The Revivanary podcast is a collection of relevant, contemporary teaching with the purpose of discussing and clarifying Biblical issues that many have questions about. While always focused on maintaining the seriousness of the subject, the heaviness of th
We discuss Joseph, and how the Lord worked things out in Joseph's life over time
Ephesians 2:8-10 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
"Citizenship" of heaven is about being, not doing. We often get sidetracked in how we appear to others instead of staying focused on allowing God to use us and produce the change within us that He desires and that only He can produce in His time.
What does Paul mean in Philippians 3 when he says that a believer's citizenship is in heaven? How should a believer conduct themselves in the world? We discuss this and more.
What happens when we die? Today we begin a series of podcast aimed at answering questions about what happens after death.
On today's podcast we discuss the reason David chose to ride on a mule, and why he orders that his son Solomon be brought into town for his coronation riding on a mule. A mule is a hybrid of a horse and a donkey. On this podcast we explain what each animal represents and how that ties into Jesus.
Revelation Study 3/5/2023 Revelation 11:18 - "Raged"
John 14:15 - "If you love me, keep my commandments" In today's message we discuss whether this is a command or a request. Often this verse is taken out of context and used as a weapon to control and manipulate behavior. Is it possible that it is an invitation from a loving Father delivered by a loving brother to avoid the snare of the enemy and be able to experience the peace that only God can provide through His Word?
How consistent are you in the study of God's Word? On today's podcast we discuss the value of God's Word to the believer, and the importance of "attending", "listening", and "applying" the Word.
In Ephesians 6:17 Paul refers to the Word of God as a "sword". It is the only offensive weapon listed in the armor he details. God did not intend for us to remain crouched in a corner, hiding from every rumor of trouble. He also does not want us to take out a carnal weapon and fight our battles through natural means. In today's message we discuss the Word of God being the weapon that fights our real battle, the spiritual battel that takes place in our minds daily. David did not win a victory when he slung the stone and struck Goliath, he won the victory when he determined to obey the Word of the Lord and follow through with His command.
On today's podcast we discuss the critic. Some folks feel like it is there responsibility, their calling within the body of Christ to find fault with everything that happens. Sometimes without them realizing it, they may very well be criticizing the work of God because they can't see His hand at work since it doesn't line up with their opinion of how it should be done. Today we talk about the local church body, the role of the pastor in the local church body, the Asbury revival, and more.
In John 1:1 we are told "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". In today's message we discuss these three statements, focusing especially on the phrase "the Word was with God". The word with can be translated as "toward", therefor John is saying the Word was face to face with God. Jesus is the Word, so the idea here is that Jesus was a mirror image of the character of the Father. We discuss the character of God, His name, as defined in Exodus 34:6. Can the same be said of us as believers?
In 2 Timothy 3:1-7, Paul tells Timothy to beware of those who hold a "form of godliness". On today's podcast we discuss what Paul meant by that and whether his teaching is still applicable to the Church today.
In this study we cover the Kingdom of Christ, the one thousand year reign of Jesus on the Earth. We will outline the timeline leading up to, during, and after the Millennial Reign of Christ, the character of His Kingdom, and also do a thorough explanation of the First and Second Resurrections, ie the resurrection to life and the resurrection to death.
In Hosea 4:1, God tells His people through Hosea the prophet that he has a problem with them. Specifically that there are three things missing; truth, mercy, and knowledge of God. To know God is to know His character. In today's message we discuss just what the character of God is and why God is upset with the lack of truth, mercy, and knowledge of Him.
What is the character of God? We are given an clear image throughout scripture of His character on display in the lives of His people, namely in the profession that permeates their resumes...Shepherd. To love the sheep, to feed the sheep, to defend the sheep, to lay down your life for the sheep; all of these portray the character of God, and these same traits will be found in His children. The clear distinction between Adonijah and his father David is astounding. One thought only of himself, the other thought of the sheep. Which one best exemplifies the character of God? The shepherd.
What does repentance mean? On today's podcast we discuss how repentance is not a one time event, but rather a continual process in the life of a believer. None of us are perfect after salvation, we are always being corrected in some way. It is not the will of God that we live in a constant state of fear and guilt, instead the Holy Spirit is daily helping us to become aware of, acknowledge, and allow Him to correct us for our betterment and the betterment of others.
The Bible does not hide David's sins, it reveals them for all to see. Not to shame David, not just to give us an image of the pain that sin caused in David's life, but in order that we might see the amazing grace of God. Is it possible that God also revealed all of David's flaws in order to show us that none of us can ever live perfectly? Maybe He wants us to trust in Him and His righteousness instead of our own? In today's study we dig into the actions of David, God's love for him, and how it relates to us today.
