A weekly podcast dedicated to roasting and congratulating the good, bad, and ugly of the Shaeffer Bowl 2019 fantasy football season.
Did you miss us? Everyone's favorite episode of the year is here: that one random episode we record immediately after the NFL draft. Get ahead of the game by listening in on some Ben/Evan insights on this year's rookie draft class, and how the new, unknown faces could affect fantasy next season.... If you just want to hear Evan and I shitpost some of our friends... well... there is plenty of that too. We got some good, miscellaneous mailbag questions as well. And if you do not enjoy this episode, then that is okay too... because it will be four months until we record again lol. And lastly, please wish our Supreme Leader Evan the best of luck as he traverses the country to seek political asylum in Atlanta. See you all in August! --Deputy Commissioner Ben
Congratulations to all of our award nominees and winners. And a requiem for those we lost during this fantasy season (e.g., Zach Ertz). May you rest in fantasy peace. We will likely never talk about you again. Also, if Frank Gore decides to hang up the cleats, then we wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Congrats again to Quin for winning the 2020 Shaeffer Bowl. It was a wild ride this season, but we persevered. Can't wait to do it again next year. Ben & Evan are signing off on the 2020 season, and as always, thanks for listening. Y'all the real MVP.
Well boys & girls, we have our 2020 Shaeffer Bowl Champion: it is Mr. Quin Holtan. Congratulations Quin, and a very Happy New Year to you all. Wouldn't wanna ring in 2020 with any other squad. See y'all at (virtual) owners' meeting, and we will have our customary end-of-season Hypies episode sometime next week (send in literally any questions/comments from the season, we will read it so it's on the record). Much love to you all. Lastly, Connor is officially on the clock. Start that 2021 draft prep asap. Thanks again for listening fam, it's been real 2020.
Well boys, everything comes down to this: championship week. Father (Quin) vs. Daddy (Ryan) for the 2020 Shaeffer Bowl title. Ethan vs. Henry (3rd place). Connor vs. Nick (consolation championship) on the undercard. May the fantasy gods bestow their grace upon all of your empty souls.
Well... f**k. Kudos Hen, you crushed it.
Well boys, the time has finally arrived. After three long months, it is finally mid-December, and the time for first round of fantasy playoffs has come. May your chirping and trash talking in the GroupMe be of the finest quality, and may the fantasy gods bless your running back's ACL's. That is all.
RIVALRY WEEK is here y'all. We're getting into the meat of the fantasy season. Somewhow, someway, we have made it here. Ryan, Nick, and Tony took some tough losses last week. Ryan still has a shot at playoff qualification, but unfortunately the clock has struck midnight on Nick & Tony's playoff hopes. Nick's team never truly got the respect it probably deserved, while the lineup changes to a long-dormant Tony squad for this week were too little, too late. Big matchups to watch in this year's iteration of Rivalry Week: Henry-Ryan has the most serious playoff implications, Tim-Ethan has seeding/top 4 impact. Let's get after it y'all, it's crunch time. Pressure is on.
Sorry audio is kinda dogshit, had to record remotely this week due to Covid/Thanksgiving precautions. At last, not even Hype Train is immune from being logistically impacted by Covid-19. We were truly the last domino to fall. Anyways, the playoff races are really heating up. Big wins for Stew and Henry this week, Jay & Tom are all but eliminated from playoff contention with crucial losses, and Nick's Respected Team took a tumble in the standings after his own L. Have a fun and socially-distant holiday weekend fam.

Everyone is 4-6, there were more trades, people are getting desperate, the Ben-Tim nuclear arms race continues (with Andrew maintaining Switzerland status). Also, Tom please stream P.J. Walker for the glory I will give you $5 if you lose.

I am sure there is a way in Audacity to merge these files, but just deal with it. I love you all
Hey so, uh, two-part episode this week... had some technical difficulties

Well boys, officially halfway through the season. Things are getting real. Lots of close matchups that came down to MNF this week. This is truly the make-it-or-break-it point of the season, where lots of teams are still alive on the proverbial playoff bubble, jostling for position in the standings. It's crunch time everyone! Who will crack under the pressure, and who will come out of the fray in the top 7... only time will tell. May your waiver claims and trades ever be in your favor... (also we have been provided a post-game statement from one our league members... tune in to hear what he has to say about his narrow defeat this week)

Snow, in October? Wowza. Cuddle up and sip on some hot whiskey cider, cuffing season is about a month ahead of schedule. Bye week season is also upon us, time to see who has the bench to handle it and who doesn't (hint: Nick and Tony don't).

