Together, they explore what makes Nines so uniquely gifted (that rare ability to bring calm, see every side, and hold space for everyone) and what keeps them stuck. You'll hear about:The Nine's core fear of being overlooked, fragmented, or disconnected, and how it quietly shapes their choicesWhy Nines aren't lazy, they're numb, and the difference mattersHow Nines experience God (hint: it's often felt more than figured out)The surprising stubbornness that hides underneath all that easygoing presenceA Joshua 1 practice for the Nine who is ready to stop staying smallWhether you're a Nine yourself or you love one, this conversation is an invitation: God isn't asking you to stay quiet. Mark Scandrette explores Jesus' most countercultural teaching, the Beatitudes, and what it means for how we lead. This conversation digs into the upside-down kingdom values of mourning, meekness, mercy, and peacemaking, and asks what spiritual leadership looks like when it's rooted in these ancient rhythms. After a long winter break, we finally sat down again to record another episode of the Modern Homesteading Podcast. It had been months since we last talked together, and as we caught up, it became clear that even though winter can feel slow, homesteading never really stops.Spring is creeping in. The snow is melting in some places, the mud is arriving in others, and everywhere homesteaders are beginning to prepare for the busiest time of the year. This episode turned into a simple homestead update — talking about maple syrup season, garden plans, animals, compost, and the everyday work that makes a homestead function. And honestly, that's what homesteading really is.Not constant excitement, but the steady rhythm of seasonal work.
This message asks a piercing question: if we stop accomplishing things, are we still valuable? Walking through Mark 2:23–28 and the rhythm of creation in Genesis, it reminds us that God designed us to work from rest, not for rest, and that true Sabbath invites us to trust Jesus' finished work rather than striving to prove our worth.
Lent is an invitation to slow down. For centuries, followers of Jesus have entered this season by creating space - space to listen, to reflect and to return their attention to God. Jesus invites us into a way of life shaped by simple, faithful practices - prayer, fasting, rest, generosity, Scripture, and love of neighbor.. These practices are not meant to earn God's love. They are rhythms through which we learn to receive it. Rhythms of Grace is designed to walk with you through Lent by offering gentle, intentional practices that shape us over time. Grace meets us not only at the finish line, but along the way.
What if the most spiritually formative season of the Christian year isn’t Advent or Lent—but the long stretch of ordinary time in between? In this episode of the Thinking Christian Podcast, Dr. James Spencer is joined by Dr. Amy Peeler, Kenneth T. Wessner Chair of Biblical Studies at Wheaton College, to discuss her book Ordinary Time: The Season of Growth, part of the Fullness of Time series from IVP. Together, they explore how the church’s longest season—often overlooked or misunderstood—shapes Christian maturity, patience, and attentiveness to God’s work in everyday life. Amy shares her own journey from a free-church background into the Anglican tradition, where the church calendarprovides a shared rhythm for worship, discipleship, and formation. Ordinary time, she explains, is neither feast nor fast. Marked by the color green, it reflects growth—slow, patient, often unseen—rather than dramatic spiritual highs. This season mirrors how most of life is actually lived: meals, conversations, work, rest, and faithful obedience in the ordinary. James and Amy discuss how modern Christians—both liturgical and non-liturgical—often struggle with cadence, reflection, and rest. Without intentional rhythms, churches can become overly programmatic, while individuals drift into distraction, passivity, or burnout. Ordinary time offers a corrective: a space to reflect on God’s work, attend carefully to Scripture, and allow spiritual growth to “catch up” after seasons of intense focus. The conversation also explores how ordinary time functions formatively: As a season of growth rather than spectacle As an extended invitation to rest and receptivity, not spiritual laziness As a reminder that God is present in the mundane—not just in mountaintop moments Amy draws on biblical texts (especially