Adam, Ryan and Conor, 3 lads in a room with mics and opinions on football. We will be talking everything Premier League, Irish football, Champions league and whatever is on the mind of the people.
Arteta has had a tough time of it over the last few weeks from fans and pundits alike, and we have been trying to look at some of the positives for him. However, it didnt go well. We also look at the other games last weekend. A certain member of PostingUp even went as far to say a certain English manager is doing somewhat of a good job. With Ireland's World Cup qualifying group decided and the last 16 of the Champions League and the last 32 of the Europa League lined up there is much to discuss. And of course the QuizPenos leader (Conor) sets a goal related topic for todays shootout.
Level 5 restrictions have been lifted and we are back in the shed talking about football. It has been a long time in footballing terms so we revise our opinions from a few weeks ago to see if any u-turns have been made. The ramble goes from Jose to Liverpool to the top four to.. yes, VAR. And we considered the first season of QuizPenos over with Adam being victorious, so season 2 gets underway with Ryan vs Conor. Hope you enjoy and thanks for the support!
Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool. Man United 1-6 Spurs. Ireland losing in a penelty shootout. Everton are top of the league. And Serge Aurier turned into prime Cafu for 90 minutes. Just a few of pieces of news from the footballing world since the last time a podcast was recorded. We discuss how bad United and Liverpool were in a record breaking day for both clubs as well as how good Spurs and the Villians were on the day. Ireland were the better team in a game for the first time in a very long time, which made it all the harder to accept our Euro2020 qualification exit at the hands of an ailing Slovakian squad. How bright is the future under Stephen Kenny and how should we feel after 3 games without a win? And as always we have another installment of Quiz Penos. Cheers for the support and enjoy!
This week we have a look at the first weekend of the 2020/21 Premier League season. We talk about who impressed and who fell short of the expectations. The 18th of September, 2020. This day will mean different things to differemt sets of fans. Bale's return for Spurs fans, Thiago's arrival for Liverpool fans and utter discontent for the club that was linked with both big names. Will City sign anyone else before the end of the transfer window? And, hairlines aside, are Fulham an insult to the high standard of the Premier League? We also have a very Bavarian edition of Quiz Penos.
This week we look into the future and predict the teams who will be on flames or fall by the wayside. Do Liverpool have enough to make it back to back titles or will Pep and City slow the Reds momentum? Chelsea have spent big in the transfer window bringing in the top German talent, but have they strengthened in the right areas? How will the promoted teams fare? And the question on everyones lips, who decides the positions players are assigned on Fantasy Football? We also have the latest edition of Quiz Penos where we look at some of the greatest players ever. Thanks for the support and enjoy the footy.
With Stephen Kenny's first two games as Ireland senior manager on the horizon, we take a look at the 23 man squad he has picked for their Nations League games vs Bulgaria and Finland. We also see if there are any 'interesting' exclusions from the squad and how they might set up again Bulgaria on Thursday. There is talk about Kenny's role as a coach and a reformer, Barcelona's Mexit strategy, the Slabgate scandal and Irish Englishness vs English Irishness. There is also another instalment of Quiz Penos. Thanks for the continued support!
This week we take a look at the players eligible to play for the Irish National Team that are based in the Premier League and elsewhere and how they might fit into Stephen Kenny's new look Irish setup. I say 'eligible for Ireland' rather than 'Irish' for reasons that will become clear. We talk about players that could play under Kenny's guidence, from the staples of the Irish defence to what could be a wealth of talent in attacking areas in years to come. There are also anecdotes about past players, talk about traitors and this weeks installment of Quiz Penos. There was a slight misunderstanding with the question but the answers are coming off the Premier League offical website. Cheers and enjoy.
This weeks episode of the PostingUp podcast we look at the current Europa League and Champions League standings and how we think it will pan it. Bayern/Barca and City/Lyon still have to be decided at time of recording. We contemplate the new structures of the competitions and what to do going forward. We also look forward to 'All Or Nothing' with the cast of Spurs as well as this weeks mid table encounter of Quiz Penos. Thanks for the support and we hope you enjoy!
posting up podcast end of season awards, player of the year, young player of the year. manager of the year, moment of the year and shock of the year, aswell as some heated debate, enjoy the awards
The season has ended the latest it ever has. Watford had 4 different managers. Goal line technology didn't work for the first time ever and kept Aston Villa up. Liverpool won the league. And Frank Lampard is a hypocrite. Brighton are a 'good' 15th? Newcastle don't get paid. what does relegation mean for bournmouth and watford, how accurate were our preseason predictions. all that and more on this episode of the PostingUp podcast.
