John Kosar shares the latest Asbury 6 metrics, a way of measuring market health. All six metrics turned red as of March 6, and John explains what that could spell for market movements. “The market's vulnerable to more technical weakness.” He looks at support levels for major indexes and argues that “by early next week,” if the market doesn't find footing, we'll have a “tough start to the second quarter.” John also looks at the S&P 500 by sector, measuring inflows and outflows. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. Doug Foltz explains how he used AI to solve a real coach-development bottleneck: mentor coaching doesn't scale. By building a competency rubric and an AI "agent" that evaluates coaching transcripts, Doug's team reduced hours of expert analysis to minutes—then re-centered the human work where it matters most: reflection, agency, and a short mentor-coaching conversation. The bigger idea: "communal co-intelligence"—AI not just as a personal assistant, but as a tool that helps a whole coaching community preserve culture, build consistency, and scale development without losing what makes coaching human. Episode description How do you scale mentor coaching when you don't have the budget—or the hours? Doug Foltz (Content Engineering & Value Alignment Lead at Gloo, DMin candidate at Asbury, and longtime church-planting coach) shares how he built an AI-supported mentor-coaching loop: a detailed competency rubric + an AI evaluator that reviews transcripts in minutes. But Doug also warns about a hidden danger: AI can bypass reflection, which is essential for adult learning. So they intentionally added "friction" back into the process—reflection first, then AI feedback, then a short human coaching conversation. Along the way, Doug introduces a powerful concept: communal co-intelligence—AI that strengthens a community's shared language, values, and coaching culture. Key moments (timestamps) 0:02–1:20 – Who Doug is + why Brian calls him the "AI guy" 1:49–3:21 – The real problem: coaching training doesn't stick without mentor coaching 3:34–5:06 – Doug's solution: a rubric + AI agent that evaluates transcripts (levels 1–3) 6:44–8:15 – The twist: reflection is essential; AI can accidentally remove it 8:28–9:00 – The human loop: 15–20 minute mentor conversation after reflection + report 10:38–14:35 – Why AI matters: replaces 3–4 hours of expert analysis with minutes 15:04–16:15 – The church's role: protect what's uniquely human; set boundaries 16:27–19:16 – "Communal co-intelligence": AI + a coaching community's culture and standards 21:24–23:00 – What they observed: fast growth from Level 1 → Level 2; harder jump to Level 3 23:29–25:46 – Craft guild model: learn the fundamentals, then innovate without losing the core 28:57–31:14 – What's next: agentic systems, tools + data access, and AI as "work orchestrator" Key ideas AI can scale mentor coaching by doing the transcript evaluation quickly and consistently. Reflection is non-negotiable in adult learning; AI can "steal" it by doing the thinking for you. The solution is intentional friction: reflection → AI feedback → short human mentor coaching. Agency matters: don't make AI the all-knowing guru; keep the learner's authority intact. Communal co-intelligence: AI can reinforce a shared coaching culture across many coaches. Early gains can be rapid (novice → intermediate), but advanced mastery takes longer. The future is agentic systems that combine tools + data + context to orchestrate real work. Quotable lines (pull quotes) "We really can't scale coaching very well." "Mentor coaching is what makes the training stick." "My process actually bypasses [reflection] entirely." "We added a friction point… and we made them reflect." "You don't want the AI to be the all-knowing guru." "That's the part of the process that we said, we're going to replace." (re: 3–4 hours of evaluation) "Communal co-intelligence… it's the AI with our coaching community." "It becomes this orchestrator of work within an organization." Discussion questions (for Learning Lab / staff meeting) Where would AI help us scale without compromising what we value most? What part of our development process must remain human-only? Where might AI accidentally remove reflection, struggle, or ownership? What would a "reflection-first" workflow look like for our coaches or trainers? What are the risks of communal AI (shared culture) becoming static or overly controlling? If AI becomes an "orchestrator of work," what data is off-limits—and why? Practical takeaway AI is best used as a leverage tool—not a replacement for learning. Let it do the heavy lift of analysis and pattern recognition, then spend your human time where it counts: reflection, discernment, presence, and coaching conversations that build ownership and growth. If you design it well, AI doesn't dilute your culture—it can actually help you scale it.
