol Hill clip sparks a frank talk about medical clarity: compassion and precision are not enemies, and patients deserve words they can trust. The immigration case highlights the difference between lawful entry and later violent convictions, and why transparency in removal timelines is key for public safety and confidence. On the ground, a 30‑year Disney cast member models duty in real time, stepping between danger and families. We unpack how safety culture, redundancy, and on‑stage authority prevent small failures from becoming tragedies. We also wrestle with parental risk at public events—when does protection turn into exposure—and give credit to early advocates who helped shape the debate over women's sports. Finally, that luggage fiasco is ridiculous and revealing: small process failures become viral when reliability slips, so we offer practical travel safeguards to keep your gear off the “carousel of shame.”Listen, share your take, and tell us your worst travel story. I had the pleasure of interviewing audiobook narrator and friend Daniela Acitelli, whose narration of three of my books is a highlight of the audiobook experience for me. We talked about her craft, her journey, and her life as an American ex-pat in London. Daniela is an accomplished voice actor and narrator whose work is defined by clarity, emotional intelligence, and an instinctive feel for story. What truly sets Daniela apart is her versatility and respect for the author's voice. She approaches each project as a collaboration, shaping tone and character with care while remaining faithful to the intent of the material. She's as much as part of my books now as the characters themselves. Listen in to our casual conversation.

We jet-set from Beverly Hills to Palm Beach with special guest Taja Abitbol—entrepreneur, wellness visionary, and star of Netflix's hot new reality series Members Only: Palm Beach. Taja, known for her luxury wellness brand Taja Drip, shares her journey from her hippie-named, Moroccan-Tunisian roots to pioneering anti-aging treatments in Miami's Faena Hotel. No booze, no Tylenol, just peptides, NAD, glutathione, and a glowy lifestyle that keeps people guessing her age (she looks 28, but that's not the number!). Taja breaks down how NAD slows aging, and teases her soon-to-launch ingestible wellness line—no gummies, just potent, high-dose liquid formulas. We share hilarious IV therapy memories from OC Fashion Week, complete with cleavage-forward nurses and jokes about IV swapping gone wild, as we bond over clean living, hot hair (shoutout to Paris in Beverly Hills), and spiritual connection, before diving into the real secret to longevity: love, joy, and meaningful relationships. The conversation turns intimate as we all reflect on our long-term relationships (Taja's been with her Capricorn partner for 15 years!), the sacredness of loyalty, and not forgiving people who knew exactly what they were doing. Patrik drops wisdom about dialing numbers with intention and calling people spiritually, while Pol' brings his signature warmth and Saint Peter Paul origin story full of Armenian heritage and holiday birthday charm. She spills the tea on the show's glam cast, wild country club culture, and behind-the-scenes drama—think Palm Royale meets Housewives with fashion, philanthropy, and the occasional pineapple-shaped clue about swingers. The show's origin story? Manifested by Taja herself, passed on by a hairdresser, and guided by a psychic who predicted a producer switch. Fate works fast when you're fabulous.

Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Twist of Irony Clay and Buck dive into the fallout from the historic Delta Force raid in Venezuela, which captured Nicolás Maduro and killed 32 Cuban bodyguards. They explore the strategic implications of Operation Absolute Resolve, framing it as a modern reaffirmation of the Monroe Doctrine and a bold move by President Trump to reassert U.S. dominance in the Western Hemisphere. The hosts discuss how this operation signals a shift in global power dynamics, undermining Chinese and Russian influence and exposing the weakness of authoritarian regimes like Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran. Republicans Stay at Hotels, Too Hilton Hotels cut ties with a franchisee after reports surfaced that ICE agents’ reservations were canceled. Clay and Buck frame this as a major shift in corporate behavior, contrasting today’s swift response with the era of performative activism during 2020. They credit the Bud Light backlash as a turning point, warning brands against alienating half the country and highlighting Michael Jordan’s timeless advice: “Republicans buy sneakers too.” From corporate culture, the discussion pivots to economic policy and tariffs, as Buck cites new research showing Trump’s tariff strategy did not fuel inflation, contrary to predictions by mainstream economists. Clay and Buck argue that tariffs, combined with strong GDP growth, could help balance the federal budget by 2026–2027 if upheld by the Supreme Court. They blast the failures of modern monetary theory and Biden-era spending, emphasizing common-sense economics and Trump’s vindication on trade policy. What Happens in NY, Won't Stay in NY Clay and Buck discussing the decline of New York City under Mayor Zohran Mamdani, warning that his radical socialist agenda—framed as replacing “rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism”—could devastate property rights and public safety. They highlight viral clips of Mamdani’s allies advocating for housing as a “collective good,” signaling a push toward shared equity models that undermine private ownership. The hosts argue this reflects the broader influence of unmarried progressive women on Democratic policy, calling them the driving force behind destructive cultural and political trends. The conversation shifts to economic migration and the future of financial hubs, citing predictions that Miami and South Florida could replace New York as America’s financial capital, while tech billionaires flock to Texas. Clay and Buck attribute this to post-COVID remote work flexibility and tax advantages in states like Florida, Texas, and Tennessee, contrasting these environments with high-tax states such as New York and California. They warn that as wealthy residents flee, blue states will raise taxes further, accelerating the exodus. TX Rep. Chip Roy An in-depth interview with Congressman Chip Roy, who praises President Trump’s bold leadership in Operation Absolute Resolve, the mission that captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. Roy explains the strategic importance of stabilizing Venezuela, restoring its oil production, and preventing resources from flowing to adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran. He emphasizes that this is not “nation-building” but a critical move to secure the Western Hemisphere under the Trump Doctrine, strengthen U.S. energy independence, and protect national security. Roy also warns of challenges ahead, including corruption within Venezuela’s regime, and stresses the need for strong rule of law and economic recovery. The discussion then pivots to the Somali daycare fraud scandal in Minnesota, which has rocked Governor Tim Walz’s political career. Clay and Buck play audio from Walz’s defiant press conference, where he vows not to resign despite mounting evidence of billions in fraudulent welfare payments. Roy underscores how grassroots investigations—like the viral exposé by a 23-year-old YouTuber—are filling the void left by legacy media, signaling a new era of citizen journalism and accountability. He calls for aggressive federal prosecutions, noting that fraud tied to federal funds warrants U.S. attorney involvement, and predicts that heads will roll as investigations expand nationwide.