Genesis 18) to show how God often appears not in dramatic events, but in ordinary hospitality, conversation, and faithfulness. She also reflects on Trinity Sunday, explaining how ordinary time helps Christians attend more deeply to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—not as abstract doctrine, but as lived worship shaped by prayer, posture, and participation. Throughout the episode, James and Amy examine how formation happens over time, why Christians need both structure and reflection, and how ordinary time can function almost like an extended Sabbath—a season where believers learn to cease striving and trust God’s work in them. PRE-ORDER the upcoming book now: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/the-bookWe aren't gonna tell you how to fix ADD/ADHD. (Spoiler alert, you or your loved one don't need fixing.) We are, however, going to teach our 6-month group on how to relate to ADHD, in yourself or in someone else. The actual problem is a societal standard our brain wasn't designed for. In this podcast we are talking about months 3 & 4 of the slow group curriculum. We will explore navigating overwhelm, and our capacity versus our desire. Modern society rewards our working beyond our capacity, forcing many of us to burnout and collapse. No wonder it's even more difficult to not fit the standard productivity mold that shames so many patterns of ADHD brain types. The slow group will learn how to assess, then tend to, capacity. Instead of living from desire, an inherently dominating pattern, we can start to honor the ebb and flow of our capacity. An important element is finding our unique motivators, based in pleasure and interest, as willpower does not provide the dopamine to motivate an ADHD brain. Also discussed will be relationships, from the perspective of the person with ADHD, or from the perspective of being in relationship with the person with ADHD. Camille and Luis talk about how they navigate their family relationships when different brains need different systems from each other to thrive. Javier Jara has been working on his latest album for a number of years, and it is now done! Our Rhythms, Our Voices is a collection of 12 songs, each the story of a real person, honoring Latin Americans for their contributions to The United States, while also exposing the scapegoating and oppression Latin Americans experience in the United States, especially in recent years from prominent politicians and media moguls. The music is lush and beautiful. Javier is masterful on the guitar and his accompanists are likewise masters of their crafts. This music is joyful to listen to, and the lyrics tell stories, poignant and personal, derived from interviews which were turned into poems and then into songs. Javier performs in the Austin Texas area, sometimes to benefit Casa Marianella a non-profit agency that serves immigrants in need of housing, and other resources. • Javier Jara on YouTube • Former DOJ Attorney explains proposed new rule exempting DOJ Attorneys from disciplinary actions for unethical behavior • Comment on the proposed rule Music by: Javier Jara The post Javier Jara – “Our Rhythms Our Voices” appeared first on Paradigms Podcast.

Ministry leaders are often exhausted — but most don't know what to do with their fatigue beyond pushing through it. In this conversation, Brett Payne, founder of Rhythms for Life Ministry, unpacks the four types of fatigue, why most leaders rarely pause to know the difference, and the untapped freedom that comes from actually processing our weariness instead of ignoring it. Packed with practical wisdom from decades of working with ministry leaders, Brett brings us new ways of thinking about “tiredness” and strategies to help leaders recover joy, clarity, and sustainable health in ministry.Followed by a personal conversation with ServingLeaders Chief Operating Officer, Joe Bruni. Joe gives us a taste of what a sabbatical is really like and provides an inside look at his own journey of sabbatical in 2025 with practical wisdom for leaders around how to prepare for and fully engage in this key ingredient to healthy leadership in their own lives.Rhythms for Life Ministry
