In this episode of Growmance, Pavi shares the differences growth mindset and fixed mindset, her personal experience and stories of other successful people. The growth mindset concept was coined by Carol Dweck, world renowned psychologist to describe the underlying beliefs about learning and intelligence. Most of us might have read self-help books that tell us "how to be our best self", "failure is an opportunity and not a condemnation", "effort is the key to success", but still we might not be able to put these concepts into practice, why is that so? Mindset are powerful beliefs. No matter where you find yourself on the big game board of life you’re going to have people enter your life who will talk negatively, hurt your feelings and pull you down. In fact the more successful you are and the more you challenge the status quo, the more you hear these negative comments. Pavi shares a monk mindset that you can cultivate for developing inner peace and pleasantness within you and not letting other people’s actions control what’s happening within you and focus on creating your own success and in turn being an inspiration for others. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/pavi-theva/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pavi-theva/support

For decades, a lot of emphasis has been put on certain aspects of intelligence such as logical reasoning, math skills, spatial skills, linguistic skills etc. Researchers were puzzled by the fact that while IQ could predict to a significant degree academic performance and, to some degree, professional and personal success, there was something missing in the equation because research showed that people with fabulous IQ scores were doing poorly in life by thinking, behaving and communicating in a way that hindered their chances to succeed. The missing part in the success equation is emotional intelligence, a concept made popular by the groundbreaking book by Daniel Goleman. In this episode, I share David Goleman’s framework for emotional intelligence and discuss how it can impact our career and personal lives. I share interesting concepts of empathy inspired by Paul Bloom, author of “Against Empathy” and Jamil Zaki, author of “War of Kindness: Building empathy in a fractured world” and whether it is actually doing more harm than good. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/pavi-theva/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pavi-theva/support
