What does it look like to pray with bold faith when you're facing something bigger than you can handle? In this episode, Ivelisse welcomes Mark Batterson,  lead pastor of National Community Church and bestselling author of The Circle Maker,  for a conversation that will inspire you to keep circling your hardest prayers without letting fear have the final word.Drawing from the ancient story of Honi, who drew a circle in the sand and prayed boldly for rain, Mark shares what it means to bring God audacious, persistent prayers, especially in the face of illness. He opens up about his own healing from 40 years of asthma, his wife Lora's breast cancer journey, and how "circling your Jericho" can transform the way you face a diagnosis. You'll also hear how mindset, laughter, gratitude, nutrition, and community are all part of participating in your healing, and how to tune into the Holy Spirit's voice through Scripture, silence, and wise counsel.Whether you're in the middle of a health battle or walking alongside someone who is, this episode will remind you that God's dreams for your life are worth the wait, and worth the prayer.Learn more about Pastor Mark Batterson here.Suggested Resources:National Community ChurchEbeneezer's Coffee HouseThe Miracle TheatreThe DC Dream CenterCapital TurnaroundThe Dream CollectiveBOOK:  The Circle MakerBOOK:  Do It For A DayBOOK:  Whisper: How to Hear the Voice of GodBelieve Big Gratitude JournalYour donations power our podcast's mission to support cancer patients with hope, insights, and resources. Tuesday, 26 May 2026   They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.' He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.' Matthew 20:7   “They say to him, ‘Because no one, us, he hired.' He says to them, ‘You go, also you, into the vineyard, and the ‘if it should be righteous', you will take.'” (CG)   In the previous verse, Jesus said the housemaster went out at the eleventh hour and found laborers still standing around idly. He then asked them why they were standing idle all day. Next, we read, “They say to him, ‘Because no one, us, he hired.'”   As noted previously, there could be other reasons, such as having turned down a particular job, having not been where others saw them, etc. Regardless of that, however, by the end of the day, they had not been hired for a job.   At least they were persistent not to give up and go home before the final hour of the day. Instead, they remained hopeful of some small tasks to fill the final hour. And lo and behold, “He says to them, ‘You go, also you, into the vineyard.'”   This was a pretty sweet deal. They may not make a lot, but the heat of the day is behind, the workers would be finishing up their labors, and whatever they were tasked to do would include that final clean-up rather than the more rugged labors of the day. Whatever they made would be appreciated and just. This was confirmed with the housemaster's last words to them, “and the ‘if it should be righteous', you will take.”   Life application: These laborers were told they would be given what is just and righteous. The agreement was made, and so whatever they received was to be considered in that light. This is no different than our own situation when working.   A set amount of work is detailed, a set amount of hours a week is specified, and a particular amount of money, along with any benefits, is agreed to. In return for being hired with the expectation of the job conforming to those parameters, employees are then expected to perform according to what they said they would do.   It is unconscionable for the employer to withhold the wages of someone who worked according to a preset agreement. It is also unconscionable that a person would not show up for work and expect to be paid anyway.   But the world is full of cheaters from both ends. They refuse to do what they committed to. Other people will see this and look down on those who don't meet their obligations. But how many of us fail to meet our obligations in other ways? We treat divorce as if it were just a sad occurrence. Societally, it is no longer looked at as a failure to meet one's obligation to another.   People may steal from a store, as if they have a right to whatever it is they put their hands on. They fail to meet the obligation of paying for what someone else had to produce. Stores cost money to build or rent. Electricity, water, insurance, and many other bills have to be paid. The cost of merchandise must be considered. And yet, people steal from others as if they have a right to what is taken. This has been blown to epic proportions in liberal cities where even the government fails to protect the rights of store owners. Instead, they treat theft as a right for the poor to participate in.   All of these type of things leads to the greatest failure to meet obligations of them all. As people continue to tolerate such activities, they also move further and further from God. They fail to honor Him for what He has done. They become ungrateful, abusive, harmful toward others, etc. Unholiness abounds, and any thought of honoring God is cast out the window. In fact, those who attempt to honor Him are ignored, mocked, treated as societal offenders, etc. This pattern has repeated itself throughout history, including in the pages of the Bible. We need to be firm in meeting our obligations, resolute in standing up for morality, and firm in never accepting the unholiness of others – be it individuals, organizations, or governments.   Sometimes the hardest thing to do is the right thing, but doing right is the right thing to do. Honor God through standing fast and doing what is right at all times.   Lord God, help us to be people of integrity, even as the world moves towards ever-increasing wickedness. May we never allow unholiness to creep into our surroundings and cause us to adapt to it. Help us in this, O God. Amen.