In this eye-opening conversation, Dr. John Wigger joins me to explore the life and legacy of Francis Asbury—one of the most understudied yet profoundly influential figures in American religious history. Asbury may not have been a charismatic performer or a deep intellectual in the traditional sense, but he had an extraordinary grasp of Methodism's core calling: holiness, sanctification, relational connection, and cultural awareness. He organized and adapted Methodism to serve the needs of the emerging United States, helping it thrive in a new nation. This episode challenged and corrected several misconceptions I held about Asbury, highlighting his practical genius in making Methodism relevant and vibrant in early America. If you're interested in Wesleyan theology, Methodist history, or how faith adapts to cultural contexts, this is a must-listen!Key Topics Discussed:• Asbury's non-traditional leadership style• The heart of Methodism: holiness, sanctification, and relational discipleship• Cultural adaptation and organizational strategy in the young United States• Correcting common misconceptions about AsburyYoutube - https://youtu.be/2xzLVzyG70QAudio - https://andymilleriii.com/media/podcastApple - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/more-to-the-story-with-dr-andy-miller/id1569988895?uo=4John Wigger's book: American Saint: Francis Asbury and the Methodists - https://a.co/d/058UdnmnIf you are interested in learning more about my two full-length video-accompanied courses, Contender: Going Deeper in the Book of Jude andHeaven and Other Destinations: A Biblical Journey Beyond this World , visit andymilleriii.com/coursesAnd don't forget about my most recent book, Contender, which is available on Amazon! Zachary Levi — Chuck, Shazam, and now host of the new docu-drama David: King of Israel — joins us to talk about why the story of David is the one he keeps coming back to. It's a story of someone who's broken, who makes terrible decisions, and who somehow still gets called a man after God's own heart. Levi explains what sets this show apart from all the other David content out there right now and why he thinks everyone needs to hear this story again. Also in this episode: We've been hearing a lot about revival — from the SEU outpouring to Asbury to rising Bible sales. John Kosar, chief market strategist at Asbury Research, says money managers are moving from the market's racehorses to its sure-footed burros, saying it's a sign of "the very late stages of an up move or the beginning stages of the market starting to roll over." Kosar says the market has some room to correct and stay in bull market territory, but he thinks investors want to be cautious here until the rotation is complete. "I'm not saying doom and gloom and we';re done for the year," Kosar says, "but if you want to put on more risk ... this is a lousy place to do it." He's expecting a 5 to 7 percent move down, at which point the market will be much more attractive. In the Market Call, deep-value investor Michael Campagna, co-founder and senior investment analyst at Moerus Capital Management, discusses how the high levels of domestic stocks have him more interested in international investments, but he is finding plenty of opportunities around the globe, including, surprisingly, some that are derivative plays from the artificial-intelligence boom. Plus, Chuck discusses the parts of Tuesday's State of the Union address that had him scratching his head about math and political processes, and digs into statements that were made about inflation, tariffs, Social Security, the level of promised foreign investments into the United States, the scope of fraud in government programs and more.

John Kosar highlights a defensive shift in the market as dividend stocks and value plays begin to outpace growth. While the S&P 500 (SPX) remains in a long-term bull trend, internal metrics suggest a rotation toward the industrial and energy sectors. John monitors the Asbury 6 to gauge market health. He explains why the market could sustain a significant pullback toward its 200-day moving average without compromising its overall structural integrity.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. In this powerful episode, I sit down with Dr. Nathan Finn, one of evangelicalism's foremost historians of spiritual awakenings, to tackle one of the most pressing questions facing the church today: How do we discern between authentic moves of God and emotionalism that burns out as quickly as it ignites? Dr. Finn brings decades of research studying every major revival from Jonathan Edwards' Northampton awakening to recent movements like Asbury 2023, helping us understand what genuine spiritual renewal really looks like.We dive deep into the patterns that mark authentic revival throughout history - from the Moravian hundred-year prayer meeting that birthed modern missions to the controversies surrounding Charles Finney's revival techniques. Dr. Finn shares crucial insights about why some movements with unusual manifestations turn out genuine while