It's been a busy fortnight of international football for Wales. The women put their 2027 World Cup campaign back on track with convincing win over the Czech Republic to claim top spot in their group. But that's just the beginning of a long road to Brazil. Meanwhile, there was little to celebrate as far as the men are concerned, following a draw and a defeat in two friendly games. The mood was completely difference 10 year ago, of course. And on the anniversary of the 2-1 win over Slovakia in Euro 2016, Carl (fan), Iwan (commentator) and Sam (player) take a trip down memory lane to remember the momentous day in Bordeaux. And as the World Cup gets underway without Wales in North America, the team attempt to whip up some enthusiasm for the event - and pick a winner.

Carl, Iwan and Sam preview two huge games - with vastly difference consequences - for Wrexham and Newport on the final day of the season. And they reflect on Sam's decision to bring a 20-year career to an end.
We bring you analysis of both of Newport County's defeats over the Easter weekend...Part 1 sees Rhys ask Hamid and Ed about the loss to Crawley, and then Part 2 is an Ian Street match diary from a pretty dispiriting trip to Notts County (joined by, amongst others, Dave & Iwan and Stu & Fraser). Such is our luck this season, the one bit of joyous audio - County's consolation goal - was unusable for technical reasons so it's an even glummer account than you expect.Gluttons for punishment that we are, we'll be back with another episode next weekend after the Harrogate six-pointer. In the meantime, check our website for all the pod info you need, or drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us. Thanks as ever to the Riverside Sports Bar for their support of the pod - and we'll be there for a live show after the Oldham game on Saturday 25 April. Our theme tune is the original 1973 recording of Come On The County.Until next time, look after yourselves and each other, and above all Keep It County. Hosted on Acast. Zdjęcia i linki: https://www.podcastrowerowy.pl/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PodkastRowerowyInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/podkastrowerowy/Produkcja Oryginalna Earborne Media
For this episode of the SFT Podcast, we hear from Owen Shiers – Welsh folk singer, researcher, grain grower and cultural historian. In his late 20s, Owen was rewarded a scholarship from the Finzi Trust to research folk music in Ceredigion, where he grew up – a moment which he describes as the 'beginning of his journey'. What was originally intended to be an exploration of culture, became an exploration of agriculture as Owen came to learn about the significance of black oats in Wales. During his research, Owen crossed paths with Gerald Miles, an organic farmer from Pembrokeshire, and Iwan Evans Coedfadre, a Welsh folk singer and farmer. Whilst Gerald had been searching for black oats for 20 years, having all but disappeared and been replaced by more modern varieties of oats, Iwan was the last farmer in Wales to be growing them. Through this research, Owen was able to connect Gerald and Iwan, which led to the creation of the Llafur Ni Network ('Our Cereals') – a project they co-founded with the Gaia Foundation, bringing together farmers and growers across Wales to revive black oats and other rare welsh grains. Owen's music, (Cynefin – Owen's 'musical brainchild') is firmly rooted in the customs and cultural vernacular of Ceredigion. His most recent album Shimli, explores the intersection between music, poetry, food and the natural world. Stick around until the end of this episode to hear 'Y Medelwr' (The Reaper Man) from Owen's latest album, and for an explanation about the origins of the song. Elsewhere in the episode, Patrick and Owen also talk about the impact that religion has had on Welsh folk music; how the cultivation and preservation of seeds compares to that of the cultivation of wool and other animal by-products; and they ask, how can we create economic opportunities for people in a food and farming system which is often working against the principles of sustainability? You can listen to Cynefin's music here and and follow him on Instagram. To find out more about the Llafur Ni Network and how Owen first came to meet Gerald and Iwan, watch this brilliant film from The Gaia Foundation and Andy Pilsbury. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A rare Ian Street match diary from Newport. Not in the happiest circumstances, or with the happiest of match reports, but there's some laughter and joy along the way as we hear from Dave, Iwan, Fin (from Maeve), Jack and Ed about the home loss to Colchester (as well as Dave & Ed's match report on the midweek win over Tranmere).Do check out our shiny new website and drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us, including feedback on our new theme tune (the original 1973 recording of Run Lads, Shoot Lads). In another joint episode between the 1912 Exiles and the Dragons Lair podcast, we sat down for a chat over Zoom with Leader of Newport Council, Dimitri Batrouni. We asked about the council's commitment to both grassroots sport and pro sport in Newport, what steps it might take to support the redevelopment of Rodney Parade, and whether anything will ever get built on the Cabbage Patch. We're grateful to Dimitri for giving us his time, and we hope you find the chat useful and engaging. And then after the break we hear from Dave & Iwan about the great away win at Salford, and from Jack about the home defeat to Cambridge...
