One fine day of 1992, his passion drove him all the way to French beaches, where he discovered our waves and the lifestyle he'd read about in surfing magazines. After starting out at Rip Curl as an intern (waxing boards for Patrick Beven for a photo shoot), he quickly climbed the corporate ladder: first as Footwear Product Manager for Europe, then Head of the « wetsuits and footwear » division, then « Core Division » Manager (products and sales) and in 2013, he became the company's CEO. At the head of one of the leading companies in the industry, the Dutchman also took over for Fred Basse as EuroSIMA President, becoming, for one term, the spokesperson for the entire European action sports industry. After the Torquay-born brand let him go in 2019, Wilco bounced right back, giving a « re-birth » in Europe to another iconic brand : T&C. This new adventure, both so similar and so different from the last one, was once again driven by the same passion for boardsports and a genuine knack for business. Relaunched post-Covid, the brand with a strong Hawaiian heritage has found itself a new place in retail as well as in the hearts of consumers. C dans l'air du 30 juillet 2025 : J-9 : l'ultimatum de Trump à PoutineDonald Trump durcit le ton face à Vladimir Poutine. Le président américain a décidé de raccourcir le délai de son ultimatum : lundi, il a donné "10 à 12 jours" à son homologue russe pour mettre fin à la guerre en Ukraine, faute de quoi de lourdes sanctions seront imposées. Le 14 juillet, il lui avait pourtant accordé un délai de 50 jours. Deux semaines plus tard, le Républicain estime qu'"il n'y a aucune raison d'attendre", déplorant l'absence de "progrès".Mardi, Donald Trump a confirmé n'avoir reçu aucune réponse de la part de Vladimir Poutine. Peut-on vraiment tout dire à une intelligence artificielle ? Pour Sam Altman, PDG d'OpenAI, la réponse est non. Et c'est lui-même qui le dit, au micro du podcast This Past Weekend. Dans cet entretien, il met en garde contre un usage trop personnel de ChatGPT, son propre chatbot. Le message est clair : vos conversations avec ChatGPT ne sont pas protégées par la loi, comme peuvent l'être celles avec un médecin, un avocat ou un thérapeute. Et en cas de litige, elles pourraient même être présentées devant un tribunal.« Si vous parlez à ChatGPT de sujets sensibles et qu'il y a une action en justice, nous pourrions être légalement contraints de transmettre ces échanges », explique Sam Altman. Une situation qu'il qualifie lui-même de "profondément anormale". Le contexte juridique ne joue pas en faveur des utilisateurs. Une procédure en cours, lancée par The New York Times, oblige OpenAI à conserver l'historique des conversations, y compris celles que les usagers pensent avoir supprimées. Face à cela, Altman plaide pour un encadrement juridique clair. Il estime que les échanges avec une IA devraient bénéficier des mêmes protections que ceux avec des professionnels du soin ou du droit. « Il existe un secret médical, un secret professionnel. Pourquoi pas un secret conversationnel pour l'IA ? », interroge-t-il.Mais pour l'instant, rien de tout cela n'est en place. Et Altman le reconnaît : tant qu'un cadre légal n'existe pas, les utilisateurs sont en droit d'exiger une transparence totale sur la gestion de leurs données privées. Le message est lancé : n'oubliez pas que parler à ChatGPT, ce n'est pas parler en toute confidentialité. C dans l'air du 26 juillet 2025 : "Brigitte Macron est née homme" : le couple porte plainte "Je peux vous dire que l'on passe d'une dinguerie absolue à ce que je considère être une affaire d'État", a affirmé Éric Dupond-Moretti. L'ancien garde des Sceaux et proche du couple Macron a décidé de s'exprimer ce samedi au micro de RTL à la suite de la plainte déposée aux États-Unis par le couple Macron contre l'influenceuse américaine Candace Owens, qui avait relayé la fausse information selon laquelle la première dame française serait, "en réalité, née homme"."Tout ça aurait dû tomber dans le caniveau, c'était la seule place pour cette rumeur. Mais il s'avère que cette rumeur a été organisée, diffusée, propagée par des membres de l'extrême droite dédiabolisée", a déclaré l'ancien ministre de la Justice. Avant de poursuivre : "Tout ça pour déstabiliser ou tenter de déstabiliser le président de la République. Ce n'est pas qu'une histoire de fada, c'est aussi une histoire politique". L'ancien garde des Sceaux a ensuite pointé des liens entre des membres de l'extrême droite française et Candace Owens.Depuis janvier, cette créatrice de contenus d'extrême droite s'acharne à relayer et exploiter une rumeur mensongère selon laquelle Brigitte Macron serait "née homme", dans des vidéos cumulant plusieurs millions de vues. Une fake news qui nourrit la sphère complotiste américaine, jusqu'à être partagée récemment sur X par un général trois étoiles proche de Donald Trump, Michael Flynn, et qui resurgit régulièrement en France depuis 2017 sur les réseaux sociaux.Une