Adriana Forte is a Brazilian-born writer, facilitator, and developmental thinker currently based in a rural intentional community in Bellingen, New South Wales, Australia. Originally trained as a journalist, Adriana has spent years investigating the intersection of women's cyclical biology, embodied knowing, and the structures of modern life. She runs retreats and workshops through her Substack platform C-Lab (A Lab for a Cyclically Informed Society), and is currently completing a book on the spell of modernity and the role of the matriarch as a force for cultural repair.________________In this conversation, James sits down with Adriana to explore one of the most under-examined questions in contemporary culture: what happens when society is built around a linear, continuous model of productivity — and half the population runs on a fundamentally cyclical one? Drawing on her own journey from Brazil through Hong Kong and India to off-grid life in rural Australia, Adriana maps the hormonal landscape of the female cycle and argues that the oscillation between estrogen and progesterone doesn't just produce moods — it produces a distinct mode of subjectivity, perception, and thought. We explore the cultural erasure of rites of passage, the psychological costs of the contraceptive pill, the wisdom encoded in perimenopause and menopause, and why Adriana believes the matriarch — the post-menopausal woman — may be the missing counter-energy to the relentless forward drive of modernity. The conversation moves through evolutionary biology, embodied philosophy, grassroots community-building, and genuine hope for a more rhythmically intelligent future.________________You can find Adriana's work at:Substack (C-Lab): https://theclab.substack.com/________________⏳ Timestamps:0:00 Intro - Our Bellingen Connection5:41 How Adriana ended up on this journey12:56 Critique of Modernity and Birth Interventions15:23 Rhythms and female psychology24:38 A map of the menstrual cycle39:11 The Influence of Modernity on Women's Psyche45:59 Transgender and phenomenology of hormones52:01 The oscillating nature of female psychology59:25 The spell of the System on modern psychology1:09:15 The challenge of organising around cyclical society1:15:03 Adriana's Matriarch Book1:18:43 Where to get more from Adriana1:19:39 Adriana's Guest Recommendation

Send a textWholehearted Storywork BONUS Episode (part 5)Before we move into our Type-specific series, there's one more pattern we need to talk about, a place where many women get stuck BEFORE they ever step into their Hero moment. In this bonus episode of the Wholehearted Storywork series, Amy explores the Sidekick stuck point, not as a lesser role, but as a protective pattern in which we use service, support, and "being helpful" to avoid claiming our own agency and stepping into our own story. This conversation gently names how "I'm just here to help" can become a hiding place rather than a calling, and why recognizing this pattern is essential before you can truly awaken Hero energy. You'll explore:Why the Sidekick pattern often forms before the Hero awakening, not after. How serving others can become a way to avoid your own calling. The difference between faithful service and hiding behind helpfulness. When Sidekick energy is a stuck point versus when it's a mature, faithful season. Why this pattern is especially common among Christian women. How Type Nine energy illustrates this stuck point (and why we're starting there next month). This episode isn't about stopping your service or diminishing the value of supporting others. It's about asking: Am I serving from wholeness, or am I serving to stay safe?If you've ever felt invisible while being incredibly useful, if you've championed everyone else's dreams while dismissing your own, or if the idea of pursuing your own calling feels selfish, this conversation will meet you exactly where you are.Sometimes the most courageous act is stepping out of the wings and into your own story.Support the showRESOURCES FOR YOU: Join the Waitlist for 1:1 Coaching with Amy Wicks https://www.simplywholehearted.com/callamywicks Not sure about your Enneagram Type? Lent is an invitation to slow down. For centuries, followers of Jesus have entered this season by creating space - space to listen, to reflect and to return their attention to God. Jesus invites us into a way of life shaped by simple, faithful practices - prayer, fasting, rest, generosity, Scripture, and love of neighbor.. These practices are not meant to earn God's love. They are rhythms through which we learn to receive it. Rhythms of Grace is designed to walk with you through Lent by offering gentle, intentional practices that shape us over time. Grace meets us not only at the finish line, but along the way.
