This week on Pop Culture Pastor, Dave and Cody set out in search of eternal youth and… mostly find studio notes and safe choices. In our full review of Fountain of Youth, we dive into Guy Ritchie's lightest touch yet, a charming John Krasinski, and a MacGuffin so undercooked it might still be thawing. Is it fun? Sometimes. Is it deep? Not especially. But hey, there's a moped chase and some ancient Christian imagery just vague enough to avoid offending anyone. Also in this episode:Michael Bay is making a Skibidi Toilet movie. Welcome back ragers to the best movie review podcast on the planet. The rage rolls on from the Film Rage Studio. This week the Film Rage Crew review a trio of films. First up the film that Jim has been giddy with anticipation and Bryce has been dreading, Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning. Then another Disney's, we have no original ideas so lets turn one of our animated properties into a live action film, Lilo and Stitch. And then finally a film about friendship called Friendship. Then in Rage or Dare Jim and Bryce were forced to watch The Day the Earth Stood Still. Not the excellent original from 1951 but the 2008 Keanu Reeves version. Good luck with that boys! This week, the girlies tackle rage bait: the content that's engineered to make you mad and keep you scrolling. From gutting historic homes to incendiary Republican rhetoric, they explore how anger became a content strategy and why we keep falling for it. They trace the long history of provocation, once a way to challenge power and now just another feature of your FYP, breaking down how rage bait works, who benefits from it, and why nothing feels shocking anymore. Digressions include the beauty of riding a train, knowing conservative content creators in real life, and the age-old question: does being a woman count as rage bait? We're going on tour!!!! Reviews of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, Lilo & Stitch, The Last Rodeo, Mongrels, Jane Austen Wrecked My Life, Fear Street: Prom Queen, Fountain of Youth and more. Hilarity ensues.
This week, Dave and Megan talk about FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH (2:47), Guy Ritchie's incredibly derivative and frustrating adventure film, starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as siblings on a globe-trotting trek for (you guessed it) the mythical Fountain of Youth. Then, we all (Evan, Dave, and Megan) discuss FEAR STREET: PROM QUEEN (29:21), a slasher horror film and the latest entry in the franchise based on the R.L. Stine novel. Directed by Matt Palmer and starring India Fowler, Suzanna Son, and Fina Strazza, it follows high school prom queen finalists dying one by one. One of us had a lot of fun, but two of us were disappointed. Yet we all agree on some of the good performances and the excellent 80s soundtrack. And on this week's Patreon bonus episode, we cover the winner of our sci-fi horror poll: James Ward Byrkit's 2013 film, COHERENCE!

“The greatest polluting element in the earth's environment is the proliferation of electromagnetic fields. I consider that to be a far greater threat on a global scale than warming, or the increase of chemical elements in the environment.” Welcome back to another episode of Made You Think! In this episode, we're diving into The Body Electric by Robert O. Becker, a fascinating read on how electricity flows through the body and the ways it might influence healing, health, and even consciousness. Becker, a pioneer in bioelectricity, lays out connections between injury recovery, electromagnetic fields, and the body's natural currents. We cover a wide range of topics including: The link between magnetic storms and spikes in psychiatric admissions How the body's healing process relies on electric signals Diet, metabolism, and avoiding the “swamp” Modern concerns about EMF exposure from wifi, Bluetooth, and power lines The crossover between bioelectricity and mitochondrial theory And much more. Please enjoy, and make sure to follow Nat, Neil, and Adil on Twitter and share your thoughts on the episode. Nat, Neil, and Adil catch up and share some recent long reads that delivered a good payoff. (4:11) Today's discussion is on The Body Electric by Robert O. Becker, a deep dive into the body's electrical systems and what they mean for healing, health, and human potential. (8:59) Psychiatric admissions spike after magnetic storms... why is that? And how injuries can disrupt your body's electrical current, slowing down the healing process. (15:05) We explore the overlap between Becker's ideas and theories on mitochondrial efficiency, including connections to Ray Peat's metabolic philosophies. (20:57) Energy flow, metabolism, and how different diets affect the body's ability to generate and use energy. (25:25) Why you should avoid the “swamp”. With all the conflicting diet advice out there, how do we know what to eat? (28:50) Mitochondria and the electrical nature of cells. While Becker doesn't directly mention mitochondria, modern science connects the dots. (33:05) Neil shares his findings from using an EMF meter around the house. We talk about everyday EMF exposure and what to avoid. (37:49) What does Deep Research have to say about some of the claims in the book? (43:37) Living near high-voltage power lines, earbuds, and lifestyle changes we've made (or not made) since reading the book. (48:55) Bluetooth vs. wifi: Is one worse than the other in terms of EMF exposure? (52:07) Nat, Neil, and Adil wrap up the episode with chats about what book is next on the podcast. I propose that Mormon demonstrates at least a couple of times how Nephi's prophecy about war and the fountain of filthy water are connected. It seems the river Sidon actually becomes the fountain and why it is filthy is a little morbid but I think Mormon saw this connection and wrote it into the record.

Our final sin, as is likely expected, is Lust. However, it is tied to a great blessing, sex, given to us by God to be enjoyed within marriage, that we want to take this topic in two parts: in the first, explaining why sex and sexuality is good in its intended place; and in the second, explaining how lust twists the beautiful good of intimacy that was given to us.