others fizzle into hype, and reveals the red flags that indicate spiritual manipulation versus the Holy Spirit's authentic work. This conversation is especially timely as we see growing spiritual curiosity in our culture and wonder if we might be approaching another great awakening. In this episode you will learn:The biblical distinctions between revival, renewal, and awakeningThree unmistakable marks that appear in every genuine move of God throughout historyHow Jonathan Edwards discerned true conversion from religious excitementThe connection between authentic revival and missional explosionWarning signs that distinguish spiritual manipulation from real revivalWhy the church often becomes a counterculture right before major awakeningsHow to evaluate modern movements like Asbury 2023 while they're happeningThe historical patterns suggesting we might be approaching another great awakeningWhat pastors and Christians should be doing now to prepare for potential revivalWhy "staying close and staying clean" matters more than revival techniquesConnect with Dr. Nathan Finn:Website: nathanfinn.comSubstack: Think Christianly, Live FaithfullyBooks: Historical Theology for the Church (B&H Academic)Stay Connected with Johnny and The Dig In Podcast:Subscribe and follow our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@thejohnnyovaFollow all things Johnny Ova: https://linktr.ee/johnnyovaGet Johnny's book, The Revelation Reset: https://a.co/d/hiUkW8H#Revival #SpiritualAwakening #ChurchHistory #NathanFinn #Christianity #HolySpirit #JonathanEdwards #CharlesFinney #Asbury2023 #ChurchRevival #BiblicalDiscernment #DigInPodcast #ChristianPodcast #TheologyPodcast #ChurchMovementsSupport the show

"Of all the books in the OT, Isaiah is perhaps the richest. Its literary grandeur is unequaled. Its scope is unparalleled. The breadth of its view of God is unmatched. In so many ways it is a book of superlatives. Thus, it is no wonder that Isaiah is the most quoted prophet in the NT, and along with Psalms and Deuteronomy, one of the most frequently cited of all OT books. Study of it is an opportunity for unending inspiration and challenge…it comes to us as a word from God, a revelation of the inevitable conflict between divine glory and human pride, of self-destruction which that pride must bring, and of the grace of God in restoring that destroyed humanity to himself. To read the book with the open eyes of the spirit is to see oneself, at times all too clearly, but also to see God whose holiness is made irresistible by his love." - Dr. John Oswalt from his two-volume commentary on the book of Isaiah. Dr. John Oswalt is our very special guest this week and next on Apologetics Profile. He will be taking us through some of the highlights of this magisterial theological work. His insights will better equip you to give a defense to non-believers who doubt the history and authorship of Isaiah. The Automotive Troublemaker w/ Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier
Shoot us a Text.Episode #1214: Asbury sets the stage for its next leadership chapter, Ford teams with Renault to regain momentum in Europe, and the President's kei-car wish sparks a reality check on what it would take to bring microcars to U.S. dealerships.Show Notes with links:Asbury Automotive is gearing up for a major leadership handoff this May as longtime CEO David Hult moves into the Executive Chairman role and COO Dan Clara steps into the top seat. The move caps a disciplined succession plan following years of rapid growth.Hult, 60, says the transition comes at “the right time” as Asbury continues strong momentum from record acquisitions and profit expansion.Under Hult, Asbury tripled earnings and shareholder value while nearly tripling annual new-vehicle volume.Clara joined Asbury as a client adviser at a BMW store in 2002 and rose through the ranks, most recently becoming COO in February.Leadership praised Clara's operational chops, strategic mindset, and success integrating large-scale acquisitions.“His drive, strategic mindset, and strong dedication to our values make him the logical choice to serve as Asbury's next CEO,” Hult said.Ford is teaming up with Renault to develop small EVs tailored for Europe as competition from Chinese automakers accelerates. The partnership gives Ford a more cost-competitive path forward after years of shrinking share and restructuring in the region.Renault will build two Ford-designed small EVs in France, with the first arriving in 2028.Ford's U.S. “skunk works” EV platform is too large and expensive for Europe's compact segments.Ford's European share has fallen to 3.3%, down from 7.2% in 2015, despite multiple restructuring rounds and job cuts.