Tonight we continue with our interview with Darren Duguay. Darren starts off by talking about things that affect athletes and their personal performance. Darren was personally struggling with addiction but he changed his focus to being busy and running away from his childhood and other things. Once Darren discovered Emotional Fitness® in 2012 it was the missing piece to his puzzle. Then I pose a hypothetical question to Darren and the answer may surprise you. Darren tells us it can come down to the pre-existing conditioning of the athletes from a team, simply fascinating. Darren talks to us about Holistic fitness and at least four components are involved, mental, physical, spiritual and emotional. We learn how important these components are and when one or more are missing how the chair can topple over. In a bit of a Twist, Darren asks Diane and I some questions, the tables have turned indeed. So we play a game and Darren asks the questions and we score ourselves. After the results, Darren tells us this is just a little taste of Emotional Fitness ® and these are a few of the tools used. This exercise was fascinating and below we linked a copy of the scale in case you at home would like to try this. More tools in one's toolkit can't hurt and hopefully, people out there find this helpful in some way. Please check out our Facebook page and see our other guests https://www.facebook.com/Motivate-To-Move-211714423589584The link to the wonderful scale Darren offered to share with our listeners, thanks so much, Darren. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gKdi1co7OR4eFHV2xUxSKp5GVatCGBL_?usp=sharing

When a podcast guest says “This isn't a fairytale”, I buckle up because I know we're in for an interesting and useful conversation. In today's People at Work episode, Gonçalo Silva, CTO at Doist, tells the story of this fully remote company's growth and culture journey over the past decade. Even though Doist is doing a lot right, there are still obstacles in their way and a team to take care of from afar. Oh, and did I mention they've also had to adapt to cope during the pandemic? Granted, they've had a head start with the remote work gig, but the struggle has been real for them too. The hero in the story is trust. Everything they do, how they work, how they make decisions, centers on trust. The success of their asynchronous, remote, fully distributed team depends on this. This interview is real and refreshing, with many insights that can help those of us adapting our workforces to fully remote or hybrid arrangements. Give it a listen and let me know how you enjoyed the ride. About our guest: Gonçalo is the CTO of Doist, working remotely on Todoist and Twist. He's obsessed with building the future he wants to work in, where location is irrelevant to being part of a highly productive team. He loves to work odd hours, but wonders if there's even such a thing within a fully distributed team. You can connect with Gonçalo Silva on LinkedIn at linkedin.com/in/gon%C3%A7alo-silva-006748171/, Twitter @goncalossilva, or Youtube at youtube.com/user/DoistApps

For this special 300th episode, we dive deep into our memories and storage bins to figure out what our 300th most favorite Transformers is and why.
Oliver Twist is a classic tale that has lived on through its numerous adaptations, enabling future generations to enjoy the writings of Charles Dickens….Twist might have destroyed this. With two Razzie wins, and getting Oscar and Carl's attention during the Razzie's episode, you know we had to figure out who would watch this.

This week on Under the Radar with Callie Crossley: COVID-19 might make all the headlines, but another crisis is afoot: loneliness. Pandemic-times have only exacerbated chronic loneliness by creating a world of isolation and social distancing. Can ecovillages — a unique model fostering community and connection — be one answer? Ecovillage cohousing communities have been popular in Europe for decades, but interest here in the United States is ramping up. These communities are designed to integrate sustainability into all aspects of community living, and to create strong bonds between neighbors who all collaborate in the decision-making for the group. Residents of three local communities share their communal experiences and why, post-pandemic, there is even more interest in this model of living. GUESTS: Dave Shevett, resident and one of the founders of Mosaic Commons, a cohousing neighborhood, part of the Sawyer Hill Ecovillage in Berlin, Massachusetts. Sarah Heile, resident of Camelot Cohousing, also part of the Sawyer Hill Ecovillage in Berlin, Massachusetts. Steve Chiasson, resident of Belfast Cohousing and Ecovillage in Belfast, Maine.

In Part Two, Dylan begins by discussing why the gnostic system of thought was considered heretical by Christians. We then talk about the fascinating gnostic text 'The Secret Book of John', and how this creation story is quite different from the one in the Book of Genesis. Eve is not a villian in this tale, but the representative of consciousness and the reminder to Adam of the real heavenly world. In closing, we discuss how popular culture manifests and represents this topic. Dr. Dylan Burns is Assistant Professor of the History of Western Esotericism in Late Antiquity at the University of Amsterdam. In Part One, Dylan begins by sharing the Gnostic story or revelatory myth that takes place in four acts, so to speak, and the evidence of this story found in texts such as the Nag Hammadi codices. We then move the discussion to the definitions of the terms 'gnostic', 'gnosticism', and 'gnosis' and why these terms are somewhat controversial in the academic realm. Don't get all “twisted up and twanglified” that we were so all over the road on THIS episode, because THIS is our very first “official” GRAB-SACK episode! Since the GRAB-SACK is a potluck of metal (and being “the number two” podcast that we are), we went out of our way to be inclusive of ALL metal currently available in the greater, Tri-County listening area, navigating through a veritable cornucopia of metal bands, some of which we've NEVER talked about until now (and some of which we'll NEVER talk about EVER again!). Some newer stuff, some older stuff, some unheard-of stuff, some similar sounding stuff, and (again, we can't stress this enough!) some stuff that we'll NEVER talk about EVER again (regardless of any real or otherwise implied tangentionality). Time to discover “the Poison of the 2000's” and learn what kind of beverage will truly “put some balls on your hair” after you finish licking the “green ketchup” off the “guacamole lizard” at this year's Cinco De Mayo festivities.
