Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a horribly familiar defeat to Nottingham Forest. We discuss failing to finish AGAIN - although Chelsea played ok with creative intent, forward momentum, movement which is a change from last season, and Forest defended very well. Sterling was relatively poor and Gusto needs to learn how to cross; Jackson had a poor game but will get better or is he the new Salomon Kalou? We look at Pochettino's selection - he is playing 4 at the back not 3, but is Colwill a left back and is Chilwell a winger? Cole Palmer on his debut and Madueke looked good; Mudryk has a way to go yet; Enzo class and Caicedo improving. In part two we discuss what's the hate with Silva about? Would Pochettino consider a change in formation and selection – Sanchez: Chilwell, Silva, Disasi, Gusto/James: Enzo, Moises; Sterling, Palmer/Gallagher, Madueke; Jackson? With an average age of squad at 22.5 years the team has no experience at this level and it shows and will take time. With £1bn spent and no striker or creative midfielder and no tried and tested players is it a surprise we still find it hard to score? And we review the Transfer window - why are Clearlake going with youth rather than experience? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Anything but a win...and it's crisis talks already? The Athletic's Chelsea experts Dom Fifield and Liam Twomey are alongside Matt Davies-Adams to chew over the latest Blues news. Things get *a little bit heated* as we go through yet another transfer round up - including why Lewis Hall has been allowed to leave, why the can't shift Hudson-Odoi or Lukaku, and why they seem intent on spending more and more and more money. We've got bonus content - with a chance to hear a sneak peak of a certain Mauricio Pochettino in conversation with Alan Shearer! You can read the full interview on The Athletic from Friday. Then we look ahead to the visit of Luton Town on Friday night - before finishing things off with the first Fifield v Twomey quiz of the new season... We'll be back on Monday to reflect on events under the lights at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea have hopefully (surely?!) picked up their first three points of the season. Pochettino has a lot of work to do this season, as stockpile of players couldn't stop Chelsea from succumbing to a 3-1 defeat to Conference League champions West Ham United! Enzo missed a penalty, Caicedo conceded a penalty and James Ward-Prowse got two assists. This is turning out to be a blockbuster season already! The boys also discuss United's limp loss to Spurs, their appalling handling of the Mason Greenwood situation, and the opposite fates of the two Merseyside clubs. UPDATE: Manchester United annouced that they are NOT bringing Mason Greenwood back to the first team, and that they will look to facilitate a sale/mutual termination of the contract. We believe this was the right decision eventually, but the process to come to this decision and the supposed U-Turn from their original decision to bring him back should be called out. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back on muggy 3-1 defeat away to West Ham.In part one we discuss another poor start, a great goal by Chukwuemeka and a poor penalty from Enzo, which arguably turned the match. Why didn't Jackson take it? And then a comedy of errors from Disasi and Colwill led to an Antonio scorcher which turned it in West Ham's favour. In part two we discuss whether Mudryk is being weighed down by expectations. Sterling gets the plaudits for a decent performance. Jackson impressed again but was out muscled by two giants, on his own and crowded out. Caicedo probably shouldn't have come on and unsurprisingly looked at sea and off the pace - not his fault. Pochettino needs to sort his system out and play the formation that best suits the players he has available. West Ham away was a reality check and it's going to take time to gel this team. Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd (from his hospital bed!), Clayton Beerman and Dayne Whittle to review the last match of the season against Newcastle. And breathe. Yes, Chelsea's worst season for nearly 30 years is finally consigned to the dustbin where it belongs. We look back at the last match against Newcastle, where Chelsea did ok against a Newcastle side clearly sipping cocktails on the beach. The usual profligacy in front of goal by Chelsea; why break the cycle eh lads? Of more interest was who might be playing their last game? Azpi with a superb banner to honour him? Loftus-Cheek who gave the "I'm off" clap to all four stands in the ground? Mason Mount who looked tearful in the lap of appreciation. We know Frank is off and he got a well deserved warm send off. But it's now "Hello, hello, Pochettino; Pochettino!" as our new manager has been announced. Interestingly one of his first decisions may have been to refuse to put an offer in on Felix who is set to return to Atletico Madrid. We wrap up part one with a chat about a fantastic evening at the 1983/84 re-union at Under the Bridge on Saturday night. In part two we welcome back Garry Hayes and Ceri Levy from The Chels to talk about the next installment of their superb documentary podcast series on Chelsea from the Hoddle era to Munich, called The Blueprint. Musa and Ryan focus their attention on Germany this week, beginning with Bayern's men securing their 11th straight Bundesliga in a row with a win in Köln while Dortmund drew 2-2 at home to Mainz (02:44). They discuss Dortmund freezing at the Westfalenstadion, the shock felt around the league, and the aftermath of an eventful season for Bayern that cost Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic their respective jobs as CEO and sporting director. They then heap all the praise they can on Urs Fischer for guiding Union Berlin to the Champions League (32:04), as well as Christian Streich, whose Freiburg side narrowly missed out. After all that, they touch on Bayern also securing the Frauen-Bundesliga (40:22) before wrapping up a dramatic day in the 2. Bundesliga, where Hamburg missed out again on automatic promotion (42:07), as Heidenheim scored two in stoppage time to win the second tier and join the already-promoted Darmstadt in the top flight. They finally wrap up with some other stuff around Europe (48:33), including Mauricio Pochettino's confirmation as the new Chelsea head coach and Luciano Spalletti leaving Napoli.