In this message from Exodus 20:7, Pastor Jared Richard continues Bay Leaf Baptist Church's series through the Ten Commandments by turning the congregation's attention to the Third Commandment: "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain." Using a word association exercise with names like Billy Graham, Mother Teresa, and Adolf Hitler, Pastor Jared establishes that names are far more than titles — they represent the full weight of a person's life and character. Because God's name, Yahweh, is a revealed, personal, and representative name that encapsulates all of who He is, it carries a holiness that demands our deepest reverence. As Exodus 3:15 declares, "This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations." Pastor Jared then walks through the many ways God's people misuse His name, going well beyond the obvious offense of profanity. Drawing from the Old Testament, he identifies three ancient patterns of misuse — sorcery, false prophecy, and false oaths — and shows how each has a modern equivalent. The prosperity gospel, for instance, mirrors ancient sorcery by invoking God's name as a tool to claim health and wealth, effectively turning the relationship between God and man into a transaction. False prophecy lives on whenever someone attaches "God said" to their own spiritual intuition or personal agenda, and false oaths persist whenever we use God's name to prop up promises we have no intention of keeping. Ultimately, Pastor Jared anchors the sermon in the gospel. Every person in the room has broken this commandment and stands guilty before God. But Jesus, who declared in John 12:28 that His aim in going to the cross was to glorify the Father's name, perfectly honored what we have profaned. He was condemned for blasphemy so that blasphemers could be forgiven. Because of Christ, we are now free to hallow God's name as we were created to — calling upon it in worship, prayer, and lives of genuine integrity that reflect the Lord we claim. We all have habits, but not all of them are helping us follow Jesus. In this episode, we're talking honestly about the habits that quietly shape our lives and how to break the ones that don't honor God. If you've ever thought, “I don't know when to say no,” you're not alone. That tension is real, especially in a culture that normalizes distraction and blurs the line between what's harmless and what's actually pulling you away from God. So how do you know the difference between a bad habit and a sinful one? And more importantly, how do you change? If you're ready to stop feeling stuck and start walking in victory, this episode is for you.   Helpful resources:

"Take A Stand" is our series at Fusion Christian Church on having the courage to stand strong in the faith. From the book of Daniel we will learn what it takes follow God in a world that doesn't. In chapter 1, Pastor Zac will teach about committing to honor God in everything we do.If you're going to take a stand, there's no prize for compromise.Taking a stand means being resolute in your decision. If you claim to be resolved but you compromise around the edges, you won't win any prizes! Taking a stand means refusing to compromise, knowing that doing so will forfeit your benefits. God wants people who are all in on his mission and won't cave to the world. God wants people who will commit to him even when the world wants us to lower our standards. If we keep choosing the world over God, eventually God will give us over to what we keep choosing.Sometimes people become angry with God's judgments, but we really have no right to feel that way. When God chooses to punish us, it is only because we chose to sin. Because God is merciful, he often does not punish us right away. However, if we continue to sin and reject God's correction, eventually he will give us over to the consequences of our sin. If we think we can cheat the consequences of our sins, God will eventually punish us.Honor God in the small things. In the story of Daniel and the three Hebrews, they took a stand over their diet. God had given them restrictions on what they could eat and drink, and they chose to abide by those rules. Even though the culture around them was eating all sorts of other foods, Daniel and his friends decided to honor God even in something as small as their diet. Choosing to honor God in small areas of our lives shows him that we are willing to honor him in much bigger areas as well.God honors those who honor Him.God is gracious and fair. He will always reward those who seek and honor him. Taking a stand as a Christian means choosing to follow God and to honor him with our lives. We offer him everything and he honors us for doing so, knowing that it will cost us in this life. How can you choose to honor God in your life this week?

What if the early church had less of everything we have today and still managed to do more than we've ever done?No buildings. No budgets. No platforms. No cultural influence. And yet they turned the world upside down.In this episode, Pastor Talaat McNeely launches the brand-new series Unstoppable: A Journey Through the Book of Acts with a message that cuts straight to the heart of why the modern church often feels like it's falling short of what we read about in Scripture. We have more access, more tools, and more resources than any generation before us. But do we have the same power? Before the miracles happened. Before thousands were added to the church. Before any of it. Jesus gave his disciples exactly one instruction. And it wasn't to go. It was to wait.In "Wait for It," Pastor Talaat unpacks three things every believer needs to understand about how God moves:The Prescription: Why God always wants to do something in you before He does something through you, and why the waiting is not a delay but a design. The Power: What the sudden arrival of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2 means for the church today, why the Holy Spirit is not optional equipment but the engine behind everything, and what it looks like to be filled or filled again. The Pattern: How the early church was formed after the Spirit came, what their devotion to the Word, to fellowship, and to prayer actually produced, and why that same pattern is the blueprint for what God wants to build in us right now.If you've been feeling stuck, spiritually dry, or like nothing is moving no matter how hard you try, this episode is for you. You haven't missed it. You're not behind. You may just be in Acts chapter 1 when everything inside you is desperate for Acts chapter 2.The same Spirit. The same mission. Work takes up a huge portion of our lives, yet many Christians rarely think about it theologically. In this fifth episode in our Not Just Sacred series, we discuss what the Bible actually says about work: why it was part of God's design from the beginning, how it was affected by the fall, and why it still matters deeply to God today. We talk about work as calling, the danger of making it an idol, and what it looks like to "work as unto the Lord" through our jobs. Plus, in a world questioning the future of work through automation, AI, and ideas of a workless society, what does Christianity have to say? Whether you love your work, feel stuck in it, or wonder if it really matters, we hope this conversation reframes your job as a place to honor God, serve others, and live out your faith with excellence.