After months of silence, the three wise enough men have returned with a football podcast for you good people. The lack of audio equiptment and social distancing meant we had to take a break. So what do we talk about after this extended break from football shite talk? Absolutely everything and anything football related. Were Norwich relegated properly? Are Spurs doing an Arsenal ? Henderson or Gerrard? Will Bielsa get to torment Lampard next year? How far can United go with Ole at the wheel? And most importantly, who did a Sean St. Ledger for Cameroon in 2014? Thanks to anyone who took the time to listen to this ramble and we will be back with more podcasts very soon. Requests are always welcome.
This episode takes a look at the players who made 10 or fewer Caps for the senior Irish team. We examine players who were unfortunate or lucky to get to represent Ireland a handful of times over the last two decades. For every Shay Given and Robbie Keane, there are a number of failed understudies who just couldn't do enough to establish themselves as a near permanent fixture in the team. From players who have collected a wealth of Aer Lingus gold card points from traveling with Irish squads all around the world, to the players who vanished into obscurity as mysteriously as the appeared in the Irish squad. So have a listen to the Irish team that could have been, but for everyones sake didn't. (If you have some suggestions for this team remember to comment them on our socials)
This podcast we remember those players who were completely forgetable and those players live long in the memory, for the wrong reasons. We each have an XI of players who didn't live up to their reputation, price tag or past experience in similar situations. There is a bit of dispute, as usual, but we have come up with a truely disappointing team. You can decide the final position. Enjoy lads and ladies.
Episode 10 signals a change of direction for the PostingUp podcast. A change which seems us focus more on specific topics and deep dives instead of weekly roundups. The first episode of this chapter is a debate around the premier league team of the decade. we each brought our respective teams to the table and debated the pros and cons of each player at length. eventually we settled on a definitive Premier League team of the decade. some shock inclusins and exclusions make for what we feel to be an intresting dicussion and listen, so sit back, relax and enjoy
were back with the 9th instalment of the posting up podcast. today we asses the performances of the traditional top 6. we dig deep to try and explain what is different this year for manchester city and how liverpool seem to keep winning. we try to define what succes would look like for jose mourinho at tottenham and ponder the question, are Arsenal in a relegation scrap? we finish with a word on everton, newcastle crystal palace and euro 2020 sit back, relax and enjoy the posting up podcast
PostingUp Podcast: Episode 8: Improving Ireland, Ireland's Young Youth, Poch Pushed Out, Mourinho Moved In. This weeks later episode see us talk about Ireland's one all draw with Denmark, Steven Kenny's u21 Ireland team beat Sweden u21 convincingly 4-1, and the big news of the week; Mauricio Pochettino being sacked by Spurs. And his replacement... its Jose Mourinho!! Ireland battled well and dominated a poor Denmark team in the stalemate in the Aviva on Monday evening. Was our good performance due to our most familiar rivals being well below par, or did Ireland in fact cause this Danish team to look as rudderless as it did? Either way, if you had offered a play off against Slovakia away in March to Mick McCarthy at the outset if this campaign, we think you would have a hand less. 'Kenny's Kids' were convincing winners against the 2nd seeded team in the group the following night. Sweden took the lead with a great goal but Ireland's second half response was quite simply breathtaking. Looking at the players who played on Tuesday who were mostly eligible for the u19s, should we be looking at the u21 age restriction as a limit rather than a requirement. Pochettino was relived of his duties as Spurs manager on Tuesday evening, to dismay of most of the football world. Spurs knew how to cushion this blow; hire 2 time Chelsea and ex Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho. Is this a good move for Spurs, or is this a backwards step? We talk all this plus have a look at the weekend fixtures on this weeks podcast.