What does a disciple actually do? In this episode, we continue our study of Michael Heiser's What Does God Want? by exploring the everyday practices that shape believers into the likeness of Christ. Disciples don't just believe the right things—they live differently. They care for one another like family. They pursue intentional fellowship that forms the mind of Christ. They pray—not to inform God, but to depend on Him. They fast—removing distractions so they can seek Him more fully. These rhythms are not religious performance. They are not ways to earn God's favor. They are the steady practices that align our hearts with His Lordship and knit us together as a spiritual family. If you've ever wondered what spiritual growth actually looks like in real life—not in theory, not in church slogans—this episode will give you a biblical and practical framework for walking faithfully with Jesus. This is Part 1 of the final section in our series on discipleship. Next week, we'll continue with worship, confession, Scripture, suffering, and making disciples. This podcast is listener-supported. If you believe in equipping believers to discern truth, leave deception, and stand firm in Christ, you can help carry this mission forward here:

J.I. Packer once wrote, “What matters in life is not what you make of it, but what God makes of it for you.” That contrast becomes especially clear when it comes to money. When circumstances shift, and uncertainty rises, the quiet question surfaces: Will there be enough? Our culture tells us peace comes through self-provision—earning more, saving more, planning better. But Scripture invites us into a different posture: resting in a Father who provides. Look at the Birds: Provision Begins with Relationship In Matthew 6:26, Jesus directs our attention upward: “Look at the birds of the air…your heavenly Father feeds them.” Birds don't build financial models or stockpile reserves. Yet God sustains them. Jesus' point isn't irresponsibility—it's relationship. Behind every plan, paycheck, and effort stands a God who sees, knows, and provides. Throughout Scripture, this truth repeats like a steady drumbeat: Abraham climbs Mount Moriah in obedience, and God provides a ram (Genesis 22:13–14). The widow of Zarephath runs out of resources, and God sustains her jar of flour and jug of oil (1 Kings 17:14–16). Peter wonders how to pay the temple tax, and Jesus provides the exact coin in a fish's mouth (Matthew 17:27). From Genesis to Revelation, God's provision is precise, purposeful, and personal. Every Need, Not Every Wish Paul echoes this promise in Philippians 4:19: “My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Notice what Paul doesn't say. He doesn't promise every want, preference, or wish list. He promises to meet every need. And that supply doesn't flow from our economy, our income, or our investments—it flows from God's riches. Provision is not sourced in us. It's sourced in Him. Jesus Is Our Provision The truth goes even deeper. Jesus doesn't just provide—He is our provision. In John 6:35, He says, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger.” Peace, then, is not found in financial comfort or problem-free living. It's found in the presence of Christ. When we forget this, we drift into two familiar traps: Fear: What if there isn't enough? Self-reliance: I'll make sure there's enough. Both pull us away from trust. The Source Behind Everything We Have Scripture reminds us that God provides not only resources but the ability to obtain them. Moses tells Israel, “Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18). Our skills, opportunities, work ethic, and even our capacity to earn—all come from Him. When that truth settles in, something shifts. Financial security stops being something we manufacture and becomes something we receive. Trusting God as provider doesn't lead to inactivity. It frees us to work, plan, save, and give with joy. Our efforts become acts of stewardship rather than self-provision. Money becomes a place of spiritual formation rather than fear. That's why Jesus teaches us to pray for “daily bread” (Matthew 6:11). Not because God lacks resources—but because our hearts need daily dependence. Daily bread cultivates daily trust. Where Are You Looking for Provision? Take a moment to ask: Am I looking to my paycheck for security? My savings? My plans for the future? Or the hand of a Father who feeds the birds and calls me His child? Whether you're in a season of abundance or a season of need, Jesus doesn't just promise provision—He gives Himself. And He invites you to trust Him day by day. When we trade fear for faith, striving for surrender, and self-reliance