What's up fam. Some new flavor this week: not one, but two (!?!) special guest appearances. What more could you want from such a finely-tuned entrepreneurial enterprise like Hype Train. Topics this week include: a Bachelorette season premiere preview from Evan, a voicemail rant from the league punching bag, Zach Ertz maybe being washed, and Evan getting called our by loyal East Coast listener Jacob for hating on DJ Moore last week. Just a lot of quality content. And I mean A LOT of QUALITY CONTENT. @Henry. If you don't like so much quality content, maybe take a nap instead. Also, we are recording this on Tuesday morning, so Ben-Connor and Quin-Stew are still kinda TBD with Bills-Titans tonight (classic Tuesday Night Football). I'm probably gonna lose though rip. Lastly, Chase Claypool isn't currently rostered, so we forgot to talk about him. But his 4 tuddies this week was pretty impressive. Also, he is from Vancouver, so that's cool. MapleTron will surely be a desirable waiver-add tomorrow.

You know it's fantasy when the hot commodity waiver add is someone named D'Ernest Johnson? In other news, all of the Titans have Covid, your favorite co-host crushed the fellow co-host in the much-hyped matchup of the week, we forget to discuss Andrew's team since it's boring, and everyone in the league is either 4-0 or 1-3. New segment on the pod: now that we have a requisite sample size, Evan and I make predictions for next weeks' matchups. If we snubbed you, please complain in the GroupMe about it. It will definitely change our minds.

Word on the street is we have some listeners who are not in the league? Is our audience expanding? Are we becoming a national brand? How long until the Hype Train IPO? We give those folks a shoutout. Also, a big trade from this week has the league buzzing. Also, Covid positive tests out of Tennessee might be f**king with stuff but also might not be that much after all. Tuesday Night Football is what we all didn't know we needed. Thanks Covid. Lastly, we call out the (probably former) Chargers doctor who almost killed Tyrod Taylor. Some people are asking: "would it have happened to a white QB?" Who's to say, some people are asking though

What's up y'all. Good to finally have some regularly scheduled programming. Football was back this weekend. Half of Shaeffer Bowl won. The other half lost. We will discuss it all and more. We go through each of the matchups and discuss the big storylines from Week 1. Kind of the same shit as far as the pod content goes, but during these times same shit is not taken for granted. Also, first person to tell me what animal made a guest appearance on the pod this week gets a 50 cent venmo from yours truly.

What's up y'all, it's that beautiful time of year again. The long offseason wait is over. Your favorite fantasy pundits go through the post-draft analysis of Shaeffer Bowl 2020. We talk about each person's team. There may even well be "Power Rankings"... Who impressed on paper? Who shat the bed? Who did we disagree on? (Hint: one person's name has three letters, the other four). Who autodrafted and still got lucky? Will any of this matter when half of someone's team gets injured? Probably not. Will any of this matter anyways? Probably not, since the NFL season will probs get cancelled 3 weeks in. But hey, at least we got this moment of normalcy in these wild times. Also, I have to drive 6 hours to East Grand Forks in the morning and will be there from tomorrow until Labor Day, so prayfeeesh. (Also, update your team names everyone, c'mon)

Surprise, surprise! (sideways eye emoji) Evan & Ben are back at it with a new offseason episode. Entirely for the people getting through the social distancing, on the pod today we discuss free agency, trades, and college draft (which ended yesterday) which all present fantasy implications for the 2020 NFL season. Given the barren wasteland of sports content right now, we thought it'd be nice to fill the void and present y'all with an hour and a half of rambling, hot takes, and analysis. Hope y'all enjoy (and if you don't, too bad cause this is it lol). You're welcome. Also watch Last Dance tonight 8pm CST

Well, that's it boys. The last episode of the season. Congratulations Tom. You earned it. A big thank you to all of our listeners. I had a lot of fun. Not so sure about Evan though. I bet he had fun at least half of the time. Anyways, see you all in August 2020. Until then... just remember: at one point Josh Rosen was better than Lamar Jackson. Shaeffer Bowl 2020 is truly anyone's game.

