Recapturing the Majesty of Heaven In this message, we invite you to recapture the awe and wonder of who Jesus truly is. Through the vivid vision given to John in Revelation, we see the majestic King — radiant, powerful, and glorious. This sermon challenges us to: Behold the Majesty of the King — Witness Isaiah's vision of the Lord high and lifted up (Isaiah 6:1–5). Stand in Awe of His Beauty — Desire to gaze on the beauty of the Lord all the days of your life (Psalm 27:4). Walk in Reverent Obedience — Worship our consuming fire with reverence and awe (Hebrews 12:28–29). Long for the Fullness of His Glory — Anticipate the day when God's glory is our everlasting light (Revelation 21:22–23). As we fix our eyes on things above (Colossians 3:1–5), may our hearts be stirred with fresh wonder, leading us to deeper worship, greater obedience, and unshakable hope.
- Revelation 2 / Crawford Loritts offers the 2nd part of his message, “Recapturing Your First Love.” Revelation 2 contains a stark warning for followers of Christ to not forsake the love we first had for the Lord. We may be involved in many good programs at church or ministries throughout our communities, but if love for Jesus is not central, we’re laboring in vain. Crawford Loritts helps us evaluate just where we stand with the Lord.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/livingalegacySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
- Revelation 2 / It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the outwardly visible part of our Christian lives and fail to maintain a warm and growing relationship with our heavenly Father. It’s never a good idea to neglect the One in whom our life’s direction rests. Do we need to return to our first love for the Lord?Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/livingalegacySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Vegalogue is a regular podcast from vegetable, potato and onion industry peak body AUSVEG, where we examine the pressing issues and latest developments in our sector. The deep, sandy soils of Western Australia's Swan Coastal Plain are among the most infertile in the world. They're also where many of the state's vegetables are produced, however, and growers have long struggled with the low ability of these soils to retain nutrients or moisture.More than 60 percent of irrigation water and nitrogen fertiliser applied to vegetables on the sandy soils of the Swan Coastal Plain leach past the rootzone. The story's not much better for phosphorus or potassium.Against that backdrop, input costs continue to grow, water allocations tighten, and concerns about fertiliser runoff into waterways and wetlands increase. In an effort to address this problem, WA's Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has launched a new levy-funded project to develop a system for capturing leached nutrients and irrigation water from below the crop's root zone, and recycling this water back onto crops as irrigation. The project, which runs until February 2030, will investigate the use of geomembranes installed below the root zone of crops to collect leachate and divert it into dams for reuse. We had a chat with DPIRD research scientist Dr Valeria Almeida Lima about the project, and how this new system might work.Learn more about the project discussed in this episode: Evaluating on farm water and nutrient recapture in Western Australia production systems You can also contact Dr Lima at Valeria.AlmeidaLima@dpird.wa.gov.au.Thanks for listening to Vegalogue! Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Military reporter Emanuel Fabian joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's Daily Briefing. Israel carried out an airstrike in Syria on Monday evening, targeting a military facility near the city of Tartous, in the country’s northwestern coastal region. And today, the Defense Ministry says it is carrying out activities to clear explosives from an area of the Golan Heights near the Syrian border. Fabian updates on IDF activities inside Syria. We spend the rest of the episode on the series of IDF probes into the failures on October 7, 2023. We learn about the immediate failures, including that the attack was a surprise with no intelligence warning. Hamas had numerous forces and was attacking several areas simultaneously. And the IDF had far fewer forces and minimal capabilities available: When the attack began, involving over 5,000 terrorists, just 767 IDF troops were stationed on the border. And then we turn to specific investigations into the air force, the navy and the intelligence wing, and we learn about the series of disasters that led to the tragedies at the Nahal Oz IDF base and Kibbutz Kfar Aza. And finally, we zoom into one of the many tales of heroism that were highlighted in the reports, the story of Kfar Aza resident Brig. Gen. Yisrael Shomer, who fought off terrorists with a kitchen knife before securing a weapon and eventually killing 20. Please see today's ongoing liveblog for more updates. It's time to wake up to the wonder all around you! Tune in as Mark Batterson shares simple ideas to shock your system and spark your curiosity. From prayer walks to outdoor adventures, you'll discover new ways to connect with God. Plus, Mark recounts his favorite wisdom from four thought leaders to help you go all-in as a dad. Key Takeaways Childlike wonder and pure delight are sacred, holy things. Change of Pace + Change of Place = Change of Perspective Nature acts as an antidote to narcissism. There are no ordinary days. You have never not experienced a miracle! Mark Batterson Mark Batterson serves as lead