God sometimes tells us to wait for answers to our prayers until it's humanly impossible for what we're waiting for to be accomplished. We wait until there's no earthly way for it to happen, so that everyone knows if God didn't do it, then it just wouldn't get done. Learn more about why God sometime tells us to wait when we pray on today's Treasured Truth.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Passage: 2 Peter 3:15-18 Sermon Notes: Intro: - What type of people we are to be while we wait - Spotless and Blameless - This week is Part 2 1. People with Salvation Mindset a. Age of Salvation i. Anything built that has no eternal value will not. ii. Spend your life building on what will last. 2. People of the Word - Those who twist the word a. Progressive Christianity i. Sells itself as a valid option for Christians. ii. Seems more acceptable, more likable, a more palatable version of The faith. iii. But at the heart of it, it really is not Christianity at all. b. Progressive Christianity Symptoms i. Faith is celebrated, but not The Faith ii. Belief in Jesus can be both orthodox and blasphemous. iii. Love for God is defined whether you are loving people. iv. Hypercritical of Evangelical Christians v. Bible is important for some spiritual truth but is majorly flawed. c. Heart of Progressive Christianity - “Maybe Eve was never meant to be our warning, maybe she was meant to be our model. Own your wanting, eat the apple.”—inner voice is the guiding factor. i. Sin is no longer what's wrong with the world, but unrealized ambition. My inner need is a spiritual one. It's liberating, cause you're casting off the shackle of the Christianity you've been raised in and you're able to forge your own path, with Jesus and the bible along to approve of you. ii. Inner sense of goodness and personal purpose are your spiritual authority. iii. You're the hero of the journey, therefore the idea of God judging you is in conflict. 3. Be People of the Word a. High View of Scripture and High Knowledge of the word
What does it look like for us to wait well? What would it look like for us – in the midst of waiting – to decide to praise? Praise meaning to bring our whole selves to Jesus – not because of what may happen in the future but because of what He has in store for us today. This series will explore how God meets us in our waiting and uses it for our good as He transforms us and opens our eyes to more of Him.

We're in Genesis chapter 40 today. Hardship and sorrow may not be our favorite teacher but it's an effective one. God knows it and uses it in our lives! Last time we began to hear of how God allowed Joseph to experience great sorrow. It came in the form of being horribly mistreated, falsely accused and imprisoned. Yet God uses it to accomplish His purposes. And I should add the Lord often does that in our lives. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29
We've got a great study from Genesis chapter 40 all set and ready to go, here today on Sound Doctrine. Americans by and large hate to wait. Whether it's on the freeway or in the drive-through line, people are easily irritated while they wait. Today we'll learn that God often has us in the waiting room, but while we're waiting, He's working! This shines through the story of Joseph. David The Shepherd Warrior This series focuses on the life of David. Why should we study the life of this man? David's story is a picture of Messianic typology. We see in David the struggle against the flesh that is so typical in all of us. And we will see what a man after God's own heart looks like. We start in 1 Samuel 16 where the Israelites cry for a king. It is a period of hopeless humanism, void of leadership. The people choose a man based on outward appearance, electability and sound bites. They chose Saul, tall, dark and handsome. Saul was a good looking man, but he lacked character. He was prone to hot tempered outbursts, bouts of intense depression and capable of incredible evil, jealousy, control, obsession with fame and even murder. God gives them Saul. But waiting in the wings is a shepherd boy, David.

Part 4 of #Wait is all about imagination!! Pastor BJ Sullivan reminds us that if we fix our thoughts on the hope found in Christ our faith will follow that hope like a light at the end of a tunnel.
Pastor BJ Sullivan delivers a message about redwood trees. Redwoods are some of the oldest and largest living organisms on earth and they get that way because of a root system that grows together and entwines. As we allow our roots to grow around each other we also will see longevity and prosperity.
In part 2 of our #Wait Series Pastor Lisa Sullivan talks about entwining yourself to hope during the waiting season by building yourself up in the Holy Spirit.
Seasons of waiting are not meant to be seasons of inaction. They are meant to be seasons of wrapping our lives & our hearts around the heart of God. Pastor BJ Sullivan kicks off this new series with part 1.