Ten weeks ago, the general consensus was Swansea City were in a relegation battle. Thirteen games later, has new manager Vitor Matos transformed the team into Championship play-off contenders? A comfortable 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday leaves the Swans just five points adrift of the top six, but four games against team above them in the table await.Wrexham failed to give owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac a win to mark five years at the helm by slipping up at home to Millwall. Attention now turns to the fourth round of the FA Cup against Ipswich Town.No such problems for Cardiff City, who shrugged off the 20th-minute red card to Ryan Wintle to win 3-0 at Rotherham, a display described by Iwan as one of the best he can recall by a team with 10 men.

Hallo Wechseljahre! - Kraftvoll und ausgeglichen durch die Wechseljahre

A former NYPD officer turned powerhouse vocalist, IWAN isn't just another name in rock—she's a movement. Her journey has been one of solitude and resilience, of standing alone but never backing down. That relentless fire fuels her music, turning raw emotion into anthems that cut deep and refuse to be ignored. Drawing inspiration from icons like Scott Stapp and Creed, IWAN blends the grit of classic rock with the intensity of alternative, channeling struggle into strength. Her songs don't just play; they ignite. With searing riffs, haunting vocals, and lyrics that hit like a gut punch, she crafts a sound that's both defiant and deeply human. Her music is a battle cry for the fighters, the outsiders, and those who refuse to break. Somewhere between Joan Jett's rebellion and Mad Max's recklessness, IWAN is both force and fury—polished yet raw, powerful yet unfiltered. She isn't just stepping onto the scene—she's commanding it. With a fan base craving realness and a no-BS attitude, she's here to leave a mark. “I want to be remembered,” she says. “I want someone to say my music helped them through.” IWAN: Remember the name. You won't forget the music.

Wrexham produced another memorable occasion at Y Cae Ras with a thrilling FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest on penalties, leading to a somewhat underwhelming fifth round tie against Ipswich Town. It was penalty pain for Swansea, though, despite showing more encouraging signs against struggling West Bromwich Albion.A superb solo effort from Yousef Salech secured a hard-earned point for Cardiff City, with a potentially pivotal period coming up against two promotion rivals. And Sam prepares for a "huge game" against Newport County after Iwan goes in "two footed" with the alarming decline in Gillingham's form.
This time out Andy and Liam are joined by former Welsh international and BBC Feast of Football pundit Iwan Roberts to dive into his old club, Norwich. But first we reflect on the Nottingham Forest FA Cup win and if Wrexham should move for a top level Championship striker ready for a transfer. We look at Norwich's problems this season and if they can overcome them, plus a deep dive into how he sees Phil Parkinson's side developing - and what our ambitions should be. There's even time for a few tales about Parkinson including when Iwan let him down and he was ‘blanked' years later! We also explore the Ryan and Rob effect on North Wales as a whole with the Dyffryn Ardudwy native who played for Watford, Huddersfield, Leicester, Norwich and Wolves and was a cult figure wherever he went. After a calamitous defeat to Swansea City before Christmas, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson could not have asked for a better response from his players. Four consecutive wins has lifted the Reds to ninth in the Championship, but crucially, within six points of second place. Are they now genuine contenders for automatic promotion? Iwan and Sam certainly think so.Swansea's steady progress under Vitor Matos continues, although Iwan believes some are "getting carried" away with the improvement, given they've yet to beat anyone above them in the table.Cardiff City remain top of League One, but their lead at the top remains three points despite a fruitful festive period. And Newport County are off the bottom of League Two, giving themselves some welcomed hope into the new year.