pastor of National Community Church in Washington, DC. He holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Regent University and is the New York Times bestselling author of 24 books. Mark is married to Lora, and they have three children. Key Quotes 19:02 - "[Abraham] is in his tent. God says, Go outside, look up and count the stars. One second he's inside the tent, next second, he's outside. What's the big deal? Well, as long as he's inside the tent, he's staring at an eight foot ceiling. The second he steps outside, the sky's the limit. God is always trying to take us on field trips and take us outside. If you lose touch with nature, you lose touch with nature's God. So, I do think that all truth is God's truth, that God has revealed Himself through his creation, Romans 1:20... One of my formulas is change of pace + change a place = change of perspective. Great leaders are good at mixing up their routine and finding ways to think new thoughts. And sometimes that requires a different place or a different pace." 32:04 - "When we hear the word miracle, we tend to think of anomaly, epiphany, exception to the rule, things that defy laws of nature or defy a doctor's diagnosis. And I've experienced those kinds of miracles. But I think this book is about waking up to the everyday miracle. Right now, 37 sextillion chemical reactions happening in the human body. And I didn't flip a switch this morning. I'm guessing you didn't either. We didn't have to do a blame thing. In Him, we live and move and have our being... So people who say I've never experienced a miracle, with all due respect, you have never not, in fact, you are one." What happens when ideology takes over church leadership? In this episode, Martha Tatarnic welcomes Mike Cosper, creator of The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill and director of podcasts at Christianity Today. Mike explores the dynamics of ideology within church leadership, particularly how ideological thinking can lead to disastrous decision-making. Together, they discuss the influence of secularism and the anxiety surrounding church decline, as well as the allure of charismatic leaders like Mark Driscoll. In a thought-provoking dialogue, they consider the role of populism, the importance of resisting the cult of personality in church leadership, and the practices of worship and storytelling as acts of resistance. Mike also reflects on the reception of his work within the evangelical world and the importance of truth-telling in journalism. He emphasizes the mysterious ways God shows up in broken places, even amidst the church's failings. Mike Cosper has been creating music, radio shows, and podcasts for more than 20 years. He produced and hosted The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill podcast and is director of podcasts at Christianity Today. He now cohosts a weekly podcast called The Bulletin. In Wonder, Part 1: Recapturing the Wonder, Pastor Robey Barnes explores the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth from the Gospel of Luke, showing how their journey of hope and miraculous birth reflects our need to rediscover wonder. Zechariah's answered prayers, the angel Gabriel's message, and the challenge of overcoming doubt remind us of God's unwavering faithfulness. Life's trials often dull our sense of awe, but this sermon encourages us to confront our doubts, trust God's promises, and embrace the anticipation of the Christmas season. Join us as we awaken to the miraculous gift of Jesus and recapture the joy, faith, and wonder that make this season truly meaningful.

In our conversation today we talk about some of the deepest challenges facing the church today. Our guest is Mike Cosper, author of the new book 'The Church in Dark Times,' and he's bringing this incredible framework from the philosopher Hannah Arendt to help us understand the dynamics at play. What Cosper lays out is how the church, much like broader society, has become susceptible to the lure of ideology - these seductive stories that promise meaning and purpose, but ultimately lead us astray. He traces this back to the unbundling of identity that's happened in modernity, where we've lost those deep roots and sense of transcendence that used to anchor us. And the way Cosper unpacks Arendt's insights on the 'banality of evil' is extremely helpful. The idea that the greatest horrors can emerge not from some monstrous, radical evil, but from this hollow, empty shell of a person - that's a profoundly unsettling concept with huge implications. But Cosper doesn't just diagnose the problem. He also points us towards practices of solitude, thinking, and storytelling that can help us resist these ideological forces and recover a more rooted, transcendent vision of what it means to be the church. It's a conversation that I think will really challenge and inspire anyone who cares about the future of Christianity in our time. Mike Cosper has been creating music, radio shows, and podcasts for more than 20 years. He produced and hosted The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill podcast and is director of podcasts at Christianity Today. He now cohosts a weekly podcast called The Bulletin. Cosper also leads cohorts for church leaders and is the author of four books, including Recapturing the Wonder. Christine Caine's Life & Leadership Podcast with Propel Women
