Markel Irizar is a former pro cyclist who spent 16 years at the highest level of this sport. Markel was one of the most loyal domestiques of his era, starting in 21 Grand Tours and 29 monumental classics. After retiring, he stayed with Lidl-Trek as the team's sporting director and coach. In addition, he took up skimo and successfully completed Pierra Menta two weeks ago.
