Church Planting resident, Joel Black preaches on our need to find fulfillment in God alone
Kyle Jacobs concludes our series for the first third of the year about loving God. Are you motivated by God's love for you?
Imagine you are in ancient Israel, during the celebration of lights. A gigantic candelabra stands 75 feet high, illuminating the city at night, and a great teacher gets up at the festival, next to the candelabra and says "Hey guys, this festival is actually all about me, I Am the light of the world." What would you do?
We begin our series studying the "I AM" statements of Jesus. When Jesus says "I AM" it hearkens back to the burning bush with Moses, he is claiming to be the God of the Old Testament, but he's revealing more of himself this time. As the bread of life, Jesus sustains us- giving us all we need, do we actually treat him like he's everything we need?
have you ever felt like you're too messy for God? Like you need to get your life together before you can come to him? Pastor Joel shows us how the gospel counteracts these beliefs that keep us from coming to Jesus
When Jesus was on the cross, the disciples panicked. Everything they though was about to happen, all the hopes they had placed on Jesus, weren't going to happen. He was going to do something far better, but during the days between his death and resurrection, the disciples' world was crumbling around them. How do we deal with the unknown and anxiety?
Pastor Joel continues Jesus' road to the cross by looking at Jesus' trial and Peter's denial. In the midst of being falsely accused and abandoned by his followers, Jesus is still looking for Peter, not to condemn him, but to remind him he's still wanted and loved.
Jesus felt anxiety too, so much that he sweat blood before the events leading up to his crucifixion, but in the end, he let his love for the Father and desire to reconcile humanity to himself trump his fear of pain. Will we allow our love for the father to trump our fear of the loss of control?
Pastor Joel finishes out our series through Leviticus and calls us all to live lives of obedience by the Grace given to us in Jesus Christ.
Kyle Jacobs shares from Leviticus chapters 21-22 about how Priests needed to be set apart from the people to be ministers to a holy God- Eventually we will be a part of a holy celebration too, the marriage supper of the Lamb, will you be prepared?
Our youth pastor, Brent Clark, get's to talk to us all about sexual purity on Valentine's Day. The moral of the story is that God wants a pure people for himself.
Jesus is THE G.O.A.T. ... but actually. The Day of atonement points to Jesus beautifully, he is both or expiation and propitiation - Joel explains what these big words mean.
There are a lot of laws of varying levels of awkwardness- but what ties them all together? Why is god so specific? Pastor Joel Gillman preaches through these chapters and shows how God cares about every part of our lives and wants us to have rhythms that separate us from the culture in which we live and push us back to relying on God.
Pastor Chase Jackson gives an overview of the laws for levitical priests and Looks at Nadab and Abihu's lack of awe before God. We all have an awe problem and we need God to remind us of his power, might, and the Honor he is due.
Pastor Joel Gillman gives an overview of chapters 1-6 of Leviticus, which talks about sacrifices and offerings. How does a holy God live among an unholy people? Leviticus tells us the answer.
We often think about Leviticus being mostly about the people of Israel, about how they need to live and interact with God. But what if Leviticus is actually about God? What if the main point is to reveal God's holiness? What if the way we live and worship is what truly reveals Who we worship?
There are a lot of things competing for our attention, and the world tries to get us to relax and unwind in its own way- but how does Jesus want us to find rest? More than that, how CAN we find rest in times like this?
The holiday of Christmas is all about Jesus, but what does Jesus's birth have to say about our hope?
We aren't guaranteed a great life here on earth, so what can we really expect from God? Pastor Chase Jackson explores this question in the context of the Exile.