In a rare and fascinating insight, head coach Craig Bellamy gives a glimpse into the tactics and fundamental principles used by Wales in the recent World Cup qualifying campaign. Using a tactics board in the dressing room at the Wales training base near Cardiff, Bellamy reveals the flexibility of his approach and what he demands from each member of the squad. Carl, Iwan and Sam are engrossed... and barely manage to get a word in.Bellamy, who has won half of his 16 games in charge of Wales, also names his biggest coaching influences and explains the debt of gratitude he owes to Iwan for protecting him during their time together playing for Norwich City.
A big statement of intent - that's what Carl, Iwan and Sam made of the three late attacking substitutions made Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy that turned an acceptable away draw into a huge win at title rivals Stevenage. It increased their lead at the top of League One to four points, but also sent a clear message to their rivals on the manager's winning mentality.Swansea City had a super sub of their own as Liam Cullen struck to ensure a second successive home win that silenced talk of a relegation battle... for now. Newport County put a shocking FA Cup display behind them to earn a point at Crewe, giving Iwan new hope they can climb off the bottom of League Two as the hectic Christmas schedule arrives. And after Mo Salah's remarkable outburst against his treatment at Liverpool, Sam recalls his attempts to persuade Sean Dyche he was wrong to drop him to the Burnley bench.
It may only be early December, but the message is clear for Swansea City - this is now a relegation fight. And the next two games - at home to fellow strugglers Oxford United and Portsmouth - could define the whole season.Wrexham, meanwhile, are looking upwards after extending their unbeaten run to eight games. Manager Phil Parkinson has now reached 200 league games with The Reds, with a hugely impressive 59.5% win rate. With so many clubs now opting for a head coach rather than a more traditional manager, are the likes of Parkinson becoming a rare breed? Iwan and Sam share their experiences of working under some of the best in the business.Premier League scouts are flocking to Cardiff City to watch Dylan Lawlor, and Rhian Wilkinson can breathe a sigh of relief after claiming a first win for Wales in a tough, yet historically significant, 2025.
A team effort this one as we hear from Ed, Ollie, Dave, Iwan, Fraser, Hwyligan, Jamie & Ian - as well as from Nathan Blake whose new podcast with Rob Phillips is well worth a listen. Between them, they consider a range of listener questions/thoughts, analyse County's loss to table-topping Walsall, and consider what November might herald.Do look at our ko-fi page to either buy some 1912 Exiles Bovril Spice, or to throw in a few pounds towards our #WhitmoresWarnings fund. Redactie: Stijn GoossensSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Well my goodness, where did that come from? Ian's at the helm at what is now a happy stomping ground in Harrogate away. Featuring Dave (YrAlltudion) and Iwan, it's a classic matchday diary away in another northern town. After the doom and gloom of the last episode, it's welcoming to have some more uplifting tones. Ian's now seen two away wins this month - did the move to a classic 4-4-2 do the trick? Has that 'league of three' at the bottom of the table got a little bit bigger? Has Ian got the bovril stains out of his jeans? Only time will tell.Do contact us via your social media platform of choice if you have anything you want to share. After impressive midweek performances by Swansea City and Wrexham, Iwan and Sam believe both clubs can mount a serious challenge for the play-off places in the Championship. Although still early in the season, the pair agree the door to reach the top six is wide open in the absence of any outstanding rivals.Another unexpected home defeat for Cardiff City put the breaks on their charge back to the top of League One, while there is no sign of Newport's horrendous run coming to an end.Iwan confesses to some violent outburst, while Saint Sam confirms his place as the 'Gary Lineker' of Wales. And talking of Wales, will Aaron Ramsey play a part in the friendly with England or the crucial qualifier that follows against Belgium?

Dear me, what a season this is turning into. In sheer exasperation, the pod crew tried to have a breather from County matters this week, so we're grateful to our listeners Dave & Iwan and Max for sending through reports on the matches against Arsenal B and Chesterfield respectively. For the first time in history, three Welsh clubs have reached the fourth round of the EFL Cup in the same season - cementing some encouraging and improving early-season form for Cardiff City, Swansea City and Wrexham. There's not much to shout about at Newport County, though. Sam's Gillingham record-breaking side were the latest to increase the pressure on manager Dave Hughes, but at least the Rodney Parade faithful made their presence felt on the away dugout.Iwan recalls having to play with a retired goalkeeper in an FA Cup semi-final, and Carl confesses to shameful red cards in his parks football days.