Is it possible that the church has wandered away from it's primary objective, loving God and loving our neighbor, and fallen into the dreadful pit of tradition? So many today that name the name of Christ live a life of legalistic, judgmental ugliness that in no way mirrors the life of Christ. Serving the Lord is more than refraining from sin, it is also heading into the darkened world as He did and sharing the good news of the love and power of God to save and deliver.
Paul tells us two absolute truths in Romans 3.23-24; the first is that all of us have sinned and are guilty of causing the death of Christ. Second, God loves us so much He was willing to offer His Son as our sacrifice. Often we focus on one of the other. We are either so focused on sin that we beat ourselves up and are hyper judgmental of our neighbor. We can also be so swept up in our flesh that we begin to justify sin by claiming we are loved by God so we do not need to correct any bad behavior. Both are applicable. God loves us so He corrects us, He corrects us because He wants us to experience His peace and joy. My sin required the blood of Jesus be shed, but it was God's love that sent Him to suffer and die. Join us as we discuss this today.
There will be times in all of our lives when we ask the question "why". God why did this happen? God why are you letting me go through this? God why won't you answer my prayer? God why are you silent? In today's message we discuss how there are things that happen to us in life that do not make sense in the moment, but that God has a plan and in hindsight we can see how God can work out even the most horrible experiences and turn them around for good.
The church is not made up of super saints that have illustrious reputations and super human skill. It is made up of normal, everyday people who let the Lord use them in supernatural ways to do the extraordinary work He calls them to. On today's podcast we study Romans 16.5-15 as Paul tells of some very important people that had made incredible impressions in his life and who had been very impactful in his faith and his ministry. He doesn't list the rich and famous influencers of the world at that time. These are normal folks, the salt of the earth. It is the same type of people that God is using today.
What does it mean to be submitted to God? Many claim to be followers of God but their lives are lived in opposition to His Word and His will. On today's podcast we discuss James 4:6-7, and how James explains what true submission to the Lord means. It is not what we do or do not do in terms of opinion or tradition, but rather obedience to the Lord that determines submersion .
In Genesis 18:9-18, Sarah laughs privately at the promise of the Lord to give her a child. Her thought was, "howwer you going to do that for an old woman like me?". Often we become content in the place we are in life, just accepting it as the norm. We begin to look at the obstacles in our life and simply quit expecting any other outcome than disappointment. We begin to look at how things are and feel it is too much to expect anything to change. God is able to make a way where there doesn't appear to be one. Stop laughing at the Word of the Lord. Accept it as fact. He will keep His promises.
We all go through times as believers where we wonder when God is going to work out the situation we are dealing with. We know He is faithful, but in the process of time we will feel the weight of the stress of waiting and as any child will do, we ask God how much longer will this take. "When are you going to resolve this?", or as we hear in the South, "whenner you going to resolve this?'. It isn't that we are questioning God, it is simply our heart crying out in the anguish we are experiencing and asking for reassurance. Is He faithful? Of course. Does that take away the pain we feel in the process. No. We are human. He knows that. He loves us. And He understands our eagerness to get out of the struggle we are in. David asks some strong questions in Psalm 13. He also gives strong answers. David knew the pain, but he also knew the faithfulness of the promise of the Lord.
On today's podcast we continue our series on adoption. Jo Carole Ellis joins us to discuss the experience that she and her husband Paul had in adopting their son, Brady. She shares with us how an overseas adoption works, the ups and downs of the process, the worries and concerns, and the ultimate joy of getting to bring their little boy home.
Jesus has called the called to exhibit His love in action, to be light in darkness, to be order in chaos. Paul makes reference to this in Philippians 2:1-2. There is no greater witness to the love of Jesus than His body, the family, the Church being one with each other. Unity is the precious blessing of the working of the Holy Spirit within the Church. Our enemy, the devil, seeks to destroy the unity of the Church, for the purpose of debilitating it and leaving it dysfunctional. If unity is Jesus' desire, then disunity is the goal of the enemy. May the Church reject the attempts to breed disunity and may we live in "thisunity".
This week we begin a series of podcasts about the topic of adoption. On today's podcast we have Emily Myers sharing part of their families experience with fostering and adoption. A few years ago Emily and her husband Daniel adopted three children that they added to the there own three children they already had. Now a family of eight, Emily shares the joys, the struggles, the excitement, and the tears that were felt throughout their journey.