Its an international week, so lets talk about most things except the international football! With 12 games gone in the Premier League we take a look at the standing of the big 6, plus a few surprise teams. We pinpoint the key to the current good form and the pitfalls that may be ahead for teams on a high and the cause of angst and potentially the silver linings in the grey clouds of the struggling big boys. Ireland's 3-1 win vs the 'All Whites' on Thursday evening has given us a lot to talk about, especially with some players putting in good performances. And, most likely, cause for Irish fans to be up in arms about the reluctance to include them in Mondays 'want-to-win' game against our newly found nemesis Denmark. We talk willing bench warmers, transfer torture, Kenny's kids (again) and the ideal World Cup Qualification group that is 100% about destination and not footballing ability. Thanks for the support, we appreciate your kindness!
This week on the PostingUp podcast we've gone a bit left field. It was a late recording so we decided to make an evening of it and indulge in some bottles of beer. Crazy right !? This led to us not sticking to script and not watching the time and has left us with this large podcast. We have a look forward to the game of the weekend; Liverpool vs Manchester City. This game has become one of the biggest rivalries in the Premier League over the last few years and with City's defensive frailties, Liverpool's slightly shakier defence and both teams never say die attitude it's bound to be a cracker! We also have a look at some of the other games this weekend, discuss the Ireland squad to play Denmark and New Zealand, propose a united Ireland within footballing circles and a creepy story about the evergreen Fabio Quagliarella and his obsessive fans. Thanks for the support as always and a HUGE thank you to anyone who finishes this podcast. And Jeffery Epstein did not kill himself.
Episode 5 of the PostingUp podcast sees the lads discuss the previous weeks football and look ahead to this weeks football. This is a huge week for both Everton and Spurs, who meet at Goodison Park. Will Spurs be the nail in the coffin of Marco Silva's Everton career or will the blue side of Merseyside inflict more pain on Poch. Granit Xhaka hasn't been able to stay out of our minds since the he became the star of our podcast. However, Arsenal fans are clearly not impressed with him or his antics as he was substituted last week and he wasn't happy with the Arsenal fans treatment of him in a never ending cycle of discontent. We talk about the FAI cup final, the thriller in Merseyside mid week, bad bets, bets that could have been and on a serious note the disgraceful treatment of former Derby captain Richard Keogh. Thanks again for the support. #YupAriana
PostingUp Podcast: Episode 4: This weeks podcast sees Adam, Ryan and Conor discuss the football in the past seven days including the 'Red Rivalry'. Ole seemed to pull off a tactical masterclass against Jurgan Klopp's men, but was there someone in his ear during the week? Fantasy football is a cruel mistress, but there is someone who knows just how to treat her and he is leading everyone in fantasy football. The game of the weekend, among a few crackers, is Liverpool hosting Spurs. The lads do a combined 11 with a few disagreements. Who's is in your team? Is it half and half no veg ? All of that plus a preview to this weekends football, as well as this weeks Xhaka Acca.
This week we talk about the position Ireland are in after their 2-0 loss to Switzerland in damp Geneva. Mick McCarthy says he would have take the position Ireland are in now at the beginning of the group, and can you disagree? We also talk about the man who ignited the mini revival against the Swiss, the man who refuses respects opposition human beings whilst wearing the Green jersey; Glenn Whelan. He is the name on everyone's lips, isnt he? Manchester United host Liverpool in the most high profile game of the weekend in the Premier League. United go into the game with Paul Pogba and David De Gea out through injury. Or do they? We have a look at the rest of the games on the weekend and introduce everyone to the podcasts love child, The Xhaka Acca. What is this cryptic conundrum you ask. All is explained on the pod.
The October international break has ended so we have decided to evaluate the performances of the big 6 so far and their prospects for the future. we also discuss top 4 predictions as well as what teams are up for relegation.
Posting Up Podcast: Episode #1 Adam, Ryan and Conor (aka the Posting Up Podcast) discuss all things Irish football in the fallout of Ireland's dismal performance against Georgia in Tbilisi. We question Mick McCarthy's motives and ambition, and have a look at the young players coming through that will follow Stephen Kenny to the senior team. Are the Irish faithful chanting 'McCarthy out'? Which u21 starlet will shine brightest in the years to come? Who was your favourite Irish big man to lead the line in his 15 minutes of international fame ? All will be discussed on this podcast. Listeners will be warned the audio may be a bit harsh at times on earphones but this will be a temporary constraint until we find a permanent place to record the podcast. So yeah, Cheers guys!