““We know we're in a fight for our lives in our industry, and no better example than here in Europe,” CEO Jim Farley told reporters. After the President floated the idea of bringing Japan's tiny kei cars to the U.S. to address vehicle affordability, experts quickly noted the steep sales and production hurdles. While automakers say they're always exploring lower-cost options, kei cars would require a level of demand the U.S. has never shown. In a Truth Social post, Trump said he had "just approved TINY CARS to be built in America," calling them "inexpensive, safe, fuel efficient and, quite simply, AMAZING!!!" and urged manufacturers, "START BUILDING THEM NOW!"Microcars peaked at just 114,000 U.S. sales in 2014—far below the volume needed to make kei-car production viable today.Analysts say an automaker would need around 200,000 annual sales to justify investment, even under ideal conditions.“When we had a chance to buy smaller cars in the past, most of us chose not to purchase them,” said Stephanie Brinley of S&P Global Mobility.Thank you to today's sponsor, Mia. John Kosar updates viewers on the Asbury 6, an “EKG for the market.” 5 of 6 metrics are positive as of November 10, and he thinks this is bullish short term. He notes 7,000 is a “big psychological number” for the SPX, which may make it more difficult to break. He charts DIA vs SPY performance to compare major indexes and discusses what could be ahead.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Dr. Arnold is the Paul S. Amos Professor of Old Testament Interpretation at Asbury Theological Seminary. He joined the faculty of Asbury my freshman year, so we have grown up at Asbury together. He has written extensively on the Old Testament and ancient Near Eastern Culture. Look for his excellent book, Introduction to the Old Testament, if you want to get a start on his scholarship. He is currently writing a two-volume commentary on Deuteronomy, the first half of which was released in 2022. He served on the Old Testament translation team for the New Living Translation, and was responsible for translating the books of 1 and 2 Kings. And that's why we want to talk to him today … because we love Bible translators! Let's jump in.
The guest mix hit parade continues! Right on the heels of his last train mix Paul gives another train-themed set. This is one more in line with many of Paul's other train mixes in that it's main genre is berlin-school. I have been on a berlin-school bender all year so I am excited for this one. Here's what Paul says about the mix: "You're sitting on a grassy slope above the cottage, looking out across the landscape below. It's night and soft dots of light here and there indicate other houses, groups of houses, a road. In the distance you can see the black edge of a ruler, marking the gap between carriages and a bright bar of light moving left in front of it. Like happens in dreams, you are watching the scene and then you are in it, your seat tipped back, not quite asleep, you're looking out the window. It's a modern train. Gone is the classic click-click, click-click, but you can still feel the subtle rocking back and forth as the train hurtles silently forward. Under the stars. The cacophony of a station stop, made eerie in the wee hours of the morning. Or memory stirring up a previous adventure then returning you to your current tranquility." Thanks, Paul, for another excellent entry in your continuing train series. When Zach MeerKreebs gave a simple message about love and repentance at Asbury University in 2023, he had no idea it would spark one of the most powerful modern-day revivals. In this conversation, Zach joins Riley and Jack to talk about what really happened in that chapel, how the revival spread across the world, and what it means to sustain a move of God after the headlines fade. Together, they explore the heart posture that invites God's presence, the role social media played in amplifying the story, and the danger of chasing moments instead of cultivating ongoing renewal. If you've ever wondered how revival begins—or how to keep the fire burning—this episode will stir your faith and call you deeper into intimacy with Jesus.Zach's Book Lower:https://www.amazon.com/Lower-Igniting-Spiritual-Awakening-Humility/dp/1546007512/ref=sr_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9._MCqkQuu4qfGwg9XyCy4iw.VyvxLsKWgJPZrPlYYNnNEKU064IzpWTcwLzAh1oBDTc&dib_tag=se&hvadid=713624274416&hvdev=c&hvexpln=0&hvlocphy=1025990&hvnetw=g&hvocijid=16191820109739053768--&hvqmt=e&hvrand=16191820109739053768&hvtargid=kwd-2394937910588&hydadcr=22564_13730710&keywords=lower+by+zach+meerkreebs&mcid=fdd62a79a149346d9258e28fa5da4030&qid=1761086863&sr=8-1

