So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
This midweek prayer is an invitation to pause and return to Jesus, the Light of the World. This short midweek prayer invites you to pause, breathe deeply, and refocus your heart and mind on Jesus, who says, “I am the light of the world.” Drawing from John 8:12, this prayer creates space to name the places that feel dark, confusing, or hidden—both in the world around us and in our own lives. In Scripture, light is a sign of God’s goodness, presence, and life. Jesus tells us that when we follow Him, we do not have to walk in darkness, because His light leads to life. This prayer invites you to ask Jesus to be light in the places you’re carrying—and to listen for how He may be inviting you to reflect His light through the way you love and live. Take a few quiet minutes to refocus your heart on Jesus and pray along as you seek His light in and through your life. So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
In this second meditation in our Lent series, I AM: A Lenten Journey with Jesus, we slow down with Jesus’s words in John 8:12:“I am the light of the world.” Jesus makes this declaration during the Feast of Tabernacles, a celebration that remembered how God guided His people through the wilderness with a pillar of fire—a visible light in the darkness. When Jesus speaks these words, He is doing more than offering comfort or guidance. He is revealing who He is: the very presence of God, now shining with and among His people. Light is something we often don’t notice until it’s missing. When life feels confusing, when the path ahead is unclear, or when the weight of the world feels heavy, darkness can feel overwhelming. Jesus’s words meet us right here—not as a distant light shining from above, but as a light who walks with us and leads us toward life. This guided Scripture meditation invites you to reflect on Jesus’s words in two ways. First, you’ll be guided to notice areas in your own life that may feel hidden, uncertain, or shadowed. Then, you’ll turn your attention outward, holding the places in our world where it feels like darkness is winning and listening for the hope Jesus offers there as well. Through several slow readings of John 8:12, you will be guided to listen, reflect, respond, and rest—allowing the truth of Jesus as the Light of the World to shape how you see your life and the world around you. Lent reminds us that we do not have to figure everything out on our own. We are invited to follow the Light, one faithful step at a time. In week three of our I Am series, we focus on Jesus' statement, “I am the light of the world.” In a culture filled with artificial substitutes that look like light, this message reminds us that only Jesus is the true source of life, clarity, and salvation. He opens blind eyes, exposes darkness, and calls us to reflect His light boldly so others can see and believe.Want to learn more about Radical?Instagram: @radicalchurchFacebook: www.facebook.com/radicalchurchtxWebsite: www.radicalchurch.lifeRadical Church | Sundays | 8:15AM, 9:45AM, 11:15AM & 12:55PM1151 Bunton Creek Rd Ste 1001, Kyle, TX 78640

Wednesday, February 18, 2026 - John 8:12-30 Jesus as the light, truth vs. lies, Jesus's origin and destiny, His relationship with the Father.
This Sunday, Pastor Jon continued our Come to Me series with a teaching on Jesus' declaration in John 8:12: "I am the light of the world." Jesus' radical claim has both personal and universal implications for us today. Our human tendency may be to impute goodness to ourselves and attribute darkness to others, but the reality is that each of us have darkness in our own hearts that must be dealt with. Jesus leaves all of us with the compelling invitation is to join Him in the light.
Almost everyone has an opinion on who Jesus is. Some say he was a brilliant teacher, a great prophet, or an ethical role model. The only problem with these ideas is that Jesus never claimed to be any of those things; instead, he insisted - repeatedly - that he is God. Few people accepted his bold claim - that he was the one true God in flesh - was offensive, and some accepted it, while others turned back and no longer followed him. (John 6:66) All month long in February, The Story Church will explore the audacious claims that Jesus made about himself in His own words. These controversial statements will leave us with two choices: to take him at his word and accept he is God, or to reject his divine identity and dismiss him as a fraud.
Be Bold in Your Faith Part 3: You Are the Light of the World Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. What Jesus is saying to his followers here is a declaration of truth: You are the light of the world. Not "you should try to be" or "you might become." Jesus declares that if you belong to Him, you ARE light. But here's the tension we all feel, we live in a world that constantly pressures us to dim that light, to blend in, and not to stand out. But that's not what Jesus did. He preached the good news everywhere he went and with boldness and authority. And if we want to be his disciples, he calls us to do the same. Our prayer...Jesus, fill us with courage and strength to shine our lights for Your glory and for Your kingdom. May our light shine in such a way that others see our good deeds and glorify You.Jesus, to Your great name be great glory!I love y'all!Pastor Doug
Many people today seek to approach God on their own terms. Rather than asking what it truly takes to enter the Kingdom of God, we often assume we know what is best. We walk a path we have deemed worthy simply because it feels right to us. This mindset can lead to what I would call “soft universalism.” We may claim the name of Christ, yet quietly choose the parts of Scripture we like while setting aside the parts that challenge us. We begin to shape our own understanding of what it takes to enter the Kingdom of God and pursue that version instead. Tragically, this can lead to the sobering reality Jesus speaks of in Matthew 7, when some will hear the heartbreaking words, “Depart from me, I never knew you.” So the question still stands: How do we enter the Kingdom of God? Jesus, in His love and clarity, does not leave us without an answer. This week, as we dive into John 3:1–21, we will look at His interaction with Nicodemus, where He addresses this very question. Nicodemus wrestles with Jesus’ answer because of the spiritual darkness that blinds him—and, if we are honest, can blind each of us as well. Yet Jesus makes it abundantly clear that we must enter the Kingdom on His terms, not our own. Would you join us this Sunday and prayerfully prepare your heart to consider this life-shaping question: How do we enter the Kingdom of God? For some it may be confusing when Jesus tells us that he is the light of the world, but then also says that we are the light of the world. It makes us wonder how both can be true. Both theologically, and practically, it is actually quite easy to explain when you look at it through a Catholic lens.

In this world, you're not going to be liked for one reason or another. In fact, you might even be hated. We talk sometimes about what we'd like to be remembered for—or about what we'd like to be known or admired for. But what would you like to be hated for? Someday, maybe even today, someone is going to see you or hear you and get angry and "gnash their teeth," as the Psalmist says. Join Pastor Chris as he looks at three Scripture passages to discover ways we can faithfully live in a contentious world divided by tribal factions.

Matthew 5:14-16 - [Jesus said] “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
The sermon you are about to hear was preached by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre on the feast of the Purification, a day when the Church contemplates Christ as the Light revealed to the nations and received in faith by Simeon. Speaking to seminarians receiving clerical investiture and Minor Orders, Archbishop Lefebvre uses this liturgical moment to reflect on separation from the world, the dignity of the soul, and the light of eternal truth given by Our Lord Jesus Christ. His words are not limited to those preparing for the priesthood. They speak to every Christian called to live in the light of Christ rather than the blindness of the world. With clarity and fatherly gravity, he presents the cassock, the minor orders, and the discipline of the seminary as signs of an interior calling: to belong wholly to God, to know Christ above all else, and to become a light for others. Rooted in Scripture, the Church's prayers, and devotion to Our Lady, this sermon reminds us that only those who receive the light of Christ can truly give it to the world.