Carl Roberts, Iwan Roberts and Sam Vokes discuss what Wales manager Craig Bellamy learned from the friendly defeat against Canada in Swansea. Have any of the youngsters or fringe players forced themselves into his plans for next month's crucial World Cup qualifier at home to Belgium.Swansea City, Wrexham and Cardiff City return to action this weekend for the first time since the end of the transfer window. The two Championship sides showed their intent with significant investment, giving both managers selection dilemmas for Saturday. Cardiff, meanwhile, put faith in their academy products - can their impressive early-season form continue? And will it even bring a manager of the month award for Brian Barry-Murphy?There was no break for Newport County, and no change in fortunes as new manager Dave Hughes suffered a fifth successive defeat. No such for worries for Sam's Gillingham, who continue to lead League Two.And it would be an episode without some mention of food. This week, Carl makes a shocking Roy Cropper comparison as he gets his teeth into Iwan's choice of sandwich.
We threw this one open to our listeners, with Jack and Ed punctuating things whilst getting views from Alfie, Chris, Stu, Fraser, Ollie, Tinty John, Dave, Iwan and a whole host of Twitterers and Blueskyers who replied to our appeal for post-match thoughts on the home defeat to Bristol Rovers. It's not the most uplifting listen, but huge thanks to everyone who contributed. As always, you can contact us via your social media platform of choice, and you can also donate as little as £2 via our ko-fi page towards our running costs - with a special gift coming next month for all monthly contributors. It wasn't convincing at times, but Kieffer Moore's goal ensured Wales came away with a crucial World Cup qualifying victory in Astana. Sam, Carl and Iwan assemble on the final whistle to pick through the bones of the performance, as Wales move to the top of the group. Dylan Lawlor's composed debut, Karl Darlow's saves and a player of the match performance from the Wales crossbar are all discussed, as the countdown begins to next month's visit of Belgium to Cardiff. And there's a first goal of the season for Sam to celebrate as his new side Gillingham enjoy an encouraging start in League Two.

Part One: Wrexham legend Mickey Thomas reflects on the club's latest promotion and the pivotal role he played at the start of the incredible journey under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Thomas was centre stage at the Cae Ras alongside the charismatic owners as they celebrated an unprecedented third promotion in a row. The 70-year-old also pays tribute to his friend Mike Peters, the lead singer of The Alarm and huge football fan, who died this week.Part Two: Carl, Iwan and Sam ponder what next for Cardiff City after their relegation to League One. Did the troubled club need to hit "rock bottom" to instigate some of the operational changes many have demanded for such a long time? And is Alan Sheehan the correct man to bring stability and success to Swansea City?
And suddenly Cardiff City have just two games to save themselves from relegation to League One. Manager Omer Riza paid the price for a run of one win in 13 with the sack, leaving local hero Aaron Ramsey the unenviable task of trying to save the Bluebirds. He was close to securing a precious win in his first game in charge, but a wonder strike from Oxford's Cameron Brannagan ended that. So it leaves Cardiff needing to win their final two games of the season to stand a chance of staying up... and Iwan and Sam aren't ready to give up hope just yet.No such worries for Swansea, who have surged clear of relegation trouble with a record-breaking run of wins. Has Alan Sheehan done enough to warrant the manager's job on a full-time basis? And the battle between Wrexham and Wycombe for second place in League One took another twist over Easter, much to Sam's annoyance! But at least he felt the love from the Burnley faithful on the long journey back from Bolton.
It's well and truly the "business end of the season" and the clichés are out in force. The race between Wrexham and Wycombe for second place and automatic promotion remains too tight to call as both sides drop points against relegation-threatened opposition. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson felt crucial decisions went against them against Cambridge, while Sam still can't believe none of Wycombe's 33 shots found the net against Shrewsbury. Shooting practice this week? It's situation critical at Cardiff after the Bluebirds drop more points from a winning position by drawing with Sheffield Wednesday at home. For the first time this season, Iwan questions if they have enough to avoid relegation to League One.And with Wales women back in Nations League action, Carl again somehow manages to centre the discussion around food.
Carl Roberts, Iwan Roberts and Sam Vokes are joined by Sam's former Wales teammate James Chester. James talks to us about his decision to hang up his boots recently, his 18-year career, and his time with Wales including Euro 2016. Carl, Iwan and Sam also preview the weekend's football.