Today on the podcast, Lisa Harper is back and, amidst so many laughs – of course, she and Christine Caine give a behind-the-scenes exclusive look at the creation and purpose of their new 4-week Bible Study and video series The Marvel and Miracle of Advent. For many of us, we've heard all about Christmas and the birth of Jesus, but not about Advent. As Christine and Lisa share, you will be encouraged to explore Advent and recapture the wonder of Jesus living among us during the approaching holiday season. SHOW NOTES: What is Advent? Advent is the oldest and best story of God's arrival and its implicit rescue: as J.I. Packer wrote: “Nothing in fiction is more fantastic than the incarnation.” Why focus on Advent? Advent rekindles our awe and wonder, and gets us ready to reengage a hurting world with hope. As Christine explains, Advent activates us: “Activation is an inherent part of preparation.” Hope for a Hurting World Our world is hurting, and needs those who love Jesus to shepherd people through pain well. As Lisa says, “Jesus doesn't say he'll take the pain away; he says He'll be present with us in it.” The message of Advent grounds us in real hope as we face the future. Save 10% at BetterHelp.com/LisaHarper Today's conversation on Back Porch Theology is part travelogue, part exegesis, part confessional, and part pinky swear because while we were visiting Ephesus on our trip tracing the missionary journeys of Apostle Paul this summer, I couldn't help thinking about the Ephesians' sad, downward spiritual trajectory recorded by John in Revelation chapter two when he describes those early Christians as “doing all the right things outwardly yet losing their first love.” Theologian A.W. Tozer said it well, albeit soberly, when he observed, “For millions of Christians, God is no more real than He is to non-Christians. They go through life trying to love an ideal and be loyal to a mere principle.” As our tour group walked along the rocky paths of those ancient ruins where Paul once preached and Timothy planted a church and John discipled new believers while keeping Mary, the mother of Jesus, company in her latter years, we found ourselves pondering what went wrong. What caused that group of once devoted Christ followers to lose their zeal and exchange a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus for rote religiosity? In much the same way a physical autopsy allows physicians and scientists to gain invaluable data that can lead to new, life-saving medicines and procedures, a spiritual post-mortem exam of how the church at Ephesus lost their first love can provide invaluable data for those of us who are committed to keep our love relationship with Jesus healthy and intimate. There will inevitably be both difficult and dry seasons on the Christian journey, but goodness gracious, I never want to be rightly accused as someone whose love for Jesus has faded and I'm sure you don't either. So please grab your favorite beverage and a sharable snack – unless of course it's kale chips, which I will happily abstain from – and pull your chair up on the porch with Alli, Dr. Howard, and me. Today's going to be a good one, y'all.

This week I'm excited to welcome my friend and the producer of the podcast Todd Bushong back to the show for a laid back chat about the state of television streaming, regulating our media diet, and recapturing some of the communal magic of movies and television. With the Oscars airing this Sunday it got me thinking about how incredibly different media consumption is in the age of streaming and I wanted to talk with Todd about that topic as well as offer up some tips and tricks for maximizing your dollar during the current streaming wars. In the episode we delve into the complexities and even stress caused by the modern streaming landscape. We discuss some of the anxiety that I've been experiencing about missing out on many of the Oscar nominated films this year and why that anxiety might be more common than I thought. Todd and I explore the concept of media anxiety, which stems from the overwhelming number of choices available on streaming platforms and the social pressure to keep up with popular shows and films, especially during awards season. In addition we examine the consequences of a fragmented media culture and consider how podcasts have stepped in to fill the void of communal discussion about media. Throughout the episode, we hope to offer practical advice on managing streaming services and consumption, aiming to reduce decision fatigue while maximizing your down time. Some tips include using physical media, being intentional about what to watch, and creating a shared viewing experience with others. We discuss personalizing streaming services to suit your preferences, such as using accessibility features on Apple TV, how to incorporate media into your routine in a controlled manner, and how a healthy media diet is similar to healthy meal planning. ________________________________________ Related Episodes: Nick Gray on Building Big Relationships with Small Parties or Gatherings Kendra Adachi on Prioritizing the Things That Matter Ryan McRae on Hygge, Pacing and Rest _________________________________________ Connect with Erik: LinkedIn Facebook Instagram Threads _________________________________________ This Podcast is Powered By: Descript Descript 101 Castmagic Ecamm Podpage Rodecaster Pro Top Productivity Books List Make sure to support the show by checking out the sponsors! Today on the show, we're talking about Oval, a new DeFi primitive that Hart Lambur from UMA is introducing to the world of DeFi's biggest lending markets. Billions of dollars have been liquidated from protocols like Aave, Compound, and MakerDAO over the years, and these liquidations have been extremely inefficiently priced, due to reasons! Reasons that we will discuss here on the show today.