for dependence, we discover the deep joy of resting in a Father who sees and provides. Go Deeper: A Daily Journey of Trust This is the journey explored in Our Ultimate Treasure: A 21-Day Devotional to Faithful Stewardship. It's an invitation to trust God as Provider, Owner, and Treasure in every financial decision. You can pick up a copy—or place a bulk order for your church or small group—at FaithFi.com/Shop. And if you're using the FaithFi app, you'll find excerpts woven into the first 21 daily Rhythms, helping you connect your financial decisions with your spiritual life each day. Start today by establishing a new rhythm—seeing your money not as your security, but as an opportunity to trust the God who provides. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions: I'm 65 and plan to work for another 5 to 6 years. I have $65,000 in a Roth IRA that hasn't been invested. I've heard suggestions ranging from corporate bonds and CDs to an ETF. How should I think about investing this money? I'm 60, with a $700,000 pension lump sum, and am considering a buffered-income variable annuity for a few years before taking withdrawals. Is that a wise move? My husband and I are pastors with small 401(k)s. We're curious about crypto—can we move funds directly from a 401(k) to invest in it, and is that advisable? When financing a car, is it better for a married couple to put the loan in one spouse's name or both—and does that change later in life? Lent is an invitation to slow down. For centuries, followers of Jesus have entered this season by creating space - space to listen, to reflect and to return their attention to God. Jesus invites us into a way of life shaped by simple, faithful practices - prayer, fasting, rest, generosity, Scripture, and love of neighbor.. These practices are not meant to earn God's love. They are rhythms through which we learn to receive it. Rhythms of Grace is designed to walk with you through Lent by offering gentle, intentional practices that shape us over time. Grace meets us not only at the finish line, but along the way.

At Redeemer, we take seriously Jesus' call to "Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Apprenticeship to Jesus is not a one time decision, but a lifelong journey of following Jesus as our master-teacher. Since the goal of the Christian life is maturity in Jesus, apprenticeship must be deep and holistic, transforming the spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and vocational parts of men and women. Apprenticeship to Jesus is learning to practice the way of Jesus in our homes, relationships, neighborhoods, and jobs. We believe Christlikeness is cultivated as we implement spiritual practices, live in community with other believers, and submit to the Word and the Spirit. We agree with Dallas Willard who said, "that the gospel is opposed to earning, not effort." As we move towards cultivating a life of loving God and people, we trust Christ will mature us into his likeness. https://redeemerwichita.church/
PRE-ORDER the upcoming book now: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/the-bookAt the age of nine Luis was diagnosed with ADHD. He never medicated with pharmaceuticals: instead his drugs of choice were coffee, cigarettes, and a stimulating diet. Over the years Luis has learned how to reduce the stimulants needed to keep him engaged. ADD/ADHD is when there is not enough dopamine getting to the brain, usually because of low levels of brain and gut, or vagus nerve inflammation. People in this situation are sometimes referred to as “bored”, “lazy”, or "depressed", as a body collapses in to functional freeze. Camille and Luis discuss the upcoming 6-month ADHD Slow Group starting April 7th. It begins with learning to relate to the ADHD nervous system, overcouplings and judgments about ADHD behaviors, animism of the body, overwhelm, dopamine, relationships and finally cultivating a fascinating life. They will also teach how to leverage balancing foods, and how to consciously use stimulants. The gift of ADHD is a low capacity for bullsh*t, or as Luis calls it RITC, a Radical Inability To Conform. Instead of seeing it as a disorder, we see it as the dopamine deficiency that it is, so that we can learn to relate to in a healthier way. Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness in Matthew 4 reveal that the desert is not a place of abandonment but a space of transformation, where distractions fall away and we learn to hear God's voice more clearly. In seasons of solitude, loss, or Lent, the wilderness invites us to stop numbing our loneliness and instead discover that our deepest hunger is ultimately a thirst for God's presence.
