Today's Headlines: The Epstein files were legally due to drop on Friday — and instead, the DOJ punted. Rather than releasing everything as required, the department said it'll roll documents out gradually because it “ran out of time,” and posted about 13,000 heavily redacted files. Some documents then mysteriously vanished from the DOJ website, including a photo from Epstein's apartment that showed Donald Trump, prompting Democrats to demand a timeline and an explanation for what's now very likely an illegal partial release. DOJ leadership insists nothing — and no one — is being protected. Meanwhile, the New York Times filled in some gaps the DOJ didn't, publishing extensive reporting that describes Trump and Epstein as close friends, citing more than 30 former employees, victims, and witnesses. The report alleges Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell introduced Trump to at least six women who later accused him of grooming or abuse, including one who was a minor at the time. Trump has denied the allegations. In other news, authorities say the suspect in last weekend's Brown University shooting — now deceased — may have targeted MIT fusion researcher Nuno Loureiro, whom he reportedly knew from an academic program in Portugal. The motive remains unclear, but the case has raised eyebrows amid Trump Media's sudden merger with a nuclear fusion company and new reporting that Putin heavily influenced Trump's Ukraine envoy. Add in fresh revelations about Stephen Miller pushing for military strikes wherever he could find a target, murky inflation data thanks to shutdown gaps, Trump rescheduling marijuana (and nodding off while doing it), and Elise Stefanik abruptly dropping out of New York's governor race — and yes, it was another very normal news week. Tracy's blackmailing of Martin Gray (Michael E Knight) and her subsequent conversation with Michael were overheard by a mysterious eavesdropper, possibly leading to serious legal trouble for the duo. Moreover, Martin's interactions with a reluctant Drew Cain Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) and the subsequent shooting at Drew's house bring more suspicion to Michael and Tracy.  GH spoilers suggest the eavesdropper, suspected to be Martin, could potentially turn over the incriminating information to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), leading to an investigation involving security camera footage. This could further implicate Tracy for lying under oath and obstructing investigation and Michael for attempted murder.  Spoilers for General Hospital create speculation about the true identity of Drew's shooter, with Sidwell (Carlo Rota), Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante), and a recently resurfaced Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) being potential suspects. Former Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines was in court Thursday as a special judge was set to consider a list of pending motions in his murder trial for the shooting death of Judge Kevin Mullins. I bet you know your favorite way to learn something. Maybe it's by listening to a podcast, skimming a couple of articles on the topic, reading a book, going to a live lecture, taking a Masterclass, talking to a knowledgable friend, playing your way through an App like Duolingo, attending a conference... The point is, we're all pretty different when it comes to our FAVORITE way to take in information. The way that really helps it sink in. For me, it's often about visuals and color, dating all the way back to my high school years when I created my own visual notes summaries of the semester for each class before finals. I enjoyed reading through all my notes and condensing them into a couple of brightly colored pages. Once I had done that, I barely had to study those highlight reels, because the process of making them had done most of the studying for me. Honestly, I looked forward to exam week because I could take my exams and look at my notes for the next day more quickly than I could get through the work of a normal week of school. I had more free time when we had tests, and I enjoyed my review process. Today on the pod, as many folks may be headed into a unit or term review, just as student focus is already taking a left out of school city toward vacation land, let's talk about an easy way to give students agency over their review, ANY review.