Heyooo, the end-of-season banquet/awards show is here. Gettin to the end, as this is the penultimate pod of the season (*tear*). Unfortunately, the quizlet and incorporation of a fan vote for some awards to announce at the owners meeting, etc. was logistically unfeasible. Sorry. Part of low-budget sports podcasting is making promises upon which you cannot deliver. Evan and I decided on some awards and dished 'em out. Some to individual players. Most to owners for doing good/bad things over the course of the season. Lots of candidates so most if not everyone is mentioned at some point. If you're not mentioned that just means you didn't do anything great or terribly awful, so congrats. Anyways, one more episode left. Press time rn is Sunday night so still don't know how Nick-Tom will finish. Later this week we will recap the Championship Week 16 results. Hopefully will see you all at Owners Meeting this weekend. Merry x-mas to you all and happy solstice to the agnostic crowd. Much love --Ben

Yo, yo, yo! it's championship week boys. After a 10-day hiatus of vagabonding around this fine country, Evan and I are back at ya with a Week 15 recap and a Week 16 (aka CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK) preview. Nick vs. Tom to take home all the marbles for Shaeffer Bowl 2019. It all comes down to this. A week from today a new champion will be crowned (yet to have a repeat champ...). Also discussed is the ancillary, end-of-season banquet pod Sunday night (be on the lookout for a quizlet that will serve as a fan vote for a few awards... results to be announced at the Owners Meeting). Recap Post-Week 16 pod will be delayed due to the holiday. Probably Thursday drop. As a segway, the owner's meeting will probably be on 12/27 or 12/28, so message the GroupMe what works for you. Evan said he would send something

What's up guys. The playoffs are here. Round 1 is (almost) in the books. Disclaimer: we recorded this during the 2nd half of Sunday Night Football, so the Connor-Tom & Ben-Nick matchups are not quite finalized yet at the time of recording. Sorry for the scrappiness lol. This is because Ben's schedule is such that he will be gone for the next 10 days for work/vacation lol. So next recording/upload will be Wed. 12/18, post Week 15/semis. Also Tony's anus surgery went well so we are happy for you dude. Also Hen

What's up boys, IT'S PLAYOFF SEASON. Aka the best time of the year. Enjoy it while it's here. We give a review of Week 13 winners & losers, discuss the playoff field and inaugural "playoff opponent draft" ("POD"), and give a little preview of the first round of the Week 14 playoffs. And an FYI for those who do not make it to the end: unfortunately given logistical constraints (i.e., I am traveling for work next week #Benisabigdeal), we will be recording (and uploading) on Sunday during the end of SNF. Hopefully things will be mostly decided by then

What's up y'all. We just got a bunch of snow dumped on us up here in MN. Just shoveled my driveway because I rent a house in the 'burbs. Evan & I go through this week's results, you get a live reaction of the Nick-Andrew finish on MNF, we give an update on playoff hopefuls (and those who fell off of the playoff bubble this week... sorry Ryan). Spoiler: there are 4 teams in the mix for the final 3 spots (Henry, Jay, Quin, Nick). We also give a preview of next week's games aka the last week of the regular season aka "Rivalry Week brought to you by ZipRecruiter". Fantasy playoffs already just around the corner. Man, time sure does fly. Enjoy the moment, folks. Pretty soon it'll be the off-season and these next few drama-infused week's will be 11 months away.

What's up boys. The weather is starting to get a little chillier outside, but man is the action starting to heat up inside the ESPN-hosted Shaeffer Bowl website. Listen in for this week's update. The playoff picture is starting to get clearer, with 6/8 spots pretty much locked up in some obviously-still-not-finalized order. Jay, Henry, Ryan, & Evan are poised to duke it out for the last 2 spots over these last two weeks (the 7th spot in the standings along with the wild card aka the "backdoor" aka the highest regular season point scorer among the bottom 7), according to Evan's impervious model. Joe played the role of spoiler by getting a win over Quin, all but eliminating Quin's 2019 playoff hopes. Tim ended a 3-game losing skid with a win over Yost. We got our last week of byes, so buckle up boys. This finish is gonna be a wild ride.

Another week, another pod. Congrats to Joe on poppin the Q. Liv is a solid 8.5/10 so you really outpunted your coverage on that one. Anyways, sources indicate at press time that this could potentially mean Joe's bachelor party is going to be held concurrently with the draft in Vegas in August 2020. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, boys & girls. We still have this season to worry about. Some movement in the ever-changing standings means some are sitting pretty, while others are starting to sweat. Also, who will sign Colin Kaepernick? Evan gives his bold prediction for the landing place of #KaepLivesMatters
