European Nights returns as Rog and Rory Smith break down a dramatic week across the Champions League and Europa League. They begin with Real Madrid's commanding first-leg win over Manchester City, where Federico Valverde's stunning hat trick exposed Pep Guardiola's bold tactical gamble. Then attention turns to Premier League clubs after a bruising round of results raised questions about England's success in Europe, including brutal nights for Tottenham goalkeeper Antonín Kinský and Chelsea's Filip Jörgensen. The two then look ahead to the decisive second legs across the continent. Plus, the remarkable rise of Bodo/Glimt and one Europa League tie to watch.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Broadcaster Russ Williams, Billie T and Luke as a dramatic late goal from Richarlison gave us a huge morale-boosting draw at Anfield as we ended a six-match losing run against Liverpool on Sunday. We discuss what the result now means for Igor Tudor's future, on the back of beforehand four straight defeats and suggestions Tottenham Hotspur were looking to make a managerial change before the game. Has the Croatian's showed enough in that draw at Liverpool to warrant more time. We also debate where the result leaves us in the battle to avoid relegation, and how pivotal Richarlison will be during the run-in. Tottenham need to translate that fight and desire demonstrated at Anfield into what is a true relegation six-pointer next Sunday against Nottingham Forest. Forest is the biggest game Tottenham have played since the Europa League final last season, Billie T also outlines the plan for the Forest game beforehand and how supporters can get behind the team pre-game. A third consecutive Premier League defeat. Eight league games left. And a set of questions about structure, recruitment and ambition that will not wait until the summer.Villa's 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford was not a shock. It was, as this podcast noted immediately, an expected result, an expected performance... and an expected xG. What makes it significant is the context and manner of it - three consecutive league defeats, a Champions League place that is now being held by inertia rather than form, and a set of structural problems that are becoming harder to attribute to bad luck.In this episode, the show dissects the latest misery inducing trip to Old Trafford, including the moment that may have defined Villa's entire season. Then the post-mortem episodes broadens out into the harder questions about what has gone wrong, whose responsibility it is to fix it, and whether there is still time. The structure versus creation argument reaches crunch time. It's Lille in the Europa League second leg next, but then relegation threatened West Ham and Forest back-to-back mean it's do or die time.UTVListen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.Become a MOMS Member for ad-free & extra shows - MOMS MembershipJoin the show's listener Facebook group The Mad Few.Credits:David Michael - @myoldmansaid | Chris Budd - @BUDD_music / Phillip Shaw - @prsgameThis Podcast has been created and uploaded by My Old Man Said. France Has Fallen. Now for Old Trafford.Villa win 1-0 in Lille to take control of the Europa League tie — but the harder test arrives Sunday. In this double-header episode, the show analyses Villa's controlled but unconvincing win in France — the goal, the Watkins miss that should have killed the tie, and the moment John McGinn walked off the bench and immediately reminded everyone what Villa have been missing. Then it's forward to Sunday and a trip to Old Trafford, where the show sets out exactly why this fixture matters beyond three points, and why, despite United's impressive form under Carrick, this may be the moment Villa's season turns.Plus the MOMS panel prediction for Old Trafford, and a Tim Sherwood comparison that will not be retracted.UTVCheck out the best current deals on Aston Villa MerchandiseBecome a MOMS Member for ad-free & extra shows - MOMS MembershipJoin the show's listener Facebook group The Mad Few.Credits:David Michael - @myoldmansaid | Chris Budd - @BUDD_music / Phillip Shaw - @prsgameThis Podcast has been created and uploaded by My Old Man Said.
Aston Villa return to Premier League action with a trip to Old Trafford to face an in-form Manchester United side. Dan Rolinson and Mat Kendrick shift their attention from the Europa League to preview the game.