He's back! We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Niels to the microphone once again. You know him as the brilliant photographer behind Capturing Disney Parks, a fellow member of the Insidears family, and the co-host of the Air Magique podcast. He joins us for a conversation we have been wanting to have for a very long time. Niels knows Disneyland Paris like the back of his hand. But he has also spent time at Walt Disney World, and even better, he has a trip to Florida on the horizon. We thought it was the perfect moment to put him on the spot and compare the two resorts from every possible angle. We cover a lot of ground in this one. Expect chat about: The sheer size difference and how it changes your approach to planning a holiday Dining reservations and whether you can still be spontaneous Merchandise hunting and the thrill of the exclusive find Head-to-head attraction comparisons, including the two very different versions of Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean Stage shows, including Festival of the Lion King versus Rhythms of the Pride Lands The paid line-skipping systems and how they stack up But we saved the best for last. Right at the end, we asked Niels a question that moves beyond logistics and into something much more personal. It is a curveball about the soul of each resort and how one factor changes EVERYTHING. His answer was worth waiting for. A huge thank you to our sponsor Easy Go Shuttle for making this episode possible. In this conversation, Bethany and Dr. Don Watenpaugh, PHD, D, ABSM, address some listener questions and dive deeper into the intricate relationship between concussions and sleep. They explore practical strategies for managing sleep when faced with non-traditional schedules, unpack the vicious cycle of insomnia, and discuss the pros and cons of sleep aids. Dr. Watenpaugh provides science-backed advice on everything from racing thoughts at bedtime to the historical concept of biphasic sleep, always tying it back to the critical goal of optimizing brain recovery after a concussion. This episode is packed with actionable insights for anyone struggling with sleep during their concussion recovery.Key Topics DiscussedShift Work & Circadian Rhythms: Advice for those working night shifts or odd hours, emphasizing the critical need for a consistent sleep-wake schedule—even on days off—to avoid "shift work sleep disorder" and support brain healing.Managing a Racing Mind at Bedtime: Differentiating between perseverating on a specific problem (solution: a handwritten "bedtime journal") and having truly random, racing thoughts (solution: encourage the thoughts and "dream yourself to sleep").The Power of Consistency: Re-establishing that a regular wake time, exposure to bright light, and movement/activity first thing in the "morning" (even if it's dark outside) is the most powerful tool for entraining your circadian rhythm.Biphasic ("Two") Sleep: Exploring the historical concept of sleeping in two segments and whether it has any relevance or benefit for modern humans and concussion recovery.Sleep Medications & Concussion: A nuanced discussion on the role of sleep aids, including:The value of "break the glass in case of emergency" use.The often-overlooked danger of fall risk for concussion patients with balance issues. How insomnia can lead to counterproductive behaviors (napping, caffeine overuse) that make the problem worse.Caffeine & Sleep Quality: Why avoiding caffeine after early afternoon is crucial, and clarifying that it degrades the quality of deep (delta) sleep, which is essential for brain recovery. The Role of an Advocate: Reinforcing how critical it is for a friend or family member to support a concussion patient, as the cognitive symptoms can be severe and make self-advocacy difficult.Resources MentionedLiving Concussion Guidelines: Dr. Watenpaugh highly recommends this resource for its evidence-based recommendations.Website: concussionsontario.orgPrevious Conversation: For foundational knowledge on sleep, listen to Part 1 of this discussion.Episode: 122 - A Deep Dive into Sleep with Dr. Don WatenpaughConnect with Dr. Don WatenpaughWebsite: https://www.studiovidenda.com/Bethany Lewis & The Concussion Coach:Free Guide: "5 Best Ways to Support Your Loved One Dealing with a Concussion" - Download at https://theconcussioncoach.com/Concussion Coaching Program: For personalized mentorship in recovery. Send a textWholehearted Storywork Part 4 After you've named the pain, let go of control, and stepped into agency, a question emerges: How do I sustain this?In this final episode of the Wholehearted Storywork series, Amy explores the Guide role, not as someone who has arrived or finished their own story, but as someone who has stayed with their healing long enough to walk alongside others without needing to control the outcome. This conversation