He discusses the elevated VIX vs the S&P 500's moves and the possibility of a market correction. “We either take off and go higher from here, or roll into a correction.” 4 of the Asbury 6 metrics are showing red, while only 2 are green. John also walks through asset flows into S&P 500 sectors and explains where he sees promise.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. More than 8 years ago, Paul Asbury Seaman came to me with an idea for a mix. He would provide the theme and tracklist, and I would man the faders and knobs to create his first guest mix. Of course that first mix was a train-themed set. Now, after 9 railway mixes & many hours traveling on the audio tracks, Paul brings us his tenth train-themed mix. This one is a b it different than the others so I'll let Paul tell you about it: "To celebrate my tenth train mix for Low Light Mixes I'm doing a collection of vocal tracks. There are way too many great train songs to call this set a “Best Of,” thus the qualified title. (I have five CD-length train song mixes for my own use.) These are some of my favorites. And here's several more to start your own playlists, that didn't make the cut only because of time limitations: “People Get Ready” (several good versions), “City of New Orleans” (Arlo Guthrie), “Locomotive Breath” (Jethro Tull), “Long Train Runnin'” (Doobie Brothers), “The Midnight Special” (CCR), “Downtown Lights” (Annie Lennox version) and of course “Hear My Train a Comin'” by Jimi Hendrix (from the Winterland LIVE box set)." Thanks, Paul, for another thoughtful collection of songs. Here's to 10 more excursions on the rails. In this message, we continue our series in Hebrews with one of the most sobering passages in all of Scripture: a warning against rejecting God. Hebrews 6:1–6 speaks not of casual mistakes but of full-blown apostasy—a deliberate turning away from Christ after once tasting His goodness.Throughout history, God has always warned His people; Adam, Noah, Moses, Ezekiel, and even Jesus Himself gave warnings to protect souls, not to steal joy. Warnings are mercy in action. Ignoring them leads to danger, but receiving them leads to safety in Christ.Together we trace the roots of apostasy in America, from early faith-filled foundations to today's widespread rejection of biblical truth. Yet even in seasons of decline, God never leaves Himself without a witness—from the Great Awakenings, to Azusa Street, to Asbury. How do we avoid falling away? By progressing in our faith, persisting through trials, and refusing to grow lazy in our walk with God. This message challenges us to take the warning seriously, to grow in spiritual maturity, and to hold fast to Christ with endurance and hope.
John Kosar of Asbury Research breaks down the Asbury 6, which are metrics measuring different aspects of the market. 4 indicators are currently positive, while 2 are negative. John emphasizes that these are short-term projections, but says that the economy as a whole seems relatively stable. “We're following the money…to be in the right places” when money gets “sticky – and that's where the profits are.”======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. We're kicking off a brand-new revival series on Called For More! Riley and Jack unpack what happened in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit showed up, the Church was born, and 3,000 people gave their lives to Jesus in a single day. From the fire that fell at Pentecost to revivals like the Great Awakenings, Azusa Street, and even Asbury, they show how every move of God points back to that moment. Get ready to see what revival really is, why it matters today, and how God still uses ordinary people to change the world.
There will be moments in our lives that change us forever—terrible moments, epic moments, and maybe even ordinary moments. My second-chance story and my life's calling spun out of the worst moment of my life. And, somehow, God made it into something really, really good.My guest today is Zach Meerkreebs. He was at the center of the Asbury outpouring, an historical spiritual movement that changed lives around the world. That moment marked Zach, but it's not the only moment that has drawn him into deeper wonder, surrender, and humility. During our time together, he shared about how the loss of his daughter and being let go from his first job in ministry have been as important as any revival to his spiritual formation and friendship with Jesus. What we mentioned:Lower: Igniting Spiritual Awakening Through Radical Humility by Zach Meerkreebs - https://a.co/d/fBFvr7IAbout Staughn Coleman - https://www.commonerscommunion.com/aboutThe Daily Examen - https://www.jesuits.org/spirituality/the-ignatian-examen/Barnabas Collective - https://www.barnabascollective.org/Zach on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/zachmeerkreebs/Scriptures we referenced:Philippians 2:6Matthew 7:6John 15:15-16Esther 9:1Ecclesiastes 7:2Psalm 139:1-24About Katherine & Hope HealsFor more messages of hope, free resources, and opportunities to connect with me: https://hopeheals.com/Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hopeheals/Subscribe to The GoodHard Story Podcast!Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/good-hard-story-podcast/id1496882479Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/0OYz6G9Q2tNNVOX9YSdmFb?si=043bd6b10a664bebWant a little hope in your inbox? The Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Podcast: Lead Like Never Before
In our Revival Series opener, Zach Meerkreeb shares the backstory of the Asbury Outpouring sparked by his sermon, which didn't go particularly well. He explores Gen Z's unique spiritual awakening, the power of humility and confession, and offers guidance for church leaders who want to see revival in their churches.