autre affaire a enflammé les réseaux sociaux ces derniers jours : celle de la "Coldplay Cam". Lors d'un concert du groupe Coldplay, une caméra braquée sur le public a accidentellement mis au jour une histoire d'infidélité. Visiblement surpris dans une situation compromettante, le duo, dont les deux protagonistes sont respectivement mariés de leur côté, est rapidement devenu viral sur les réseaux sociaux. Depuis, la vidéo cumule des millions de vues et des parodies se multiplient sur les réseaux.Si les images du couple tentant de se cacher de la caméra peuvent prêter à sourire, la vague de harcèlement qu'il essuie sur les réseaux a de quoi interroger. Car les deux amants, ainsi que leurs proches, ont été très rapidement identifiés en quelques minutes grâce à des outils que l'on trouve sur Internet et qui utilisent l'intelligence artificielle. Et pour ces deux amants devenus célèbres, les conséquences ont été dramatiques. Travaillant tous deux dans la même entreprise, l'un comme PDG, l'autre comme DRH, ils ont dû démissionner.Alors qui est Candace Owens ? Les cadres proches d'Ali Bongo sont interdits d'accès au siège du parti, où ils avaient programmé une réunion stratégique, par la nouvelle direction du parti. Ce lundi 21 juillet aurait pourtant dû être un jour de fête, ou au moins à marquer d'une pierre blanche, pour le Parti démocratique gabonais de l'ancien président Ali Bongo : une véritable « réunion stratégique » était prévue, rappelle Gabon Media Time, « visant à relancer la dynamique interne » de la formation, « en prélude aux échéances électorales à venir ». Dit plus clairement, abonde Le Pays, l'ex-parti au pouvoir « tente de se réorganiser pour son grand retour dans une arène politique en pleine recomposition ». Affaibli par le coup d'État à l'encontre d'Ali Bongo en 2023, la formation ambitionne de revenir sur la scène politique, bon an mal an. Mais elle n'est pas la seule, note Gabon Review : « l'homme que l'on croyait politiquement défait, effacé, exilé à jamais dans les marges de l'histoire nationale, revient. » Car Ali Bongo a annoncé, en fin de semaine dernière, reprendre la présidence du parti, de Londres, où il vit désormais. L'Union a beau minimiser en parlant d'une « situation (…) incertaine », pour Le Pays, c'est justement certain : la formation est « miné[e] par des luttes intestines qui amènent » même le journal à « s'interroger sur son avenir. » Et Gabon Actu va dans le même sens : le parti « apparaît plus que jamais divisé. »  Or, le PDG ne peut pas vraiment se permettre de telles querelles internes : à ce stade, il « joue sa survie », martèle Gabon Media Time. Il faut dire, rappelle Le Pays, que la formation a déjà été « beaucoup fragilisé[e] » par l'après coup d'État, lorsqu'elle a subi « une véritable saignée avec des démissions en cascades. » Plusieurs cadres, « et pas des moindres », insiste encore le titre burkinabè, « n'ont pas hésité à quitter le navire, en le laissant dans le creux de la vague. » En plus de ces défections, « les positions divergentes », les « exclusions réciproques, les réunions concurrentes, les déclarations antagonistes » continuent « d'affaiblir » ce parti historique, opine Gabon Review. À lire aussiGabon: bataille de succession au sein du Parti démocratique gabonais Jusqu'où l'escalade peut-elle aller ?  Du Pays à Gabon Review, on emploie le même terme : celui d'une possible « implosion » dont les actuelles tensions ne seraient que les premiers symptômes. Même analyse pour Gabon Actu pour qui « la bataille du siège » lundi « semble à s'y méprendre n'être que la face visible de l'iceberg », qui pourrait bien « préfigure[r] une autre bataille, sur le terrain judiciaire cette fois-ci, au bout de laquelle l'ancien parti au pouvoir pourrait sortir complètement exsangue et groggy ». Pour le journal, ce contexte « hypothèque toutes chances de participation du PDG aux prochaines échéances électorales », prévues cette année.  Mais en réalité, analyse Gabon Review, l'enjeu est ailleurs : « il se situe dans le temps long ». Et c'est peut-être le fruit d'une tactique mûrement réfléchie par Ali Bongo : s'agirait-il, s'interroge le journal, d'une « stratégie pour peser à nouveau sur le destin national ? » Pour Le Pays, il y a lieu de le penser : « la volonté de Bongo-fils de garder la haute main sur son parti dans l'espoir de maintenir son influence sur la scène politique gabonaise » est « la preuve (…) qu'il est loin d'avoir digéré sa perte de pouvoir, encore moins d'en avoir fait le deuil », diagnostique le titre. Car parmi les multiples scénarios possibles, il y en a un, imagine Gabon Review, dans lequel, « à la faveur d'un affaiblissement du pouvoir central, d'une faille institutionnelle, ou d'un retournement d'alliances, l'ancien président pourra redevenir acteur, sinon roi ». Faute d'avoir conservé le pouvoir, Ali Bongo tente au moins « d'en garder la matrice », croit savoir le journal, qui conclut : « Ali Bongo n'a peut-être pas dit son dernier mot ».