Nottingham Forest face Fulham in the Premier League in a game they can ill-afford to lose if they are to avoid relegation. Forest go into the game with fans fed up after the Europa League defeat to FC Midtjylland with calls for Ola Aina to be dropped after his poor defending cost a goal. Igor Jesus was also poor, while there has even been criticism of Omari Hutchinson for saying his face cream ran in heavy second half rain. Matt Davies is joined by Dan Cook, Emily Anderson and Mikey Clarke to preview the match in full. #nffc #nottinghamforest

To make matters worse, they lost Jair Cunha to injury early in the game. Aston Villa's Europa League last sixteen first leg against Lille on Thursday arrives at a critical moment in the season. With Villa sitting seventeenth in the Premier League form table over the last six games, the show discusses whether the Europa League now represents the most realistic route back to the Champions League, and whether the Lille tie can do for this season what the Bologna win did back in October. The show discusses the injury latest, with McGinn edging closer to a return, the squad selection dilemma for Thursday given the trip to Old Trafford follows days later, and whether Emery should rotate or go strong in France. Also discussed: Opta's supercomputer gives Villa an 80% chance of finishing top four, while the Bud 3000 is considerably less optimistic. The Tammy Abraham situation and Emery's Clockwork Orange-style process. Filipe Luís's remarkable and abruptly ended reign at Flamengo, and what it has in common with Ron Saunders. KSI's stake in Dagenham and Redbridge. The FIFA registration block on Brian Maggio. Griffin Warner talks betting for Wednesday Griffin Warner's episode 19 of What I Bet, dated March 4, 2026, covered European soccer and a large Wednesday college basketball slate, ending with a best bet and a Pregame.com promo code. In England, he previewed Aston Villa versus Chelsea as a pick'em with Chelsea juiced and a 2.75 total shaded slightly to the over, saying Villa's defensive home profile makes them attractive when priced as an underdog and that he was waiting for a move to a quarter-goal dog before likely backing them. For Brighton versus Arsenal, he cited Brighton as three-quarter-goal home underdogs with Arsenal carrying the juice, and a 2.5 total priced heavily to the under, adding that he would need plus one to consider Brighton and that he generally leans under 2.5 in Arsenal matches. Fulham versus West Ham was listed with Fulham a half-goal favorite and the away side taking the juice, with a 2.75 total near even but slightly toward the under; he leaned West Ham and also leaned under while noting he would prefer a three. Manchester City versus Nottingham Forest had City as one-and-a-quarter goal favorites and a total of three heavily juiced to the under, and Warner raised concerns about Forest's managerial changes and a rest disadvantage after Europa League action. Newcastle versus Manchester United was described as essentially a pick'em that had moved toward United, with a total of three heavily juiced to the over; he questioned United as a road favorite at St. James' Park and said he was waiting for Newcastle to reach a quarter-goal underdog, expecting to play that and likely the pick'em as well. In Spain's Copa del Rey second leg, he noted Real Sociedad hosting Athletic Club Bilbao with a 1-0 aggregate edge, describing the two-leg format and listing Sociedad as quarter-goal favorites with a 2.25 total slightly to the over, while he found under 2.25 interesting. In Italy's Coppa Italia, he discussed Lazio as quarter-goal home underdogs to Atalanta in a first leg with a 2.25 total juiced heavily to the under, leaning to a conservative game state, Lazio plus a quarter, and the under, while also citing advance prices of Lazio plus 2.31 and Atalanta minus 3.15 to advance. In France's Coupe de France, he covered Lorient versus Nice and Marseille versus Toulouse, noting Toulouse interest if the line reached a full goal. He then ran through college basketball including Creighton at Butler, Minnesota at Indiana, Texas at Arkansas, Providence versus Marquette, Duquesne at Rhode Island, California at Georgia Tech, Ohio State at Penn State, Villanova at DePaul, Purdue at Northwestern, and Baylor at Houston, while repeatedly stressing the importance of checking venues for tournament games. He gave the promo code FREETHROW20 for 20% off at Pregame.com through March 8, and closed with his best bet: SMU minus one-and-a-half at home to Miami, Florida. Learn more about your ad choices.

Nottingham Forest lost 2-1 on the night Fenerbahce in the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie, winning the tie 4-2 on aggregate. It was a poor performance from the Reds against a Fenerbahce decimated by injuries and suspension having named an 18 man squad with three goalkeepers included. Forest fell two goals behind at the City Ground, needed a Callum Hudson-Odoi goal to settle nerves on a night when senior players were sloppy and squad players again failed to impress. Matt Davies is joined by Chris Aylmer and former Reds midfielder Sam Collins from 10pm #nffc #nottinghamforest
