In this episode of Politics on the Prairies, I sit down (virtually) with Winnipeg based fiction writer Alex Passey to review the viral video Plandemic. We start by discussing different bad beliefs each of us once held, despite the greater community of experts contradicting those beliefs. We discuss what made Alex switch from a Truther to Skeptic and review some of the glaring holes in the arguments presented. We wrap up with a review of what we consider to be the top five most awkward claims made in the documentary. As always, the music is by Hot Lettuce. In this episode I get to know Naomi Hunter, the leader of the Saskatchewan Green Party. As someone constantly volunteering and working to enrich her community, Naomi found herself turning to politicians when she would inevitably run into red tape. Ultimately Naomi decided she would be able to get more done were she in a position to take direct action. Thus she entered the world of politics and the rest is history. Join me in this fantastic interview with a woman on a mission to change the political landscape of Saskatchewan. Cheers! Ryan
Ever consider running for Mayor? It turns out, you should work on city council first. Ever wanted to affect change in your community? There might be a committee for that. Join me in interviewing Greg Linnen, as this husband, father and all around good guy gives us the scoop on municipal politics. Notes: Wadena is located in Eastern Saskatchewan, approximately 207 km's north of Regina. Music by Hot Lettuce.
Mark is a scientist. One of the people that everyone says we should listen to, but don't often have access to. Well, today you have no excuse. I've brought you an expert, so that you can hear it for yourself. Climate change is absolutely real and humans are absolutely accelerating it. We can see the negative impacts of climate change all over the world, most notably in Australia, India, and China. As global average temperatures increase, forest fires become commonplace, destroying the trees we rely on for oxygen and compounding the negative affects. One of many valuable things Mark explains during this episode, is how Canada's carbon tax works. A must listen for anyone with questions. Cheers and enjoy the podcast! Ryan
I sit down with the Chief Official Agent of the Saskatchewan Green Party, Dave Abbey. Dave has been involved in politics his entire life. Growing up in Ottawa, Dave rose awareness for world hunger on parliament hill and protested the Vietnam War before heading West and joining the NDP; later the Green Party. Enjoy this deep dive with a true legend of Canadian politics. Cheers, Ryan
A former Calgary resident and business owner describes what life was like during the oil boom in Alberta, with Ralph Klein as Mayor, and later Premier. We discuss the 86' olympics, the Calgary stampede, and blowing up hospitals. Love him or hate him, Ralph was elected time and time again, so he must have been doing something right. Music by "Hot Lettuce".