reframes what it means to guide and be guided, and why formation is a lifelong journey that requires wisdom, presence, and ongoing support. You'll explore: What a Guide is (and isn't) in wholehearted formation. Why Guides still need guidance and haven't "graduated" from their own healing. How Hero energy becomes sustainable through wisdom over time. The Holy Spirit as the true Guide in your life. Why you don't have to have it all together to walk with othersThis episode isn't about becoming an authority or arriving at spiritual maturity. It's about learning how to stay present with your own story so you can offer that same presence to others. If you've been on this wholehearted journey and are wondering what comes next, or if you've realized that even good changes need support to last, this conversation offers a vision of formation that doesn't end but deepens.Guides don't guide because they're finished; they guide because they've learned how to stay.Support the showRESOURCES FOR YOU: Join the Waitlist for 1:1 Coaching with Amy Wicks https://www.simplywholehearted.com/callamywicks Not sure about your Enneagram Type? Send a textHow the body's internal circadian clocks regulate metabolism, energy balance, and health.TOPICS DISCUSSED:Master circadian clock in the brain: Light detection via retina entrains the suprachiasmatic nucleus, which coordinates body-wide rhythms; intrinsic period slightly deviates from 24 hours, allowing seasonal flexibility.Peripheral clocks in organs: Nearly all cells have autonomous clocks; liver and fat clocks rapidly adjust to feeding time, while brain clock aligns more tightly to light.Clock mutations and metabolism: Disrupting core clock genes (e.g., CLOCK, BMAL1) causes obesity, liver fat accumulation, and impaired insulin secretion without hyperinsulinemia.Timing of food intake: Eating the same high-fat calories during rest phase causes more weight gain than during active phase due to differences in energy dissipation.Modern disruptions (jet lag, shift work, blue light): Create desynchrony between brain and peripheral clocks, contributing to metabolic issues; late-night eating impairs glucose handling.Critical illness & feeding: Tube feeding at night (opposite natural cycle) induces rapid insulin resistance, highlighting mismatch costs.Hormone rhythms: Testosterone, glucocorticoids, and others peak at specific times; misalignment affects stress, reproduction, and metabolism.Weight loss drugs & maintenance: GLP-1 drugs reduce intake effectively, but regain involves neuroendocrine adaptations tied to brain clock pathways.ABOUT THE GUEST: Joseph Bass, MD, PhD is Chief of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Molecular Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Director of the Center for Diabetes and Metabolism, and a leading researcher who pioneered the link between circadian clock genes and metabolic disorders including obesity and diabetes.RELATED EPISODE:M&M 237 | Circadian Biology: Genetics, Behavior, Metabolism, Light, Oxygen & Melatonin | Joseph TakahashiSupport the showHealth Products by M&M Partners: SporesMD: Premium mushrooms products (gourmet mushrooms, nootropics, research). PRE-ORDER the upcoming book now: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/the-bookIn this replay episode, we explore ADHD or RITC -- a Radical Inability To Conform.Luis shares with us his own childhood experiences with ADHD, Tourette's syndrome, and nervous ticks. Often people are prescribed medications to suppress these conditions but Luis questions what would it mean to allow ourselves to relate to them as expressions?Luis begins to reframe the idea of ADHD; pivoting from "I can't focus" to "I have attention for what interests me." He also explains how guilt or shame resulting from an ADHD expression, i.e. a lack of attention to something you "should" be doing, can propel someone into a state of freeze, reinforcing the notion that they "can't" do something. So whether we have ADHD or not, he invites us into a practice to explore the spectrum of tasks we have to do or should do and how can we interweave them with activities that genuinely interest us and rejuvenate us, thus giving us more capacity for doing the "have-to" tasks. You can read more about, and register for, the Embodied ADHD 6-month program, here: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/slow-practice-adhd You can read more about, and register for, Camille's Embodying My Cycles & Rhythms 6-month group here: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/cycles-and-rhythms-slow-group You can register for the FREE Food Therapy session here: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/events/recover-from-burnout----You can learn more on the website: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/ You can follow Luis on Instagram @holistic.life.navigationQuestions?