Five Lessons for Living from Proverbs – 5

Broadcasts – Christian Working Woman

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 20, 2026 3:00

I've been sharing five lessons for living, which are found in Proverbs 3. Here is the fifth lesson for living, from verses 9 and 10: Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing and your vats will brim over with new wine (Proverbs 3:9-10). Now this one is close to home, because it talks about money, and if anything is close to our hearts, it's our money—right? But please believe me when I tell you your avenue to financial security begins with your willingness to make this lesson a part of your life. And what is that lesson? It is to give God the first part of your money. You may be thinking, But I'm not wealthy and I barely have enough now to make ends meet. I understand that feeling, but this lesson has nothing to do with whether you have lots of money or not. It simply says to give God the first part. Honor God by giving money to him, and then pay your bills. If you wait to give God the left-overs after you've paid your bills and used your money for your own desires, you'll discover you just never seem to have much left-over. The enemy of your soul will see to that! It takes a step of faith to begin this practice of honoring God first with your money, but this is truly the first step to financial stability for a Christ-follower. How much should you give? Think of what you think you can afford and then double it. That's a good starting place. Give God more than you think you can. It's the one place God invites us to test him. In Malachi he says, test me in this and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it (Malachi 3:10). God is not promising us financial wealth, but he is promising financial stability and security if we will honor him first with our money. Start where you are—and the sooner the better—and see if this lesson for living is not one of the best principles you've put in place in your life. As my dad said to me so often, “Honey, you can't out give God,” and I promise that is true.

"It's Complicated" is our series at Fusion Christian Church on relationships. Everyone knows our relationships are messy, but not everyone knows how to navigate them. This series will provide godly, biblical principles for keeping your relationships much less complicated! In part 1, Pastor Zac teaches how to honor God with our sexuality both in dating and marriage.Fall in love with someone who loves Jesus. The most important decision any person makes after deciding to follow Jesus is deciding who to marry. For those of us who have decided to follow Jesus, marrying someone else who loves him too is of utmost importance. The bible is very clear that those who follow God should not marry people who don't follow him. If you have, the best thing to do is to honor God in that marriage. But if you are an unmarried Christian, you should not marry anyone who is not Christian.Honor God with your sexuality.God designed sex for marriage and designed marriage to be between one man and one woman. To honor God with your sexuality, therefore, means to maintain purity outside of marriage and faithfulness within it. Pornography, adultery, and extra-marital sex are all dishonoring to God and should be avoided.Lifelong marriage is God's design from the beginning.Part of God's design is also for marriage to be lasting. Although the bible allows for divorce in certain limited circumstances, God hates divorce, and desires that reconciliation happen instead when possible. Marriage is meant to be for one man and one woman to be joined for life. When this happens it allows marriage to properly mirror the relationship between Christ and the Church.Move from selfishness to selflessness. The single biggest obstacle to healthy relationships is selfishness. If we can teach ourselves to put the other person's needs above our own, we will find that selfishness disappearing. When both partners in a relationship do this, the relationship becomes healthier. How can you put others above yourself in your relationships?

Your real estate goals can both build your business and honor God simultaneously. The industry tries to separate the two, but you don't have to give into the pressure to fit the mold.In this powerful conversation on The Faithful Agent Podcast, Garrett Maroon sits down with global real estate leader and holistic business coach Cari Briner to unpack what it really means to pursue real estate agent goals that are rooted in obedience — not hustle culture.Cari shares her journey from transactional success to intentional faith driven business leadership, revealing how God began using her real estate career as a platform for marketplace ministry. From building a 10,000-square-foot coworking space led by prayer, to boldly weaving faith into her organization, Cari's story challenges Christian realtors to redefine success beyond volume and visibility. This episode dives deep into real estate goals, realtor structure, realtor systems, and the unseen spiritual framework behind sustainable growth. Cari, a real estate mom, explains why obedience creates momentum, why distraction blocks clarity, and why your business expands fastest when your identity is no longer tied to production. You'll also hear how God used small, faithful steps — not massive strategies — to grow a national real estate organization that now sells hundreds of millions in volume. Along the way, Cari opens up about hardship, surrender, and how leaning into God-given purpose transformed her leadership, peace, and priorities. If you've been setting real estate agent goals without first asking God what He wants your business to become, this conversation will reset your framework.
